Danny..you should do audio book or documentary narrations..your voice has an eloquent and soothing quality....

He is an excellent narrator isn't he. Very very knowledgeable also probably one of the best I've heard but there are a couple more of his caliber from different parts of the country. One is an actual train engineer another just a super fan as Danny is with a excellent channel as well. And as far as I'm concerned the more the better for us other rail fans.

I think folks like seeing you as you explain what we're viewing. Those drone shots are really something! Glad you were able to recover the drone from that tree related mishap in the last video. It's beyond me how someone can fly one of those things from the ground, get good pictures, yet not constantly run into power lines, trees, trains and who knows what not. And always appreciated are those highway shots as you run from one railfanning location to another; raised in NE Florida and living in the Midwest for 40 years I enjoy the highway scenery of Florida along with all the railfanning. Thanks!

Danny here is a good one for ya.
Back when I was a conductor my train busted a knuckle about 80 cars off the lead. It was a hot Georgia day, I carried the knuckle all the way back along with a hammer. Got the knuckle installed and coupled back up. This was before the days of the three step and all that stuff. I started my way back to the front and I heard a horn blow, this guy offered me a ride back to the locomotive. I thought what the hell it will save me a few steps and maybe he had air conditioning. I walked over to his car opened the passenger door and said thank you. He pulled off and I noticed in his back seat was dresses wigs high heels so I said you wife lefts you take her car out huh. He seemed like he was confused so I pointed to the stuff in his back seat. He said oh that and chuckled.....no sir he replied I do drag on the weekend.....I never told that story to my co-workers and my wife has never let me forget it either!

You do such great videography of trains... it's really appreciated! It's almost like being there!
11:30 For example, the shot of those signals is so crisp and clear that you can make out the aspects of all the lenses, even without (sun)light shining right on them. Looks like the left signal is:
    *R*
    -
    *G*
    *Y*
    *R*
    -
    *Y*
    *L*
    *R*
and the right signal is the same without the red marker on top.

While working in the signal Dept I would help out trains with dragger reported issues. I met many conductors that heard my name on the radio and would say hello as they passed where I was working. Since the towers were gone it was nice to mingle with road crews when ever possible. Great video !

You offered the conductor a ride. I thought I was the only one to do that. I actally saw a coupler break, and the train separate right beside me! It was toward the end ofa CSX G train (ironically also in in Central Florida. I'm from GA, and I was killing time while my wife was in a Seminar somewhere on Disney. No idea where, But I know I spent time in Lakeland, Lake Wales, and Avon Park that day) I drove about a mile to the engine to tell them and gave the conductor a lift, both ways to the broken knuckle. Fortunately he had a spare. I didn't even know they carried those things. Considering how heavy that thing is he was extremely thankful for the lift.
I can't even begin to imagine carrying that thing a mile! And then I gave him a ride back to the engine.

Well you might get that more often, I heard in a recent issue that CSX, NS, UP, and BNSF are leasing power, don't know why?, so you might get to see consists like when CSX leased all those locomotives between 1995 and 2005.

    • @distantsignal
      @distantsignal  7 років тому +5

CSX is leasing or borrowing locomotives because they took 900 units off their own roster. 900 fewer assets to pay taxes on. It's some part of the Hunter Harrison scheme.

VERY interesting for me! I moved to Belleview from Ohio 7 months ago. I'm half a mile from that track and that's what reignited my long-dormant interest in trains. Those bad boys come thru my living room 24/7! I haven't done any filming yet but just as soon as I find where my camera ended up, I need to get over there. Also interesting here to see that Wildwood yard, and those Villages model train folks! I work in the Villages 2 days a week so maybe if they're out there on Saturdays I might join them. I probably don't have to tell you the section of track running thru Belleview has a pretty good view. The Front St. side is great for pacing, I've done it a couple times, as long as one person is behind the wheel and another person is behind the camera! 😆 Very informative video, thanks!

Another great video Danny! I like how you stood in front of the camera most of the time in this one. A nice change for the norm.

Once again. Good video. I was kind of hoping that I'd see the BNSF run-thru with a military move (W867 I believe) last Wednesday. I believe one of my brigade's sister from 3ID was coming back from a rotation in Cali so there may be more chances to catch another move.

6:41 That's the #1 thing a railroad crew DOES NOT want to hear on the radio.

I wish _I_ could pilot my drone with such confidence! Excellent, knocked another one right out of the park!

If your subscribed to Milleniumforce, in August 2014 he helped a defect on a coal train headed for Apollo Beach. Right in front of him a bang, clank, knuckle breaks. He drove the conductor to the defect and the knuckle was fixed quick enough for the train to continue its journey to Apollo Beach to drop off its load at the Apollo Beach power plant.
