I l-o-v-e-d this show when I was a kid in the 60's--I get a very warm feeling seeing it here again . The person that posted it here is awesome as far as I'm concerned--it made a 60's kid happy again . Vaughn and McCallum are dear old friends I havent seen for ages. What a fantastic thing to see this again--I better go out and get the video set !! Kevin in NY
I'm 57 and I had the show's photos ripped from fanzines papered all over my room. Bought the paperbacks....joined the club...even had a little card in my wallet for many years stating I was an honorary U.N.C.L.E. Agent. God, how I loved that show!
I got the box set. I had my hair cut like Roberts thru kindergarten. This and the Prisoner were my favorite shows. At my age at the time, I don't know how I understood them. I don't think I did. But I loved them.
I was watching this movie at 1971 in Indonesia, usually 5 years behind !!! This movies is very inspiring in fact this is lead me to an engineer now because I love so much the electronics thing. Thanks to bring our memories back.
An indelible part of my growing up. Mr. Vaughn wrote a great bio, A Fortunate Life, reasd it! He is in his 80's doing a play in England that ends it run March 1st, I believe. Wish I could ho see it!
I was glad to have met David McCallum several times and was able to tell him how happy he made me so happy all the years I saw him on TV, in movies, listening to his records or narrating stories for Caedmon. He's such a gentleman, in contrast to the narcissistic actors who trash fans and others who only want their autograph, etc. He's also been married a lot longer than many of them. He's far more talented and I'm shocked that he hasn't won an Emmy or Oscar or even star on the Walk of Hollywood yet. David deserves better!
Paul Thompson I was aghast when the stars of the new movie said they never heard of the original series! I watched it again in its entirety last year on DVD. It was amazing, especially for its time. Humour, ridiculous situations, gadgets and the UNCLE guys could knock out THRUSH guys with on blow while they took a lickin' and kept on tickin' (another 60's reference) without a bruise!!! They also weren't the stereotypical pretty boys and muscle dudes of today's movies and that made them more approachable. David McCallum especially was a teen heartthrob. I have to admit I watched largely for him. Vaughn and Carroll were excellent and so many beginning and established actors were guest stars from Leonard Nimoy to Broderick Crawford. The idea of a Russian and American working together during the Cold War was really unique and exceedingly cool. Who knows, maybe they even helped thaw some of the Cold War mentality. UNCLE still rules.
Thanks for this, I wasn't old enough to understand this when it was originally shown, was like 3 or 4 years old then.... and plan on catching up via Netflix now.
Fantastic clip - thanks for posting! Do you know who whe UNCLE experts that they interview are? The man with the German movie posters and the two women?
I've just started watching it (I'm a '90s girl) but I love how the mothers react: "OMG! I LOVED ILLYA!," since a fangirl is a fangirl (I scream the same thing, but in present tense). :)
Watched a rerun of N.C.I.S. the other day. One of the characters asked Agent Gibbs what Dr. Mallard looked like when he was younger. Gibbs replied, "Illya Kuryakin"! I laughed my head off! For those that don't know: David MCCallum is now on NCIS as Dr. Mallard, or Ducky as he's called on the show. It was an inside joke. And, now that I've had to explain it, it's not funny anymore.

Very nice drama..tenager time always waiting the series everybody thesday 8 pm...
Very cool! I argued with three brothers as to who was going to play Napolean Solo. We played UNCLE agents all of the time! HA! HA!

Agreed ... such a great series. Cannot see how a remake can improve on it. I got an UNCLE ID card when they came out, number 1596

I cannot tell you who the 5th president was, but I can still remember what U.N.C.L.E. stands for. Funny, ain't it?

One of the greatest shows - 60's Spys and Spacemen came along and killed off the 50's Detectives and Cowboys.
From Solo's description of THRUSH, I'd say they won.
its funny, on a first season of NCIS, Cate tells Gibbs that Ducky looks a lot like "that guy on tv, Illya.
I've just started watching it (I'm a '90s girl) but I love how the mothers react: "OMG! I LOVED ILLYA!," since a fangirl is a fangirl (I scream the same thing, but in present tense). :)
When did this profile originally air on TV?
originally aired in 2008 on CN8 The Comcast Network out of Boston. Thank you
Their communications device looked like a tire gauge. Or a one-hitter. Not that there is anything wrong with that...
Illya Nokovitch Kuryakin.
+lesbrown331 - Excellent ! - You get the prize.
y la nueva pelí bastante bien

Funny I must have been to young to understand one of them was a russkie.
+idarusskie - But you still had fun watching !
I'm as in love with Illya as the next girl, but I think he looks like a short, blond frankenstein.
RIP Robert Vaughn
