First time here, really enjoyed sitting in on the conversation - makes a nice change from a lot of the 'salespersons' purportedly 'reviewing' guitars. This looks like a lovely instrument, I personally like the finish and I have heard a few good audio demos on YT. I only own 1 Gibson, it's a 1968 Custom I bought 3rd hand in 1974 when our band was kicking off in NZ. Played it live a lot and then in 82 when the band folded and I went into soundtrack / album production I hung onto it and gradually picked up various other guitars along the way. I smiled when I heard the 'I never really use the middle position' comment - I used it a lot in the band thru a nice old Fender rig for that 'chimey' arpeggio chord thing - I grew up with the Beatles so George was my hero at that time. Peter Green probably my No. 2 in terms of the 'pop / blues rock' stuff so the Greeny thing has been on my mind the last couple of years with all the online chatter about it and my solution has been to grab the Epiphone / Gibson 1959 LP hybrid (Cherry, satin finish!) which I am enjoying. My plan is to get the Monty's Bethnal Greens, which seem to be the most interesting boutique take on the Greeny middle position thing and see how I get on! Thanks again for a fun chat - maybe I'll get around to grabbing one of these Gibsons if they turn up here in HK . . . cheers!

A detail to improve - guitar is out of tune a bit )
Conclusions are "pixel perfect" - guitar sounds good, looks gorgeous but the price point makes it meaningless.
Also it would be good to hear it with no effects - if I understand correctly, even from the start of the playing, the bit of delay was engaged.

100% Marko 🙌. I couldn’t agree more mate. I was waiting for this guitar to drop and when it did I gotta say I was a little disappointed. The price to quality ratio is just nit appealing to me. Btw no one is talking about the Gary Moore Collectors Choice from 2010 (around then) which retailed for $9,995 I believe. It was looked on as been over priced when it came out (if you could believe that today eh?) and today it’s half the price of the cheaper ‘Greeny’. This one here in the video is a real nice guitar but it’s not a Greeny.
Btw, something I noticed (been Irish myself). It seems like the amazing thing Gibson has done (by accident probably) is to turn on many new people to Gary Moore with releasing this new line (series) Of Greeny’s. I see them almost everyday online. How do I know they are new Gary Moore fans? They call him underrated. No one who grew up with Gary Moore or who has listened to his music for years would consider him under rated. He was an animal. A savage player. Definitely not under rated. So it’s great that Gibson has achieved this in the process of selling ridiculously over priced guitars. Gary Moore deserves to be heard, by EVERYBODY 🙌

Do Gibson Flip the the Magnet firstly to make it out of phase and secondly turn the pickup around? ( For visual affect)
If you simply turn the pickup 180 deg in a pickup ring , it won't be out of phase with the other pickup.
That's like turning a clock upside down and expecting the hands to move in the opposite direction.
If you turn the pickup 180 deg in the pickup ring , sure, effectively you've flipped the magnet but you've also flipped the coils so the effect is nothing .

Over time Gibson will use lesser tops, they will be less nice and less flamed.what they did with the slash models. They call those tops AAA but they’re not even close.

The pickups I in thise guitar are not a gimmick. The pickups in the custom shop versions are also called Greeny buckers . It's not the same as with the slash pickups at all . The greeny buckers are clones of the PAFs in the real guitar and they were designed by Jarred Brandon and he cloned the actual pafa in the original and Kirk was involved in their design and rejected the first several attempts .. The custom shop versions of the pickups are also called greeny buckers .

It's meant to be a different feel.
For me it doesn't cut it to rationalize. It's emotional. And this works for one and not the other.
    But tonewise...
A 2016 or 2018 Standard does that and much much more with Out of Phase option, 2 different Single Coil sounds for neck, 1 for bridge.
But funny enough, that's not what traditionalists like.
My 2018 can sound like a burst or like that Greeny. And still It's neck and finish is different. And so every guitar inspires differently. Go for what is right for you!

The Greenies look very cool no doubt. And I definitely don’t have any issue w/Kirk agreeing to go w/this Gibson release. Good on him and go after that income.
The woods I’m sure are top notch.
Honestly though IMO these are not worth their asking price unless you’re a major collector type and then it would make sense I suppose. When I make that statement, I’m talking about the $20k version and not this one. This version is Gibson’s “pity-fu{k”.
However, if you’re gonna go w/the mega high end replica fine, go for it. But why toss out these other knock offs of a knock off?
I have a LP Classic from 2001 that has the Premium Plus top. It’s one of the best LP I’ve ever played. I installed SD Antiquity pups and honestly it looks cooler IMO than this one.
Man, you guys are spot on here and thank you for calling this crap out.
I think Gibson is putting out some really nice instruments right now but this is just stupid.
    Again, great job guys. Facts

Just the fact that you mentioned the word Slash, 50 times, says a lot. The Slash edition from 2008, set the standard, I own one! Kirk can keep his guitars, and all the drama that goes with them! I never had to go thru the nonsense of buying my guitar, I just bought it, and I’m still enjoying it today. Slash is not a prima Donna, like Kirk Hammett!

My dilemma is now do I go for the Greeny Gibson or Gibson Slash AFD considering I have this Epi. I have one shot for the Gibson - $6000 here in Australia even with discount (retail 7200). I am confused AF as to which direction.

@@damienhick1647 I’m not a big Kirk Hammett fan, a lot of the cost of his signature guitars is attributed to the aging process, witch makes no sense to me, I like a brand new perfect guitar, that I can ding it up myself, or try not too! It’s your choice, but I own a Slash edition, and it’s my work horse, sounds great, plays great, I paid 3500.$ for it, and with all the money I saved, I bought a couple Gibson acoustic guitars, one is the Slash edition J45, it’s your call, I just don’t think the Kirk guitar would make me any happier….

As I’m watching a “Greenie” review…I was scratching my head thinking “what makes THIS an actual Greenie”. Marko nails this. The guitar seems pretty solid. Good wood, fit finish, etc…but yeah…what else?!?! The out of phase pickup set up is a bad tip of the hat. No relicing, no Greenie vibe at all. Either keep it to the $20k or $50k versions. OR do a legit Murphy Lab production level version for the usual overblown $9-10k and keep it moving. But to call this a “Greenie” is a slap in the face.

So it's a LP Standard 50's Neck in "Greenie Burst Satin", with an AAA top, ABR bridge, reversed neck pickup and mismatched knobs. Not a bad guitar at all, but just call it for what it is... another thing that bugged me is that the hardware is chrome, not nickel like the CS and original, cheap thing to correct. The neck profile and wiring were missed opportunities, it ends up looking they just wanted to rip off the unaware. Suhr and Fender have been using neck profile scanning and CNCing them on their artist copies for years. That would be the best, but you can do it by hand... "just try, Gibson".

People get trapped by names. And this seems to work better than ever before. Quality is just a random thing. I am far from being amongst the world´s best guitarist, but I bet I can reproduce the sounds to be heard in this video with any of my Gibson or Tokai humbucker guitars. Get three high quality guitars at 1k each (yes, it is possible) und you have something to talk about.
But anyway, thanks for the review and the true words about the pricing at Gibson. But since people are willing to pay half a million or more for old LPs almost no matter what condition they are in, 10 or 20k are peanuts. And once you spent the money, you have to tell all the world that THIS ONE ist the best of all.
Edit: Don´t get me wrong: This doesn´t mean I doubt your opinion about this particular item; not at all!
