Atkinson pulls off a character with a silly nature...but he excells when playing characters whom have a nature similar to his own; that being extremely witty, sarcastic and highly intelligent.
I’m watching it again… right now!! I love how funny it is and the characters are played so well, especially Rowan’s FACE! These writers are brilliant and brutal!!
The late, great Peter Cook ❤ Jim Broadbent and Miriam Margoyles were just hilarious 😅 I actually love this series of Blackadder along with all of the others❤❤
@evanroberts5045 for comedic effect ... as the weedy ineffectual child his father more or less ignores his existence and cannot even remember his name.
My very first notification and I love Rowan… he’s a good looking man and probably the best physical comedy talent I’ve seen! Kramer and Jim Carry also… but the originals are Jerry Lewis and Charlie Chaplain! Comedy rules…😜
It's a trope across the series ...Blackadder goes down in status from one series to the next and Baldrick gets dumber as well. Bur I love Baldrick's war poem in the final series ... "BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM ... BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!"
When they say "you shall be King" and one of them says "yes" and "Your majesty" it reminds me of an Xbox exclusive, Overlord. They sound like the minions 😂😂😂 For all 3 of y'all who played this game
"It's a famous blue stone, and it comes....from Galveston." "Something you've never seen, I expect." They've never seen Texas, either, but Galveston is there.
I'd argue that Blackadder had to have a poor foundation because they were able to get out all the horrible in a single season. Also Brian Blessed carried the first season on his back with chains the weight of atlas' burden.
You meant to write "To me, there is no 'best of series 1', because I think it was crap!" What you actually did, was to commit the error of speaking for everyone else; people who, to you, are ultimately unknowable. - Glad I was able to help you out a bit.

Know thyself 😎
thats why i like the rest of the edmunds but this one is terrible.
“One day you shall be king.” Literally True, in this story.

I saw Rowan Atkinson around Gloucester Road back in the early 80’s with exactly this haircut. Now I know why! 😂
It was Edna 😅
I see, I adored that sniveling little Edna
Alious the black adder. The hole cast was fantastic.

I must be the only man in Britain who prefers S1 of blackadder to the rest
It's very dark panto. Hugely underestimated.
Nope! I do and so do my kids, but I’m a woman 😂
Series 1 is the best and Series 2 just behind I reckon.
I do, but I grew up in New Zealand
No. It really is outstanding.
My favourite series of Blackadder!
The guy who holds Henry Tudor's portrait looks like Henry Tudor himself.
Yes I think that's one of the jokes.
20 seconds in and I remember why Briam Blessed is a legend.
Oh wow, what other works of his do you recommend?
Thank you in advance
@@slamdunktiger Flash Gordon, I Claudius, Star Wars, Shakespeares Henry the 5th, and basically an interview he's ever done.
Thanks friend@@jackmyers8687
@@jackmyers8687 I first saw Brian Blessed playing PC Fancy Smith in Z Cars in the early 60's
They must have all had so much fun doing these!
King Richard: It was him!
Edmund: Oh my god!
*Edna
@@fredfinks why they got his name wrong?
@evanroberts5045 for comedic effect ... as the weedy ineffectual child his father more or less ignores his existence and cannot even remember his name.
I shall be known from now on as The Black Vegetable!
Don’t you think the name Black Adder sounds more intimidating?
No, wait! I have a better idea, from this day forth, I shall be known as… THE BLACK ADDER!
A lot of people forget and don't appreciate how good tony Robinson was as an actor because of time team
He plays a likeable villain, like no other.
A coward you root for.
An aristocrat with no social skills.
An all around funny character.
BlackAdder
Wished it had proper English subtitles!
Love black adder!😂❣️

I love the slow, dim-witted messenger; that would have been my job.
Anyone who says that the first series isn't funny has, as far as I can tell, entirely forgotten the double-act of Miriam Margolyes and Jim Broadbent.
Miriam Margoyles speaks good spanish!
It's not proper Spanish, more like an Italian/Spanish hybrid gibberish 😂
I love Brian Blessed’s hair in this series. Been trying to replicate it recently.
Good lord it’s easy to forget the genius of black adder
Like the brainy Baldrick in this.

That was some of the funniest shit ive ever seen
My hero. Were I of noble birth I would aspire to his achievements.

For all 3 of y'all who played this game
Very interesting
I loved the black adder
The scenes with Richard and Henry are especially funny now that Richard’s body was found and given a proper funeral.
I always figured this iteration of Blackadder to be the beginning of Mr. Bean as well. Just something about his character.
i found this show pirating one day good comedy and a newfound appreciation for Atkinson and Fry
The OG Game of thrones
It's a shame people who hate Blackadder the first miss out on how funny Miriam Margoyles is
imo the early version of the character where he was a snivelling, bumbling idiot was way better than the sarcastic jerk from later in the franchise
Brian Blessed is such a forceful personality. I think I'm in love.
As someone from taunton I can confirm everyone has had an affair with the same duck

"It's a famous blue stone, and it comes....from Galveston."
"Something you've never seen, I expect."
They've never seen Texas, either, but Galveston is there.
The only season worth watching
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
who was better, Edmund or Valdrich?
Those were the days - when men were men and women were glad of it.
....frankly...😇
I think he s funnier as a bad person
I always admire performers like Atkinson, who are willing to look and act like total nincompoops.
Where have I heard this word? 🤨
We’re desperate 😩💀
The King Arthur haunting scared me when I was little but this is the least best series.
Only plastic ones.
There is no best of series 1. It was crap!
How they got a second series I'll never know but thank god they did. 2,3 and four were masterpieces.
I'd argue that Blackadder had to have a poor foundation because they were able to get out all the horrible in a single season.

That's your opinion and your opinion is wrong.
The 1st season of Blackadder is my least favourite tbh. Brian Blessed just about saves it.
This first series was absolute tripe. RA was lucky to get a second go. Fortunately from the second series it improved dramatically.
It really wasn't that bad, had some hilarious moments. Especially the Queen of Spains Beard episode
