Fate in solo play??? From Culinary Roleplaying???? Must be my lucky day! Fate is actually my favorite solo game at the moment as it’s simple enough to not bog down solo play. Although I will say I hear a lot it’s only really good in a group and I’m not sure why that is. I’ve run a full campaign in Fate before with only one player and it worked out wonderfully.
Anyways, just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work making these videos. I love your setup in Miro and now I use it myself!

Thank you for your kind comment.
Miro is really handy and when it's my turn to GM I usually use it in group play as well!
Well I actually made the same argument about FATE in my video, and for me it's just a hunch, but the big thing about fate is to have a conversation about aspects and coming into consensus with the group on what the aspects mean...and that dialog is a big part of the game.
That is not to say that fate would not work solo. Like I said, I think it absolutely works really well in solo play as well.

I glad it was helpful to you, and thank you I am just enjoying myself while playing but it's nice to hear that it comes throught. :)

Thank you for this demonstration! I always loved Fate ideas, but also has a some kind of "fear" of not doing it right. I always overestimated narrative nature of this game, tried to come up with catchy aspects and dramatic situations. But this video opened my eyes in terms of that you can play Fate simpler and closer to traditional TTRPGs. And, although it's not something you said explicitly, now I understand that in solo play there are only one person to please and it is me, so there is no problem as long as I am fine with simple aspects, stunts and all other systems.

I honestly want to thank you for this video. I always struggle with the concept of solo rpg. My main problem is with the sort of narrative, theatre of the mind type gameplay. You have made it seem so clear and effortless. I get too bogged down in the minutiae of the system, which leads me to feel overwhelmed or scared I’m doing it wrong. I want it to be too perfect and then I don’t enjoy it. I then give up. You have given me more confidence to give it a go. I might not use this system, in fact I would be interested to know what universal RPG you would recommend for a beginner. I have several different ones but I don’t know which one to use.

Thank you for your heartwarming comment ❤️.
For a beginner player, I would recommend a system like Savage Worlds.
The biggest hurdle for beginning players at first is to recognise when to roll the dice. Games that have clear characteristics and skills for the characters provide already much support on what situations should I roll the dice. Savage World's is also nice in that way that there is the base difficulty of 4 that you are always trying to beat so you don't have to focus on too much on that either.
To be fair I think universal systems might be harder ones to start with because they are stripped out of context. It's most often easier to learn how to play on more specific systems because then you have the world's built in context as well to inform you when you should roll or what.
But yeah Savage World's is my first suggestion. Just because it has clear skills and there is a lot of content online showing how the game plays so it is easiest to get accustomed to.

Another great and informative video! Could you do a review of The Merchant solo RPG by Feral Wizard, please? I can't seem to find any other videos on it at all.

Good idea to continue the same story but with different systems :)

Thanks! I try to bring the same characters back so everyone who watches my videos becomes familiar with these characters and it will provide additional context for the system and how it fares compared to other systems.
