Greetings Gea from the Netherlands! It's so great to connect with fellow crocheters from around the world. I'm glad you like this pattern. Thank you for watching.
I’ve made about 20 of your ponchos now. I understand that when you join the panels in the beginning you flip them over so you sew on the wrong side. Next when you join the final panels together to make the v neckline you never mention to flip panels so you are still sew in on the wrong side. Am I correct that first joining on video is wrong side and what I’m seeing is second joining is on right side then. I flip mine both times to sew on the wrong side. 4:02 which one is correct? Thank you Edwina
20!! Wow! I love it. And you are absolutely correct. I completely missed saying to flip the panels to seam. Someone else caught that a while back here on the comments as well. I'm glad you caught that.
I really enjoyed the pattern but i think I would make mine bigger next time. I ended up doing 4 SC around edge since it was not long enough for me. My yarn seemed stiff but I will try it again with another yarn. Very nice pattern and easy also. Thank you

I had never crocheted before and I made this poncho your video is amazing you are such a great teacher. I am going to make one for my daughter and I need to make it a little smaller do you suggest going down to 45?
Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm so happy this was your first crochet piece and that it worked out for you. Thank you for letting me know. A starting chain of 45 will work for a smaller size. You also need to make 5 fewer rows. Thank you again!
Thanks for the pattern. I love your work and I have recommended your channel to my contacts. You are simply the great and I love your work. What are the sizes for sizes M/L? How many chains and how many rows?
Thank you so much! The tutorial is for a small/medium. For larger sizes increase beginning chain in multiples of 5. Add to V-Stitch rows as needed (recommend increase by 5 rows for size Large).
@@honeycuba The detail is always in the description area in the white space below the video: Lion Brand Wool Ease 3 oz skein; 4 skeins used; color Goldl Thank you for watching!
To make a larger size increase you need to increase the beginning chain in multiples of 5 in order to get the v-stitches correct. The poncho, while a size small/medium, runs large already so try increasing the beginning chain (for each panel) by 25. That will make it wider. Do not add more rows as that will make it longer. This is using the yarn I used in the tutorial. Since I didn't use another yarn I can't tell you if it will size the same with a different yarn.
I love this poncho and you did a great job teaching how to do it in this video. My question is this. I think a medium would be the right size for me, but I want it to be longer by approx four inches. Do I just add more rows? I'm concerned if I make the bigger size starting with 70 chains, that will make the neck opening bigger and I'm not sure how much length it would really add. Also, did I miss somewhere if you gave a gauge for the pattern?

Hello Francine. The original size (Small-Medium) does work out to be double the width for the length. To make the pattern larger add to the beginning chain in multiples of 5 and add V stitch rows (recommend adding 5 rows per size increase). I hope this helps! Thank you for watching.

Hi Paula. If it is too long you will need to use a shorter foundation chain. This uses a multiple of 5 so remove chains by 5's. If you don't want to start over, perhaps try unraveling a few rows on each panel to see if that helps.

Hi Terri. I'm happy you want to make this poncho, however, if you change the weight of yarn used, it will completely change the outcome. I cannot advise you on number of stitches and such for chunky yarn as that is not the yarn I used here. If you want to make this pattern as it is designed, I would use a starting chain of 85. You need a multiple of 5. Then You will need to add about 5 rows per additional size larger. The tutorial is for a size small/medium. Try 15 additional rows. I hope this helps.

Crazy Cool Crochet thank you so much for such a quick reply 😊 and the pattern for a smaller size. One more question - I can see to adjust for larger sizes, you add the starting chain in multiples of 5, but how do you know how to adjust the number of finished rows?
@@kathyhopson2724 You're welcome. I don't like to keep anyone waiting. :) The adjustment for the number of rows was in the pattern: Adjust for larger sizes by adding 5 V st rows Hope this helps.

The poncho runs large already so doubling might be a little too much. Also, you will need to increase the number of rows. I would increase by at least 10 additional rows. You can hold it up to yourself to see if you need more.Hope this helps!
My Question: When we fold the panels to form and neck...and sew together.....doesn't that make it now "right side" that I am sewing up? Should I flip the pieces over before I fold so I am sewing on the "back side?"

Thank you so much for subscribing and for the compliment! So glad you like it. Be sure to visit the website for more free crochet patterns: CrazyCoolCrochet.com .
This fits a Small/Medium. If you want it larger, you would use a multiple of 5 to make a longer starting chain and add 10 more rows. I suggest a chain of 65 for Large.
The sizing is S/M, L/XL, 1X, 2X with instructions in the Etsy printable pattern. LInks to Etsy and the blog are in the description area below the video. Use a multiple of 5. I suggest a ch of 65 for the next larger size. However, personal tension, yarn used, etc., will affect the sizing. So adjust as needed. Thank you for watching!

Hi, I really loved your video and i have subscribed. I'm using a smaller pin (e) so i'm not getting the correct measurement. Please can i get the measurement in centimeters. Thank You.
Thank you so much for the comment and for subscribing. I truly appreciate it. If you are using such a small hook (pin?) the entire garment will look, feel and fit very differently. It will be much smaller of course, but also the weave will be very tight. It won't be airy and light as designed. Of course, you can make whatever changes you like but the outcome will not be the same. The measurements are in the comments below. Here they are again in inches. The length of one panel is 32 inches and the width is 16 inches. I don't have it in centimeters. As an American, I was only taught in inches. So sorry!
Hi there, love this poncho, I am using 5MM hook. Correct me if iam wrong...since we have the width all you have to do is make your chain 16". Please advise. Thank you from South Africa
Can anyone tell me what the stitch counts would be for a size 14-16 (L-XL) size? I don't want to try and guess and I don't know how to figure it out as I am fairly new to crochet. I know she says add 5 stitches, but I still can't figure out whether that would work. The front panel is on the bias so do I need to make sure it fits from the shoulder to past the opposite hip? Thanks, Debra
Hi could anyone help me I was wondering about the chain if I want to increase the size for a big lady how many chains would you need would one hundred be too many or is it the rows I have to increase sorry for my ignorance but never done a poncho before.
Hi Alison. To make a larger size you need to increase the beginning chain in multiples of 5 in order to get the v-stitches correct. Try increasing the beginning chain (for each panel) by 25 for an XLarge. That will make it wider. Add more rows (try 5 or 10) to make it longer. You didn't specify a size, however just add chains in 5's to keep increasing size. Hope this helps.
I'm happy that you want to try this pattern, however, this poncho is not designed with sleeves and cannot be adjusted to add sleeves. Try it as designed. I've had many crocheters make it and absolutely love it.
Hi there, just in the process of doing this poncho. Can you please tell me the dimensions of one of the rectangulars? That would be brilliant. Thanks in advance...

I know you like all crocheters work hard. I'm just not a fan of real gapey patterns when used for warmth or when gravity will pull those stitches out of shape. This certainly will. Good luck.on your channel.
Thank you for taking the time to comment! And your concern/preference is understandable. I do address the issue in the video/pattern when I say that I use a larger hook to deliberately make it more " gapey" as you put it, so that it is NOT too warm. It is designed to not be heavy and "hot". It is not meant to be a wintery garment. We can use ponchos for all seasons. And thank you SO MUCH for your good wishes! (I'll be uploading a classic cardigan tomorrow that is not at all gapey. Please come back and take a look. You might like that one better. :)

You can hold it up to yourself to see if you need more.Hope this helps!
Thanks for the poncho what is the length and width for a kid?

My Question: When we fold the panels to form and neck...and sew together.....doesn't that make it now "right side" that I am sewing up? Should I flip the pieces over before I fold so I am sewing on the "back side?"
Yes! Good catch!
Looks lovely pattern , thanks
Thank you so much!
How many chains to make a med/large, large/XL? Thank You
For larger sizes increase beginning chain in multiples of 5. Add to V-Stitch rows as needed (recommend increase by 5 rows for size Large). Thank you for watching!
Thank You so much for responding!
New subscribers, love the poncho. x

thank you! how many should i chain if i want to make a M/L?
This fits a Small/Medium. If you want it larger, you would use a multiple of 5 to make a longer starting chain and add 10 more rows. I suggest a chain of 65 for Large.
Hello can i use 3ply wool for this poncho. If yes then hiw many chain i start.
Thank you for the tutorial- how many chains do you recommend to make the poncho a size M-L instead of S-M
Thank you for watching!
very nice poncho, love the color … best of luck for your business :)
Thank you so much! Very kind of you. (Did you subscribe? LOL!)
@@CrazyCoolCrochet yes I did lol... thankyou for sharing.. your tutorial was a great help. all I need now is to go shopping for the yarn LOL … take care :)
@@karenking4271 Aww you're awesome! I was kidding but thank you. So glad it was helpful.
@@CrazyCoolCrochet thankyou :)… it really doesn't cost a thing to be nice to someone .. my thing is... if I was able to make a person smile on any one day, then I have had a success day .. hmm, would it be possible to make a hat or cowl with hood, from this pattern . it would make a nice Christmas gift, I think :)
@@karenking4271 Well mission accomplished! You certainly made me smile today. Love the idea of a hooded cowl! I'm working on a sweater pattern/video right now but maybe I'll try the cowl idea next. Thanks a bunch! Have a great day.
Does anyone know how long the chain should be for little girls size 7-8?
Hi April. You can try a starting chain of 35 and adjust the rows to 35.
Thank you!❤
I'm glad you like this.

do you wash and block it? Your size looks larger than mine.
No, I don't block at all. I'm a very short, petite so this looks big on me.
Please do more tutorials! 💫❤️
Aww thank you! There are lots more tutorials already posted with more on the way. : )
Thanks,
Debra
Hi Debra. For a L -XL start with a chain of 70 (a multiple of 5). Then add 10 rows. This is for each panel. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching.
Purchase your pattern from etsy but it wouldn't download just have to follow you online
Please message me on Etsy so I can re-send you the pattern. I cannot do that from UA-cam.
@@CrazyCoolCrochet Thank you that helped a lot x
Will a size 7 ml hook work for this?thank you
Hello. Yes, you can use a 7mm hook, however the stitches, depending on your tension, might turn out a little bit smaller. Thank you for watching!
Mam both paanels are same size,
Yes
How do I attach the single crochet stitch to start the boarder around the neck. I'm not sure in the video how to start it.
If I wanted to add sleeves, what would I have to do first?
I'm happy that you want to try this pattern, however, this poncho is not designed with sleeves and cannot be adjusted to add sleeves. Try it as designed. I've had many crocheters make it and absolutely love it.
Hi there, just in the process of doing this poncho. Can you please tell me the dimensions of one of the rectangulars? That would be brilliant. Thanks in advance...
Hi Julia. The dimensions are already in a comment below. Here it is again: The length of one panel is 32 inches and the width is 16 inches. So glad you are trying out this pattern!
@@CrazyCoolCrochet Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry, didn't see it in the other comments... 😅

How much yawn to need this poncho?

How many chain's for size xlg
To make a larger size increase you need to increase the beginning chain in multiples of 5 in order to get the v-stitches correct. The poncho, while a size small/medium, runs large already so try increasing the beginning chain (for each panel) by 25. That will make it wider. Adding more rows will make it longer.

You couldn’t mention the size it is prior to starting?
Well I suppose I could have and should have, but this was I believe my first ever video. I think I did pretty good otherwise. LOL. Actually, the size is in the description area with the other detail. I do hope you don't hold this against me and watch my other videos. Thank you!!
Crazy Cool Crochet I’m new to crocheting and based on the pic I thought it would be bigger. I didn’t think to look in the description. Thanks for responding. It was a good tutorial. I see another one of your tutorials for a bigger size.
Hello, what size should the panels measure for a 1X size poncho?
Thank you for watching. The poncho is already long and flowy and fits to at least a medium. You would need to increase the beginning chain in multiples of 5 in order to get the v-stitches correct. The panel is 16 inches wide. Increase the starting chain to about 30 inches. Also, you will need to increase the number of rows. I would increase by at least 10 additional rows. You can hold it up to yourself to see if you need more. Hope this helps!
