Azir/ Irelia is nerfed to oblivion in the latest patch, like no longer top tier. And I haven't seen TF/Fizz in-game since pick a card change, and definitely wont after rummage nerf. What I mean to say is that LOR does a great job balancing, while with new releases there is always the chance that a deck might be better than others, they always make changes in the few patches after to balance out the game.
The devs said that bladedance gameplay was okay and they don't need nerfs, during the patch it was added and community metrics showed it had by far the biggest slice of games and one of the highest winrates. Sure, they nerfed it, but not even in the next patch. All from mindlessly throwing cards out of hand and pressing confirm attack 5 times a turn. I stopped playing lor because of that deck (after almost not missing a day before). Can no longer trust them making the game interactive.
@@TheOblomoff welp, they nerfed it pretty fast anyway. Secret mage in HS remains the most degenerate deck to play for a few years at least, and it's still less fun than Azirelia.
I quit hearthstone a little while back to play this game, and I can say it was one of the best decisions I made. Not that HS is a bad game, just that this game is much more F2P friendly and it feels better to play knowing that I can have more than one or two competitive decks
Love the game Oh there's a big way to fix one of your two problems A 10/10 will be blocked by a 2/2 it happens and you don't hit the nexus But keywords like *Elusive* *Overwhelm* *Fearsome* Spells like *Atrocity* Champions like *The Blindfold Guy who kicks* Can counter this
LoR is great! Also, the first "con" is not a con, it is part of the mechanics of the game and its strategic depth. The more you play, the more you like the back-and-forth thing.
@@Solemhs It's important to note that the back and forth eliminates the need for summoning sickness (forget the name in HS) and allows you to actually feel engaged for the whole game. I HATED that in HS you can literally walk away on your opponents turn, because there isn't a game to play...
@@Solemhs the bit where you say about a 1/1 blocking a 10/10 is called "chomp block" and it doesn't work everytime because there are certain keywords like Overwhelm, Fearsome or Elusives that fixes the con you are talking about. Overwhelm still gets the damage through, you can't block a fearsome unit with 2 or less power, and elusive units can only be blocked by another elusive.
This is great haha Grapplr can't hit allegiance in a mono deck and you're hittin left and right. Also your first human match against Leo Yas good luck haha
Legends of Runeterra is a great game- everything people say about it is true. Very strategic, fun, inexpensive to play, and beautiful art and animations. However, I quit playing it, because priority gets passed back and forth between players within a turn. I think this is really bad design for a digital card game, since your opponent could be an asshole who likes to waste your time, or a noob, or might just have a bad internet connection. It's generally much more frustrating to wait for a stranger to let you play while you have a quest to complete, than to wait for a friend who you are seeing in person make their decisions. And as much as people like to shit on Hearthstone, at least they got that fluidity of the game right, really streamlining it for the digital medium. In HS the only way to interact with your opponent on their turn is through secrets, which trigger automatically.
to be fair is true, I have a couple times run into someone who just ropes every action they have after they know they are gonna lose, but at the same time, it's been literally just those 2 times, I've never had the problem of waiting a lot everytime for my opponents action and I like not having a set amount of time for my turn like in HS, I can actually take longer to think what to do and to read my opponent's cards if I dont know what they do. I'm not into many card games but im pretty sure the attack back and fort or the chaining actions with your opponent is pretty common in a lot of card games (digital at that)
The only reason you need to spend money on this game is if u want some cool-a*s Board, skins, cosmetic or other things that u could flex on your enemy that u have a lot of money
I love seeing you seeing the magic of Runeterra (including the amount of free stuff just for existing, and even more if you just do the dailys, that result in 1 legendary and much more)
i havent played for a year and a half, basically i left the game when it was still in beta. But i still watch some of the content creators like MegaM0gwai & Grapplr (both highly recommend), since it is still fairly easy to pick up and understand whats going on on the board even if you havent played in a long time. Just need to read some new keywords and cards and you are set to continue
"If you play it for a year you'll probably have all the cards" I only need like 8 more epics but now that there is a new expansion coming it's going to take like 3 more weeks, but hey it's fun so whatever.
I've been playing LoR since beta and even tho I don't play that much, I still have nearly every card in the game, if I wanted to do that in hearthstone I'd have to spend like 1000 dollars. Speaking of which, hs heavily favors p2w players, while in LoR you can't get much advantage by spending money which is amazing and healthy for the game.
LOR its the best cardgame in the market right now. Its really free to play, its balanced, its always getting new stuff, and, most important, it have all good mechanics from other cardgames. It have turn base strategy like magic, what makes the game more competitive and brained to play, and the hearthstone fun and crazy value stuff, withou being all RNG. Its a great balance!
Another pro for people interested in tournaments, you can play official tournaments and there's a qualifier each season that anyone, without spending a cent, by being on the high ranks or by playing a last chance gauntlet can qualify for a tournament spot. I'm not someone interested in that, but I've heard a few people also mentioning it.
I started playing this game 3 or 4 weeks ago and for now I just play for fun. Besides the decks that the game gave me I made myself only one deck which is relying on killing The Undying and boosting They Who Endure. It has some control in it,but it's not a very good deck, just because The Undying is a very risky card to use.
Undying decks are always risky as you say, but pretty fun when you get to make him huge. There's a ton of different decks you can try as you get into the game, obviously there's always tier lists but you can get great matches with your own decks even if they aren't great.
Switch to this last year from heartstone, I have been having alot more fun. Also if I do play somedays of the week I dont feel bad since missing gold isn't that important such as in heartstone.
If you continue to play in a match during to see the effects of whats going on like if certain actions will kill a champion, a spell effects a certain thing and so on you'll click on the blue eye in the middle of the two Nexus (known as the oracles lense) you can see what is going on or what is happening with the current board state during an attack ,defense or spell is going through.
Runterra is pretty fun. The only thing that annoys me about it is the fact that it seems like there are barely any viable control decks (likely cause Lissandra Trundle Control seems to beat most other control decks). Other than that it generally feels fairly varied and has an overall great player experience.
Since it's new it still has that strategy aspect, especially due to the mixed turns mechanic. I can definitely imagine that changing though. Like other card games, the more the devs add the more volatile the game becomes.
I didn't know watching someone new play and learn would be so satisfying. Definitely would watch more of this. Also at the end of the video you mentioned music as one of the pros. I love it as well and it's also cool that all the different boards you can buy have their own music and they are all amazing. I'm pretty sure they are all here on YT if you're curious.
''Can we level up Garen again?'', my boy, you are in for a treat with Renekton, Naus, Azir and maybe Xerath once he is revealed (they can level up to 3 since they are Ascended, unlike the other champions). I can't GAREN-tee that Xerath can level up to lvl 3, but we will see soon enough.
I like the fact that it's f2p friendly but I don't like the gameplay, I feel it's confusing and stuff happens so fast for a game that has a lot of keywords I know Yu-Gi-Oh, magic and even Pokemon TCG are more complex then runeterra but I'm not a big card game hardcore player and hearthstone really is welcoming for casuals, everything feels more simple to understand
Switched from HS to Magic Arena, than switched from Magic to Runeterra and I've stuck with Runeterra ever since. There's no better free to play game than LoR, every new set released I can craft every card with the currency I save for months. All you literally need to do is win 3 PvP matches a day and that's it, that alone will get you enough currency for each expansion. This game takes way more skill than HS, it's less RNG and more skill.
Hey, I dunno If you checked it out already, but there is a really fun PvE mode (Lab of Legends) that is kinda like a roguelike game were you have a series of challenges and you build a deck with random cards and extra powers that you can pick after every Win. It can get pretty wacky If you get some powerfull combos and there is a wide Variety of starting decks and random powers to chose from, and It can get pretty Hard in higher difficulties. It's a good mode for new players since you can use a wide variety of cards and you don't need a collection to play the mode at all. And you also get the same exp in this mode that you would get in PvP matches, so you can make a lot of progress on your vaults and region roads and then you will be building all the decks you want in no time. Lab of Legends it's also a good way to make content because it's always different and you can challenge yourself on harder difficulties, or make your own restrictions (like Swim's challenge of clearing the mode without ever attacking).
HS is plain obsolete compared to Terra, both mecanically and in terms of monetization, there's just not much else to say really; played HS from launch to about Old Gods, left, wandered the OTCG realm and finally found Runeterra at the end of my journey.
What makes this game better than Hearthstone? You can actually pick your targets. Hearthstone is literally all RNG from start to finish. it’s ridiculous.
What i love about runeterra is that u dont have to play against ppl if u dont want to. There is a game mode in the labs where u have to win 9games in a row vs the CPU, u begin with a small deck that u upgrade after each win with random cards and unique passives. The CPU decks never change but yours always do, making this mode a rogue light, so u can play it again and again to find the best synergies. U dont need any cards to play it, u can take ur time to play and know what u will face after some runs so it is the best thing to do when u begin LOR and improve.
So basically there are no cons because the first con can be said for every single game out there that has different gameplay, the gameplay makes the game unique so it is not even a con it is just how the game is. for the second one, it is just a downside of it being a free to play game and i would take that any day of the week instead of getting broke and go homeless to get be able to afford a single deck on hs. and again compared to hs for the same amount of money you would spend on a deck in hs, you can get literally like half of he shop in lor.
hey solem, guy that doesnt play the game every day, i was feeling burnout of legends of runeterra a month or two-ish ago, but the game gives so much stuff i just had enough banked to not have to stress about not affording decks, that wasnt even the first time i had done that, so yeah, f2p is nuts
yeah, I have too leave and go back to LoR since release and I'm happy to know i can make new decks and get new cards everytime I come back. I just started again 2 weeks ago and already made like 3 new decks. very different from HS, I have grind that game for gold for year because I like it and didn't want to spend money, I finally gave up 4 months ago and is sad to think I can't really go back to standart or play new cards unless I spend money, no way for me to get stuff with gold when I'm so behind.
Skies descend wasn't castable in that boardstate (you need units on the board to discount it enough to be castable), but yeah, he def misplayed by not opening there. Still won though, so meh.
Solem you should definetly play the games in the challenges section, they are basically tutorials that explain almost all mechanics of the game (keywords, specific archetypes like Deep and Lurk, and interactions with all the cards) so you may get better, I really love your Hearthstone videos, but having a content creator and expert deck builder in a game with so much creativity :3
I think one of the biggest problem is the meta in this game. Basically you can have a tier 2 deck and your opponent runs a random deck and you can lose the game because you dont know what they run in their deck and cant play around it. Since the game works around counterplay this is very tilting. And the second problem is how strong aggro decks. Control decks get nerfed all the time while most of the tier 1 aggro decks barely get touched.
Having played the game regularly since launch, i've crafted every common and champion (legendary) card in the game and could still craft like 10 more legendries and 100 more commons just from the wild cards. Then theres all the shards that you can use to craft cards and I could craft every common all over again. I really loved Hearthstone but in LOR I can craft 5 different tier 1 decks day one of the expansion every expansion for free, I could never do that in Hearthstone.
As some one who's been playing since the launch and keeps playing around every expansion will say very fun very easy to get into I have never had to pay real money inorder to get in game currency and the cards to make decks, cards are genuinely fun to play and the quote on quote random in the game is pretty much balanced despite one specific card but he's funny so whatever, with my only gripe is the grind on ladder is really annoying but that's with all card games, the biggest problem I found with the game is most aggro decks just pop off and win way too early and lead to less fun games when all you play against is the like top 3 best aggro decks, then again could have been the decks I was playing either way definitely recommend giving the game a try it's free to play unlike a certain digital card game we all know and some love and yeah, now time to watch solems video to see if he said everything I just said

Tried LoR once, never came back to HS lmaooo.
I would say the opposite. Played for a less than a month and got utterly bored
Same, hs has really uninspired gameplay
Sometimes there is very unfun things like Azir/Irelia or TF/Fizz but it's not even secret mage level of unfun.
@@iceknight2222 that why I said "Sometimes", it's not a permanent thing. But yeah, I agree with you.
Ye but every game has toxic meta once in a while.. It's not like it's con of a game itself... Just balance of off for some time
I've been playing this game for like a year or so and what Solem said is actually very accurate. Good job.
I would love to see you play more and build crazy decks like you do in hearthstone :)
I quit hearthstone a little while back to play this game, and I can say it was one of the best decisions I made. Not that HS is a bad game, just that this game is much more F2P friendly and it feels better to play knowing that I can have more than one or two competitive decks
PLEEEEEASE start a LoR series.
Tries runeterra --> actually likes it and gets tons of views --> ignores it and never plays it again
Love the game
Oh there's a big way to fix one of your two problems
A 10/10 will be blocked by a 2/2 it happens and you don't hit the nexus
But keywords like
*Elusive*
*Overwhelm*
*Fearsome*
Spells like
*Atrocity*
Champions like *The Blindfold Guy who kicks*
Can counter this
Lee sin is blindfold guy
good/bad news, mini release made blindfold guy dangerous
@@patchoulidaze7193 it's lee targon all over again, but it's AKSHAN
LoR is great!
Also, the first "con" is not a con, it is part of the mechanics of the game and its strategic depth.
The more you play, the more you like the back-and-forth thing.
exactly, for me it will take some time to get used to but its definitely not a con at all. Just had to find something for the "con" category here :D
@@Solemhs Glad to hear!
Love this trying out ccg series you are doing ❤️
@@fairyrave2050 aside from the misspelling of “ Chump Block“ everything else you said is right and I can be here to testify for it
This is great haha Grapplr can't hit allegiance in a mono deck and you're hittin left and right.
I'm not into many card games but im pretty sure the attack back and fort or the chaining actions with your opponent is pretty common in a lot of card games (digital at that)
Lol griefing exists in every game
Its a fair reason man, as long as it works for you. I usually play labs or try netdecks so losing for me its fine.
left hearthstone after 6 years of play. this game is just so rewarding. Been playing 7 months. have the entire collection and so much fun.
Just started playing this game like a week ago and the fact that solem also started making videos about it it's pretty excited
The only reason you need to spend money on this game is if u want some cool-a*s Board, skins, cosmetic or other things that u could flex on your enemy that u have a lot of money
So this game is about pay-to-be-cool
got it
I love seeing you seeing the magic of Runeterra
(including the amount of free stuff just for existing, and even more if you just do the dailys, that result in 1 legendary and much more)
i havent played for a year and a half, basically i left the game when it was still in beta. But i still watch some of the content creators like MegaM0gwai & Grapplr (both highly recommend), since it is still fairly easy to pick up and understand whats going on on the board even if you havent played in a long time. Just need to read some new keywords and cards and you are set to continue
25 years playing Mtg, tried Hearthstone as replacement, failed, tried Runeterra and this is the best game right now.
"If you play it for a year you'll probably have all the cards"
I only need like 8 more epics but now that there is a new expansion coming it's going to take like 3 more weeks, but hey it's fun so whatever.
He hit allegiance first try, get this man a runeterra career stat!
I mean the deck was 37 demacia cards and 3 targon so it was very likely to hit it
I’ve played Lor before and kinda forgot about it, but this video makes me wanna get back into it. Thanks, person!
Cosmetics arent only purchasable, there are event passes that have free cosmetics in them
Only the boards are paid.
I screamed internally while watching this, but I loved it all the same.
he misplayed the barrier :-(
Learning this game from scratch can be really confusing. There's alot more complexity and planning than in HS, but so rewarding when you get into it.
@@SevenAsses hard agree, but its really worth it
LOR its the best cardgame in the market right now.
@@Berenadre yeah, sometimes I have very good matches with that deck.
Switch to this last year from heartstone, I have been having alot more fun. Also if I do play somedays of the week I dont feel bad since missing gold isn't that important such as in heartstone.
i play this game and the only thing that triggerd me was turn one when you played hawk you didn't open attack.
@@twanto1139 tbh the shield was fine for tempo and if he attacked you would just have a free kill on the unit so i didn't see a problem whit that.
Actually I think TF/Swain is kinda control and with adding tech cards against Lissandra/Taliyah it's doing pretty well
How about spider control with

Person's first favorite keyword: "Challenger"
Since it's new it still has that strategy aspect, especially due to the mixed turns mechanic. I can definitely imagine that changing though. Like other card games, the more the devs add the more volatile the game becomes.
I didn't know watching someone new play and learn would be so satisfying. Definitely would watch more of this.
Also at the end of the video you mentioned music as one of the pros. I love it as well and it's also cool that all the different boards you can buy have their own music and they are all amazing. I'm pretty sure they are all here on YT if you're curious.
As a grapplr stan, i respect how you hit allegiance
People forget about expeditions. I get a lot of cards from playing that alone
are they hard? I've never tried one and im thinkg on starting
@@aruanmello9320 Is like a normal game but you have to make your deck between 3 random options of 3 cards each
''Can we level up Garen again?'', my boy, you are in for a treat with Renekton, Naus, Azir and maybe Xerath once he is revealed (they can level up to 3 since they are Ascended, unlike the other champions). I can't GAREN-tee that Xerath can level up to lvl 3, but we will see soon enough.
I like the fact that it's f2p friendly but I don't like the gameplay, I feel it's confusing and stuff happens so fast for a game that has a lot of keywords
I know Yu-Gi-Oh, magic and even Pokemon TCG are more complex then runeterra but I'm not a big card game hardcore player and hearthstone really is welcoming for casuals, everything feels more simple to understand
Solem and opponent misplays are so fun to watch. It reminds me of a innocent times with playing the game for first time XD .
I played when it first launched. Had fun for a while but i still was stuck on hearthstone. I should give it another try
This is probably a game where I would actually buy card skins.
Let's do this Solem
You: Playing LOR
Us: Getting u to 100k
How? 😳
I want to see Person play more LoR, as a side content. That would be awesome
Solem move on from hearthstone, start with LOR it's amazing i really would like you to be a LOR streamer
Personally, I think that it's more enjoyable watching Solem play Runeterra than good old hearthstone
I left HS for LoR ages ago, it feels so much better, im so happy you've decided to try it out Solem! I'd totally watch more LoR videos from you.

I leave heartsone for this game last year, and I don't regret it
If hs dont changes his ways lor will over take him.
the aniamtions are insane yes :P 14:40
6 years of hearthstone are in this brain !
Ok we take we take the random.
He didn’t lie folks, yeah he didn’t…
Hello Hearthstone Player, hope to see you play more Legends of Runeterra.
hey solem, guy that doesnt play the game every day, i was feeling burnout of legends of runeterra a month or two-ish ago, but the game gives so much stuff i just had enough banked to not have to stress about not affording decks, that wasnt even the first time i had done that, so yeah, f2p is nuts
yeah, I have too leave and go back to LoR since release and I'm happy to know i can make new decks and get new cards everytime I come back.
I'd gladly watch Person learn LoR a little more - Stream times are a little out of my comfort but I might wanna watch the Vods :P
i have like 7-8 card backs and 6 additional emote i got for free so some of the cosmetic is obtainable by free
I switched to Runeterra while ago lol. Partially cause it came out on my birthday
Decks and ways of winning vary so much that the make the game so refreshing.

Control is almost non-existant when the counters to removal are so much cheaper than removal itself.
I've played since the open beta and never looked back. I'd be shocked to see someone release a higher quality card game anytime soon
As a lore nerd, I love the game, everything in it is canon
I would watch more LOR without question
