@@CCrizzic I understand. For those who first became aware of (G)I-dle after Soojin left, it probably is likely that she might tend to be “forgotten” at times.

So basically all the girls represent lion in all shape and form. The context is to tell people no matter where they are, they will always be lions. Minnie represent lion statue or stuffed lion in the museum. Soyeon represent lion in a zoo living in the cage. Soojin represent dead lion where the hunter skinned them. Miyeon represent lion in the circus where they were force to jump over the ring of fire. Yuqi represent lion as a god people worship hence why she's wearing gold and having ray of light behind her. Shuhua represent lion as a pet, that's why she's sitting on a sofa. When it's Shuhua's part, all the dancers have shield with them as a symbol how people in the past (B&W) used them as a sport for the gladiators. Their first dance routine was them wearing simple clothes while at the end they're wearing royal like clothes telling you about the status in the pride of a lion. simpler clothes can interpreted as hunter in the pride, while the red one can interpreted as alpha in the pride.

this song, soyeon made it for queendom's final performance. and in queendom, g idle was the youngest group, but they won the first round when they performed latata, and after that performance soyeon worked on this song, and finished it in about a month. This song was inspired by the film The Lion King and also the story of Joan the Arc 🦁

I recently saw them live for the first time in LA and Soyeon’s also my bias and her legendary stage presence is for real. She did a good job melding with the other members and dancing when she wasn’t singing/rapping but then it would be her turn and BAM charisma button gets hit and she’s all you see. Her doing her solo so g Psycho was sick!
Yuqi was great as well she’s my second favorite member.

I saw one theory about this that each of them represents a different kind of lion and the backup dancers supposedly represent hyenas, lion's mortal enemies.
Minnie is a lion that was displayed in museums using taxidermy, hence why she doesn't move. Soyeon is a caged lion. Soojin is an injured lion who's fighting with the hyenas. Miyeon is a lion hunted by humans, hence the daggers on her back and the arrows pointing to her. Yuqi is a lion who's revered as god. And Shuhua is a lion who leads the pack.

saw this theory too, but shuhua is not leading the pack. she's the lion got hunted to use for fashion clothings thats why you see her in blings and her background

A lion, even in a cage, is never tame. Even bound by rules, (G)I-DLE find ways to express their freedom.
A lion is typically thought of as a king of the animals. But screw the patriarchy. They are queen like a lion. Not like a lioness, typically thought of as subordinate. They are lions.
"No one can tame me." Not pain, not love. No matter how much you hunt me with your arrows, cage me with your bars.
The last couple of seconds of the video (which you either skipped, or did not show in the reaction) show a painting of a majestic lion... being burned, as someone (presumably one of the members, I think Soojin or Soyeon but I could never tell as it's so dark) sitting in front of it. Queens for the win.
As to outfits, I believe they just represent their ascent to the throne: from simple peasant shifts, climbing the ranks through soldier-like costumes, ending up in royal red-and-gold.
You should also watch the original, the Queendom performance (yes, the perfomance was first, MV followed!), whose intro tells a story of a simple girl who went through battles and was acknowledged to be a queen in the end. Also, one of the scenes in the performance has all the dancers crawling behind them - as animals after the Lion Kings.
Speaking of Lion Kings... Soyeon said she was inspired after watching the movie.
There's quite a bit of references, but it's all mostly out in the open. I haven't seen that much subtext. So I don't think Lion is all that deep, unlike some of their other songs - but MAN is it impactful.

Oh my gosh, YES! I had been hoping you would react to Lion, it's one of my favourite (G)I-DLE songs. Glad to see that you enjoyed it!
I see Lion as a song about feminism and having the strength to pursue your goals even if others disagree with what you aspire to be. This is mainly from their Queendom performance of Lion (which you should 100% check out, if you want more Soyeon simping xD) but also Soyeon's rap. The girls originated from rags, having nothing and maybe even being held back due to societal expectations (this is from Soyeon at the start behind bars and Minnie sitting on a pedestal surrounded by arrows). However by the end of the song, they are queens: they are respected, in control and they have reached their end goal. Just what I think the song is about, I'll stop here otherwise I'll write an entire essay 😅
Fun fact: Soyeon not only composed, writes and produces the song, but she is also heavily involved in the making of the concepts as well! Nails, wardrobe, hairstyles, etc. There's a video out there somewhere of her talking about it (I think it's called Soyeon Home Alone or something among those lines? I unfortunately do not remember anymore).
