I have always had nice, full lips. I did use very conservative filler throughout my 50s when I was making the big bucks as an RN IN N. CA. At 62 I retired and stopped Botox and filler. I have grown to love my face and greying hair. It’s a vibe; an attitude. I love it. My skincare routine is very good, so my skin is great. My present happiness requires adjustment and a great attitude. No surgical procedure can do that.
I feel like with plastic surgery, less is always more. Thank you Dr. for being honest about what is achievable and what realistically will happen and for being ethical.

I had a lip flip with botox and I hated it. It looked OK, but I couldn't eat, drink, brush my teeth, or even talk normally! BUT if you want to quit smoking - it works! I could not smoke, it was literally impossible.

Whoever did your lip flip didn't know what the f they are doing, that is not normal at all.

@@miamo3567 Girl she messed you up. You couldn't eat, drink, or even talk?? You couldn't smoke or even brush your teeth?? Not normal at all and don't let her tell you it is. I've had more than a dozen lip flips. My day goes on as normal afterward lol. Don't be defending a practitioner who rendered you completely dysfunctional from a minor procedure, that's not okay.
He's probably not asking for it, but Dr Gary's lips are really quite perfect. I'm sure they would be the lips his missus would buy hahaha

The "lip flip" actually worked really well for me because I tend to curl my upper lip inward when smiling. The botox helped the lip relax more so more of the upper lip is visible when smiling which makes my smile look more balanced and less toothy. I recommend it if you have this problem, but to get the full results you want you probably want to get a little filler with the botox. I only get 1 syringe every 6 months.
I was about to say this, don't be so quick to dismiss the lip flip! If you find your top lip disappears when smiling this is such a good minimally invasive solution, I have so much confidence in my smile now I love it!
How do you find it with not being able to drink/ eat normally etc?
@@jessicawalker3240 I'm guessing you're asking because of that other comment where the girl said she couldn't do anything after the lip flip. I literally don't know what that girl is talking about lol. With botox you'll be sore in that spot for a couple days, with filler you'll be sore for a week or so. But no it doesn't effect your ability to do anything lol.
Very interesting video. My dentist did something that sounds similar to the V TO Y advancement. The frenum in my top lip was very tight and was causing a gap in my front teeth. She used a laser to break up the extra strong fibrous bands. Before when I smiled my top lip disappeared, now it's nice and full, even when smiling.
Did the gum ever go back, closing the gap between your teeth (assuming it was the gum itself that was lifted and causing the gap)?

Hoy! That extended corner grin lift lateral ext. scarring looked like a Joker smile. That would be a "no go" for me. I wouldn't take that risk. You do a great job of showing and explaining possible risks and why! I'm sure you're a great advocate for best practice for your patients, Doc!

I really love your content. You’re really all about natural looking results. I’m 47 but I still look pretty good. But I’ve noticed something starting with my lips and I really do enjoy being able to wear lipstick. Also I’ve been thinking of getting a consultation so these opinions really help.

I have a really full bottom lip, and a thin upper, i tried to get filler, i wanted it so much, i found the procedure absolutely excrutiating so much so , i had to stop part way through. I have a decent to high pain tollerance, it blows my mind that people can sit through this.

I'm a black woman who was teased throughout my childhood on my full lips, so watching this is funny to me . I'm in my 50s now, lips still full, no wrinkles, proportional bottom vs lower lip, no drooping and perfect cupids bow.

Hello Dr. Linkov, just a quick question about Minoxidil. I started taking it about a week ago and had to stop due to abdominal pain, related to gastric bloating. I tried to look into adverse affects and didn’t find anything listed for this medication. I had to stop taking it, and it resolved a couple of days later. But my question is have you had any patients complain of these side effects?
Great video! As much as I would love to get a lip lift, I have two reservations: 1) The arching of the lips in *most* cases that I've seen looks really creepy. It's like a pyramid shape where the center looks abnormally high and dips down low on either side. Is there a technology simulator to show how one might look after the lift? 2) My fear of gravity eventually pulling the scar down into the philtrum area. :O

I swear after doing only lip flip one time my upper lip has weakened /lengthened the philtrum so much that it’s longer/flatter now and that was a yr ago. Maybe it’s just subtle, but didn’t do any favors.

I’m fine with my lips except for the corner. Born with downturn lips/RBF, would love to hear more about options there! Mine didn’t come with age.
I think a bit of Botox can fix it... although who cares...rock the RBF, I do! 💁🏼♀️
hi doctor, how can I non-surgical lift the corner of my lips? i am not willing to do it surgically since i had jaw surgery and lifted my upper jaw to hide my gummy smile. i think if i pull anything upwards surgically it could undo that..
Can you explain how you do your deep plane liplift without touching the muscle? Is everything cut through until you hit the muscle.
I naturally have fat that extends past my vermillion border although my lip itself is not plump and it looks like i have migrated fillers, this fat makes my top lift have a shelf which makes the philtrum appear longer than it is. Would you take off more skin for this case, or the same rule applies as a normal patient?
Can 2 year vermillion border lip migration ever fully go away or does it need to be removed?
Hi Gary, what do you recommend for someone who is thinking of getting a lip lift, but is wondering how they can see similar results with non-surgical methods?
I wonder if the lateral incision is what Dakota Johnson had. Her (gorgeous) upper lip looks much fuller all the way out into the corner as if someone turned her lip out in the corner of her mouth. I was wondering how she achieved that.
I love dr Gary but 7mm philtrum is quite bad. It looks unnatural and makes the nose look longer. Quite awkward when you smile. Some facial malformations have this type of philtrum. I wouldn’t advertise this to young impressionable teens who might have short philtrums already. I have friends who got that procedure with dramatic results and they regret it. Imo 10-15mm is the ideal length, according to QOVES studio you wouldn’t go below 11mm for females. That’s just a thought though. Thank you for the informative video.

I got lip implants. They dont bother me. I've never thought of getting them removed. I think since 2015.

I had lip filler about 5 years ago and loved them and recently felt like they could use a refresh with a half syringe. the same doctor did it but maybe his technique changed because I don't like them this time ... I have a ridge AROUND my border and I hate it. ugh. I don't want to start going down the dissolving road. I'm so disappointed.

Dr. Linkov, is there anything to be done for someone who has NO filtrum columns? My upper lip is as flat as a pancake, and I feel so gypped! Can ANYTHING be done to create a natural-looking filtrum?
Not really unfortunately. Fillers don’t look natural in that area. A lip lift can help at least reduce attention on the philtrum itself.

Let's be honest...filler hurts and its $$$ but if you do a little now and then, anc you have a skilled injector, it's very natural. I'm turning 54 and I've been getting filler on/off over 10 years. I dont fill my face or do anything else and haven't had migration issues. Interesting video ❤

I’ve never had full lips😫😫😫😫 My top lip is pretty much nonexistent. Now I’m in my 40’s and my lips are becoming even more thinner 😳 . I never considered having something done because I’ll I knew of was lip fillers, and in my opinion the results look so unnatural. BUT a lip lift looks promising. I’ve only heard of this option just a year or so ago. Was is kept on the hush or something (I’m always the last know to know about something lol)? Anywho, I’m definitely considering. Currently reaching now 😁

I slightly over line my lips with a pencil that is exactly my lip shade. I love the effect but I wish there was a PERMANENT type pencil that I could use at home, even if it lasts for 2 weeks like hair dye lol

The day we can properly help healing scars so they are not visible is the day I would do a liplift. So maybe never. I've seen results and you see the scar even on the elelyft procedure :S
