i saw Babcock at an outdoor event in Yorkville in 2018. I walked by and respectfully said hey coach how are you. He looked at me and laughed. He’s a bad guy.

I agree with you - he's a terrible guy - but I don't get how this shows that. Looking at you and laughing seems more strange than bad. Like, I'd think that a bad guy would grumble and say "Who wants to know?" Or something like that..

I like this reply by Jakub Voracek on X.
Frank Seravalli wrote: "With Mike Babcock gone, why isn't Jarmo Kekalainen following him out the door?"
Jakub Voracek replied: "What a nonsense Frank.stop pushing this cancel culture agenda!"
and added "This is directed on Jarmo and NOT Babcock fyi."
There is a great support and trust in Jarmo still within the organization and from old players. Everybody makes mistakes and it's also a 100 % fact that Jarmo did not alone recruit Babcock, JD was a huge driver of it, and they without a doubt confirmed with the owner reps that this is fine.

Exactly if someone is given a second chance and it doesn't work out then those responsible for giving the second chance should lose their jobs. That way it ensures nobody gets a second chance and we have a pure society free of mistakes just as Jesus intended.

@@hhoyt3501it’s not that people shouldn’t get 2nd chances, but the correct due diligence was obviously not done in this case. That’s not a “mistake” it’s incompetence, which people need to be held accountable for, that’s business, not cancel culture.
Also- the way they handled the situation immediately afterwards was to cover it up.

The way they handled the situation immediately afterwards was to cover it up'?
No. They got rid of him immediately because Babcock hadn't learned from his experience in Toronto, and despite being a good coach (Stanley Cup, Olympic Gold, 20+ years coaching) who by many accounts knows the game and is well organized, has rather strange ideas about motivating players, building rapport and team unity. Once that strangeness reoccurred, Columbus management knew this was the old Mike, a mistake had been made, and they wanted him gone before he could do further damage.

@@hhoyt3501 Exactly, I'm glad someone finally said it. Jesus intended a pure society. There's no more important place to start than with NHL team management and the scripture is very clear when it says "It is to one's glory to never overlook an offense."
A pure society starts with not giving second chances to those who gave a second chance. If we do then we'll be giving a second chance to those who gave a second chance and if Blue Jackets don't win the Stanley Cup then they won't get a second chance and who will be there to give us a second chance to give someone a second chance to give someone a second chance?
      Nobody. That's who. Nobody.

      @paulybeefs8588 Рік тому

The tides were already starting to turn at the end of Keenan's NHL coaching days, and it's just a different world today.
Media just isn't centralized, controlled, and distributed the way it used to be. Stories will find a way to get out, and when they do the audience making judgment is a lot more than just the reach of the regional newspaper. Organizations can't protect a toxic sh!tpiece coach anymore, so it's a lot more difficult for a coach to employ toxic sh!tpiece tactics.

"The Athletic" is the most whiny supposed media organization, period. Jarmo Kekkaleinen is now out of a job as GM, Columbus was TERRIBLE again last season and their supposed franchise player is in the player assistance program and just sold his Columbus condo and doesn't look like he ever plans to play there again. But, you know, "the Athletic" is right. It was all Babcock's fault for asking to look at someone's phone. The "lessons learned" will be imminent bankruptcy of The Athletic.

I am sure there are a few others at the same age and experience of Babcock, that are not lolly white, the are not as yet in the cross hairs if people like the Chicklets. My feeling is this was a media assassination, Babcock's enemies waiting around questioning those around the team until they heard a juicy, story like I heard from a guy who knows a guy. Then jumped in it. Some of the vets came out with their take on it, but the story seekers went to the rookies, with hey that was pretty crappy asking for your phone, eh. The rookie goes along with the media vet, so he says ya It was I guess. There it is folks.

Did you happen to be with the leaf's executives where they gave you the facts? Or were you at the Club meeting to discuss the Blue Jackets executives take on it? No didn't think so, what you are doing is giving a negative story legs, with some one told me who heard from what's his name.
