I was a Universal Monsters freak. One year for Christmas, my parents got me a set of Mego monster figures. Mego didn't have the rights to do proper Universal Monsters, so their version was the, "Mad Monsters." There were four generic look-a-likes of Frankenstein, Dracula, the Wolfman and the Mummy. Close but no cigar.
I remember the Gobots cartoon made it to TV before Transformers premiered, so I spent a good chunk of my childhood thinking that Transformers was actually a rip-off of Gobots.
Yooo junkman love your videos and Chanel it’s is killer thank you …. You showed the galaxy ranger knock off butt I’m shore you know was a real show and these figs are hard to find always wanted the figure line bad .. Thank you.
These are the toys my granny would get at Sky City (anybody remember those stores?) and we would have to act like we were excited to get them so we didn’t hurt her feelings 🤣
Larry, You are a lucky Wompa to have such a wonderful lady in your life. Even if her jealousy can be difficult to deal with sometimes it’s a small price to pay to be able to go through life with your soulmate by your side. Besides she has a great set of T?#$!
I had some of the rip-off GoBots. Thanks, Grandma. She also gave me sweaters and every time I'd ask for Star Wars stuff... she'd get me Star Trek stuff. I wished for a Large Sized C3PO for Christmas... and she got me a Mego Star Trek alien wearing a dress. I traded it for a Strawberry Shortcake doll. Because who wants an alien in a dress?
Not sure if Im remembering right but something makes me think the starroid raiders were mascots for prepH hemroid cream kind of like tartar control crest had the cavity creeps.
@That Junkman The origin of the word ''Tron''. In contemporary use the term actually springs from two ancient Greek words. Following the invention of the first (Vacuum Tube) or 'Kenotron' around 1904. It's creator British engineer ''John Ambrose Fleming''. Came up with the name by combining the Greek words for 'Empty' (Keno) and 'Tool' (Tron).
Breastman? I remember there was a Galaxy Rangers TV show. IIRC, my brother liked it. When I was in third grade, I wrote a team-up story of the GoFormTron Force (Go Bots teaming up with Transformers, Robotron, and Robo Force, even though I had only one Robo Force and no Robotron. with the Super Friends, but I think my parents threw it away. :(
It’s crazy how much some of the ripoffs and bootlegs change hands for on eBay at the moment. I always had a soft spot for the Transformers/Gobots ripoffs Convertors. Still have the Pinball Machine and Roulette Wheel robots.
I remember having "Clash of the Titans" action figures. Had a major flash back with the Starroid Raiders. Had a couple of those figures, on sale at Kresge if I remember.
My brother had Secret Of The Ninja …we incorporated them into Our He Man figures. Commando Force? I never heard of that…in fact quite a few of the generics mentioned here I never heard of. Interesting video.
there was a bionic bigfoot figure he came with the six million dollar man action figure doll line in the 70s he was about 14 inches tall when he appeared on the tv show
Well, everyone addressed Galaxy Rangers, but let's talk about ChargerTron. That toy actually was legit and had a commercial. It wasn't considered generic.
Good. UA-cam doesn’t care. A up and down is the same. It tells UA-cam people are interacting with it. Better than not doing anything. So thanks so much
@@ThatJunkman That's right.I forgot about that. It was a combo toy of Steve Austin and Bigfoot, some kind of toy structure (a flying saucer?) came with it. I wonder if anyone still has that? THANKS JUNKMAN!
As a kid I'm sad to admit I was a bit of a toy snob. That's not to say I didn't own a few of the knock off figures. One of the best iis the Sgt.Rock Bad guys series that really helped my Joe's have more baddies to fight.. As an adult collector I absolutely love the variety of vintage knock off figures and am happy to add them to my collection. I'm currently collecting the Starroid Raiders which is an extremely hard line to collect. Love your Revco references.
@@ThatJunkman lol.in which case, good job with the timelines n such, its not specifically a shot at u, there is a lot of youtubers who don't do the work and then it spoils the strength of the well constructed vt, it really was the galaxy rangers that where the problem, duly because they weren't a copy, they were their own product. But agreed, the rest were blatant foolishness.
Did you have to highlight the casual racist terminology of "Spook Chasers"? I get you're trying to make your content more entertaining (Galaxy Rangers were cartoon based toys so that was laughable how you got that wrong) but that racist angle you'd scripted says more about they who drop it for entertainment value. Casual racism, eh... disappointing.
Ok delete what I posted about what the joking about, cause I think your take is funnier and it works also and better. Even more so cause my grandpa said a lot of racist things
@@ThatJunkman Come on, dude - it's blatantly obvious. They use the term in the last act of Back To The Future as a racial slur also. As you said "It was a different time". Anyone with two braincells would call that without it being a "Southern" cop out.
I knew some Spook Chasers growing up, they were a-holes.
Galaxy Rangers wasn't really generic, they had a TV series.
Used to watch it as a kid. Wasn't too bad. But, you know... lack of research again.
Galaxy Rangers was outright superior to Bravestar.
@@VirginPrince Hmmmm I liked both!!! But yea not a generic line, just not popular, since the series was only on for maybe 2 seasons.
When I was a kid I wanted Galaxy Ranger figures but we never got them in the states. I think only Europe and Brazil got them.
And karate kid isn’t either. Also having a tv show doesn’t mean one isn’t generic. Go bot is the generic version of Transformers ;)

i LOVED gobots. to me they were far more useful droids then c-3po or 21-b was during the invasion of castle grayskull!
If anyone else catches on to what your grandpa meant you could get flagged
moonshiner term but seems so are taking it the wrong way as always :)
Galaxy Rangers cam one year before Bravestarr. so Bravestarr is the ripoff
I remember the Gobots cartoon made it to TV before Transformers premiered, so I spent a good chunk of my childhood thinking that Transformers was actually a rip-off of Gobots.
They should have made Tron vehicles that transformed into Tron Tron figures!
Funny part is a lot of the ripoff toys are at the dollar store.
Definitely remember generic heman. They also used those guys as wrestlers.
Yooo junkman love your videos and Chanel it’s is killer thank you …. You showed the galaxy ranger knock off butt I’m shore you know was a real show and these figs are hard to find always wanted the figure line bad ..

*Charger Tron

When I hear Robotron I think of the arcade game from the 80s by Williams
I had the Farmboy Spook figure

Brave Starr may have had a show but it was still pretty c team
It’s “charger” tron.
Love me some bootlegs.

I had me a few of them rip offs. Mostly remco stuff. Like pirates of the galax-seas.
It’s crazy how much some of the ripoffs and bootlegs change hands for on eBay at the moment. I always had a soft spot for the Transformers/Gobots ripoffs Convertors. Still have the Pinball Machine and Roulette Wheel robots.

I'm a Brony who collects action figures and ponies! Another fun video!

Who wins in a fight Galaxy Heroes or Commando Force??? My money is on Galaxy Heroes.
Ngl, I kinda want a Changer Tron 🤣
Even as a kid, I loved the cheesiness of knockoff toys!
"Generic Version of He-Man" by The Junkman is charting at #4 in the country this week.
You forgot to mention, Adolescent Mutated Samurai Reptiles. Lol
Ha, Revco! I haven't thought about Revco in 30 years!
I laughed way too hard over Grandpa’s Spook Chasers….
there was a bionic bigfoot figure he came with the six million dollar man action figure doll line in the 70s he was about 14 inches tall when he appeared on the tv show
Where's the "John Fogerty action figure?" =[O
Did you say Hemorrhoid Raiders?
Oh sorry, that was Starroid Raiders. My bad.
That Spook Chaser joke - wow - funny stuff!
Junkman regarding ninja figures did you watch The Master in the 80's? Starred Lee Van Cleef but not many people remember it.
seen a few of them
It was featured on Mystery Science Theater 3000 a couple of times.
Love em. good show , huh ?. Cool. they said you saw JJ Cewa ? .... nah ...
Robotron 2084 (the unrelated arcade game)
Well, everyone addressed Galaxy Rangers, but let's talk about ChargerTron. That toy actually was legit and had a commercial. It wasn't considered generic.
Yes amazing so many don’t get the video
Galaxy force? Wtf. Nice one Larry Glad someone is on point
ahhhh... the "Rustlers" of action figures
I will buy a Spook Chaser just for the name alone.
It’s like if I took Xenoblade and made a ripoff called it Xenogears!
Lol that spook chasers joke is the best thing I’ve heard all year
When I think Joe ripoff, I think Corps.
I remember that Buddy L toys 😆
Galaxy Rangers is way better than Bravestar
Everytime I accidentally click on this channel it gets the thumbs down 👎
Good. UA-cam doesn’t care. A up and down is the same. It tells UA-cam people are interacting with it. Better than not doing anything. So thanks so much
BraveStar had a action figure? 😃
Galaxy Rangers was its own cartoon series.
I HAVE THE GENERIC VERSION OF THE POWER!
sorry , forgot to thumbs-up ! good post.
Good show Sir👍Thank you
Robo Tron lol
I love these
Hi junk man sounds alsum
I just realized this, why hasn't anybody ever come out with the Bigfoot action figure, or doll?
They did. From the $6 million dollar man line

Great video again! 👍
I had a some generic GI JOE figures called "The Corps", used them as mooks for the main heroes to attack! ! 😸
I thought we'd see Star Wars but to the right of Adventure People....
Yeah, I said it! Out loud too.
dude, come on, im not sure if this a serious skit or if you just don't do the research??
This isn’t a history list it’s a silly top 10 for fun. Don’t take it seriously
