They are correct but until people actually stop buying EA games on release, it doesn't matter much. They mentioned a DOZEN colossal screw ups in 4 years they keep making more money each year.
The ultimate in how much they turned me off was the day after I got my PS4 Pro, they offered the PS4 Pro at the same price point I got a deal on, WITH Battlefront 2 attached, and I felt like I got the better deal by not artificially inflating their sales count by waiting a single day to gain that console bundle.
MSUHitman I think was basically just Battlefronts momentum got people looking at fifa and EAs ultimate team stuff and realize how messed up that stuff was. Specifically for FIFA, it evolved into boycotts, petitions, etc. You know, all the classics.
Jack Also not to forget the UFC game which is also riddled with hiding your character upgrades behind microtransactions to a ridiculous degree like Battlefront or NFS. They have rare quality punches hidden behind lootboxes which just makes you punch faster ffs. I'm glad EAs gotten this shit, I hope the lesson is learned, by EA and others.
If you go through this channel's videos, you'll find highlight clips of Jeff taking a dive into that controversy as it was happening (Ep. 507 and Ep. 508). Keep in mind, both of those videos are approaching 90 minutes so if you don't have time for that: The long and short of it is EA completely bungled Star Wars: Battlefront 2 by attaching a large part of the player progression and features in multiplayer to microtransactions and lootboxes. You could speed up progress by purchasing items that would let you do so, and some heroes were locked until either 1) You spent about 40 hours of playtime accumulating enough in-game currency to unlock one hero or 2) You paid for them. Unsurprisingly, a lot of people (rightfully) gave EA shit for this to the point that I believe Disney was calling them up just hours before the game launched (I haven't seen this confirmed, though). The three weeks that followed after the game launch was just a huge mess that consisted of EA walking back on a lot of things. It's not just the microtransactions. The entire progression system for the game is pretty arcane that even I can't explain it well. EA spent months trying to undo the damage they caused to Battlefront 2, damage severe enough that there were reports of the Belgian Government actually considering investigating Battlefront 2 and if their use of lootboxes were actually akin to gambling, which is a huge no-no especially when a good portion of the games market consists of teenagers. If you find the time you should go listen to the aforementioned videos for a deeper dive into this. It's a fascinating disaster, really.
Dude they've sucked ass for way longer. I remember early IGN forums going to just get cheat codes for PS1 games I played on my PS2 and bought for super cheap and people would joke "If EA buys the studio they are just going to die" like Pandemic and other studios. They have been dogshit since at least 2005 and spiked back up to decent in the early 360 generation only to regress and get voted WORST COMPANY like 5 years in a row post Battlefield 3.
It says a lot about how bad Battlefront 2 is that I played it this year (2019) having paid less than £10 for it, never touched a loot box or MTX and still didn't have much fun. I'm hoping Fallen Order can give me the first good SW this decade.
@@langa77777 No, dumbass. You need to actually play the game before you comment on it. You haven't and you deny it. If you need further evidence of this guy's idiocy, read whatever response he puts.
"What if you had 4 Sim Cities in one year?" Alex nails it.
"I hope Anthem's good...."
Omanisat This is the Future..... I have bad news about Anthem.....
And now Anthem's dead too.
🤣
What's this "Anthem"? From 2024

EA: GIVE US YOUR MONEY!!!!!!
They didnt even mention: Need for speed, Sims 4 on console, nba live is still bad, Fifa's kerfuffle.
Jack What's the deal with FIFA?

Simon Tuff UFC was such an afterthought it didn't even register. I was looking through EA releases this year and didn't even see it on there
They mentioned all that stuff earlier in the podcast.
I've been living in a cave for several years.
What was the controversy with Battlefront in 2017, exactly?

Sheeplish! What a stellar reply, MVP right here
Just for reference Sim City was 2014 EA has sucked for 3 + years!
Vulpor Vulp 2013. 2014 was sims 4, which was also a hot mess
More than that.

Disappointed?
First name Last name Honestly? Not really. Was it too short? Yes. But I enjoyed it for what it was.
Yeah I probably enjoyed fallen order more than it deserves, but I still enjoyed it
"I wonder if they can salvage it" - they actually kind of did. Still not perfect but way better than how it launched.
? the game is garbage

Only negative thing about the video: "At least Madden was good."
No. No, it was not.
