I ❤ THE MONSTAAAAAH , I love troma films, they're the most exploitative offensive teen films I've ever seen in a grindhouse before, best comedies, horror, and etC.

I saw The Toxic Avenger by accident one October night on G4. That first kill with the kid totally traumatized me. In hindsight it wasn't just because of the brutal gore, but it was really the utter callousness of the drivers intentionally committing manslaughter that really broke me.
@@smokeymcbongwater I looked it up and Voluntary Manslaughter is quote "s any intentional killing that involves no prior intent to kill and which was committed under such circumstances that would "cause a reasonable person to become emotionally or mentally disturbed". The distinction in this kill is they wanted to run the kid over and kill him, But they were Drunk.
@@Tartubeman the district attorney would likely file both murder and manslaughter charges in this case but IMO the jury would likely find them guilty of murder (and a DUI) because they had a whole game they were playing and were seeking out victim(s) -- meaning they had prior intent to kill, intentionally seeking someone who fit their criteria, and did so. Manslaughter in comparison is them riding behind the boy on his bike, getting frustrated with how slow he is going, and impulsively running over him in violent frustration. Depending on what evidence was available for the prosecution to use against them at trial, the defense counsel would probably push the bullies to plead guilty and try to negotiate the district attorney down to a manslaughter charge on the plea deal. that's my take though.
I always like how nuanced James is when dealing with controversial topics and elements to films when doing these. Also it's amazing they made a kids cartoon out of it!

the toxic avenger is literally the all time greatest superhero troma entertainment has ever created like how captain underpants is the all time greatest superhero george beard and harold hutchins has ever created
I always really appreciate how much James cares about other people. While I’m not a huge fan of the sorta “offensive humour” in general, it was kinda sweet seeing James point out how 1, the characters saying and doing these things are inherently evil and (mostly) get their comeuppance by the end of it all and 2, documenting the parts of the film that were both great and not so great for those taking part in it as well as advocating for more safety measures while filming. Of course we can say “it was a different time” and all of that, but what we really need to learn from this is to approach these sorts of situations with care, to ensure that we document this sort of humour in a way that doesn’t involve making other people uncomfortable.
I read somewhere that in the original version of the film Julie had her hair cut instead, which is why it cuts away during her 'kill'. With the reason being that she showed compassion for Melvin when he was writhing on the floor outside the health club.
YES! FINALLY WE GET PROPER TROMA! Here's to hoping more of it will come to the channel, they're absolute blasts and they'll definitely fit the channel's style. James also spoke beautifully about the movie in the beginning, the team really has a love for cinema and horror
"I'm sorry, I have no idea what came over me!" says the creature of superhuman strength and size after killing some criminals in a gruesome manner. Always makes me laugh.
There's something John-Waters-ish with many Troma films. Thank you for covering this one! I saw it years ago, and the "child on the bike" scene managed to disturbed me - I'm amazed this film managed to get made! Thanks again for all your work!
I saw most of this movie in 1985-6 at the age of 7 at my best friend's house, until we got caught watching it!....probably way too young to see it, but it definately left a mark on me! The way its delivered the graphic deaths are almost comedic! I watched it again in its entirety in college.
I went to a screening of the original at the end of last month, there was Mark Torgl there along with Lloyd. Mark was the nicest person, and Lloyd didn’t let anyone pay for a signature. The entire time he was rocking a baby blue 2Pac hoodie. It was awesome.
Awesome! So happy to see Troma get on the Kill Count! Always had this up there with Basket Case and Street Trash as NY sleaze classics. I used to have a UK 18 rated version of this that ran for just over 70 mins. Seeing the Uncut version years later was an eye-opening experience! Thanks for this one, great to see some old 80s indie movies.
My dad used to joke about earning points for running over pedestrians when I was a kid (my family is very pro dark humor and horror), but I never realized that bit came from this movie until I watched it in anticipation of the Kill Count. It was a fun/weird revelation.
Saw this a kid in the 80s, along with every other extreme movie like Robocop, etc, and the ran over head is by far the "kill" that affected me the most. I was absolutely shook. Lol
I absolutely love how this movie pairs camp with gore, and I love how it's now on the Kill Count! I watched it before this episode and it was a wild ride!
After all these years of James getting his hopes up for covering it on a kill count but unfortunately never having the opportunity, It’s Troma time and it’s here to collect some long awaited debts. Great job on this as per usual, Dead Meat team
I always bring up this bit from IndieWire's review of TITANE for this film, because it works for it too: "it’s hard to tell if you’re watching the most fucked up movie ever made...or the sweetest movie ever made."
I actually saw this movies a few years ago with my old friend group since we use to have a "Bad movie night" every other month. And this movie was by far one of the best "worst" movies we have ever seen! I remember us all cheering for anyone who Toxie killed. Being high also watching this movie was also an experience. Anyways I'm glad you finally covered this movie !! Unfortunately the sequels ( In my opinion) don't have the same amount of charm to them.
Saw this in HS around ‘03-04. Really thought it was over the top. Love the channel and your support in your beliefs. Good on you! This took me back a bit and I appreciate your channel. Be well, stay hydrated, and be safe!
That first kill is so memorable in how absolutely horrendous it is. Watched this movie as a kid and that scene still sticks in my mind. The groaning of the kid, the crunching
I just watched this last night and I think it may be the first movie that is punching down and up at the same time. The four actors playing the bullies just killed me; they're so committed to playing these horrible people as broadly and ridiculously as possible and I love it. And the romance between Sara and Melvin is genuinely very sweet.
This was a wholsesome episode. Its rare to find a film with a monster that the city loves and accepts. Thia film teaches us a lot about how ti focus on whats inside us rather than what we look like on the outside. We just have to ignore the brutal fatalities.
Despite all the changes over the years, Dead Meat has consistently been one of the best channels on UA-cam, with every change made being a good one. The only thing I could ask for is maybe if y'all could try doing some horror tabletop stuff. I know y'all play D&D, but have you seen Shiver? Mothership? 10 Candles? Y'all would have a hell of a time.
Broken record here, but keep it up y'all! Going weird is honestly one of the best things to happen to the kill count and I'm all for it. Much love and great job sticking to your guns and continuing to support the Actors strike
oh my GOD! i remember watching this movie REPEATEDLY when i was a kid but could never remember what the movie was called. i tried googling it but nothing ever came up/looked familiar!! this just brought back so many memories, i didn’t realize how crazy the movie is until now. thank you james!!
Loved watching these slop movies with my dad at the drive thru back in the day. Also its crazy how wholesome the minds behind troma are given the content lmao
this movie is tonal whiplash personified. It goes from sickeningly morbid to heartwarmingly wholesome on a dime. The same movie where a kid gets run over by a bunch of delinquents for their own amusement. Has an entire town celebrating a hero despite his disturbing appearance and gruesome methods.
Seeing those two men give eachother credit for a cool stunt is so nice to see. So many times you have people in the industry debating stuff down to the lines and who wrote them. Love seeing the teamwork with them.

Nope still funny
He doesn’t seem to care very much when he says being offensive isn’t “necessarily a bad thing”.
@@punklover99”I find it funny when minorities get harassed and cishet white men gloss over it”
@@super8bitable yeah because it's funny
@@super8bitable oh no an over the top movie has offensive things. You're a good little sjw aren't you
I read somewhere that in the original version of the film Julie had her hair cut instead, which is why it cuts away during her 'kill'. With the reason being that she showed compassion for Melvin when he was writhing on the floor outside the health club.
Why I prefer the Japanese cut, since it has that scene completely intact.
YES! FINALLY WE GET PROPER TROMA!
Here's to hoping more of it will come to the channel, they're absolute blasts and they'll definitely fit the channel's style.
James also spoke beautifully about the movie in the beginning, the team really has a love for cinema and horror
The best part of this movie is Toxies maniacally laughing as he’s driving himself and Bozo off the cliff. Gets me every time
Every time you use that Brad Douriff shot I laugh too much
NO MATTER WHAT!
Awesome. i Was Skippy The Kid on The Bike. Very Cool Video Bro.
That made the movie.
7:45 most people try to take credit for good ideas I really appreciate that they compliment each other and give credit where it’s due more or less
Still insane to think this film managed to get an animated series, then again you can say that about most r rated films that came out around the time.
Robocop, Rambo come to mind. Then swamp thing

Much like John Waters' films, everybody in Troma films YELLS their dialogue
The “kid” in that scene is an interesting person to follow on Social Media. 😂 😂
Rest In Peace kiddo
24:40 he specifically did this to show how hes jacked
14:43
He passed away in 2019, sadly.
Very sad indeed
I saw most of this movie in 1985-6 at the age of 7 at my best friend's house, until we got caught watching it!....probably way too young to see it, but it definately left a mark on me! The way its delivered the graphic deaths are almost comedic! I watched it again in its entirety in college.
I went to a screening of the original at the end of last month, there was Mark Torgl there along with Lloyd. Mark was the nicest person, and Lloyd didn’t let anyone pay for a signature. The entire time he was rocking a baby blue 2Pac hoodie. It was awesome.
Oh my lord the way zoran looks like he’s gonna cry rubbing James’ back 😂
The toxic avenger is literally one of my favorite movie franchises ever, I do not care how bad people think these movies are.
The first one is the best
I really love the relationship between Melvin (Toxie) and Sara. They’re super cute together and perfect for each other. ❤️

James and Zoran have this goofball and goofier goofball dynamic that I really really enjoy. I don't know how else to describe it.
Lmaoooo fr fr
24:58 zoran looks so traumatized (or should i say troumatized) 😭😭
“Damn dude… you couldn’t come before the dog got shot?! Or that guy… I guess…”
Lmao Never change, James. Never change.
i’m glad there are still more schlocky 80’s movies for james to cover
My dad used to joke about earning points for running over pedestrians when I was a kid (my family is very pro dark humor and horror), but I never realized that bit came from this movie until I watched it in anticipation of the Kill Count. It was a fun/weird revelation.
Saw this a kid in the 80s, along with every other extreme movie like Robocop, etc, and the ran over head is by far the "kill" that affected me the most. I was absolutely shook. Lol
Murphy’s demise in robocop?
@@ethansaint #2 on my list as a kid, for sure. By that time, I had already seen this so it wasnt as shocking.
There's something special about these gore effects in 80s movies.
James listing all the ways this movie is offensive was basically a list of what makes it awesome.
11:28 What's Up Guys
I absolutely love how this movie pairs camp with gore, and I love how it's now on the Kill Count! I watched it before this episode and it was a wild ride!
I remember first watching this movie in the mid/late 90s. Based on the cover art it was definitely not what I was expecting. It’s a classic.
I’m so excited that James did it, he covered The Toxic Avenger, my all time favorite Horror Movie
I wonder if he’ll do the sequels
I saw.
This movie at 6 years old and was severely traumatized. Now I'm all growed and i love it.
This movie legitimately traumatized me as a kid. Specifically the bike kill. I still have nightmares of my head getting run over to this day.
you think The Toxic Avenger traumatized you as a kid Winnie The Pooh: Blood & Honey traumatized an entire classroom of 4th graders
^their teacher couldn’t even choose a good horror movie to traumatize them witch smh
After all these years of James getting his hopes up for covering it on a kill count but unfortunately never having the opportunity, It’s Troma time and it’s here to collect some long awaited debts. Great job on this as per usual, Dead Meat team
the Kill Count is at it's best when they cover movies of this calibur and nuance
After I finish watching this kill count.. I wanna do it again! I WANNA DO IT AGAIN! LET’S DO IT AGAIN!!!!!
I always bring up this bit from IndieWire's review of TITANE for this film, because it works for it too: "it’s hard to tell if you’re watching the most fucked up movie ever made...or the sweetest movie ever made."
24:48 This is actually what James says every time someone new subscribes to the channel
TOXIC AVENGER TIME
Saw this in HS around ‘03-04. Really thought it was over the top. Love the channel and your support in your beliefs. Good on you! This took me back a bit and I appreciate your channel. Be well, stay hydrated, and be safe!
That alleyway fight is one of the most hilarious fight scenes in cinema history.
That first kill is so memorable in how absolutely horrendous it is. Watched this movie as a kid and that scene still sticks in my mind. The groaning of the kid, the crunching
19:19 NOOOOOOOOOOOO
ONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
FIGHTS LIKE TOXIE!
NO ONE MOPS LIKE TOXIE!
NO ONE EATS THIS MUCH EGGS IN ONE SHOT LIKE TOXIE!
5:48 It’s crazy how a yell ruined someone’s chance at presidency back in the early 2000’s yet…look how far we’ve fallen you guys 😂😂
But it did sound exactly like the guy 😂
17:15 “let this be a lesson to ya hot ass!”
Toxie would fit VERY WELL in Mortal Kombat 1 DLC
*screams*
"I guess they have a lot in common" got me more than it should have
I just watched this last night and I think it may be the first movie that is punching down and up at the same time. The four actors playing the bullies just killed me; they're so committed to playing these horrible people as broadly and ridiculously as possible and I love it. And the romance between Sara and Melvin is genuinely very sweet.
The podcast was so fun I was ecstatic to see this movie get a kill count!
Zoran crying was priceless 😂
24:58 i need a behind the scene discussion on this scene because it catches me off guard every time i watch this count 🤣🤣🤣
I saw the Toxic Avenger YEARS ago and I absolutely loved it. It’s campy as all hell, but it’s also just so genuine you can’t help but love it.
This was a wholsesome episode. Its rare to find a film with a monster that the city loves and accepts. Thia film teaches us a lot about how ti focus on whats inside us rather than what we look like on the outside. We just have to ignore the brutal fatalities.
24:47 u h.....
u h m.....
I do think the sequels are worth watching I think two is pretty fun
Despite all the changes over the years, Dead Meat has consistently been one of the best channels on UA-cam, with every change made being a good one. The only thing I could ask for is maybe if y'all could try doing some horror tabletop stuff. I know y'all play D&D, but have you seen Shiver? Mothership? 10 Candles? Y'all would have a hell of a time.
Absolutely love Toxic Avenger. Troma films are nuts. I hope you cover the other Toxie movies.
