Great video! I totally agree! Mike over at the Ingroove said the same. He hates those Bio/Eco/Recycled vinyl! He constantly saying it on his channel. Hope they stop!
first time i hear about this ,thanks for doin the video jc,vinyl quality is the most important part of the music ,might have to start buying more cds again ,again thanks for the info cheers !!!! happy sunday !!!!
With the outrageous prices of Vinyl records we deserve the highest quality Virgin Vinyl available for all pressings not just for so called audiophile pressings. This is just another nail in the coffin for Vinyl IMO 😡
That sucks, you’re not the first person I’ve heard that from, it’s too bad certain artists are going down this path, hopefully it will be a very limited amount of artists, awesome video brother 👍🤘🤘
Bit of a hot take here (and I love records), but if I asked one of my kids to listen to a copy of any vinyl album in my collection and then compare it to the sound of the cd version, 99% of the time they are going to say that the cd sounds better. Vinyl offers the better overall presentation by far but cd sound is greater by every measure. And I have been collecting vinyl since the 80’s. My comments are not in any way meant to discourage people from buying records, just know going in that if it is recorded digitally and that digital source is transferred to a piece of vinyl, some sound quality will be lost. I could be wrong, but maybe your family does not listen to CDs very often, thus imagine their surprise.
I've had my doubts about how much The Cure really care about how their vinyl records sound after all of their picture disc RSD reissues. Who does that?
Big thanks for the upload on this subject !!! 🥶 ive never heard of this " Bio Vinyl " thing, and very much dont want to... its a scary thought that I might buy by accident ! Can't refuse to buy if I don't know what yo look for ... 😂 Whats the easiest way to spot this before I buy ?! Specially anything that im planning to buy from online shopping! Thanks and have a great New Year ✌🙂
Thanks for the info 👍 Will 100% keep my eyes open from now on 😊 I'm very nervous now to buy anything 😅 I might leave it out in the day and it turns in to dairy before my eyes ... Lol
Too many variables here to put all the blame just on bio vinyl. Perhaps it is the pressing, the mastering, or the audio system... I'm not saying bio vinyl is great, but perhaps the issue lies somewhere else.
Vinyl is vinyl. Yes, I have the vinyl and the CD . CD sound better I will agree. ( I'm a huge vinyl collector +4000 ) I think that even on black vinyl it would soon bad anyway. Try to fit 49 minutes on a vinyl , impossible it would sound good. ( max you can put is like 44.30 ???? ) I have the B E too. Sound OK , just OK........ on my Rega rp-6 ....
This is new to me. I hadn't heard about this before.Things like this, are going to hinder the vinyl boom I'm afraid. As well as the rising cost! I know that Mondo has been offering "Eco pressings" which as I understand, is them using leftover pellets from other pressings and mixing the colors together.
Eco / recycled vinyl nothing new unfortunately, but it is happening more lately. I’ve also completely sworn it off. I’d rather have a picture disc any day of the week.
Wow! Great information, I had no idea about this bio vinyl apparently it uses plant based sources like cooking oil in it, that can't sound to good, I am familiar with eco-wax King Gizzard uses that a-lot, but that is just left over pvc pellets from other pressings, no salad dressing involved, lol! Thanks for the info, I will definitely pass on anything pressed on bio vinyl.
You too? I just recently jumped back into CDs after making my 1991 videos and re-discovering how fantastic (and low maintenance) they sound. Sure, late 90's/ 2000's CDs can sound awful, but the early 90's ones sound great and I've found out that the ones released today like The Cure one sound superior too. I did a sound comparison with the vinyl version and the CD blew it away. Last week I bought a few used CD's, it was the first CDs I had bought in about 8 years.
Unfortunately, it’s becoming an increasingly popular trend with a growing number of artists, so unless a whole bunch of glaring alarms all go off about the negative aspects of using it, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the momentum continue to build in favor of using it. Some artists, such as Coldplay, are pretty insistent on using it
But isn’t Bio-vinyl just a fancy new name for re-cycled vinyl?? Like a new name that is more Eco minded / politically correct hip marketing strategy. Re-cycled vinyl is the vinyl shavings and bits & pieces of unused vinyl in the pressing stage which has been used for decades. I’m not absolutely positive on this but it is my best guess.
I bought the injection molded Coldplay Eco record made from pop bottles, just to hear. A material with next to no static properties, the album was quiet. The cons were that the highs were slightly muted, but other than that, good audio quality. I am the guy who is always complaining about how awful colored vinyl sounds ,this is better.
I didn't even know there was a thing called bio vinyl! I played a new album yesterday and it sounded kinda fuzzy and I was thinking it's shoegaze type stuff and maybe it was supposed to sound like that. Maybe I'm wrong. In this case there isn't a CD that exists. Oh well..
The main reason I didn't buy The Cure's new album (in addition to the ever-increasing cost of vinyl up here north of the border), was the across-the-board poor reviews from Discogs and folks on UA-cam citing the extremely poor sound of eco vinyl. If they can find a formulation that works and sounds as good or better, I'm all for it. If not, I'm out. Simple as that.
You are aware there's 2 different masterings of this right? One by Miles Showell and one by Bernie Grundman Also.. if you knew it was pressed on eco/bio vinyl why did you buy it?
I'm all for helping the environment , but agree that Bio vinyl sucks and should stop . There are other ways to help the environment . I wonder if Robert Smith realizes this ? Plus wasting Bernie Grundman's talents too .
Great video! I totally agree! Mike over at the Ingroove said the same. He hates those Bio/Eco/Recycled vinyl! He constantly saying it on his channel. Hope they stop!
This is why alot of people have gone back to CDs..
I have two bio vinyl releases, and I think I agree with you. I wasn't sure but recently, I've come to the same conclusion.
I hear that
Great video… I guess I’ve been oblivious to bio vinyl thing. No idea what’s even been pressed on it. Ughhhhh
Cheers☘️
It's bad

Yeah, Mike's right, it's a problem!

Your welcome

Yea man, i feel you

That sucks, you’re not the first person I’ve heard that from, it’s too bad certain artists are going down this path, hopefully it will be a very limited amount of artists, awesome video brother 👍🤘🤘
Ty bro let's hope
Was it labeled as biovinyl on the packaging somewhere? It would be nice that way we can avoid it.
Definitely it's on hype
Save the environment, buy and encourage the use of bio vinyl, or whatever it's called, and buy the cd for the sound quality. Seems simple enough.
It's like they want to create new problems before even solving the ones in the present!!
Def man
If you stop buying it, they will stop making it.

I've already learned. Do not buy bio vinyl eco vinyl or anything thereof... It just defeats the purpose of buying vinyl.

Cry of love that a great band peace pipe hell yeah

How do we know if it’s bile vinyl?
They normally put it on the hype

Yeah it's getting crazy.
Do we have a choice not to buy biovinyl? Will the records be labeled as such?
Depends on the artist
Hey Josh. Yep! Couldn't agree more. I too have said Bye Bye to Bio! Cheers

I'm going back to CD because of this.
Good idea

So sad
If you're buying a Coldplay album to begin with you deserve what you get
Wow I didn’t know this was an issue before you talked about it earlier and then in this video. This kind of crap will destroy the vinyl market.
Definitely bro
Maybee i don't remember but there were something with the package on the newest Coldplay then i get that.
This was the package not the sound.
what the heck is bio vinyl? ive never heard of it.
Recycled vinyl
@ oh wow. weird. but ok.
But isn’t Bio-vinyl just a fancy new name for re-cycled vinyl?? Like a new name that is more Eco minded / politically correct hip marketing strategy.

Definitely bro
I've never heard bio vinyl
Don't do it
@@theflipside-vinylcommunity ive never heard bio vinyl either,so avoid it ,huh?
Bio vinyl....... sounds like a bioweapon against record collectors.
This is not really a problem because modern vinyl collectors don’t even listen to the records
What world are you living in
