I’m 79 years olds with Stage 3 Cancer twice in 2007 and 2020. it hasn’t been easy. Watching and listening closely what Dr. William Li talks about is so important. My diet was terrible, fast foods, processed foods, Soda, eating pastries, donuts loved sugar. Thank you Dr Li may God Bless you. Please continue we need more Drs like you.
After my first and thank the Lord my last visit with my oncologist as he cleared me which beforehand I filled out a questionnaire that asked me how much alcohol did I drink per week? I wrote down maybe 1 glass of wine per week and as he read this he looked up stared me in face and said Michael don't do that glass of wine! I responded without hesitation okay doctor! I thought to myself he sure the hell knows more of the causes of cancer👍
In Japan many cancer patients were cured just by taking raw potato juice (you can find in you tube how to prepare): some also take raw carrot juice. My cousin had stage 3 prostate cancer. underwent operation but not chemo. He took one tablespoon each of raw potato juice, carrot juice, papaya leaf juice 'very bitter), asparagus juice etc everyday. After over a year, he is free from cancer.
my mom had cancer ~ TWICE ~ first in her 40's and again in her early 50's!! She changed her diet to RAW FOOD and died at 85 AFTER she tired of a raw food diet!
I am 68 a nurse and. usually scared to watch programs about health😊Imade it through this entire program and feel so much better for going forward. Thanks so much
I thought that your body needs fat for your hormones to be healthy and your brain also, the big problems are sugar and processed food's 😮 man kind had a meat diet also,
My dad was an orthopaedic surgeon in Bristol England and he said your only as old as your arteries and I think he was right. Good lecture. Dr. Li you are absolutely right about reversing Heart Disease and people need to get off the North American Diet it’s a disgrace to humanity. I’m a Type ll diabetic so I cannot eat fruits or some vegetables so not being on drugs I’m on the Keto diet very low carbohydrates and with many blockages and needing stents I’ve chosen diet as my physician and we’ll see if it works I’ve made it to 83 3rd year on keto lost 60lbs walk the dogs daily I only wish I’d known about diet 30 or 40 years ago. I hope people listen to this interview and take action before it’s too late.
I am not keto, but low carb (nix’d grains/flours/sugars and pasteurized milk products) My lesson was stress induced autoimmune disease, which necessitated my cleaning up my formerly mediterraneaneasque way of eating. Always ideal weight, now a bit too thin, not sure how to plump up.
I’m T2D and mostly carnivore but very occasional keto days if my body is craving something…(usually tomatoes/Brussel Sprouts for some reason). My blood work is superb (after years of deranged results) and off all meds. Statins took me to the brink of death (strokes/muscle wasting/heart problems/memory loss/dementia-like loss of cognition/severe-chronic body pain etc). All have gone gradually since stopping statins and eating high fat, very low carb and moderate protein. I can now walk and swim again after being bed-bound for most of 4 years. I try to reintroduce more plants at times, but arthritis, neuropathy and other symptoms return within days. Just not worth it for me. Other people have been ok with the plants. It’s definitely not a one-size-fits-all thing. It’s been a long rough road back from the pit of despair but my only regret is that I didn’t find it sooner. So happy now.
@@jennygibbons1258 Yeah plants are for sheep we are carnivores ! Best stay off the pork & chicken only grass fed for me except Iberico when in the Iberian peninsular of course....
I'm a very fit, slim prediabetic 73 year old, described as 'atypical' because I don't fit the usual model for prediabetes. I've always had high HDL levels and very low triglycerides but LDL at the top of the normal range and GP said that was nothing to worry about I've been on a very low carb, not quite keto, diet for 4 years with lots of plants, nuts and seeds and low saturated fats, except yogurt and milk kefir, but blood glucose levels stay stubbornly the same. I had a heart MRI last year during participation in a clinical study which found healthy arteries and liver but not so good subtle microvascular dysfunction, for which cause can only be conjectured. Was put on statins for the LDL which lowered it, and metformin for the BG (no effect so far) but won't know what effect they're having on the small vessels because there won't be a further MRI to find out. I just keeping eating well, taking loads of exercise, taking the tablets and hoping for the best.
I did alot of damage with lack of sleep, horrible diet, high stress for decades & now living with the consequences. This is the pep talk I needed to hear that maybe I can change my lifestyle to undo the damage. Its never too late.
I’ve been undoing a lot of damage from my early years. Chronically overslept. Chronic heavy drinking. Chronic stress. The list goes on. I’ve been climbing my way out of the hole I dug, and it’s been a long road but a good one.
I just can't stop listening ing to Dr Li since I fell upon his talks and interviews on You tube! For me, life changing. I am introducing Dr. Li to my friends, family, and work colleagues. He is positive and gentle, and his information is scientifically based and makes me feel I CAN & WILL make the changes I need to.
I agree completely with Lori. Dr. Li is probably the clearest and humble MD I have heard talk about health. He knows his specialization very well and speaks very well too.
Thank you. I am taking medication for high blood pressure and diabetes for almost 20 years. I would like to get off them, so I am encouraged to know that changing my diet can get me nearer to that goal. I am already active at 75.
*Five rules of a healthy lifestyle* 1.Diet 2.Exercise 3. Proper sleep 4.Closeness to nature 5.Right mindset *Diet -* 1) eat 1 or maximum 2 times, don't eat anything in between 2)don't consume foods that are unknown to our body such as tobacco, alcohol, genetically modified food, chemicals, pesticides, fertilizer,Vegetable or seed oil, Processed food, sugar, Refined carbohydrates, Packed food, frozen foods, burnt food-food that turns black after burning such as parts of barbecue 3)don't use plastic bottle, tiffin or any other pots to carry foods or drinks. Use earthenware or ironware only 4) eat whole natural food, 5)the macro should be moderate in Protein, less in slow digestive carbohydrates, low in good fat. 6. Source of natural protein - chicken, mutton, fish, egg, lentils, Tofu, paneer, soyabean, Source of good fats - dry fruits, olive oil, coconut oil, Source of good carbohydrates - Millets, oats, moosli, 2. *Exercise* - 1)some exercise for movements like walking, cycling, swimming etc. 2) Some exercises for muscles strengthening like pull ups,sit ups, dips, Just as stagnant water rots, and flowing water remains pure, our body also works in the same way, mobility is very important for our body, our body is not made just for sitting and lying down, promise yourself. that from today itself you will get rid off a sedentary lifestyl. If you don't like going to the gym, try doing something else for physical activity that you enjoy, like a physical sport (tennis, running, basketball, soccer, etc.). *3.Proper sleep -* 1) 7 to 8 hours of deep sleeping 2) include 9 pm to 4 pm timing in your sleeping pattern if possible that's the time when our body heals 3) no light and noise should be there at your sleeping place. 4.Closeness to mature 1) walking on unpaved ground like on soil, sand, 2) spending some time somewhere where air quality is good, and clean natural water is available 3) touch the flowers and tree whenever you get chance 4) sometimes gets wet in the rain 5) expose yourself to the sun for at least 20 minutes a day 5.Right Mindset 1)live a truthful, purposeful life, spread love, help vulnerables, thank God for everything you have got. consider yourself the master of your work but Consider the God the master of those work's results 2)have faith that if you are on a right side,God will not ruin you, if not here then you will be rewarded in the hereafter for your good deeds i.e eternal life. if your are not harming anyone, benefiting the needy with whatever capacity you have, surely you are dear to God, don't care about for majority of the people they are selfish and wrong doers. When God loves then nothing matters. 3)Don't expect anything from anyone, just keep performing your duties, as a son, as a husband, as a neighbor, as a relative, as a father. On the Day of Judgment you will not be asked whether your parents fulfilled their duty as a mother and father towards you or not, rather you will be asked wheither you fulfilled your duty as a son or daughter or not, similarly you will not be asked whether your children fulfilled their duties towards you or not. Rather, you will be asked whether you fulfilled your duty of being a father to them or not. Everyone has to answer for themselves, if your parents or wife or children are not performing their duties towards you then still you should fulfill your duties towards them without any expectation in return. 4)Don't lose hope in your suffering because everything has an end, whether good or bad. Be it happiness or sorrow, nothing remains permanent If you have lost a loved one, don't despair. You still have a chance to meet them in heaven, just do good works so that you get to heaven and pray to God to meet them there. Even if you are blind, lame or speechless, do not be discouraged because this life is very short, just created for a test. real life begins after death, there you will not have these problems, just be patient, do not curse God continuously, Those who follow religion even in the face of great difficulties will get a place in heaven which even the common good people will not get. All these provide mental peace which is very important for a healthy brain because when the brain is disturbed it disrupts all the functioning of our body.
I am 78.5 yrs old. I weigh 115 lbs at 5’3.5” - I take NO pharmeceutical drugs - I am a very vigorous healthy woman with normal cholesterol and low triglycerides. I eat a ketogenic diet and if I get sick, which is minor and rare, I use organic herbal remedies I am familiar with which always work. My bone density is great. Both of my parents and 3 of my grandparents died in before 75 - my father at 58. Swimming and walking are my exercises. I start the day with 2 cups of organic coffee with heavy cream and sweetened with stevia. No way would I switch to eating this diet he is recommending. Most early afternoons I eat low sugar bacon and very high quality eggs with an organic salad and a small slice of gluten free sourdough bread with butter. I also cook my eggs in high quality grass fed butter from Ireland - lots of it. The meats and fish I eat are pasture raised, organically fed meats and wild caught fish - including a lot of sardines as they contain the least amount of mercury. I rarely consume sugar which is poisoning a huge portion of the population. I would say that the proof is not in the pudding but in the NO sugar, NO pesticides and NO grains. I never cook in damaged oils - I use butter.
Sounds great good for you ! What will you do in a year when the "lunatics in control" are culling the national Cows in Ireland to reduce emissions over that BS Communist Climate Change "Agenda" ? So disgusting and sad I hope the people there stop the monsters in charge
@@Jmjdit absolute rubbish from you I'm sorry to say....what happens is " orthodox" medicine is very precribed , very top down. Once you're taught smthg at medical school , that's it. To this day, medical schools teach very little about nutrition. They're pill pushers, they mean well but they've been trained to think stratins etc are the way forward. You have a naive view of science and the medical industry.. Sorry to be so vociferous but I've been on the receiving end of mal practice and it woke me up to the disconnect. Experiences vary...what does that even mean? I mean I know what you're saying, but the people with power to change have persistently ignored ignored voices like Dr fung for so long. We need an orthodoxy but not one so in hoc to monied Interests.
I noticed that Dr. Li had a copy of his wonderful series "Eat To Beat Disease" on the shelf behind him. I discovered the audio book several years ago and I highly recommend it. It's full of helpful information about the foods we eat and how they affect our bodies both positively and negatively. No matter how well you think you're eating, this series will help you do even better! Thank you Dr. Li!
I have been absorbing so much information from various sources including looking at many studies, randomized control studies, epidemiologic and meta-analyses. One of the main take-aways that I have arrived upon is that no one has a perfect handle on health, some have a very good handle but the topic requires years to consolidate the information. Another nugget that has risen through the morass is that the subject is so complex that there are very few things that will make a dramatic change in your health in isolation. There must be a composite of changes or interventions to make a significant difference and these can include lifestyle, diet, drug and surgical interventions. With so much variability in the population there is not one approach that can be applied, personalization is necessary where the person and doctors shape a set of strategies to find a suitable path forward. It is up to the person to navigate the options and make choices to best suit them. Please do not be swayed by one person or doggedly attach yourself to 1 belief without overwhelming evidence. It is a process that hopefully leads us to the best possible outcome.
The evidence is becoming profoundly clear by massive research that smoking, processed food, lack of exercise, a sedantary lufestyle, and sugar are health destroyers. End of story.
I truly found this information fascinating (as are all of your podcasts) because I am living proof that we can shift blood test results without the need for statins. I am 79 and my doctor has wanted me on statins for a long time, but I've always refused. I joined the Zoe program and got my test results back on the 7th of April. I have been meticulous in eating the Zoe way for my body and had a new blood test a mere 5 weeks later that showed ALL OF MY LIPID (CHOLESTEROL ETC.) PANEL is now in the normal range. This is truly life-changing. I KNEW in my heart that I could 'fix' my blood through diet. I was already a vegetarian (over half my life), have low blood pressure, and have been doing Intermittent Fasting (for 3 years) with a 5-hour eating window ~ 90% of the time simply a big veg and a small fruit salad. I actually hoped I would have good results, but was shocked to discover that my body's ability to process sugar and fat was 'bad' and my microbiome was also not great. I tweaked my diet by adding more vegetables, herbs, and fermented foods to my savoury salad, and more fruit, nuts, and kefir to my sweet salad. I was pleasantly surprised to watch my weight slowly going down, so over these 6 weeks I've also lost 3 kg. I've found all of the Zoe materials to be incredibly helpful and am looking forward to living the Zoe way for the rest of my life ~ which, by the way, is likely to be past 100 with longevity in my genes. I believe that this remarkable way of eating (and sleeping and moving!) would benefit every person and hope that these methods will become primary tests to assist every person to 'clean up' their lives and become healthier, thus change from treating illness and symptoms to assisting people to live truly healthy lifestyles.
I am in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. I found the video very interesting. The messaging is clear without technical jargons. Thank you so much for elevating the task of the medical profession not just prescribing alternative medicines but aim for natural healing with life style changes that any one can adopt.
I am in the late 50 i became pre diabetic and got high blood pressure at first I was terrified but I immediately started getting rid of them by fasting 24 hours cutting carbs exercising changing my life style and eating more healthy foods avoiding junk and all fast foods. Thanks to all of these personal efforts with in 3 months I could reversed those terrible diseases to the normal level .
What about the carnivore diet? Doctors, like cardiologists are in favor of it. Many people comment how healthy they are after adopting that diet. Beef, eggs and bacon. I am all confused. Very contradictory info the more docs I listen.
God bless you Dr. William Li! 🙏♥️✝️ I can listen to you for hours and hours! You are not only a GREAT doctor but you also have a way of explaining that a person who is not in the medical field can follow you very easily! You're also very humble and compassionate! Again God bless you to continue to help people with natural things/ lifestyle not being buried in medication for their entire life! 👏🌿♥️
In my 20 I ate plants and fish. I found out I needed meat. At one point I felt hungry no matter how much I ate. When I ate meat in the morning, chicken, ground meat, steak I had no problem.
It’s all so individualized. I changed my way of eating a lot in my 80 yrs. What suits me sometimes does not other times. While on carnivore I wanted fruits and veges. So I went back. The thing is, your body tells you what makes it the happiest. I would listen to it!!
You've helped all of us understand something medical easier and it can be challenging to understand. What's even amazing is that it's actually possible for us to prevent and even reverse the stiffening and tightening of our blood vessels by eating healthy food, specifically greens. This just shows that living longer and healthier can be done by the lifestyle and food choices we have. This is really benefical which is why Thank you so much for this LEO and Dr. Li! You guys remind us of the wonderful health and wellness coaches of Reviving Mind who help older adults stay happy and healthy.
Greens have no nutritional value. They are not food for humans. We can't live on plants and are much healthier when we don't consume any. Vegetable oil is the worst, followed by sugar, other carbohydrates, and fiber.
Living sicker for longer. Really appreciate this interview. For me I'm following a whole food plant based diet without salt, oil or sugar. Stopped alcohol and smoking. Trying to get my 7+ hours sleep. I need to read more, relax, mediate and maintain good relationships with my family. Very hard to do because so much more anxiety around than ever before.
@@jerome4276 totally agree. All this so called "research " promoting fruit and veg - we don't need minerals, fibre or a healthy gut biome. I say meat, fats, water and some salt.
I had a heart attack 2 weeks ago and had a stent put in without consult and it happened so fast, now they want me on so much more medication and I think there is an alternative out there. This doctor is amazing and full of knowledge, wish I had taken steps sooner.
I ate a heart healthy diet for years and had a heart attack. I have been eating a carnivore diet for a year and finally got my glucose under control, my blood pressure under control, my digestive issues under control and my headaches gone. My heart is much healthier now than when I was eating lots of green leafy veggies and plant proteins. I also walk 5 miles daily and my cardiologist is stumped. Every single auto immune disease I had is better on a carnivore diet.
Hi Doctor, Just tuned in. This is going to be a Lifesaver for many if people Heed your knowledge. I am 58 and stopped smoking at 24, i started at 10 when you could get cigarettes out of a machine on the high Street ( in England).I had my over 55 check up recently were you blow into a device to test your lungs. The nurse was Amazed and replied "your lungs are only 35 years old". I replied "younger than me then" 🤣. I didn't get it really but as the nurse saw a lot of smokers she told me I could Relax. Smokers of my age have their lung age as high as 85!!!!!...Food For Thought.
I love Dr Li. He gives us joy and hope. My doctor wants me to take medicine for the rest of my life. I will try to better my health with diet, exercise, lower stress to take care of myself. I will try to find a doctor that has the same mindset as Dr Li. Thank you to both of you.
Get an infrared blanket. 30 min a day or even a few times a week will rejuvenate you and help overall with stress and sleep better as well. I got mine on Amazon.
Thank you Doctor for the perfectly useful health tips. In this connection I am regularly taking tumeric with black pepper, black seed oil, olive oil and lemons plus popular spices. I am aged 71 but looking much younger. It is very sad to see young people eating junk foods e.g. industrial sugar beverages and take aways.
I just come across this teaching on science and health. I rate this discussion as one of the best concerning our blood vessels and our heart. Respect to Dr.William Li. Also the host.
Thank you, Dr. Li. I am an 80-yr-old female with a-fib but without insurance (so, no Walkman). I am having to educate myself and change my eating habits and daily walking. Thank you for your reassuring information. 💕💕💕
I wish all cardiologists thought like Dr. Li. They give scripts and just expect us to stay on them. After finding out I had blockages in all three heart arteries, I asked about dietary changes but he said to eat heart healthy, go out for special dinners, but eat heart healthy. DIET caused the problems in the first place! I thought I was eating healthy and look where that got me. Cardiologists need more nutritional training or need to refer patients to those who can help with the kind of dietary changes that can reverse heart disease.
Dr. Li - You are such a gift! Every time I see you online I tune in, and my mood brightens. 😉 I always learn something, as your positive attitude leaves me feeling hopeful. But even more important (for me) is saying THANK YOU . . . for the many ways you share what you know and teach us what you're learning. See you in Cambridge one of these days.
I lived a low fat diet all my life and I am 100 lbs overweight. I am now eating a high fat diet to lose weight. I have lost some weight and my blood pressure dropped significantly.
And Low carb is the key. I had success with keto diet. Loss my weight plus healthy skin, good mood and optimum brain function when you on ketosis. Keep up good work
I did carnivore January… 1 lb a day weight loss for the first two weeks! (Probably mostly water loss, but I’ll take it!) likely due to not feeding myself simple carbs and sugary drinks. Even better was the energy and drive that I developed! My wife loved that! Then i went back to my normal diet (eating lifestyle, if you don’t like the diet word)… and allowed myself Pepsi and such… “just this one time” lol now I’m tired.. and have put back more pounds… Time to go back to a better diet… less visits to the drive thru, less visits to 7/11. (Side note, liquid death brand sparking water… berry me alive flavor is a hero for me! Replaces soda pop fairly nicely)
Low fat high carb is a cruel experiment that has made us fat, unhealthy, diabetic etc etc etc. I've gone carnivore - the exact opposite of what I learnt at uni and taught for 30 years. First time I've had a 6 pack since competing in triathlons in the 80s. Well done. Keep it up. Check out Dr Paul Mason and Dr Ken Berry on UA-cam ❤
Thanks a million Dr Li. Am diabetic and have high blood pressure. Switched to legumes and fish; occasionally meat. My BP is starting to drop and am decreasing pills I pop. All this in just one month. Truly appreciate your lecture and now look forward to quit all pills gradually.
DM is a lifestyle disease. If you change your lifestyle you eliminate DM type 2. Blood pressure just drink hot chocolate / Cacao pure. Your blood pressure will be normal.. All the way from Republic of Ireland filipino
This is fantastic information. Unfortunately, my doctor loves to prescribe medications. I am so grateful that Dr. Li is also taking the holistic approach to certain illnesses. It's so encouraging to know that there is a better way to handle high blood pressure (with discipline). It's really depressing to have to rely on a lot of pills. I am very grateful for doctors who are human enough to treat others as human beings and not worry about the kick-back from pharmaceutical companies.
I am having a problem with my right leg It seems my problem l have been on Amlodipine for 10 years The only medication l take is this one. The vascular surgeon said my circulation is excellent so he was not sure what the problem is In the meantime l saw an article saying 4 things to watch for when taking Amlodipine as it hardens or narrows the artery The light bulb lit up This is my story So 10 years of HBP meds and for someone who was very health conscience and exercises If only l had known Maybe this well help someone else l should mention l am a 94 year old female and l enjoy living Tks
@@helenkidd5628 Thanks so much for sharing that! I'm 79, and had to stop Amlodipine (for a congenital arrhythmia) after taking it for years. I've had much better results by changing my diet. I love living, and plan on being around a lot longer, too! You've encouraged me! ❤
Excellent Dr.Lee, this is the right approach to heart related issues. And it's my real time experience after a heart attack three years back. Opting to not have a stent put in, and skip statins although both recommended by the cardiologist. The diet and lifestyle changes have helped me last three years to be in perfect health. Of course I am on heart medications other than statins. All the best, keep it up. I am 69 and active going for walks daily living in a senior living facility.
Thank you for this wealth of information. I am 65 yrs old. I am in the process of changing my diet to plant base. I have am doing intermittent fasting and lost a dress size. This is encouraging to learn more about healthy habits I can adopt to change my lifestyle completely.
Good luck! It’s the best decision in your life!! Been plant base since 2001. No one believe my age and I haven’t been sick in decades. I used to be sick allot before and as I age I look and feel better. You will love how you feel so keep it up, don’t let anyone change your mind.
I was shocked to find this dietary misinformation has been posted so recently. Saturated fat in the diet is no longer thought to be a cause of cardiovascular disease. High carbohydrate consumption and resultant chronic hyperinsulinaemia is now considered to be behind cv and other chronic diseases.
I've been a Carnivore for almost two years. My blood work is great, my BP is great, energy great, joint pain, back pain/sciatica gone, Psoriasis and UC (Ulcerative Colitis cleared and I was able to stop taking my post menopausaI bioidentical hormones (HRT). I also lost 22lbs without trying. This Christmas for three weeks I decided to go back to the SAD (standard American diet). All my pain came back, my Psoriasis came back, constipation came back, shoulder pain was so bad I couldn't sleep and I gained 9lbs!! I've been back in my Carnivore way of eating since New Year's Day and I've already dropped most of the weight, all pain is gone and the falling asleep in the couch Is gone too. I went to Carnivore because of the autoimmune issues and so many other qualities of life improved as well. Most people never guess my age because autophagy helps tighten skin while the muscle I'm gaining keeps my face fuller and my body from looking like a bag of bones. I'm 59yr old female, 5'9", around 134lbs. 😃
People live long healthy lives on high carb diets. It's the highly-processed "food" (which is high sugar, starch, protein and fat) associated with the western diet that's the problem. I've been vegan since I was 6, because of my upbringing (I'm 61 now) and I'm healthy and active and still working as a nurse. I've recently started a vegan keto diet to see if there are any changes to the way I feel. So far, apart from lower blood sugar, higher ketones and temporary keto flu, there's been no difference. Time will tell I guess.
@@kellibodony1077Why on earth would anyone go back on the SAD diet? Why not try vegan keto? There's no magical nutrient in the dead bodies you consume. You can get everything you need on a whole food plant based diet, with all the carbs, protein, fat, fibre and all the variety. It's the ultra processed "food" of the SAD and western diet that's killing us.
Fascinating information. I have just been told I have some calcification in the heart and have had an echocardiogram. I’m now waiting the results. I will definitely use this information on diet and lifestyles to see if I can improve my situation. Thank you so much.
To arrest -- and possibly reverse calcification of the arteries or valves, take 100 mg daily of Vitamin K2 mk-7. Take it with your vitamin d-3 and magnesium
At 31, I had a heart attack and underwent stent placement in the LAD. Pre-heart attack, my diet included heavy carbohydrates, contributing to health issues like skin disease, GERD, H. Pylori, depression, diabetes, and obesity. On statins for 24 years, I weigh 165 lbs at 55. Over a year, I shed 35 lbs with a keto/carnivore diet, cutting sugar and carbs. I began with a 12-hour intermittent fasting, transitioning to 4 months of OMAD, coupled with a 15-minute intensive exercise routine. Lab results post-diet change: A1c dropped from 6.5 to 5.8, triglycerides from 178 to 83, cholesterol from 188 to 192, LDL from 91 to 110, and HDL from 61 to 65. Despite improvements, my cardiologist dismisses the carnivore diet, ignoring UA-cam testimonials. Currently on 20mg statin (was 80mg, then 40mg, without informing my cardiologist). Seeking advice on whether to discontinue or decrease my statin.
Wife on statins for a decade got clogged arteries feeding the heart and first heart surgery. Again on statins for 8 yr and get aortic stenosis and a new mechanical heart valve in Jan 2024 called a TAVR procedure. Was in an ER enclosed room for a day and got infected with spike proteins from the vaccinated; been coughing w/ no fever for 30 days=vaccine side effects, me too. We are 74 but I'm a gym rat on ketovore and the wife is obese, refuses to eat well, or work at exercise. Her cough is just beginning to go away. TAVR is great but all could've been prevented.
My husband’s LDL level raised and the medical team in the industry that he works at wanted him to go on statins. Our own GP said that he doesn’t prescribe statins because of the side-effects and that the LDL level being high is generally misunderstood in the context of overall cholesterol ratios. There is exciting new research coming out basically debunking older theories on how cholesterol works in our bodies. It also examines the role of statins or the wrong diet and/or lifestyle stripping the protective cholesterol from our brains - contributing to ever-increasing levels of dementia. If you look from an evolutionary viewpoint, we were apex predators and carnivores for many hundreds of thousands of years before we discovered agriculture and started eating plants approximately 10,000 years ago. An animal based diet, perhaps with berries and fruit eaten just before winter to lay down fat stores (if available), makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint when looking at the span of genetic adaptability.
100 years ago, they worked 60 hour weeks, in dangerous, polluted, noisy factories. Fresh Food was scarce, living in overcrowded digs. Farm Laborers were practically "worked to death". it was Labor Unions brought about the changes in the work place that improved the Quality of the Work Life, that extended life itself.
This is exactly the information I was seeking from my neurosurgeon when meeting him recently to discuss a pseudo aneurysm that has developed. My mother and aunt both had ruptures. I have had so much debilitating anxiety over this and he just told me to live my normal life and take a baby aspirin every day. No response to my question about how to prevent or reverse using diet and lifestyle. I'm pretty active and a healthy eater but I wanted answers and guidance and he provided very little. Thankfully, there are some doctors, like Dr. Li, who are aware and willing to share this with their patients.
Excellent. Confirmed my thinking about the importance of good sleep and less stress. Very interesting on how it is possible to prevent and reverse damage to blood vessels. Great speaker. I understood everything he was saying and loved the sock analogy.
I've been following your diet for several months. My sleep is still a problem. Improvements are I have lost 62 pounds and my LDL cholesterol has lowered by 40 points. My doctor told me that I accomplished with my diet and workout as good as or better than a statin. So, rather than agreeing to go on a PCSK2 inhibitor I'm continuing with my exercise and diet for another 3 months to see if I can continue to bring down my LDL. I'm very fond of Nature's way than a pill or injections! Thank you so much for your commitment to share your research for the masses. You are a blessing to humanity!!!
Thank you. These are the questions I always wanted to ask. And to listening them being answered.was great. Because I suffer with high blood pressure. And my son had 3 heart attack. And had a stent put in his heart. He is now 56yrs old. Thanks for all your programs on health. ❤❤❤
You were GREAT !❤. You helped me a great deal for my husband he’s fire rescue operator & he taking calls, sitting most of the times, but he does get up & walk around. He does double shifts a lot. Your information was great! I will get those compression socks for him . He’s never complained about anything since years ago. I wasn’t looking for this information, but I’m glad I tuned into this video. YOU WERE GREAT! Keep doing what you’re doing! 😊
Well that was so interestingly put by Dr Will! Would be happy to learn more from him. He’s so easy to understand & listen too. Yes let’s have him again soon. I’ve long been interested in what he was saying about looking a diet & lifestyle changes instead of long term medication. GPs are only slowly looking at this. My daughter has been deeply involved in Social Prescribing for a few years since leaving the NHS via redundancy ( they always get rid of the most useful staff). As Co Chair of the National Social Prescribing network she tries to facilitate this to various groups & ultmately GPs & other health professionals who can then be helped to prescribe these lifestyle & dietary changes to patients ( who will then benefit as Dr Li suggests). A brilliant broadcast - thanks!
Absolutely brilliant. Dr Li covered a complex aspect of our health and what we can do to improve the damage we have done to ourselves. Very encouraging. Thank you
Great video, can relate to this, living with an incurable disease is so hard, but you just have to live life day by day as it goes by (Cancer sucks)...
it is never the end of the world, i had HIV but when a friend of mine recommended a healer and caster for me, and she helped me out and i am NEGATIVE now, i was tested twice and i am free now
Listening in US 6am eastern 3 October, audio fine Thanks as always, very informative, this definitely a feel-good & optimistic episode! Peace & love y'all 💙🌈💜
Recently been advised I have moderately high blood pressure and listening to Dr William Li was very helpful, although I eat healthy, there is definitely room for improvement on sleep and stress levels. Thank you! Dorothy K
Thank you very much for this video , I truly found it highly informative. I am most definitely going to take full charge of my own recovery from a heart desease which I have been struggling with for almost three years now . Thanks once again 🙏🙏🙏
Have been watching and listening to most of Your videos. Have incorporated all the food changes . Now I cook mindfully and give the same to both my sons and dad. Thankyou for enabling people have better health.God bless .Need more forthright drs like You. 🙏
One thing he seem to have missed was talking about new advance and understanding related to inflammation and insulin resistance as it relates to issues with the heart
Finaly a doctor who talks about ways to cure ourselves without drugs and surgeries. Bad news for the pharmaceutical mafia and good news for humanity. God bless Dr. William Li and the host .
Very nice discussion, I do wish they had gone into more details about the heart/artery health foods. Dr. Li touched on blueberries and chocolate so briefly , he must have a much better understanding of how specific foods affect the arteries since he studies the compounds for his research. Would love to hear more about the food
Hi Maryam - for best eating - eat nothing that has the standard government required label. Just eat fresh vegetables or if issue just frozen veggies. And eat organic pasture eggs, wild caught salmon, organic free range chicken and maybe little of grass fed beef. For something little sweet organic berries. All this maybe little more expensive than processed foods and non organic veggies but old saying very much applies - “pay the grocer or pay the doctor - one can decide”
I agree. Would love to hear more about heart-healthy foods. I think vegans and vegetarians are more in tune with this . Anthrocyanins were mentioned. Blueberries, aubergines (egg fruit). My understanding is dark skinned, purple, fruit and veg contain anthrocyanins. Red grapes, blackcurrants and the like. Would this be correct?
Good interview and information. The only thing I missed is the exact examples of food I should eat to improve my blood vessels. It was general information on that, such as less sugar and fatty fats and more plant-based stuff.
Amazing Amazing!! I loved this Pod Cast and thank you so much for it. May God Bless you both. Dr. Li I have learned so much from you. I went to a cardiologist, and he said I had a little buildup in my neck blood vessel, and he gave me statins, and I refused to take them. I am going to do what you told me to do because I believe that I can reverse that he said my heart was good and I don’t have any buildup in my heart so I am going to do what you told me to do. Thank you so much and God bless you. God bless you. God bless you .
Amazing video , I'm 49 my blood pressure was 160/120 (yes it popped up quickly) as the doctor said fiber, i eat 2 banana peels one twice per week (one every 3 days) yellow peel which are very high in fiber can buy banana peel flour , 4 weeks later 120/80 , half tea spoon extra virgin olive oil perday for gut health , raw onions which are Prebiotics feed good bacteria mouth and gut and clean your blood and yogut.
I developed hypertension problems during pregnancy in my mid-twenties. It was okay in subsequent pregnancies (29-32). Now I am in surgical menopause (ovaries removed) and suffer hypertensive episodes every time my HRT isn't high enough (usually during depletion drops of my reserves, or HRT gel homogeneousity is lacking). I would love to see an episode specific to hormones and blood pressure, when lifestyle, diet, and age isn't the culprit.
I've been on carnivore diet for 3 1/2 weeks and my blood pressure has dropped significantly. This afternoon it was 115/74, it hasn't been this low in a long time. It might be worth looking into. I do not take any medications either.
Totally agree, I do all of this my BP was fine 2 years ago it's gradually krept up, I've started BP pills a month ago, nothing's really changed, I'm convinced it's to do with my hormones as HRT helped at first, I reckon I've depleted further, but instead of checking hormones I'll be on the 2nd BP pill before you know it. Least I know I can't do anymore re diet and exercise!
Yes I developed high BP post natal out of no where, its only been 11weeks since baby so really hoping it will return to normal, i'm 100% sure its hormone related! watch york cardiologist his channel has a lot of good content on BP and the fact that sometimes the number isn't as important as people think.
Thank you for clarifying so much about our complex human bodies how to take control with utmost respect for our eating habits, exercise, and enjoy the benefits of relaxation with meditation. Love always learning! ❤
Great talk about statins, but you lost me at plant-based. The inflammation caused by your healthy fruits and high-carb veg/legumes cause the harmless lipids in your blood to stick to the walls. Started in 2013 low carb, lost 60 lbs, went Keto in 2020, lost another 20 lbs, ketovore/carnivore and now down 90lbs overall. Blood pressure 120/69, all bloodwork normal with exception elevated pattern A LDL. 1-2 meals a day with considerable intermittent fasting and never starving. CAC score of zero. Too much fluid in the system is caused by sugar, inflammation in the arteries and veins is caused by sugar (and smoking). Cut out the sugar (including the "healthy carbs") and the problems resolve. Salt and fat (including red meat) are NOT the problem, they are actually the solution.
My son was a patient at Mt Sinai Med Center, NYC in the late 80’s. As I left his room, one day, I noticed a nurse coming out of a room nearby… mostly my eyes popped in disbelief!! Behind her appeared a CLOUD of SMOKE??! …so much that I almost pulled the smoke Alarm 🚨…she smiled at me and walked right by…the stench from her uniform, etc., was Palpable! …so YES… those “smoking rooms” existed!
Yes. There is every Hope. Through fasting and changing to healthy eating habits my cholesterol is completely well within the healthy range. My doctor had wanted to start me on Statins about 3 years ago. I Refused. Started eating Low Carb High Healthy Fats and combined intermittent fasting and never looked back! It didn't take long for the numbers to start going the right direction. Especially love my HDL at 70 and Tryclerides At 47! A fantastic Ratio!!😉😎
This was the best explanation I have ever understood on High Blood Pressure meaning of the the measures. Thank you for this Healing information. Game Changer!
Dr. Li, around the 23.40 min. mark you are saying that lipids in the blood stream is a bad thing. If so why is it that when we minimize lipids in our foods our liver right away gets those lipids up back to a high level? Plus, you are blaming saturated fats in your diet for the high lipids, but I believe it has been shown in hospitalized people on restricted diet that the lipids in our blood stream come from carbs in our diet and NOT from saturated fats in our diet. How do you explain that?
Absolutely. I am surmising that: the tiniest blood vessels get blocked because they loose their elasticity and get plugged up. But the body can make collateral blood vessels; and also PERHAPS also through the process of autophagy recycle the damaged once. As we get older it becomes more and more difficult to create no vessels. Consuming Omega-3 from fish oils may lengthen the life of these small vessels because EPA , a component of Fish oil is essential for the health of the epithelium, in all blood vessels, big and small and tiniest of the tiny ones. There will be improved Insulin sensitivity and lower Fasting Insulin levels. And for autophagy to happen, we have to give our digestive system a break with 16 to 18 hour fasts each day.
We need to emphasize make a distinction between unhealthy eating habits and unhealthy foods. Steak isn't bad but unhealthy habit is doing it in excess. Ultraprocessed foods are just bad but not terrible if you have it on a rare occasion. Some people have selective hearing and some doctors have selective misinformation. Fats are not bad. They are wonderful for the brain, heart and body. The wrong fats are bad. Too much of the good fats could also be bad. The key is education and moderation. This is a great and well-balanced discourse!
All this talk about blood and vessels, as a healthy individual, has prompted me to look into donating blood. It's so needed and saves lives. My son had several surgeries for a broken femur. He had two transfusions over time both of which saved his life. I thank God for those selfless individuals that gave of themselves so my son and others could live. Amazing!God bless 🙌
I’m 79 years olds with Stage 3 Cancer twice in 2007 and 2020.
it hasn’t been easy. Watching and listening closely what Dr. William Li
talks about is so important. My diet was terrible, fast foods, processed foods, Soda,
eating pastries, donuts loved sugar. Thank you Dr Li may God Bless you. Please
continue we need more Drs like you.
Wow... you corrected this, nicely done.
I've grown very good with not drinking sodas but I wish I could not desire cakes and pastries but they're my vise!
I am 68 a nurse and. usually scared to watch programs about health😊Imade it through this entire program and feel so much better for going forward. Thanks so much

I think I don't understand what you are saying. Why would a nurse be afraid of listening to videos about better health?
Please watch “High LDL-C Cholesterol with No Plaques? New LMHR Study with Feldman & Norwitz”
I am not keto, but low carb (nix’d grains/flours/sugars and pasteurized milk products)
My lesson was stress induced autoimmune disease, which necessitated my cleaning up my formerly mediterraneaneasque way of eating.
The docs say nothing about what is dressed up as 'food' in grocery stores - their legacy and eventually their shame.
Dr. Philip Ovadia. He’s a heart surgeon, check him out.
I agree completely with Lori. Dr. Li is probably the clearest and humble MD I have heard talk about health. He knows his specialization very well and speaks very well too.
I am a diabetic(68)and enjoy reading the audience’s comments and their experiences as well as Dr.Li’s elucidative English. ❤
Dr Li is able to paint pictures with words. He's a gifted speaker, as.well as a subject matter expert. Top man.
Thank you. I am taking medication for high blood pressure and diabetes for almost 20 years. I would like to get off them, so I am encouraged to know that changing my diet can get me nearer to that goal. I am already active at 75.
*Five rules of a healthy lifestyle*
1.Diet
2.Exercise
3. Proper sleep
4.Closeness to nature
5.Right mindset
*Diet -*
1) eat 1 or maximum 2
times, don't eat anything
in between
2)don't consume foods that
are unknown to our body
such as tobacco, alcohol,
genetically modified
food,chemicals, pesticides,
fertilizer,Vegetable or seed
oil, Processed food,sugar,
Refined carbohydrates,
Packed food,frozen foods,burnt
food-food that turns black after burning
such as parts of barbecue
3)don't use plastic bottle,
tiffin or any
other pots to carry foods
or drinks. Use earthenware
or ironware only
4) eat whole natural food,
5)the macro should be
moderate in Protein, less
in slow digestive
carbohydrates, low in good
fat.
6. Source of natural protein - chicken,mutton,fish,egg,lentils, Tofu,paneer, soyabean,
Source of good fats - dry fruits, olive oil, coconut oil,
Source of good carbohydrates - Millets, oats, moosli,
2. *Exercise* -
1)some exercise for
movements like
walking, cycling, swimming
etc.
2) Some exercises for
muscles strengthening
like pull ups,sit ups,
dips,
Just as stagnant water rots, and flowing water remains pure, our body also works in the same way, mobility is very important for our body, our body is not made just for sitting and lying down, promise yourself. that from today itself you will get rid off a sedentary lifestyl. If you don't like going to the gym, try doing something else for physical activity that you enjoy, like a physical sport (tennis, running, basketball, soccer, etc.).
*3.Proper sleep -*
1) 7 to 8 hours of deep
sleeping
2) include 9 pm to 4 pm
timing in your
sleeping pattern if
possible that's the
time when our body heals
3) no light and noise should
be there at your sleeping
place.
4.Closeness to mature
1) walking on unpaved
ground like on soil,sand,
2) spending some time
somewhere where air
quality is good,and clean
natural water is available
3) touch the flowers and tree
whenever you get chance
4) sometimes gets wet in
the rain
5) expose yourself to the
sun for at least
20 minutes a day
5.Right Mindset
1)live a truthful, purposeful
life, spread love,help
vulnerables, thank God for
everything you have got.
consider yourself the
master of your work but
Consider the God the
master of those
work's results
2)have faith that if you are on a right
side,God will not ruin
you, if not here then you
will be rewarded in the
hereafter for your good
deeds i.e eternal life. if
your are not harming
anyone, benefiting the
needy with whatever
capacity you have,
surely you are dear to
God, don't care about for majority of
the people they are
selfish and wrong doers.
When God loves then
nothing matters.
Sat fat yum!
thanks for the summery!!
I appreciate that you took the time to write this summary.
Thank you!🌷

Don't forget to add plenty of healthy air and sunshine. 😊
Do you get 8 hours of sleep every night?
Excellent! Inspiring and helpful how you live your life
GOOD ON YOU! YOU GOT IT RIGHT.
Sounds great good for you ! What will you do in a year when the "lunatics in control" are culling the national Cows in Ireland to reduce emissions over that BS Communist Climate Change "Agenda" ? So disgusting and sad I hope the people there stop the monsters in charge
I don't believe this diet is best for most. No broccoli? No onions or garlic? No mushrooms? No avocados? No olive oil?
No thanks.
Love the way the interviewer gave questions and the doctor gave answers! So briefly, clearly and easy to understand! Thank you so much!
A very good friend of ours, a renowned professor of vascular surgery, always says, you are as old as your blood vessels. It makes total sense
I've said this for twenty years...I've got no education..it's just obvious and if I got it, how the hell did the medical professionals ignore the idea

We need an orthodoxy but not one so in hoc to monied Interests.
Alex miaburg that's OK but what to eat is so important as I've heart probs and b cancer the one is difficult to help without not helping the other
I noticed that Dr. Li!
It’s insane how good a communicator he is in person, but his books r even a step above this, ur right
I checked his book at the library on Libby, but then I wanted my own hard copy I could write in, so I bought one. I reread chapters now and then.

Is there any connection between wheat and heart disease? can someone explain.

So happy with this interview. I’m on carnivore but now going plant based. Have to take care of my blood vessels. I’m 80yrs young.
In my 20 I ate plants and fish. I found out I needed meat. At one point I felt hungry no matter how much I ate. When I ate meat in the morning, chicken, ground meat, steak I had no problem.
Nobody needs meat.@@peace1108
Did it help leaving the carnivore diet?
It’s all so individualized. I changed my way of eating a lot in my 80 yrs. What suits me sometimes does not other times. While on carnivore I wanted fruits and veges. So I went back. The thing is, your body tells you what makes it the happiest. I would listen to it!!
I say eat what makes your body happy! In the end, you will be better off and happy too!

Why no oils?
And omega 6 oils in grains are inflammatory, but omega 3 oils are antiflamatory.

I believe that having negative people in your life is the most dangerous to your health.😳😱🤦♀️ You have the right to protect your mental health.
Good for you

A refreshing, optimistic overview of the simplicity of maintaining a healthy heart and blood vessels. Thank you.
Dr. Li - You are such a gift! Every time I see you online I tune in, and my mood brightens. 😉 I always learn something, as your positive attitude leaves me feeling hopeful.
Then i went back to my normal diet (eating lifestyle, if you don’t like the diet word)… and allowed myself Pepsi and such… “just this one time” lol now I’m tired.. and have put back more pounds…
Time to go back to a better diet… less visits to the drive thru, less visits to 7/11.
(Side note, liquid death brand sparking water… berry me alive flavor is a hero for me! Replaces soda pop fairly nicely)
Raw natural foods is better. Put them in a blender to get them in. Add a little fruit if you must. Get more omega 3 from ground flex or chia seeds

No way statins. Way too many awful testimonies. Most of the functional docs say no to it as well.
My sister stopped taking statins. She switched to taking Super K2 or K2 or you should regularly take Japanese natto which promotes heart health.

I LOVE dr William Li. I bought his book and I feel great.
And they died young….

Well said..
Bingo
Meat is the solution. And that's why there's such a campaign against it

Absolutely. I am surmising that:
the tiniest blood vessels get blocked because they loose their elasticity and get plugged up.
Thank you both very much for the most revealing discussion on health and nutrition.
