    I like how the ax head turned out. You could see what looks like pitting in the metal.

    That turned out really well! I will definitely keep the graphite and shellac trick in my back pocket for future builds.

    Awesome! I would have never thought of graphite and shellac. Great texture, especially after you sanded it.

    Woah I did not expect to see this!! The Shining is my favorite horror movie and I've been wanting to do a screen accurate Jack cosplay for awhile so this is very handy. Great work as usual! :D

    Awesome tutorial! I see what you mean about the handle's placement on axe head. I honestly didn't even catch it, though, until you mentioned it. Once you stated it, It became more noticeable. I think it turned out great. Love the use of the driveway marker. It always seems like prop making demands the use of products to be used in unconventional ways. It's kind of comical but also satisfying. As always, thanks for sharing! 🤘💀

    If Hollywood ever decides to make a docudrama about Casey Kasem's life or bring back the top ten countdown... Make sure you throw your name into the hate for voice-over actor.
    As always, excellent job.

    I’m not sure what you’re making but it reminds me of an old hatchet, like something you’d use in a horror flick or the like. All that to say, “Thank you” and “Well done” sir.

    Hello there Mr. VanOaks. First of all I’d like to thank you for all of your wonderful work. You always continue to amaze me. I’ve seen almost all of the Halloween videos, I’m on video number 74. I just love your work. But, I thought I noticed something about your build with this one. If I’m not mistaken, I believe you placed the axe head on backwards. Not that it matters, it looks absolutely beautiful, but I thought I’d mention it.

    • @VanOaksProps
      @VanOaksProps  6 місяців тому

      Thanks so much for watching! You're right. It should've been much further back on the axe head.

    • @Frankgutz
      @Frankgutz 6 місяців тому

      @@VanOaksProps Well, I actually meant that the axe head is rotated 180 degrees the wrong way. No matter sir, it looks fantastic and you are an amazing prop builder.

    • @VanOaksProps
      @VanOaksProps  6 місяців тому

      @@Frankgutz yes! That too. There’s been a few builds over the years where I’ve somehow managed to install something backwards. lol

    This is really cool! Just curious though, how many inches is the width of handle?

    • @VanOaksProps
      @VanOaksProps  Рік тому

      Two, I believe. I don’t recall the exact width. You might be able to find replacement axe handles online to get more exact measurements.

    why not use whatever Adhesive you like...leaving matching bare spots each piece then CA glue + accelerator appropriately?

    could I request a tutorial for simple mining pickaxe like from my bloody valentine pls! :D

    • @VanOaksProps
      @VanOaksProps  3 місяці тому

      It would basically be the same steps, but would be a pickaxe head in place of the axe head. If you wanted it to be a bit more rigid you could use coat hanger wire to make the picks less wobbly.
