I vote for Carrie as well! A great power ballad by Europe. Long hair was very common in the 70’s and 80’s for most groups but fluffy long hair glam bands were their own category of dreamy! Europe, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi etc. are good examples.
😎 my BFF at the time was Carrie and we went to see these guys together, of course It was so great to hear this song whenever they played it on the radio, but that night they actually dedicated it to all the Carries in the audience, and they all lost their minds. lol
They've done Carrie already
Early 90s too
it seems they have forgotten but they have already done Carrie. You can find it on the channel.
this is the reaction to Carrie. ua-cam.com/video/jBv25N1l8Kw/v-deo.html
You need to do Europe "Cherokee" next. The song is both historical, and fire!! 🤘🙂
-#cheers-- !-
Love Chaser
Europe, had the most popular song on the planet in 1986! And it's still one of he biggest songs ever! But they also had so many other great songs, albums!! Rob squad still needs to React to styper( soldiers under command), would be be a great start! Also, winger(. Madeline)! And more firehouse ( don't treat me bad! More Lita Ford! And more Dio, Judas priest, queensrche, to name a few .
Hard-rock group from Stockholm, Sweden. "Rock The Night" was their 2nd single to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking @ #30 in 1987.
We are very proud of Europe here in Sweden. Not only were - and still are - they a great band with a slew of anthemic songs, but their success also paved the way for coming acts, down the line making Sweden what it is today: THE heavy metal talent hotbed of the world. With some competition from our neighbors in Finland and the ever-reliable Germany.
"Danger On The Tracks", "NInja" and "Cherokee" are also three great Europe songs! And yes, in the 80's, almost all metal bands had big hair like that!
So glad you guys are digging on Europe, they are one of my favorite 80's bands! If you want their softer side, check out "Carrie." Awesome ballad👍👍✌️❤️
According to another comment thread, they've already done Carrie.
Europe is one of those rare bands, the members of which recognised that they needed a break. After ten years of almost constant touring, they took a long hiatus. Reuniting after a ten year break, they then went on release six more great albums. Their 2017 album Walk the Earth (recorded at Abbey Road) charted in 15 countries. The final track, Turn to Dust, will introduce you to an entirely new Europe!!
Their song "WALK THE EARTH" is around 5 years old and it's a GREAT song. They are still performing too !! 👍💛🌼
I concur!
Try "Open Your Heart" by these guys....great ballad.
oh yes!
My heart is soo happy you guys went down the Europe rabbit hole. I was a teenager in the 2000s when I discovered hair bands. I came across Europe and immediately fell in love with them. My biggest crush was Joey Tempest. Europe is in my top 5 bands of all times. If you liked Rocked the night, I strongly recommend LET THE GOOD TIMES ROCK, SUPERSTITIOUS, OPEN YOUR HEART , CHEROKEE. I could keep going but I'm going to stop..lol.. Europe is so underrated in the States.
Yes 😓😓😓😓😓😓
Never forget - I was walking in the Central West End in STL and heard this song from somewhere and just started singing/dancing in the street! Ever since this is in my collection and this video is so fun - makes a Hard Rock Cafe a Europe concert! And I'm sure made the band a little hungrier after performing this song - LOL.
I love this band and had the biggest crush on Joey Tempest. Every single member of the group are just "purdy" as my southern home folks would say. I think their biggest hit in here in the US was The Final Countdown.
So did I!
@lisagriffin1961
I had a huge crush on him as well. He is absolutely gorgeous!
Even though I am a drummer, Joey Tempest has always been my idol !!! Greetings from Italy
They have a lot of good songs. "Cherokee" and "Superstitios" are probably what most will suggest next. But I would check out "Stormwind" and "Seventh Sign" also.. among others.
Love the solo on superstitious
@@user-mx7uq6xp3l love everything on superstitious
Cherokee or Superstitious would be a great next song for a reaction video
Oh so deliciously 80s 💕🤘🏼😎 I saw these guys with Cinderella open up for Def Leppard, 1 billion years ago but a memorable night for sure. Thanks for the sweet memories y’all!
What a lineup. Big part of my youth. ❤😂
Saw that tour as well!
❤❤❤❤❤ Europe !!!! They’re still touring !!!! They toured couple years ago check out their past tours !
51 year old man from the UK. Love Europe, love your reviews. Wish I could go back in time and hear these songs for the 1st time again.
Europe is an amazing band with many great songs.
I got this cassette for my 11th birthday in 88. I played the whole album non-stop. Obviously Final Countdown is their anthem with Carrie and Cherokee right behind it. However my 2 favorite songs til this day are Heart of Stone and The Time Has Come. Jon Norums guitar work was amazing.
Mullets grew into long hair in the 70s and 80s, most guys wore a version of the hairstyle during this time period if you were in your teens or early twentys especially if you were in in a rock band.
Need more Europe
So many great hits from Europe I'll cry for you, open your heart, Cherokee
Carrie, Superstitious, Cherokee, Open your heart, all excellent choices . Great band!
Love EUROPE !!
This song and "Danger on the Track" are both my favorite Europe Songs!!! Y'all need to do "Danger on the Track" sometime... *Epic organ riffing, guitar shredding song!!!*
Their song "Superstitious" is definitely another banger!
YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful melodic guitar solo. By the Great and underrated Kee Marchello.
The Scorpions - Rock You Like A Hurricane
So many bangers out there yet that Jay would love. He'd go nuts for Monkey Business by Skid Row. How bout some Accept - Balls To The Wall.
As much as I love "The Final Countdown" this was always my fav from Europe, and to answer your question the cool younger guys definitely had long hair back then. Not mullets, but full long hair :)
I've owned this album on various media since 1988. I never knew they made a video for this song.
We ALL rocked our hair like that in the 80’s! My kids love the pics from back in the day. 😂
Good evening Jay and Amber! :)
I don't think you guys have gotten to this group yet, but another great group from the 80s is Loose Ends. You should react to their hits:
"Hanging On A String"
"Slow Down"
"Don't Be A Fool"
"Cheap Talk"
"Watching You"
Knew you guys would love this one, definitely one of my faves, actually i had my hair like Joey Tempest teh lead singer, he was my fave, had a huge crush on him.
Other great ones are
Superstitious,
Cherokee,
Danger on the Track,
Love chaser,
On the loose, time has come,
Ready or not.
All awesome, i highly recommend. 😎🎸🎵👌
Final Countdown was such an awesome Album. Final Countdown, Cherokee, Carrie, Ninja, Rock the Night... pretty much every song on that album is a banger!!! It's a shame Europe get such a bad rap, their discology is long and distinguished (no Johnson jokes required). Joey Tempest IMO has one of the best Rock voices - listen to Open Your Heart, Prisoners in Paradise and I'll Cry for You, you'll thank me.
Love Chaser
I totally agree! 👍
Both The Final Countdown, Out Of This World and Prisoners in Paradise albums are fantastic.
My favorite as an album is still Out Of This World, but favorite song will always be Carrie. I will always be a sucker for ballads/power ballads, even if i love the heavier stuff equally.
I even love "TOMORROW" their very slow but deep song ❤
Another rocker from Europe! Actually, guys you have done 2 previous Europe songs. Besides "Final Countdown " you did their power ballad "Carrie"? Speaking of continents, how about some more Asia like "Soul Survivor" or "Time Again" Thanks. 😎
Those haircuts 🤘😛
Oh i love the eighties.
I am a Hairstylist and was there for the 70s, 80s , and 90s ,it was very creative fun time for fashion and hair styles. I'm still working now and some of the styles are back again .Rock on
Check out their ballad Carrie
They already did that one.
80’s epitomized the hair bands. All the metal/glam/hair!
I recommend the track SUPERSTITION - EUROPA for an upcoming video.
Just taking a minute to appreciate the performers we watch every day. They make it look easy. They really do. But behind that is hours and hours, days and weeks of practice. Respect.
🌞
Superstitious is a must from them. What a melodic song.
that solo!!!
Yep.... Best solo ever by them. I love John Norum's playing but Kee Marcello will always be my favorite Europe guitarist.
@@conan5885 John Norum Rocks, But Kee are the master of melodic riff.
Carrie is also good by Europe!
Right now I'm a proud swede: These guys are a swedish band and they have a lot of good songs! One big hit is "Carrie" wich is a rockballad that is so nice!😊
Danced to it as a young teen close to someone I really liked and gets chills just thinking about it!!!❤
You should check it out!!😁
Holy cow, indeed, Jay! They rock hard!
You guys have GOT to do "Carrie" next! A wonderful aoft ballad but rockin' too.
I am t3 and I absolutely loved this band! I had such a crush on lead singer (Joey Tempest). I met a guy at a party when I was 17. He looked WXACTLY like him. We talked all night and he gave me a lucious kiss and he left with his buddies. Oh the teenage memories ❤️😍😁
As you navigate through their catalog Final Countdown just fades away. LOL.
Most people focus on that one song, but they have so many others. They have some new albums out BTW.
Rock is about coming together and having an awesome time, long live Rock music!!!.
As an 80's teen I can say there was a lot of variety in hairstyles from punk to prep to metalheads. A lot of the styles were definitely big hair styles. Lots of hairspray involved for girls and guys.
“Tomorrow” is also a great tune.
80's rock was full speed ahead and just when you think it can't get better they build and give you a straight blast of adrenaline.
yes my favorite Europe song!🤘🤘
Yeah a lot of us fellas had long hair in the eighties, i was in my teens back then and what fun times we had.
Next to listen ; superstitious , stormwind , cherokee or carrie (they completed the album butt the company wanted a ballad because every rockband had one , so at the last minute carrie was added to the album "the final countdown"
One of my favorite songs by Europe just cause the videoclip is completely nuts. I would have paid to be in that dinner when they filmed this.
One of my favorites groups!❤
I saw them in concert back in those days. Joey Tempest and his friends know how to control the stage.
For something a little harder - Scream of Anger is a great song! I love this band, so much more to them besides The Final Countdown (which I do love also).
Great track, I need to check out more of Europe, sounds like a great album to start with. Thanks!
Yes the entire album is great!@@SteveInScotland
Wings of Tomorrow, is my favorite Scandinavian album of the 80s. Not a weak song.
My fave Europe song. Always preferred this to The Final Countdown.
"Big hair" was huge in the 80s, from metal hair bands to female country singers. The higher the hair, the closer to God.
Ready or Not is a slept on banger 🔥 love this song
Heart of Stone is a Banger from Europe 🎉
Europe is awesome they deserve 10 stars
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
This is a new one for me getting added to the playlist! Thank-you RSR family. Final Countdown is great but I've heard it hundreds of times now. I wish I was a teenager in the 80's, so much fun and amazing music back then.
Checking out their 80s/90s discography is a blast, there are a lot of "fun/party" songs with many hidden gems on their old albums but they became an even stronger band when they reunited in '03! Since 2012 They put out three albums, "Bag of Bones", "War of Kings" and "Walk the Earth" that are masterpieces in my opinion, so awesome!
And unlike many other groups that have been around for a long time, these guys have actually taken care of themselves over the years and never fell prey to the drug-partying pitfalls that end up ruining bands. It's the same guys today touring and they look and sound incredible!
They definitely love what they do!
Dang, I haven't heard that since I was a kid like 35 years ago, total time transport 🤘
Cherokee,Open Your Heart,I'll Cry For You,Superstitious,Girl From Lebanon,all bangers!
I remember buying this vinyl as a teenager….Europe was really good!
Last look at Eden is an awesome song from Europe ❤
The hair question was yes, we had folks in high school with long hair wearing Canadian Tuxedos that would smoke cigarettes and were labeled as stoners, though I don't recall them with pot. I liked metal/hard rock myself, but my parents would've killed me if I tried long hair. It was hard enough getting Iron Maiden cassettes.
OK ok listen, if you want more of this kind of thing I will mention a band no-one else will because they are really, really obscure, but trust me on this, they are the absolute pinnacle of 80s rock. Check out "Giant" and in particular the songs, "Innocent Days" or "I'm a Believer" or "I can't get close enough". Better yet, all three. Lots of blues influenced rock and every single one of the instruments are out of this world. 100% satisfaction guaranteed.
Europe band is unique an' still on tour after 42years..!! thanks for your magnificient reaction..!! I can suggest to take a look to their Majestic Live, one for all at The Roundhouse 2017 or at Shepherd's Bush 2011 - "Carrie, "Cherokee", "Superstitious", etc.. - , to appreciate the real talent & love 4 music of this group of real friends.. Thanks again..!!
Europe were such a great band and that hair!! If you had a perm you could get your hair to look like this, and all of us did - guys and girls!!
Please do the Queen of rock Miss Tina Turner doing Nutbush live at Wembley 2000, now that is such a fabulous performance. You can cannot fulfill your rock experience if you haven’t reacted to Tina live (and NOT with Ike!) - you are surely missing out in my opinion!
They still are, saw them at Sweden rock in June 😍
I was in high school in the late 1980's. I have always been a HUGE 'hair metal" fan. Had the long hair back then for sure...along with the leather pants and tiger striped shirt...
The album this song is on sold over 6 million copies. 🤘😎🤘
You’ve done the first two tracks from the Final Countdown album and should really check out Carrie which is the next track on the album but also one of the most beautiful ballads of the 1980’s and you really get to hear the depth, beautiful tone & power of Joey’s vocals, which is stunning. If you go to the other albums then Superstitious, Prisoners In Paradise, Got To Have Faith, Hero, War Of Kings, Walk The Earth, Days Of Rock n Roll, Halfway To Heaven, Talk To Me, Angels (With Broken Hearts), Forever Travelling, Seven Doors Hotel & Stormwind are the ones to dig into next.
To answer the question on the long hair then the answer is yes it was a popular choice for a fan of Rock to have the long hair too. I certainly did and it was amazing too.
Alright my babies.... I had the privilege to see this band open up for Def Leppard in 1989..... Absolutely stellar ‼️💯🔥💯🔥🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
Great reaction!! I've loved this album since first hearing it in the late 80's - especially The Final Countdown, but there's not a bad track on it!!! Cherokee, Ninja, and the incredible power ballad, Carrie! I'd suggest any one of these to continue your Europe journey!
Another great hair band song to listen to that is extremely underrated came out in early 1985: Giuffria"s "Call To The Heart". It's a fun and enjoyable 80's rock song.
I second the motion😊
Yessss!!!! Finally getting into some of the Europe BANGERS for sure! Lots of great suggestions here already but I'd also add "Prisoners in Paradise" to the list for another low-key good one from them.
I`ve had many great nights at Hard RockCafe, Stockholm.. man I feel old.. :D .. Cherokee and Open your Heart is next ??
Back then hair was big, men sported longer "short" styles. Rock bands were known for their long locks hense the name "hair bands". I cannot remember how many had crew cuts, not popular. But then again everything was big: hair, makeup, accessories, clothes were colorful and let's not forget the shoulder pads. Good times!
Yet another great Europe song - "Superstitious." It's a dope gospel-tinged hair rocker from their album after this one. Hit #1 in Norway and Sweden, "only" #31 in the US.
Bless y'all. You guys are a blessing to this 62 yo. If you get a chance to fit into your rotaion, would you do Van Halen Summer Nights --live? I know you enjoy them, but this will put a huge smile on your face. 1986--nothing compares to the 80s, Ijust told my son those exact words. God bless you and your family. Football season around the corner J!
Back then Hard Rock Cafe wasn't in every other country. There were only a handful of them.
Carrie from swedish Europe THE BEST of THE BEST
Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - SOB - a little gospel, a little Zydeco, and a lot of groove!
I was 12 years old when I receive this album. My youth was so great
My favorite Europe song!
Guitarist Kee Marcello appears in the video but the track and the final Countdown album were recorded by guitarist John Norum...
We had the mullets in the 80s. The hair-bands took the mullet hairstyle and made it bigger and longer into what you see here. Some everyday non-rockers teased their mullets more than others, but none (that I’ve seen) rival the Europe/Bon Jovi type hairstyles.
I didn't know they recorded this video with Kee Marcello on guitar. Strange seeing him playing to John Norums solo.
You two have come such a long way! Jay looks fantastic and Amber too🩷🩷🩷
Ahhhh …. The 80’s what time to be alive . From the age of 2 1980 to 1989 I was 11 it was the greatest time for me as a little kid . Miss that time heck even the first half of the 90’s was great too
It's interesting, Final Countdown is usually on a workout playlist, AC/DC's TNT is also on it. Another one I like for workouts, especially bench press, Salt N Peppa "Push It"
The guys and the girls of the 80's all wore their hair like that!
I loved me some Joey Tempest in my teens ❤❤❤. Great band, great song.
Cherokee and Carrie were definitely radio favorites from these guys.
Ok you two. The long hair started in the 70's... We just took it to another level in the 80's when we took over the world. ROCK ON....
The final countdown got more hype but this was always my favorite.
Guys i know this is not the space to ask for songs, but, A day in my life by the Beatles, is one with the most different sounds you will ever hear. It is my favorite song by them.
Fun Fact -John Norum was on guitar for the Final Countdown album but was replaced by Kee Marcello who you see in the video. Kee did not play this in the studio and you can get live recent versions with John
