Mr JT You're one of the best videographers there is when it comes to variety with trains ,history, information about detect monitors ,what freight the trains are carrying, your scanner info, your fur babies and the location you're filming. We appreciate your sacrifice and efforts to capture all this great show. Thanks. Enjoyed this. 😊
Man, jam-packed trains today. Great location, hope you come back. Interesting to see the puppy laying still, all tuckered out and resting. Looks like he had a busy day. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Another great video Jawtooth! I like the Defect Detector changes, better detail to safety, probably because of some of the recent derailments. Thanks for sharing!
Nice day to watch the trains in both Woodlawn and Glendale, OH, the defect detector was interesting to see and hear, glad to see your dogs and cats in your videos now, Thank You Jaw Tooth.🤠. 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲💨
Defect detector changes to improve safety are a good thing. Railroad safety is very important! I liked that stack train - it actually had one five-car-set right at the front :)
Thank you for this video of trains that you saw at Woodlawn and Glendale, Ohio, Jaw Tooth! The close-up of the defect detector parts in and around the tracks at Milepost 13.5 is interesting to see. I am pleased to learn that CSX now requires the engineer to acknowledge that he/she has heard the defect detector's message. The acknowledgement of the defect detector's message is more than likely the result of the Norfolk Southern's derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. Now the CSX defect detector also lets you know that a train has started to pass the defect detector.
Some good trains, JT. We saw CSX 2020 on that first train. For some reason you can always see that locomotive very clearly. **ba-dum tish** Well, another nice time spent watching the trains go by while I ate my lunch. Thanks, JT. I'll see you next time. 👍🖖
Thanks for the info about the defect detector. I've noticed the change in the one where I watch and thought it might be a malfunction, now I understand. I wish they still called out the speed though. It was always fun to hear Amtrack at 77mph. Thanks again for the info!
I noticed that the trains going through that intersection weren't blowing their horns. But I also noticed, for the first time, that the crossing was guarded on both sides by crossing gates to prevent people from going around the gate. That makes sense.
@@ronmorrison1964 I'm afraid your suggestions about cabooses will fall on deaf ears, that was one of the arguments the unions used to try to avoid the caboose being eliminated back in the 1980's... or did it start in the 70's. About train length....there have been some serious complaints from communities about the long trains since the "precision schedule railroading"(forgive me if I did not get that exactly correct) went into effect, and the longer trains that seem to have been a by product of that.
Love the attractive neighborhoods right on the tracks in Glendale. What an appealing place for a railfan to live! Also love the EMD older power on the locals. Nice change from the usual giant GE power usually seen. Great video shot on location in one of my new "favorite places". Thanks, Brian.
I don't mind deadhead moves, just another aspect of railroading. Weird seeing Glendale without gambit. Thanks for the detector tute, learned a lot. I don't even know where the nearest defect detector is around where I live, 40 miles away I'd guess. Excellent video, enjoyed it much!
No, he is fine. We are going to Railfan one day next week. I had to help a friend of mine who lives near Glendale and thought I would get a few trains while out
The first crossing You were filming at You could really hear that freight rolling over the jointed rail section they often install at crossings, DPU action and busy!🛤🚂👍
Hey JT...thanks for putting the Baofeng radio "on stage"!! It may be "cheapo", but it sure performs. After I saw you using it, I bought the UV-6R, and it's a 'Little Giant"! With the squelch set at "3", I can hear transmissions up to 6 miles in each direction from my location. I haven't done much with the radio...just "sit" on the frequencies in my area. Thanks for featuring it. Also in the "thanks department" is this great video...working your "Ohio Magic" once again!! Glendale looks like an awesome place...sorry, though, to see (hear) it's a "quiet zone". Terrific coverage, though, of what appeared to be "local" traffic along that great "semi-street-running" trackage..."SpongeBob" GP40-3 portrait @7:50 is "killer". Another "square-cab" SD40-3 plus an original @17:11 really got my attention...check out the D&H and Seaboard System covered hoppers on the headend!! The real "show-stopper" was @21:14, with a "pure" SD40 leading a pair of "SpongeBob" SD40-3's...wow 😲😲!! As WWOT would say, "Are you kidding me???" Great show, my friend... 👍👍👌👌
You are so, so hi-tech Señor Jaws. Sometimes I just marvel. I say to my old dog here... Sometimes we even bark and howl together. I can usually call 'Jinx' first, 'cause she doesn't know much English. Gracias por tu video. RT sends, manda, Colonia Centro Histórico, Puebla, México...
JT, I was surprised on that first tank-car train they didn’t have a buffer car between the first tank-car and the locomotive. Maybe that was a train of empties. Thanks for all your expert work and appropriate narration.
With just one loco for 64 cars they would have had to been just about all empties. It seems to be quite rare to see any train with only one engine these days. He was moving right along to.
Howdy JT! Those new defect detectors look to be a nice improvement. We have some of those 'no whistle' crossings in town now and they freak me out a little... lol. I'm a retired career firefighter and I've seen way too many people and vehicles get hit WITH the trains using their horns... so we'll see. Some great catches on today's video. Hey I sent you an Email last week I think it was, to the address in your profile. Was wondering if you got it. Thanks for sharing! 🤠
Another great video 👍🏼 How many different vehicles do you own though? Lol I guess it's good you have multiple vehicles because it seems as though you put quite a few miles on chasing trains! Keep up the great job, sir. ✌🏼
Oh ok, gotcha. I really enjoyed your recent Pennsylvania swing. Was glad to see you found something new for yourself in Tyrone,Pa. That's a pretty cool historic town. I live about 40 miles north of there up near Clearfield, PA where RJ Corman has a yard and owns the surrounding shortlines. There's an ethanol plant that sits right next to their yard so they bring a lot of the corn in and the finished ethanol out. Plus there are still some active coal mines around the area that they service also. The ethanol plant alone though keeps them really busy.
@@Shawn_Richards I will have more videos to post from Pennsylvania. I am working on another one from Horseshoe Curve right now. I also have my rainy videos from Strasburg area to post
I enjoy your videos from Glendale without the ear-piercing horns. I’d venture to say that the new procedure with defect detectors is a result of the East Palestine catastrophe. The NTSB hasn’t released their final findings yet and I applaud CSX for being foresighted Also, I live 20 miles from East Palestine and from what I read and hear NS is doing everything they can to remedy the situation. My prayers and thoughts to the residents of East Palestine.
Yes, I think so. I know that more defect detectors are being installed also since that happened. There is a new one near me that I want to do a video about
Interesting. When on Amtrak, the Engineer and Conductor both have acknowledged the defect detectors for a long time. Does the DD now relay the acknowledgement to the dispatcher? CSX detectors on the run from Miami to DC always were broadcast, wait, broadcast the results and often included the speed.
Like hearing the detectors and I immediately start calculating number of cars less engines. But doesn't work well with intermodal or auto racks using articulated boggies. Thanks for sharing all the trains today. 👍
Here in Florida we have a high number of Suicides. Brite line coming at speeds of 65 + those railings are always challenged by those who have given up on life. Great videos you always take them from a safe location. 🤳🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂
In Mumbai(formerly Bombay) India, there are an average of about 10 deaths a day from people on the tracks/suicides/grade crossings or falling off trains, on their Metro system.

It's so cool that you spotted CSXT 2020! We had that locomotive here recently on the Fulton subdivision out of Fulton, NY (to Dewitt yard, L025).
Defect detector changes to improve safety are a good thing. Railroad safety is very important! I liked that stack train - it actually had one five-car-set right at the front :)
Very true!
CSX uses “safety” to place blame on crews. Those detectors are already reporting to a center.
@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars I got a bunch of them that day. that was unusual to see that many

I noticed that the trains going through that intersection weren't blowing their horns. But I also noticed, for the first time, that the crossing was guarded on both sides by crossing gates to prevent people from going around the gate. That makes sense.
Likely a no horn zone.
I thought if it was a no-horn zone, at least the engine bell would be used.
I suggest that all trains pull a caboose. to monitor safe train operation and limit train lengths to about 6 blocks when hauling hazmat!

Somewhere I picked up that a single locomotive has a low speed limit because a single engine might not reliably complete the track circuit.
Just love your videos JT . Nothing like that here in the UK .🇬🇧
I was watching a "that's railroadin" video and he worked on a defect detector that refused to work until they plugged in a space heater in the shed.
