- Albuquerque Fire Rescue would like everyone to have a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Unattended cooking is the leading cause of cooking related fires, injuries and deaths. Thanksgiving Day results in three times the daily average for cooking fires. Follow a few simple tips to ensure a safe and happy holiday.
Always deep fry your thawed turkey outdoors. Carefully monitor oil level and temperature. Make sure turkey is dry before frying. Turn off flame and lower turkey slowly into the oil.
If you experience a stove top fire, cover the pan or pot with a lid. Never put water on a grease fire. Always have a properly rated fire extinguisher nearby when cooking.
Clean your oven before Thanksgiving. If a fire occurs in the oven, turn off heat and leave oven door closed.
Check your smoke alarms and fire extinguishers.
If you experience a fire immediately call 911.
Some preparation, education and common sense will reduce your chances of having to call 911 this Thanksgiving.

Looks like Jason is growing that Mo-Vember Mustache!!
Nice straight to the point message and effective demonstration. If you're not a confident home cook, you should *not* be deep frying with something that doesn't automaticaly regulate the temperature, and especially not attempting a recipe that requires several gallons of oil.
If you're deep frying, you guys forgot to mention turn off the burner while placing turkey in oil....
@@maldo72 that is a very good point. We will update that for next year’s video but will add it to the body.
