  • Sometimes a simple additive to a popular fishing bait can make all the difference. Graeme goes back to an era when fishermen caught Barbel on fatty baits like BACON RIND !! Check out the film to see one of his old school baits that he used on the famous Hampshire Avon river.

  • @majmat

I can see the lard mush being a problem in the summer, unless you use a coolbag, but for them cooler days it'll be spot on.
Have you though of hair rigging the lard slop and use extra large quickstops or a piece of dry spaghetti instead?
How ever you use it i'm sure you'll catch plenty of big barbel, carp and chub on both baits.
I'm always experimenting with different food items and dry dog/cat food ground down to a powder for groundbait and paste.I've found the dry tuna fish cat food to work very well as a paste.

Hi Graham...you went to see a "baitmaster" recently; whilst he made boilies with flavourings & colour etc, and he spoke about making DUMBBELLS from using a 10 mm TOP rolling section, and a 14mm table section...was this correct or was it the opposite way around...i.e. 14mm top rolling section and 10mm rolling table base, as i am interested in trying this...thanks matey...keep these vids coming....i love them...i am similar age group to yourself, so you will always get my vote as i remember so many of the things that you bring back to life with your vids & blog...cheer DM.
