0:59 Technically Thor is stronger than Odin after Odin dies. As we know from the comics at least, when one blood family member dies (generally the men) their power is transferred into the other surviving members of the blood related family. They can then tap into this for greater power. (The Odinforce/Thorforce) When Odin's father died, his power was transferred to his three sons. When Odin's two brothers died Odin obtained all the power from all the men in his bloodline since the last Ragnarok. During every movie other than Thor Ragnarok, and Infinity War, Thor was nowhere near the power of Odin. Not even close. But since Odin died, Thor technically has access to the Odinforce now along with his own innate power. Thus making him stronger than Odin was when he was alive. Even if Thor's power is insignificant compared to the Odinforce, adding more power to already existing power makes that power greater. Even if by a fraction. (But we know that Thor is strong on his own, and actually lends a lot to the Odinforce.)
Yeah. I don't think that happened. We saw a power boost in Ragnarok but I'm pretty sure that was the whole "The hammer isn't what made you strong" bs, not the Odin force. Also, as mentioned in this video, Odin has shown feats (whether directly or in mention) as a product of the Odinforce. Thor has done nothing spectacular other than shock people w/ his fingers as a new found power. If that's the effect of the Odinforce on Thor in the MCU, then I guess you could say he did inherit it. Also, in the comics Odin didn't get the Odin force b/c his brothers and father died and he just inherited it. His brothers sacrificed themselves to give their power to Odin, thus creating the Odin force to kill their father. And how can you say for certain that Thor is stronger even if he did inherit the Odin force in the MCU? Do you know how strong Odin was before he inherited the Odin force to compare? Thor is stupidly weak in the MCU. I understand why they did it, but Thor is trash.
@@pohump I didn't say that Thor used the Odinforce. I said that Thor inherited the Odinforce, and added it to his own power, thus making him technically stronger. The statement made by Odin is technically correct. The joke made at 0:59 in the video is that when Odin sais this to Thor the editor is laughing at it as if he thinks it's BS. I'm simply saying that despite not seeing the power, he does technically have it. Thor doesn't show any feats that are superior to Odin, but it doesn't mean that he can't surpass him. Also, Odin's brothers sacrificed themselves to give their power to Odin. Which is exactly what I said. Each of them had 1/3 of the overall Odinforce from their father. (Then likely called the Borforce?) They knew they couldn't beat Surtur as they were so they sacrificed their lives so Odin could unleash the full power of the Odinforce and defeat Surtur and put a stop to Ragnarok. It had nothing to do with them fighting their father. To answer your question about how do I know Thor is stronger than Odin? How do I know, because we've never seen feats from Odin to suggest Thor is stronger? Think of it like this. You have a glass of water. That glass represents Odin and his Odinforce. Right now it's 3/4 the way full. Odin dies, and passes the glass with all of it's contents on to Thor. Thor represents 1 single drop of water. Thor then adds his power to that glass. Now the glass is 3/4 + 1 drop full. It has more water (power) in it than it did when only Odin was in possession of it. Even the smallest drop of power, is still power added to the overall structure. In this case, the Odinforce which is all the power of all the men in Thor's bloodline since the last Ragnarok. I'm not saying that Thor on his own is stronger than Odin on his own. I'm saying that Thor after Odin dies is stronger than Odin because of the added power. We didn't see the Odinforce in the movies. I doubt we will. They haven't explained it yet in any of the movies. (I don't believe. They may have made a casual mention of it at some point that I'm forgetting) If they didn't use it so Thor could defeat Hela, than I doubt it'll come up. Especially with "Marry-sue Marvel" on her way.
Saimeren I understand what you’re saying about Thor’s raw power plus the Odin force. What I’m saying is, how can you determine in the MCU that Thor + Odin force is stronger than Odin + Odin force? Of base Odin > base Thor then no, Thor is not stronger even with the Odin force. More over, the Odin force is just that. It’s Orin’s. It was not passed down by his father to him. It is an amalgamation of his and his two brother’s powers combined to defeat their father. That is not what you stated in your first comment. Your statement was that they died and their power was inherited by Odin. And also, how can you say we haven’t seen the Odin force in the MCU? Odin summons the bi frost in jotinheim, he strips Thor’s power, puts an enchantment on Mjolnier, enters the Odin sleep. Those are all bi products of the Odin force. Why would he enter the Odin sleep if he hadn’t expended the Odin force?
Saimeren and to your point, what I’m trying to say is if Thor is 1/4 cup and Odin force is 3/4 of a cup, then by what you’re saying, Thor is now 1 cup. But what I’m saying is what if Odin was 3/4 and + Odin force made him 1 1/2 cups?
@@pohump What I'm saying is that Thor didn't just inhieret what you believe is the Odinforce. The Odinforce is literally the power of the people before them. Bor died, and his essence; his power; was split between his three sons. During Ragnarok both Ve, and Vili sacrificed their lives so that their portion of Bors power would transfer to Odin. This then created what Odin calls the Odinforce. It's one whole of what was previously 3 thirds. That's how it happened in the comics. And I said that Thor is stronger than Odin because of how the Odinforce works. It takes Odins power, plus the Odinforce (the power of previous ancestors) and adds it to the next son. (in this case Thor.) So Thor now holds his own power, Odin's power, and Odin's version of the Odinforce. Since Odin died, his own power was added to the Odinforce. When Thor inherited it, he inherited all of Odin's power. Everything that you feel is so much better than Thor; Thor now has. Odin was merged with the Odinforce, and now Thor controls that. That's why he's more powerful. I'm also saying that if Thor is 1/4 cup on his own. And the Odinforce in Odin's hands is 3/4 and Odin is 3/4 cup, that makes odin 1 1/2 cups. That still keeps Thor at 1/4 cups without the Odinforce. But when Odin died and passed on his power to Thor as well as the Odinforce, the Odinforce is now 1 1/2 cups because it contains all the power of Odin himself plus the Odinforce as it was when Odin had it. That makes Thor 1 3/4 cups now. It all transfers. Odin, being the Allfather, has "domination" over all Asgardians. This means he can strip them of their power. That's just one of Odin's powers as being the Allfather. Thor gains that power later on too. As for the enchantment, that's Asgardian magic. Both Frigg, and Loki use it all the time. As for summoning the Bifront? Odin's staff does this. It works the same way as Heimdall's sword. We see this when Loki uses it to try to destroy Jotunheim with the Bifrost. Even if he didn't use his staff (which he did because he had it in his hands during that scene) he has access to "dark magic" which can summon the Bifrost. (as mentioned in Avengers when Loki asks how much Dark magic had to be summoned to get Thor to earth, as well as when Heimdall using it to send Hulk back to Earth.) Odin enters the Odinsleep because even if he's not using the Odinforce, it drains his essence, and he needs to rest every so often to replenish his strength.
You're incorrect in saying that there's no example of Odin's speed. During the end battle of the first Thor movie, as Thor was about to destroy the Bifrost, Odin wakes up at the first hammer strike. When the Bifrost explodes and Thor and Loki are sent flying, Odin was there to catch them. This means that Odin was able to get from his sleeping chambers in the castle at the center of Asgard all the way to the edge of the realm to make the catch in less than a minute. I'd say that's pretty damn fast.
Yes Odin can use teleportation Hell even heimdall can use the "bifrost" via dark magic The "bifrost" is more of a device to make it more reliable to use But i believe that Odin& frega can use its spell to teleport and they transmit that spell to the guardian of the bifrost which is heimdall
If you check out Because Science channel who talked about the power of the dwarf star that Thor used to great Storm Breaker. They said that the beam shooting through Thor was like 1 million+ suns exploding on him. So if that tells you how durable Thor is, then imagine Odin
it would stop being a burrito if it's so hot that it turns to ash and then it's atoms disintegrate. and thor survived it ( being hit by the full force of a neutron star).
odin's speed has been shown in thor 1 when in the odin sleep he opened his eyes and appeared instantly at the point where thor and loki were falling after thor destroyed the bifrost
Well he is a master of magic I bet he even knew in thor 2 that Someone entered his timeline As he had his crows gathering info for him If his wife can see the future Why not him
They should do an Odin prequel trilogy in Marvel tbh: Movie #1: Odin defeating Surtur Movie #2: Odin conquering the 9 realms with Hela Movie #3: Odin changing his morals, defeating Hela, and becoming the protector or the 9 realms.
I think something that was overlooked in this video is the enchantment Odin casually put on Thor's hammer. This enchantment was so strong the only person who could break it was the Godess of death. It was shown that quick silver, a fire demon dragon thing or even the hulk couldn't pick it up all because of a few words odin spoke onto that hammer!
ego the living planet? I'd say he's up there with the other elder's of the universe, even though they say they are "Celestials". but who knows MCU is a little crazy cuz they have to do certain things to make it all work.
I wish Odin's eyepatch story wasn't one of losing it in a fight. I wish they had gone with the comic book route where he gave his right eye for infinite wisdom. I was also REALLY hoping Thor would do the same thing. I was hoping he would give his eye for the wisdom of how to defeat Hela, and then he would have gone and done the whole unleash Surtur thing. And could then reference it again in Infinity war when he has the plan to go get Stormbreaker made. Would have been better than Hela simply cutting at Thor's face and creating a wound that a slashing sword wouldn't be capable of making.
I was so bothered by the fake thor eye, they should have either left the eye patch alone, OR like you said thor sacrafice both his eyes like in the comic at the well of mimir, and then just had like blue glowing lightning eyes....I mean he is a god after all and now the king of asguard. I just wonder with that axe if he's technically Rune King Thor, but idk.
I actually like the MCU version more. The idea is that instead of literally giving up an eye for wisdom, the loss of an eye through violent combat (the war with the frost giants) acted like a catalyst for Odin being more of a wise king. Remember that it's after that war where he lost his eye that odin and asgard sorta withdrew from worlds and decided to just live peacefully. He even adopted Loki mere seconds after the loss of his eye. It plays out similarly in Ragnarok where, after losing his eye, Thor has a vision of Odin and is finally able to gain the wisdom to realize he has his own power. Of course, after getting a "new eye", Thor goes wild against Thanos and, instead of "going for the head", tries to make the Titan suffer. A clear lack of wisdom. Not sure how much of this was planned out but I think it works better overall than "he gave up his eye and just kinda got infinite wisdom" imo.
I would love to see an Odin prequel moive taking place in a time long before Thor was born. A time which Odin is around the age that Thor is today and played by a younger actor. Possibly Liam Hemsworth to better capture that resemblance, he would just need to build the muscle for the role. It can include the original battle between him and Surtur, the raid on the Storm Giants, his father Borr, a younger Frigga which will be his romantic story arc. The climactic act could be against the Midgard Serpent whom is threatening to devour the world tree Yggdrasil, thus when Odin defeats the serpent he is then crowned King of Asgard and protector of the nine realms. There could even be cameos or references to the Infinity Stones. I'd watch the shit out of that movie!
Awesome bro :) You should do MCU Thor vs Captain Marvel when the film comes out. Apparently she will be more powerful, but Thor overpowered a desperate Thanos with all of the infinity stones, so I have my serious doubts.
@@grandmasterdragonborn6841 yesh he did say that, which I think is stupid, if you have two people who can solo the infinity gauntlet thanos is no threat anymore tge good thing about thor having this power is that it comes from stormbreaker which he can loose in one way or another

Imagine if Thor: Ragnarok established that Thanos was Hela's former lover and her 1st executioner when she challenge Odin for the throne of Asgard. Then Odin imprisoned Hela and Thanos run away and only start to collect Infinity stones after Odin die.
And I think this thor is half god. Odin is all god. Frigg is a witch which means shes mortal. So Thor is a demigod like tony said in A1 so Odin must be atleast 2x more powerful than thor.

Odin is very fast, u can see it in the scene where the bifrost was destroyed, when Thor and Loki was about to fall down odin awake in a moment and rescued them
@Jarl William As in Magni could lift more than Thor could. In terms of who's superior, I think Thor is/was better fighter than Magni, but he wasn't as physically strong as his son became after him, when they existed (if they were real people).
@Zandris Hugal In the movies tells is like 3000 years old Thor is half of that 1500 so I mean she has way more experience but he will eventually learn to use his powers to the fullest
You neglected the greatest feat of speed in the MCU and it was done by Odin in Thor 1. When he awoke from his Odin-Sleep he near instantly appeared to save Thor and Loki and given from the lack of CG portal-y-ness and the whooshingness of Odin cape I can safely assume he is the MCU top speedster.

Odin didn't defeat Surtur alone, his two brothers Vili and Vé fought him alongside Odin, they died in the battle. Before they died they gave Odin their power creating the Odin Force, this power should have passed to Thor, but would have made Thor unstoppable, like King thor in comics. This would have made Thor far too powerful for Thanos in beginning of Infinity War. Also Odin didn't lose his eye in battle, he sacrificed it for the gift of untethered wisdom.

(Then likely called the Borforce?)
They knew they couldn't beat Surtur as they were so they sacrificed their lives so Odin could unleash the full power of the Odinforce and defeat Surtur and put a stop to Ragnarok.
They may have made a casual mention of it at some point that I'm forgetting)
If they didn't use it so Thor could defeat Hela, than I doubt it'll come up.
(in this case Thor.)
So Thor now holds his own power, Odin's power, and Odin's version of the Odinforce.
(as mentioned in Avengers when Loki asks how much Dark magic had to be summoned to get Thor to earth, as well as when Heimdall using it to send Hulk back to Earth.)
Odin enters the Odinsleep because even if he's not using the Odinforce, it drains his essence, and he needs to rest every so often to replenish his strength.
In norse mythology Odin gave his eye up for infinite knowledge from Mimir

@@JustANormalManungsa we know that you fucking jackass
You're incorrect in saying that there's no example of Odin's speed. During the end battle of the first Thor movie, as Thor was about to destroy the Bifrost, Odin wakes up at the first hammer strike. When the Bifrost explodes and Thor and Loki are sent flying, Odin was there to catch them. This means that Odin was able to get from his sleeping chambers in the castle at the center of Asgard all the way to the edge of the realm to make the catch in less than a minute. I'd say that's pretty damn fast.
We don't know whether that's teleportation or speed
@@charlescooks9360 true, it's never explicitly shown but I don't think Odin has ever had the power to teleport, or else why use the Bifrost to travel?
Odin teleported Thor to earth in first avengers movie.
Yes Odin can use teleportation
Hell even heimdall can use the "bifrost" via dark magic
The "bifrost" is more of a device to make it more reliable to use
But i believe that Odin& frega can use its spell to teleport and they transmit that spell to the guardian of the bifrost which is heimdall
Odin can travel the multiverse this feat would be nothing for him even while weak

@@TheHOBGamer I believe he is stronger than planet level, I know the MCU makes some characters weaker, but i don't know if they him this much weaker.
The non MCU tale of Odin losing his eye is much more compelling imo. He sacrificed it for greater knowledge, which in turn gave him his massive power.
According to nordic mythology Odin gave away his eye in exchange for knowledge
And ragnorok always still happens
Obviously when The Ancient one died (time stone) and Odin (tesseract)... Thanos started his move.
Saimeren Well it’s not only the comic route but the comics followed real Norse mythology, surprised they didn’t do that to be fair.
@@xaoc6084 if they did, thor would be the biggest butchering asshole in the 9 realms
In norse myth, odin gave his eye to humanity so that humans will aquire knowledge and not be stupid
"Odin flexed so hard it sent loufy flying"😂😂😂😂😂😂

Odin: YOUR UNWORTHY!🤬

Thank you. You highlighted something I take issue with in Marvel. Odin gained his greatest power by sacrificing his eye, not losing it.
Who all wants to see Oddin in action, a revisit to Oddin's past
