  • The important distinction between Wabi Sabi and the experience of Sabi are discussed, along with a tour of an old Arbutus tree to demonstrate the qualities of Wabi Sabi and how spending time in these settings can foster Sabi.

Nice video! I’ve been learning about wabi sabi for a couple of years now, since I started delving into making art and expanding my photography. A friend introduced me to kintsugi also. I’m tossing around plans for a photo zine or series using the 7 elements of wabi sabi for inspiration. I love to explore the woods and photograph what I find. All the best to you in 2024!

Thanks Julie, It is interesting how folks who resonate with wabi sabi seem to gravitate to the same kinds of activities and forms of expression. I hope you do your zine or series. Strike while the inspiration is strong. 🙂

Hey thanks Alexander, I appreciate you checking it out and commenting. After watching it again I see I repeat myself a fair bit in the beginning, but I still like the last part with Sister Jane. Still lots of learning with this video stuff!

    Hi Richard.
I'm glad I found these two videos of yours.
I will definitely look into the Wabi Sabi phenomenon.
I only work in black and white.
I tried to work in color last year but that's not my thing.
What is certain is that I'm moving towards Wabi Sabi photography.
This is a wonderful way of photographing and at the same time a wonderful philosophy in this time of consumption.
Everything can and should be a little less.
Beauty can be found in everything, even in the ephemeral.
I have already found several websites and photographers that I will follow and study.
Also, Sara, because she goes deeper into it to get to the core.
    Kind regards from the Netherlands,
    Antoine.

"Everything can and should be a little less." that is very true. Glad to hear how your journey is going. I worked in black and white for years but am a convert to colour. But for wabi sabi, I can see that black and white can really help with mood and texture. Warmest wishes for success in your creative work.
