I’m surprised that people have already forgotten about the supply issues of only 2 years ago. Rude people don’t see themselves as others do. I understand your desire to explain your situation again because that is who you are. We are not in your shoes, but the majority of us wouldn’t even ask. Hugs.

Linda, that was the same summer our a/c went out too, and the company we were going with at the time had to wait for a part to come in before they could fix it, which turned out to be much longer than we had hoped, so we ended up finding another a/c company that was able to come out fairly quickly and fix the a/c thankfully!

I have found that explaining oneself to strangers on the internet is at best a waste of time and at worst invites abuse. These people are often bored and unhappy. They want to misunderstand what you’ve said. Giving them the satisfaction of knowing that you are concerned may be a mistake

I remember when you bought your car and you did the very best you could. It was a terrible time to be buying anything. I can't imagine anyone criticizing you on the things you needed to purchase. Obviously, they weren't needing to buy things at that time. My dishwasher went out in my apartment at the beginning of the pandemic. I waited a little over a year before my apartment complex could replace it. A friend in NM is having to replace her heating and A/C unit right now and I think she told me it was $14,000 and that wasn't even for a heat pump. In the southwest, refrigerated air is just something we need. In the TX panhandle we get down to negative wind chill temperatures so yes, heating is also a necessity. I don't know why these people think they can always do better.

For some reason people seem to conveniently forget about the time factor. When something happens, you don't always have the time to solve it the way you normally would when you aren't in practically an emergency situation. They also forget about limited choices you have no control over. Had it been me that lost 5 major big ticket items within a couple of years, I'd have curled up in the corner in a ball.

I cant believe people actually wrote in and complained that your air conditioner was too loud. They must have acute hearing or perhaps their hearing aids are turned up too high? Such sensitive people. I used to watch a cooking show and somebody wrote a comment and complained to the host of the show that she used too much water when she washed her vegetables. Imagine that. People just invent things to complain about.

Trying to buy a new or used vehicle here in BC Canada between /20 & /22 was virtually impossible. Car dealerships were offering top money for used cars, and no one was letting go of theirs. The new prices were so inflated, and even if you wanted one it would take months if not more. My girlfriend's stove went on the blink they ordered a new one (gas), and it took her 7 months!!. That was in /21, and they ended up using their barbeque and small appliances to fill in the gap. We also bought a new furnace and central air in /23.. prices had gone up, and we paid $16 K Canadian. Thankfully, we were prepared and able to pay cash. I'm really enjoying your video's...love that they are short but full of great wisdom. Thanks for sharing.. 💓

In your part of the country, an a/c is a must. Pulls the water out of the air first before the unit starts to cool. Hence, the word 'conditioner" for the air. It also helps prevent any mold-mildew issues. Cross venting with portable fans while sitting or sleeping helped me quite a bit while keeping costs down. And am considering the most expensive options of installing double rod curtains. But still not sure how much extreme weather savings. Lots of other smaller insulation gadgets and energy savings one can do. Have been a frequent apartment mover in my lifetime. Apartments can be limited. Am investing in mostly portable items,. My Refletix came with me. Very helpful in my last place. But my floorplan and different climate an hours drive away, I do not have the same use for the project in the last place. Am thinking one or two creative projects. Each place, floorplan and climate is different.

I totally understand the car issue. We, too, purchased a used vehicle in 2022. My husband happened to drive by the Toyota dealership and saw a Highlander that just came on the lot that day, so we jumped on it. It wasn’t a deal, either, but has been reliable and we’re happy with it. 👍

The same thing happened to me. I needed to buy a washing machine and they were all sold out. Had to wait a long time to get it. The virus made it so difficult to find large appliances during that time. It was such a drama and a headache at the time. So glad all that is over now. I think people forget how it was. At the time China was in a complete lockdown and everything was made in china back then. The world has only begun diversifying the supply chains away from China. I think it’s amazing how quickly people forget how hard it was to find so many products. How empty the grocery stores were. It was a wild time.

lol Too true! I was told last year that there would be no more repairs available for my 1998 HVAC system. I had it replaced (in its entirtly) last week because I know in my heart that it would have failed on July 3rd. It was costly, but my research shows that by doing this in relatively cool April here on the Gulf Coast (I'm in Houston) I saved myself 2 - 4 weeks with no air waiting for a unit on backorder and about $3000.00. My dishwasher has to be replaced, and has been out since January. I did the research and know that the new models come out in June, so May (memorial day sale weekend) is the time to buy. My plan is to visit Home Depot the last 2 weeks of the month and get an nice inexpensive floor model at a discount. I am so grateful that I have choices. Love you MoneyMom

Hi Dawn, We were in the same situation as you with buying a car. Right after the pandemic my car got totaled also by a large SUV that rear ended it. It was a new car only six months old. So once again I had to shop for a car. There were no new cars & few used cars available. We paid way too much for the only new car we could get & had to put a down payment on it before it even arrived. You are so right about things happening at the wrong time to be able to bargain.

My used car will sell for $36K. It’s leased for a specific reason. I won’t buy it out, Toyota! I don’t feel like I’m part of “the family”. I chose the car, I’m on the lease, I will decide what happens next. They are calling my husband and have ignored my request for a pick up truck, which I would pay cash for, nope, not one call. Toyota will lose a new car purchase and a used truck purchase. I don’t take well to being ignored in business. They will learn, locally, it will bite them. Oh well, I’ll think of that as much as they think of me!

We love our Ford Fusion! It's a 2016 and we got it in 2019, with 50K miles on it. We've got about 100K miles on it now...live in Montana and travel long distances for everything...and have had no issues. Well, one time the power steering went out and it took a bit to figure out that a rabbit had chewed through the wires. It was quite an ordeal because my husband, who is our mechanic and overall mr. fixit for everything, was trucking over the road then. When he was home he'd fiddle with it, try something, then have to head back out on the road. One day I happened upon a video where the guy had figured out it was rabbits that caused his power steering issue. My husband checked and sure enough!

Have you asked the company to come back and listen to your system to see if there is a problem? Systems aren't supposed to sound like that. I've been in thousands of houses as part of my job, and never noticed any whistling from an air conditioning unit. At any rate, I would ask them to come and see if anything can be done. You may need a different kind of filter on it because it could be sucking too hard through a too-dense filter or loose filter. I had to change my filter that is in the ceiling when I first built this house, because the standard filters rattled. So now I custom order my filters through a filter company in the next city over. Do this: pull the filter out while it's running and see if that makes a difference. If it does, it's an easy fix.

@@CentsibleLivingWithMoneyMom Ever the one to try to figure stuff out, I looked up and found an article: "Reasons Why An Air Conditioner Is Making A Whistling Noise" by HVAC Boss. It lists reasons you can have a noisy system, and some of it is easy to fix yourself. Just thought I'd pass it along.

Anyone that says you paid too much for your heating system has not had to pay for one recently. We replaced our 25 year old system March of 2023 and got sticker shock. We did get 3 estimates and the prices we all about the same. We went with the middle of the line system and signed up with their yearly maintenance plan. When you have a maintenance plan with a company they will service their existing customers before a new customer. Thanks for all you do.

Seams like you did pretty good for what you had access to. I’m sure most of the people in the comments including me aren’t familiar with the pricing of goods and services in the Dallas area so who are they to say anything?
P.S. I wouldn’t worry about the emblem on your car, Toyota is definitely known for its longevity but keeping up with maintenance is probably more important. I have a 2011 Chevy Malibu and it just rolled over 200k miles!!!! I have not seen comments about your car myself but, it’s one thing to pick on and banter if it’s invited but if people are genuinely making fun of you because of your car that’s just shallow and rude. And I do know for a fact that just because a car has a certain emblem that doesn’t mean that company made it. When Chevy had the Spark, that car was completely manufactured by Nissan, but it got chevy branding and was sold at Chevy dealers. I don’t know much about Ford but it’s possible you might not have a Ford at all, so you can throw that at the rude commenters HaHa.

Why did you feel you had to explain yourself? People can be just plain rude on the internet. Don't waste precious time trying to make them understand.

Just started watching your videos a few months ago and love your comment. You are alot nicer than i am, this video concerning what you spend your money would have been much shorter if it was me, it would have said "its none of your business"....some people just get on my nerves when i read comments. Also, I wish i had your maytag washer that lasted 25 yrs, im on my 2nd one in 4 yrs, this one being a warranty replaced and its on its way out...I will never buy another Maytag.

The prices for used cars here in Western Australia have only just started to drop 🤷‍♀️ my 21 & 20 year olds don’t have cars yet, they were finishing up high school when Covid hit. How quickly people forget!

We had this issue in 2021 with gas logs. 2 choices, neither that great.
Only 1 place had them at that time.
Then finding someone to install them was a problem.

I'm not sure why anyone cares what kind of car others drive. Normally people buy something they like no matter the make. Nothing wrong with Ford, Toyota, whatever floats your boat! When someone else starts paying my bills I guess then they can tell me what I should purchase. 😊
