    🏌️Ready to Learn The Holy Grail of Golf™? Start Your Training Today!
    I explain the simple reason why you swing over the top and how to fix it, once and for all! It's a simple fix. Over the top isn't really a bad motion, you're just doing it at the wrong angle. It's all about fixing the false idea that the club has to move laterally across your pelvis. Golf is simper than you think. A simple tilting of the body will change the over the top motion to a perfect golf swing.
    Golf should not be a struggle. Golf should not be hard. Golf is easy if you know the secret.
    Start playing golf well. Gain confidence and have more fun playing golf.
    Dustin Johnson, Cameron Champ, Rory McIlroy, Joaquín Niemann and Tommy Fleetwood all swing the club this way. If there is a secret to golf, this is it.

    Thank you Mr. OG This video has completely changed my perspective of the swing. I have not mastered it yet but am seeing some very positive results that I hope to make more consistent . The concepts of bringing the shaft down over my right shoulder behind and not at the ball and that the hands are done after the hit are new to me. I have to work on continuing to turn and to keep my arms in sync with the body. Nothing has ever come easy for me in this game but this video has been priceless to me . Thanks again Martin

    The power of the wrists was painfully showed to me at a carnival years ago before i started golf. An old man was selling 3 attempts to ring the bell with a big wooden hammer on a 4 ft stick, the hammer was about 5inches in diameter. I tried 3 tries and couldn't get the medal ball to travel up the track to ring the bell. After i was exhausted ( i lifted 250 lb beef quarters all day for a living) , he calmly picked up the hammer and with lightning speed sent the ball up and smashed the bell. I then tried it using his method of flicking the wrists and boom, it smashed the bell hard. I know you don't talk about parts of the swing that should be self conscious but a lot of golfers doesn't know the power of the wrists. Good video, great content.

    • @HolyGrailOfGolf
      @HolyGrailOfGolf  3 роки тому

      So once you used the hammer as a second lever it worked much more efficiently. That's a good analogy. I think most people think of golf the same way - a strong gorilla style smash should be better than a relaxed quick whip and suddenly they throw everything they know to be true out the window.

    I think (still working on it) that the secondary spine tilt is possibly the most important part of a good setup. I don't know if my analogy is good, but it's like trying to run your dragster down the drag strip being lined up crooked. If you aren't lined up correctly, you will still go, but you won't go as fast or efficiently because you are not on the optimal line.

    I’m really trying to get this. I understand the movement and hit amazing shots when done right. But I’m still mainly getting slices. • @HolyGrailOfGolf
      @HolyGrailOfGolf  Місяць тому

      Sure, you're swinging in the wrong direction. You're trying to move the clubhead toward the desired ball flight which will cause the face to open. You need to swing downward more as if you're going to hit the ball underground. That will cause the clubface to close naturally as it was designed to do. That is the Holy Grail of Golf®.

    • @Lje7
      @Lje7 Місяць тому

      @@HolyGrailOfGolf I will keep trying thanks. After I commented I also found your how to cure the slice video, I’ve watched it a few times where you say to come into the ball with the face open, as if hitting the ball with the heel. I have never seen this mentioned before by anyone. So will be trying that too on next range visit

    • @HolyGrailOfGolf
      @HolyGrailOfGolf  Місяць тому

      @@Lje7 It's simple physics. If the weight of the clubhead is outside the shaft and a linear force is applied to the shaft the mass will want to trail the shaft ... like a flag, but when the mass is trailing the shaft and the shaft is caused to make a curve that mass can no longer travel on it's original path and will swing out, like a double decker bus going around a corner too fast, and that will cause the clubface to close naturally which is how the golf club is designed to work. It's not just a mindless stick that must be actively manipulated in order to work properly. In fact when swung properly, in the proper direction, literally everything happens automatically. This is clearly evident when watching any professional swing. There's simply no way to perform all the ridiculous things that instructors advocate in the millisecond it takes to perform a golf swing. It's physically impossible and yet so many people insist that good players are doing this.

    @WhittierStables 3 роки тому

    There is a famous instructor named Alex J. Morrison who began the slight tilt position and Jack Nicklaus' golf coach taugh Jack to roll his feet to get into that position. So, yes, it works. However, there are other ways to swing the club. The advantage of that position when done correctly is height and long distance....important in the days of the two-piece ball. However, modern golf balls allow the golfer to have it all. Thus, modern golfers can swing more like Ben Hogan which allows the golfer to hit high, low, left and right with ease.

Once you understand the golf club and appreciate the genius of its invisible engineering, golf is a lot more fun. Most people think a golf club is a stick that they have to "make" work when actually it's an incredible tool that hasn't changed in ~500 years because it works so well. I do that sometimes too. Have u tried moving the ball back in your stance a little bit? Move it back just the width of the golf ball and hit a few, and then if u need to, move it back again for a few swings until you`re in the right spot. I think it`s helping me.

    A swing "feel" for this is to imagine that your right shoulder doesn't exist (i.e keep it quiet). You swing around your left shoulder which is the pivot point and, with the secondary spine tilt, rotating adds the centrifugal force. Your right shoulder isn't there to impede you and It becomes effortless power.

    I haven't seen all of your videos, but it seems you mostly, if not always, use either a driver or a fairway wood. Why don't you demonstrate your technique with irons? I for one think it would be beneficial.

    • @HolyGrailOfGolf
      @HolyGrailOfGolf  3 роки тому

      The basics of the swing are the same. I just figured most people love hitting woods so I'd use that, plus the club I demonstrate with has a fantastic swing weight and I just love swinging it. You're right, I should use an iron.

      @@HolyGrailOfGolf I think it would be great if you could do a video showing how one controls face rotation through the impact area with an iron using the Overhand/Holy Grail swing. When you swing at full speed with a wood/driver it looks like a lot of face rotation. I have had some positive results with your method with fairway woods/driver but not so much with the irons. Thanks.

    • @HolyGrailOfGolf
      @HolyGrailOfGolf  3 роки тому

      @@MJB7322 The face is controlled by your grip. You don't actively control it as you're swinging. If you try you will fail most of the time. By not trying to control it, we allow it to square up naturally.

    • @MJB7322
      @MJB7322 3 роки тому +1

      @@HolyGrailOfGolf I know that is one school of thought but others teach that you can reduce the rate of clubface rotation through impact either through body rotation or keeping the face more closed to the path throughout the swing. Again, I think a video supporting your position and done with an iron (and why your method is preferable to the other two I just mentioned) would be quite beneficial.

    Overhand golf guy, I don't know if you've ever thought about this, but if you combine two motions , a vertical drop and a horizontal rotation, the result is an inclined plane.
    It might help even more to explain what you're explaining.

When you first try it you're doing it right because you can't believe it works then as you become more comfortable and can't really "feel" it anymore you end up with a hybrid of your old swing and the new move. At this point, like you, you have to go back to the beginning and start over. So, you learn what to do and what not to do and hopefully you never have to go down the "what not to do" path again. Don’t know if you still exist.......
    You had so many ground breaking and contrarian thoughts on the golf swing that I think you attracted a lot of followers initially but swinging a club with a rag wrapped around the handle and your “venue” eventually drove people away, even though your content was very good and entertaining.
    It seemed you might have had money and health issues which started becoming apparent in your comments which might have been part of the downfall of Overhand Golf.
    Even with good information, golf is so difficult that if carefully followed it might take months for that information to translate into game improvement.
    There are SO many instructors on UA-cam the little guy like yourself are doomed to fail.
    Hope your doing well and even though it didn’t pan out, know that many thousands of people enjoyed your wisdom and entertaining presentation skills.

      @HolyGrailOfGolf  Рік тому

      Yeah, I'm still around. The last few years haven't been very good for me although I'm getting better. The real reason the channel isn't what it used to be is because of UA-cam. They implemented a new algorithm they called "session time." Mine was almost zero. The problem is that people watch my videos and say, "No way can it be that easy," then go out and swing a club or hit the range ... so they stop watching UA-cam. So UA-cam tracked that whenever someone watches my channel they stopped watching any more UA-cam so they stopped promoting me even though I was getting 144,000 views per day! After the new algorithm I'm down to about 1500 a day. So UA-cam isn't really worth my time and effort like it was.
      I'm putting all my efforts into my website now, mostly. Hopefully that'll but up and running soon. It's almost there. I have so many ideas and concepts it's hard to organize them.
      Did I get mean in some comments? I try not to but some people are just jerks. I still have 99% like rate on most videos but there's always that one guy who thinks everyone other than himself is an idiot. I try to debate them and then they just get nasty and mean when their argument falls apart so I usually ban them from the channel unless it's entertaining or helpful in some way.
      Thanks for the comment.
