      Yeeeey, that would be marvelous. Your story so far using THOSe rules and THOSE characters is simply too good to let slip away :-) Truly excellent my friend.

    I love Scarlet Heroes. It's the easiest "pick up and play" solo ttrpg I've come accross. Everything is sleek and self contained. Not having to cross reference multiple resources is a huge benefit.

      I too love that when a ttrpg is its own book and not spread out into multiple books!

      Thank you! I think you would get bigger boost from the algorithm if I would upload more than once a week... But I will rather grow a little bit slower and take time to create decent videos, because I want these videos to stay relevant and helpful as long as possible :)

      Yeah and I guess these videos take quite some time to make and edit. Maybe in-between them you could find topics for some easier/shorter videos, I don't know. Well you already have ones so I guess you're doing OK for now :) @@CRP-Waltteri

      haha thanks. Yeah I am still working on my edit flow and scheduling, as soon as I get those running a little smoother I might have more ideas on creating shorts and stuff.

    Well, your video helps me settle on which system to go with for my next solo campaign! Agree with Steve, would like to see a follow up video on WWN to sort of cover how it may complement Scarlet Heroes.

    I love the little factoids about Armor Class. In those terms of ships it makes sense that a bigger ship would be a bigger Armor Class of ship. And I never knew that HP originally meant Hull Points. Interesting!

    Im planing to start with Scarlet Heroes and when my character get high lvl with alot money im thinking going into Adventurer Conquerer King System for Domain gameplay as a ruler. Lets hope it will merge well.
    Btw awesome vide, good tutorial and excelent story teller. Realy interesting.
    Small correction: dmg from combat rolls can "overflow" to diferent foes. You cant divide it as you will but the excess goes into other.
    Example: You done 10dmg to the dolls, that is 4 points of dmg. 1 doll recive 1 dmg and the other will recive the rest. If was one creature with 2HD , ould had recived 2pts of dmg and the other 2 to other foe. With the Fray die you can split as you want, as you want, as it represents passing or lesser blows and incidential sorceries.

    This is my favorite solo system. Kevin Crawford makes exquisite material. Many people have mentioned SH and even done short reviews, but i appreciate your thorough breakdown of it and wonderful playthrough. I dont think ive seen a playthrough of it yet.
    Great storytelling and roleplaying on your part. WWN i feel will be great to use for the world building, factions working behind the scenes, and creating NPCs, but i don't think the rules will work with SH. I imagine it would have to be one or the other. Interested to see what you figure out with it.

    • @CRP-Waltteri
      @CRP-Waltteri  5 місяців тому +2

      I think you can use the HP conversion rule fairly easily. You can give HP progression from SC according the hit die of the class, that will also determine the fray die (which is the same as hit die) only thing that will be different are the saves, but that's not too difficult to deal either.
      I have already converted classes like elf to SH, you just see the hit die and that determines the HP progression and the max damage die and fray die.

    I love how simply you explained thac0. That was the easiest to understand explanation of it I have ever heard. I am curious why they used Hit Dice for the enemy health, instead of just sticking with HP. Any idea? Either way, you've gained another subscriber.
    Also, I would love to see how to make this work with Exalted 2nd Edition.

    • @CRP-Waltteri
      @CRP-Waltteri  5 місяців тому +2

      Thank you for the sub! Exalted is definitely a game that has interested me so I am propably going to get it at some point when I have some money and time.
      Well I do not know for certain why Kevin went this route with HP but I can think a few reasons why this is a good change:
      1: Less HP bloat - The HP numbers will stay way more down which makes it easier to keep track on all the combatants.
      2: Stabilized HP progression and solo character advantage - While giving players the max hit die ammount of HP at the start while giving basic enemies only 1 hit, gives the player a great advantage, which helps them to survive alone, basicly rolling a random HP in regular dnd trusts that the stats and HP "average out" within the party and it has been built on the premise that there are many characters. In SH giving players max HP at first and stabily increasing HP per level keeps the character more stable over all and also at the same time decreases the earlier mentioned HP bloat.
      3: Quicker reference - Just a small thing, but when you come across 5 enemies with different ammont of HD, when the HD is the HP you save some time when you dont have to roll and calculate the hit points of the enemy, you simply just know right away. Overall the idea that HD represents the creatures level/hp and to hit bonus is just a really nice way to codify a lot of information into one number.
      I mean the main point is definitely to make PC more powerful VS. creatures, but there are definitely many benefits that makes the game run more smoothly.

      I've never had the chance to play any of the Exalted editions. I have made a character for all three, and watched a few live plays on UA-cam. The game seems very fun, and I wish there was more content for it available. So I hope you are able to do a solo play of it, because that is most likely what I would end up doing as well.
      Do you have a discord server?
      As for the HP/Hit Dice thing, what I meant was, why not just keep the values but call it HP? Why even bother calling it Hit Dice? To me, it seems confusing as far as the naming convention, only to use it as the actual health of the creature.
      However, I know I could just as easily switch to calling it HP for my own solo playthrough, so I suppose it's a moot point. lol
      I do find it interesting to try and understand why certain decisions were made in the creation and design of a game.

    I thought that the AC story was the other way. A ship of the line 1st rate was the biggest and best, so they'd have 1st class defenses. Something like a frigate is a 6th rate SotL, so it has the 6th best defense. You might be right, of course.

    • @CRP-Waltteri

      To be completely honest I am not quite sure either, it's been a while since I last dove into that subject (should have probably fact checked before starting to blabber about it in a video). But the way you describe it makes absolutely sense as well. Having 1st. Class defence = harder to penetrate armor sounds legit.

    I got a question. Let`s say i gitta get less abstract if i want such a game to ever hit the table, and I do want it. My only moderate success has been Melee & Wizard The fantasy trip. Peple enjoyed the combat system and I managed to cram some rpg here and there. Is there any other option that has similar combat? (no heroquest or whquest) I really like what I`ve seen so far from Scarlet Heroes but the combat is theatre of the mind. btw thanks for the content!

    • @CRP-Waltteri
      @CRP-Waltteri  3 місяці тому +1

      hmm.. there are few options when it comes to more "playable" TTRPGs, unfortunately it is impossible to "trick" anyone ever into roleplaying, but one game comes to mind that uses the mechanics to inspire roleplaying.
      Dragonbane would be definitely my first choice! Dragonbane has decent combat and mechanics for dungeon crawling and stuff, but it also has a mechanic called "pushing the roll", this means if players fail the roll, they can attempt to make the roll again if they take a condition for their character, they will also need to explain why their character will get that condition in that situation.
      for example, A character misses their attack roll, they want to roll again and decide to take the angry condition, they will say something like " well I think my character gets really frustrated and screams while they try to make this attack count". So the system is encouraging people to narrate the actions of their characters and giving them a re-roll for it, quite nice!
      I have a dragonbane beginner video in my channel as well :) hopefully this was helpfull
