I'm left handed and you directions and perspective really helped my learn this stitch. I like that you drew lines beforehand as it is a great technique for. a beginner. I have A to Z Embroidery and your visuals and descriptions are so much better. I looked at a video for lefties and I couldn't follow as she wasn't starting on a straight line sample. Kudos to you!
In later videos I try and do left handed too, but I've been told if you hold a mirror up that will work!
Beautufiul !!! Thank you Sarah.... this is so helpful and you always expain everything so well. You make it easy to follow and for me to learn. I am so glad that I found your channel recently. I'm binge watching your videos.....
Thanks again Sarah. Can’t wait to see how mine turn out. Xx 💕💕
Thank you , another very useful video. I have just ordered the water erasable pen from your website !
I’m left handed and could not figure out on my own how to complete this stitch. As another left handed poster commented, the lines were very helpful. I was able to complete my project with your tutorial. 👏👏Thank you!
I’m left handed and her tutorial was so much better than the left hand tutorial I found.!
I frequently share this video with my students, thank you for such clear instructions!
Thanks for sharing Jessica!

Dear Sarah!! Endlich habe ich gelernt, wie man den Featherstitch macht! Tausend Dank und viele Grüße aus Germany Love!❤❤
Interesting the way playing with the stitch created different effects.
Wait until I start using beads....:)
Another very helpful video, thank you Sarah x

I do wool appliqué with a lot of decorative stitching, your videos have helped so much. Thank you for sharing your talents. I did not know about the closed feather stitch, I will try it on some stems soon.

Lovely Sarah. Xx 💕💕
Hi, Sarah. I'm working a Sampler in Aida cloth and was wondering how to do a feather stitch in the Aida cloth. Thanks so much. I am really enjoying your videos.
I don't think it's any different from normal fabric Anne? If anything it will be neater because you have holes to follow!
Thank you Sarah, your videos and instructions are always so good👏💫🤗
I don't think you need my instruction Jane!
@@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery There are always lessons, hints and tips that can be learnt. Again, thank you Sarah😊💜
AWESOME!!! The closed feather stitch looks like the open chain stitch It's quite confusing ;) Thanks for sharing ;D
All stitches are a variation on each other. The feather stitch tends to go from left to right where the open chains are in a straight line
Merci ....
Very interesting 🤨
Super
Dear Sarah, I wonder if you'd ever consider making just one single video on some stitches using the sewing method without a hoop? I know it's a sin to ask but I'm pretty sure lots of simple folks like me would appreciate it :) Love your videos & thx a lot :)
I will look into it! It is hard to film when you hold something in your hand as it wobbles all over the place and goes out of shot/focus easily but I'll have a look and see if this would be possible. The only difference really when you work something in your hand is that you can do one movement of the needle instead of two (an up and a down) so if you were doing feather stitch you would come out of the fabric to start your stitch then do the next two movements in one, so back down and back out again inside the loop.
@@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery Thank you very much. Perhaps one day you'll feel like giving it a try :) A little sampler with 10-15 stitches would be perfect.
The closed feather stitch worked horizontally would be a truss as is commonly used in bridges and buildings.
hello Sarah, thank you for the tutorial, what kind of threads do you use, thank you.
Do you have a video for bouillon circles?
How far apart are the 4 lines for the feather stitch?
Can you explain why you start on the front ?
See my video on how to start and finish your threads!
What frame are you using please

You must of read my mind. I'd been looking through my 'Stitch Bible' & couldn't quite visualise it. my brain boggled at the closed stitch, maybe I need to keep it simple.....
I had to think carefully about that one too Jane!
This is crochet
Could u repeat this side by side and make a mermaid tail???
Also y is it called a feather stitch is looks more like tree branches or something???
That would probably work really well Jessica! Try it out and let me know! You may call it tree branch stitch if you like...:)
I'm mending a quilt where the inexperienced quilter didn't leave enough seam allowance and her pieces are shredding apart
Madam This is Dr.Malini. You haven't sent me any response regarding the motifs I sent you?
I don't understand what you want me to do with them?
@@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery Mam just as how you put up your motifs I have sent you my motifs that you can share with others & there are ratings on them too. They can order as separate motifs & can stitch them on their dresses or shirt or trousers or any where as their mind takes them.
Do you have a video for bouillon circles?
I have the Bullion stitch Becky?
