I wish I would have known about the dangers of tanning beds when I was a teen. I used to go every week until I looked like a burnt turkey. Ten years of straight tanning. I'm lucky cancer hasn't creeped up... yet.

Same! And I did get skin cancer. Melanoma on my lower leg. I fortunately caught it in time. And I did stop the tanning beds. It's not worth it. Spray tan only now. 😊

This is brilliant. There's so much misinformation about skincare, it's not complicated but companies make people think they need 100 different products! Love this clear simplicity. Great video!(so far!)

This is so important. Especially how much the sun ages you like 90% and the rest is hereditary. I wear sunscreen 365 days out of the year even when gloomy outside

Yes because people think if the uv index in there area is low they don’t need to wear sunscreen for that day or at all but in reality uv indexes don’t not track UVA rays only UVB rays and UVA rays are very consistent all year round and cannot be stopped by clouds if that wasn’t the case people wouldn’t age in gloomy places like the UK so it’s good to wear sunscreen all the time.

What scares me most is that my very fair mother, who ALWAYS had sunsafe practices her whole life, just got diagnosed with skin cancer. And in a spot that never even sees the sun! Good news is was removed very early and no further treatments needed. But it's just very scary

There are different forms of skin cancers and some can not be prevented as good than others. People also underestimate the sun, they have seen as a child and in their youth.

Most of the skin cancers appear in areas of the body that have barely been exposed to the sun over the years, sun exposure is one of the most important things in life... (radiation 4 to 6 - 20 minutes daily exposition fully body...) There are millions of people dying because of very low levels of vitamin D

I used to go tanning at least once a week, but then I got a melanoma on my lower leg. I was 30 and at first thought it was probably nothing. But when I researched skin cancer and found that most melanomas were found from the waist down on women I decided to be safe and get it checked just in case. It was a small mole that had suddenly turned an almost black color out of nowhere, and my derm wasn't concerned, but removed it anyway to send to pathogy. But sure enough it WAS melanoma. So I had to have surgery to remove the tissue that had surrounded it. I'm 100% confident it was the tanning beds mixed with my fair skin type. My mom had the same skin as me and has never had skin cancer and coincidentally has never used tanning beds. I obviously stopped tanning, and I was shocked when my derm told me she has patients with a hx of melanoma that still use tanning beds. I've scanned (MRI) a patient with stage 4 brain cancer because of a melanoma that wasn't caught in time. I just don't get why anyone would risk that.

I'll be 70 in May. I was typical as a teen in the 60's and 70's, sunworshipper for sure. Well, a few months ago I had a Squamos Cell Carcinoma removed from my face, fortunately it was contained and the surgeon removed it and surrounding tissue. It's hard to get it across to young people because they can't even imagine themselves as 'older' and of course they have a subconscious 'invincibility' factor built in too. I probably had 3 bad sunburns in my youth and that's all it took. It was a breeze compared to chemo and radiation I had for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I hope a lot of parents watch this video. I do have a question, I've been reading about some studies on sunscreens and harmful effects. There are many conflicting medical opinions about this, was wondering what you thought on that subject. Thanks!

It also was probably largely overlooked as a diagnosis in people who died apparently from brain or other organ cancer that actually were originally melanomas ...

I just want to say even if you don’t wear sunscreen that doesn’t mean you have sufficient D levels anyways. There was a time I didn’t wear spf and was in the sun all the time and I know other people as well, were tested low D levels. So wear the sunscreen

Good information generally but he doesnt substantiate his bias againts chemical sunscreens. The fact that they are absorbed is not an issue in and of itself.

It's amazing how people have gotten so spoiled with working remotely. For so many jobs that's just not doable. My husband works for our state and he works from home every other day. (Which only started because of Covid) The only reason I'm grateful for it is because his work is out of town, so it saves us a lot of gas money. But he also has a job where he's not required to interact with patients. (Like I am as a MRI technologist.) And it's kinda crazy to me to imagine a receptionist working from home. But if you're able to manage it by alternating your staff I think it's great. But in general I do think it's good for employees to get out of there house and be around other people. And being around your coworkers (even just a few days out of the week) isn't a bad thing.
