This is the best video regarding Samsunf Freezer problem. No nonsense, no stupid loud music. Everything is shown as it should be done! Perfect. Remember after turning the fridge back on, it takes a while before actually starts running. Excellent job! Thank You
Thank you for an excellent and informative video. It might be worth mentioning to anyone doing this procedure that you need to leave the fridge for a VERY long time for the ice behind the panel to melt otherwise you'll pull the cooling pipework away with the panel and ruin the whole lot. (The usual couple of hours is not enough for ice trapped in a very well insulated cavity.)
Great video. Before I saw this video I replaced the heater. Replaced all the sensors around the heater and nothing worked. I bought a kit to keep the drain hole defrosted. No change. Kept icing up. I wish people wouldn't post videos of solutions that are bogus. Saw this video bought the defrost sensor on amazon for $10 which comes with a longer wire. Used sheet metal snips to get the old sensor off. I reused the clip that held it onto the defroster. Its on a curve so I just trimmed one end of the curved part off and it was straight. Put the new sensor with trimmed clip on where this video shows to put it and it's fixed. 6 months with no ice. I haven't gone six months without this thing freezing up since I got it. Samsung should send this sensor to everyone who bought one for free with instructions. This is a major design flaw. Anyways great video thank you!
Daniel, My fridge that keeps having the icing problem on the left hand side (as shown in this video) does have the black sensor. Did you have the black sensor originally installed in your fridge and you had it replaced with the white sensor (and placed it on the left hand side like it is shown in this video)? Anyone knows what is the difference between these two sensors?
So you didnt buy the whole kit you just bought a new sensor and re-positioned it as per the video and it worked? You didnt say anything about the new settings so did you adjust the settings as per the video or did you leave them as they were?
Absolutely brilliant information which proved to be very accurate. Used the wife's hair drier to quicken the defrosting of the cover panel away from the cooling tubes, hopefully the mod will work and save me having to de-ice the fridge every couple of months, the tell tale sign being the fridge circulation fan rubbing on the build up of ice. A big thumbs up from me.
Mine is a few years old and has now started doing this the last 20 months or so , cant believe it took this long to find a video to say why its doing it .
Very good instructions , thank you. The only things I would add for a novice like me is to photograph the electrical connections before disconnecting and also that the motor takes 4-5 minutes to start after switching back on.
Hi, the black headed sensor will work in your fridge but it is not the correct sensor for the RSH1. The kit is more than just the repositioning of the sensor, along with the other parts and altering the temperature it does cure the left hand vent icing problem. The water bottle in the fridge does freeze up when overicing is occuring, therefore no water distribution is usually a sign of this problem. This only works if the other components are good, the back panel and the defrost heater
This company was very helpful. Unlike Samsung who denied that there was any problem with the Fridge. I will not be buying a Samsung Fridge again. Steer clear to the very poor service.
bought this kit and replaced sensor worked absoulutley brilliant and informative only two things i would point out leave fridge for 24 hours after switching off ice melts very slowly behind pane l also take pictures as you remove wiring blocks
option item 13, is the fridge defrost temperature option within the electronic control, option value 3 is equal to a defrost temperature of 17 degrees. So as part of the modification the fridge defrost upper temperature is increased from 12 to 17 degrees, alowing a slightly longer operating time for the heaters. Be careful with the option settings, many different options are available to alter but should not messed with.
Very nice video, I love the guy who explains, he talks slows and very clear, simply perfect, +10 for him. Unfortunatelly +6 for camera man, for half of the movie I seen only engineer head instead of important sensor removing. In Overall I am veryu happy with this guide. Thank you guys
Thanks, I have a Samsung rs2556 and the fridge was no longer cold. This video wasn't the same model, but was close enough to give me a hint where the fan was and where it was freezing up. Took it apart, defrosted, and good to go.
i will say from previous experience if the styrofoam inside the evaporator panel has been cracked or damaged, condensation will soak inside and damage it thus making the fix kinda temp or useless as dampness will cause it to freeze and expand.. if when you remove the evaporator cover and its damaged or heavy with water ingress i suggest changing it..
Hello, thanks for the informative video. I am not sure if i have the same problems. My refrigerator works fine but my fridge isn't getting the temperature down. So i have to change the sensor in the fridge department or in the refrigerator department as shown in the video? Also i think that the motor is continuously working. Is that possible?
Ive just fixed my fridge/freezer from watching this video👍👍👍, the only bit confused me and i still aint done is set them settings at the end for new defrost, got me that bit, does it matter if i didn’t do it??
Hiya. I followed you great video which helped me put in a new thermostat thanks. After about 4/5 weeks the fridge has frosted up around the bottom vents. I have found how to force it into a defrost, but it strikes me that maybe with my 17 year old unit that the new defrost setting of 3/13 is not right for my fridge freezer as it never happened before. The problem is I cannot find what the original setting was as I would like to out it back to that. Any chance you know what it was please?
@@onatbarscoskun672 I did exactly what it said in the video, as I haven’t been able to find the solution the fridge freezer is now useless with the fridge compartment frozen at the bottom and reading 11C the freezer is an unstable temperature too but reads whatever you set it to.
Greetings from the other side of the pond . I Had something similar on a Samsung French door style . But in that case did my need new wire . It was long enough
Very informative video! I wonder if the defrost temperature setting "3 13" that you've applied is resetting to "0 0" every time the fridge is unplugged? Shall this trick be done after the power down? Thanks!
Does the defrost on the refrigerator work in conjuction with the freezer? The drain at the bottom of my freezer keeps icing up and then the freezer temperature starts rising. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for posting the video it has helped out already understanding this troublesome Samsung refrigerator.
hi, I was wondering if you had any other information on setting up the fridge using the code display. since defrosting my freezer my ice machine does not work and I am wondering if I have altered something by mistake. any set up help to check my settings would be brilliant. great videos by the way, keep up the good work!!
Like the video, excellent description and I carried out this mod however the ice keeps coming back. The ice seems to be clear around the heater element but builds up higher up blocking the fan. Any ideas? Defrost temp change maybe? Thank
unbelievably terrible design, i hadn't realised the complete back was full of ice. When i looked onto the back of the panel that the fan is held on, there are various bits of tape holding things and sealing things together - clearly Samung knew there were issues but sent the fridge freezer out nonetheless. thank you so much for this video
Hello, Can't comment on another's work when i can't see what has been done. However all the components in the kit should be fitted as well as the re programming of the user card on the freezer door. The back panel should have been inspected and has to be perfect for it to be reused. Special attention should be paid to the foam seals of the back panel, they do have to be perfect. The heater can also influence the "frosting ice" as can the gas system and the power pcb. Ask Domex to re visit
hi,, love the video , I am a refrigeration engineer and have a couple of questions regarding the Samsung RSH1dbbp American fridge freezer , the unit has a probe on the top just under the electrical cover , this probe is yellow, what is its purpose , is it an ambient sensor for the condenser fan motor ?? also were can I get a manual to assess all the parameters setting in the controller as shown in the vid..thanks for your time Tom
Hello, in the fridge, if you have ice on the top vent of the back panel (assuming you have an RSH1 model), the fan is noisy and stops when the door is opened, there is a very good chance that the kit is needed. If the defrost sensor is fitted on the right it is certain to be needed, the video does cover it all. If you are about to remove the back panel, do not force it, once the screws are out it removes easily, if its stuck do not pull on it, there will be ice holding it, defrost some more.
not heard anything about plastic liners melting... i do know they can crack quite badly and excessive heat from the element can cause this. The crack is usually on the liner behind the evap panel and can be 8 to 10 inches long. The mod kit can be done DIY depending on your ability, many people have bought this part from us and fitted it themselves, the video does show the way forward. altering the temp setting to 17 degrees (setting 3) is part of the modification
The fridge will freeze the lower shelves if there is no air circulation, so most likely the fridge evaporator is iced up. The freezer section should still be working ok. So, there is a good chance that this kit will fix the problem, you will not know how good or bad the polystyrene insulation on the back panel is until you remove it. Fully defrost the fridge section before removing the back panel, if you force the panel off you may break the polystyrene insulation..... terminally.
PLEASE READ!!! Had to "de-Ice" every 6 months until I read that if you spray "Pam" on the coils it will prevent ice buildup. So I tried it and haven't had a problem since. 5 years and still no ice build up!
Maybe you know what settings should be set (after replacing the cover) for RSH5? Also it would be great if you could show/tell how to defrost manually (from control panel).
Nice and very informative video. Some days ago I called a technician from samsung and I noticed that after repairing my rsh1dtpe, at the defrost temperature settings he put the value "13" from the freezer button (left) and "3" from the fridge button (right), that is the opposite to what you suggested. Which are the right settings? What possible problems could these settings cause to my refrigerator? Thank you in advance
HI ukanfixit Excellent clip and service! I am in dispute with Samsung at the mo as they say my Unit had a modification made to it during manufacture, however it seems to be having the same problem as everyone else's! It's a RSH1NHMH and they are saying that it was manufactured in October 2009 so will not have this problem. Please could you confirm if you have had any other similar models manufactured in 2009 with the same problem? Many thanks
Hi sir I have a Samsung American double door fridge freezer I have the same problem my unit not defroedting and the water pipes got frozen. Please let me know where I can get the parts best way to get the uint working. I live in south Wales. Kind regards from afzal. Please keep safe.
Hi ukanfixit ... You sound very experienced indeed.. Hopefully you could please help me!??? (I would be very grateful) Samsung have replaced the dodgy parts in the fridge under the recall extended warrantee (with the same kit as you are selling) … but it appeared that the same kind of thing was happening to the freezer side whilst the fridge side seemed to remain fully functional… The short term solution was to fully defrost the freezer, then it worked fine until the ice built up again, especially down the bottom… now, since the last defrost it just keeps throwing the trip switch so can’t use it at all :( Any initial ideas on what is likely to be shorting out would be extremely helpful?… after defrosting, there was a draft coming through the vents but is it likely that this could have been coming from the fridge rather than the freezers fan?
Bought your full kit with the heater, but my fridge has the later single TOC heater so I left that in place as it tested fine. I have the fridge without water dispenser and the end adjustment of the defrost cycle wouldn't work. Option item (right figure) merely toggles between 0 and 1 and option value (left figure) will scroll up to 15 but even setting it at 13 I cannot change the right hand figure to 3 without resetting left figure back to 0. The fridge is up and working, but I want to make sure its right.
Hi, Thanks very much for your video! I finally resolve the problem of ice!! I have an other problem: the ice maker makes too little ice, because my water pressure it's low. can you tell me a code (holding buttons?) to lengthen the duration of the water that fills the molds ?? thankyou very much! Luca
I have had problems with my Samsung RS267lash US Fridge over freezing and causing inside middle vent hole to eventually freeze to point of no airflow , then fan grinding eventually to a halt from being frozen. When I force the fridge into defrost mode, it does not seem to melt the ice either. *Theoretically, if I force it into Defrost mode, the heating elements should come on and should be able to test 110V Correct? Don’t think it’s a bad Defrost heating element , last time I checked this it showed 96 ohmsDefrost sensor (yellow) was +- 2K at Room temperature. Thermal fuse (Red black /w white foam) = 0 ohms Not sure what to do now.
I have sam fridge, and problem with ventilator on this panel. Ventilator have eleceticity but not spining. 🤔 Can you tell me please what is problem. No error on board.
Hi i have a RSH1DBBP fridge freezer but the problem i have is the fridge freezes everything...will this kit solve the problem that i am experiencing too? Thanks for the video
Hello I'm writing from Argentina currents. I want to ask a technical question if you will be so kind to give me an answer I will be infinitely grateful. Regarding the refrigerator that shows in the video ami I am interested in knowing what value has to have the censor of defrost values are manifested in (K) for example: I saw some that measure 5k and this throws me a value of 0.51k in Temperature, while being tested in the freezer reaches a value of 1.21 k, in the resistance is able to see a paper asked for by and says 322k is true? I would like to know what value I have to buy the defrost censor to work efficiently. greetings thank you
Being a repair engineer, i'd say that if someome claims that there is a brand without problems at all, it's propably bs.. 😊 ..i think Samsung is not even nearly in the "troublesome" category..(no experience from other product groups from that brand though)
My mums RSH1PHPE was frosted all the way through the fan... (This happens at least 2 times a year) and i defrostet all the parts and after the installation the fan didnt worked... Any suggestions? Or do i have to buy a new one?
hi. I have a problem with my samsung rs21 ( fridge defrost) I was check my defrost sensor with electric tester, when sensor is warm work fine but when I put sensor in to cold water is not working, what do you think, this may be not working sensor? THANKS
Any advice whether or not these mods are advised on a RSH5? Pretty much the same issue so will follow the disaasembly guide and total defrost guide and check where the sensor is and the heating element. Fridge does ice up so the cooling loop I assume is charged.
@@jjv65uk About to remove the panel behind mine today after defrosting for 2 days. we shall see. Not a massive problem for me as this has only happened once in about 5years. The ice tray inlet has iced up twice though.
We have fridge/freezer. Freezer part on top. Just lately a breather from freezer to fridge dept is dripping water into the fridge. Sometimes it doesn't do it for days, then we have a puddle in fridge. Why????
Can't help here......... very few manufacturers give info out on how to alter programmed settings. The info available on the RSH1 kit is not given out by Samsung to the general public at large. I'm not suprised you can not find the answer to your question and I can't be of further help.
Hi. thanks for the info on the defrosting of Samsung RSH1DTMH i have had Samsung's engineer from DOMEX come and change the bits you have mentioned. However i still get build up of ice in the Fridge. Domex engineer has said everything is okay and they have been there 3 times but i still get the icing in the fridge. could you advise what i need to have done please.
buy the sensor on amazon with the longer wire. You can trim the existing curved clip holder straight with scissors or tin snips and that's it. $10 later all fixed.
hi can this been done as diy or do i need qualified engineer to fit them , not sure about altering the defrost cycle as ive heard this can melt the plastic lining , thanks calum
We tried this modification (new sensor) but it sadly doesn't work. The ice continues to build up around the fan, creating a loud whirring noise, and we keep having to defrost the whole fridge every week.
My fridge is working fine other than that the freezer half isn't cooling correctly, could this be because of the sensor or maybe the on board computer or maybe something else if you can answer this please do and thank you.
Hey there. Just wondering if you guys from ukanfixit are still there? As your homepage is not reachable? As i still use an old rsh1 model i am very interested in you defrost sensor kit? Using google i can only find complete repairsets including backpanel for around 120£ which is not worth it for that old stuff. Greetings Andreas
Hi I have one these Samsung fridges. Neither the fridge or freezer is staying cool. It will start to get cool, freezer about freezing and fridge about 10 degrees, then the temperature doesn't go down any further. I took this panel off and it is not iced up. I guess this fix won't help in this situation? Would you have any ideas about what could be causing this? This fridge is only about 5 years old.
It is possible to give me the value of resistance of the sensor since I have no idea what value is and my fridge was damaged and in my country that sensor fails
My water dispenser has frozen and has stopped. It is still producing ice as normal. So how can I de-ice the pipe leading to the water dispenser please.
Hello I have Samsung Model RSE8KGPS1/XEG and have changed the deforost sensor. I have tried to do as you said Freezer 3 and Fridge 13. but with my model I could not give these number, I could only do oposit meaning Freezer 13 and Fridge 3 . Can you let me know orignal valid numbers for my model? Thank you in advance

A very clear no nonsense repair and well presented without all that loud unnecessary silly music in the background. Thumbs up. :-)
Thank you for an excellent and informative video. It might be worth mentioning to anyone doing this procedure that you need to leave the fridge for a VERY long time for the ice behind the panel to melt otherwise you'll pull the cooling pipework away with the panel and ruin the whole lot.
Fully defrost the fridge section before removing the back panel, if you force the panel off you may break the polystyrene insulation..... terminally.

Any initial ideas on what is likely to be shorting out would be extremely helpful?… after defrosting, there was a draft coming through the vents but is it likely that this could have been coming from the fridge rather than the freezers fan?

my heater is about 1.7Mohm, does it mean need to replace? your video show only 369 ohm
Excellent thanks from france
Hi, Thanks very much for your video! I finally resolve the problem of ice!!
I have an other problem: the ice maker makes too little ice, because my water pressure it's low. can you tell me a code (holding buttons?) to lengthen the duration of the water that fills the molds ??
thankyou very much!
Luca
I have had problems with my Samsung RS267lash US Fridge over
freezing and causing inside middle vent hole to eventually freeze to
point of no airflow , then fan grinding eventually to a halt from being frozen.
When I force the fridge into defrost mode, it does not seem
to melt the ice either.
*Theoretically, if I force it into Defrost mode, the heating
elements should come on and should be able to test 110V Correct?
Don’t think it’s a bad Defrost heating element , last time I checked this it showed 96 ohmsDefrost sensor (yellow) was +- 2K at Room temperature.
Thermal fuse (Red black /w white foam) = 0 ohms
Not sure what to do now.
Hi, I'm getting a reading of 345 on my heater element continuity test and not 369 as on video. Does that mean that I need a new heater element?
I have sam fridge, and problem with ventilator on this panel. Ventilator have eleceticity but not spining. 🤔 Can you tell me please what is problem. No error on board.
Do ukanfixit still supply this part? The link doesn't seem to work.
hey guys, my spare part has come without the clip. can i fit the new sensor and use a bit of threat to keep it in place ?
I would like to know what value I have to buy the defrost censor to work efficiently. greetings thank you
Very helpful video.
Thanks
i was just about to buy a samsung fridge freezer but after finding out that it has problems i dont feel like purchasing one now
Being a repair engineer, i'd say that if someome claims that there is a brand without problems at all, it's propably bs..
THANKS
Please, Where can I buy this two plastic parts?
Hi, I just replaced the sensor as part of the modification kit and the heater tested 341, does this mean it is working okay? Thanks
Any advice whether or not these mods are advised on a RSH5? Pretty much the same issue so will follow the disaasembly guide and total defrost guide and check where the sensor is and the heating element. Fridge does ice up so the cooling loop I assume is charged.
Similarly, would be great to know if there’s a mod kit for the RSG5. I ended up clearing ice from behind the panel last week. ☹️
@@jjv65uk About to remove the panel behind mine today after defrosting for 2 days. we shall see. Not a massive problem for me as this has only happened once in about 5years. The ice tray inlet has iced up twice though.
All worked and needed to press the reset button on the ice maker. Checked with fridge thermometer for a few days and now all is well.
My samsung rsh5ubbp fridge freezer just suddenly stopped coolin?? Any fix for it??
We have fridge/freezer. Freezer part on top. Just lately a breather from freezer to fridge dept is dripping water into the fridge. Sometimes it doesn't do it for days, then we have a puddle in fridge. Why????
GeLo4711 huhu, selbes Problem hier..! Funktioniert wieder?
Ja, es hat am Thermostat gelegen
GeLo4711
Drecks Technik!
Oh, dass ist Pech 😯
Can't help here......... very few manufacturers give info out on how to alter programmed settings. The info available on the RSH1 kit is not given out by Samsung to the general public at large. I'm not suprised you can not find the answer to your question and I can't be of further help.
Hi. thanks for the info on the defrosting of Samsung RSH1DTMH
i have had Samsung's engineer from DOMEX come and change the bits you have mentioned. However i still get build up of ice in the Fridge. Domex engineer has said everything is okay and they have been there 3 times but i still get the icing in the fridge. could you advise what i need to have done please.
Can you put a link up for sensor kit? I can't get hold of one
buy the sensor on amazon with the longer wire. You can trim the existing curved clip holder straight with scissors or tin snips and that's it. $10 later all fixed.
Hi,
Do you still sell the sensors?
Think I bought one from you around 7 years ago??
Are you in Rotherham ?
Can you tell me if there is a censor to go into the freezer compartment or does the one I the fridge do both.
hi can this been done as diy or do i need qualified engineer to fit them , not sure about altering the defrost cycle as ive heard this can melt the plastic lining , thanks calum
Our freezer side is OK - 22 but the fridge is 15 even though we set it to 1. What should I look for?
We tried this modification (new sensor) but it sadly doesn't work. The ice continues to build up around the fan, creating a loud whirring noise, and we keep having to defrost the whole fridge every week.
Does this sensor fit and work with samsung model RS265TDRS/XAA ?
My fridge is working fine other than that the freezer half isn't cooling correctly, could this be because of the sensor or maybe the on board computer or maybe something else if you can answer this please do and thank you.
Nice
Good video
Thank you very much ! :)
How much is the repair kit for Samsung RsH1 fridge frezzer
good tutorial. thank you
Does anyone have the link to the actual part in the video?
Where can I buy this modification kit?
I am having build up of ICE at the bottom where the water drips and drains. Can you part resolve this issue?
A
Hi I have one these Samsung fridges.
The clue is in the title, this kit is for an RSH1 model, I am unaware it fits an RSE8
I need this 'modification' :( Just spent afternoon trying every other fix. ) My fridge still won't cool...its warm.
