    Hey Dr. Dray, I do this weird little thing with my bar soaps, that may be a good tip for some of your viewers, who may not like it to be sitting in a dish for too long. When I get a new bar soap, I take a cheese planer and shave small slices, off the soap. Then, I store the slices in a Ball jar and take a new peice, every time I need soap. The sliver usually lasts a time or two and frankly, it makes me feel kind of fancy. The bar literally lasts forever!
    Hope you are having a nice day! And as always, thank you for all your great content! ❣️

    I’ve always heard such positive characteristics about niacinamide from so many skincare influencers, articles, etc. So, I decided to incorporate it into my skincare routine. My skin became red and irritated but I figured it was the other ingredients I was using, the changing of the seasons, my menstrual pattern, etc. It took me a year to realize that it was niacinamide this whole time. I took it out of my routine and my skin smoothed out almost instantly.
    Side note: I have very sensitive skin and it reacts if there’s a cloud in the sky 🙄

    Concerning two and one body and facial moisturizer, I've always been extremely hesitant to use a body moisturizer on my face but one day was like f it and used the cerave moisturizing cream on my face... absolute game changer. My face looks so freaking good. I've always had an issue with grease and shine from all face moisturizer and using this stuff literally gives me a matte finish that lasts all day. I don't know why and I don't care it's amazing. Also you are like the only person I've ever heard say that that's totally fine to do so thank you!

    Dr Dray, Regarding cleansing bars, just in case you didn't read my reply to your reply; I have ordered you an (angled) leaf shaped soap dish, seeing that you said they sounded like clever invention. They drain the water off the cleaning bar/soap straight away, into the sink. There wasn't a "CeraVe blue" so I chose the grey...a smaller more suitably compact one for you.
    It will be delivered via "The Amazonian" later in the month.

    Thanks Dr Dray, this was hilarious to watch 😂
    Also, I am so thankful for you and other UA-cam dermatologists who break down what you should actually be doing to your skin instead of focusing on buying every product that is pumped out and promised to do something for you. The skincare market really has become impossible to navigate on your own, and without the right guidance you could end up spending a lot of money for worsening your skin. That happened to me a year ago when I was getting my advice from a podcast by self-proclaimed "skincare experts" who were actually not skincare experts at all 😐Their advice included remarks such as "natural ingredients are more nutritious" and "getting some sun is good for your skin". Gah! Thank god I found you and my skin is now next to flawless.

    Love the video! So about the plastic. Only about 8% of plastic actually gets recycled. Doesn’t matter how much is put in the recycling bin - this is what the final number is. While it can be melted into pellets and reused to form other stuff it’s usually not cost effective so businesses will trash the old and make new. Metal, glass, and no packaging are the best choices. The metal and glass allow for it to be more easily reused. Aluminum can be recycled around 9ish times. Glass can just continuously be recycled. Some recycling centers have weird rules, like ones that don’t take any glass, so important to check before putting it in so it isn’t tossed.

      I’m late to responding, but thanks for this info. I’m trying to reduce my plastic use for this reason. I didn’t know exactly how little plastic was recycled. I’m veering toward aluminum, glass, and zero packaging when I can.

      Me too. Pharmacist & Toxicologist Mo (UA-cam's Mo's skin Lab) discusses this well. A lot of celebrities just bung their name on already available formulations and packaging. Some go to the time, effort and expense to create their own formulations and packaging, which is more costly.
      Good luck to them if they are doing it with integrity and not giving out misinformation to impressionable fans.
      Many celebrity perfumes are just synthetic "lolly/candy water" that smells cheap and (thankfully) doesn't last. As I'm a grown up, so I prefer real perfume. Although, I did buy the Fiat 500 fragrance to match my car, as the cute packaging is modeled on the car. So I can understand if people buy a perfume to support a celebrity/brand they like and/or for the aesthetic appeal of the bottle. They're a good way to personalise and decorate your bedroom/bathroom.

    Love your content and info Dr. Dray!
    I've actually had numerous gastroenterologists tell me that if the skin care or hair care has gluten in it that I should avoid it, due to the fact that that hair gets in the mouth, or that hands can brush against our lips without us thinking about it. (I have Crohn's Disease & Celiac Sprue.) It probably depends on the severity of the condition and the placement of the product in proximity to the mouth or mucus membrane. I've since found that certain products I seem fine with if it's lower on the list, but if it's around the lips and can be ingested, it's a big no no.

    • @Mona-xe3ox
      @Mona-xe3ox 2 роки тому +3

      I can imagine that it might be problematic for people with celiac sprue. but that has nothing to do with sustanability. it makes no sense as well as you would say, its a good sustainable thing a product is carrot-free because there are people out there who are allergic to them..

    Absolutely correct about the natural deodorant causing irritation! It burned my pits so bad. And I followed the directions to the letter! Saw a tip on a forum of using a gentle glycolic peel solution to help with odor, and I can say, it does work for me. Being menopausal and having bad BO, really sucked. I was desperate enough to give it a try, and low and behold, it worked like a charm. Lol. Of course, I still use my deodorant, but when i start to get a hint of that stronger oder, I do the glycolic again.

    • @nadab4750
      @nadab4750 2 роки тому +1

      Could it be a medication (not necessarily for menopause) you are taking that is causing the body odour rather than menopause itself? This happened to me once, (however it was not menopause medication); so I asked my doctor to prescribe an alternative. Menopause can cause hot flashes/flushes and sweating of course, but I was unaware of it causing strong body odour as well. Perhaps ask your doctor or pharmacist what is actually causing the body odour? Good luck!

    Hi! My mother is an environmental scientist and explained to me this about aluminium: the thing with it is that it's very expensive, so for most waste processing plants it's profitable to recover it with a Foucault magnet even from the normal trash. That means that a really big portion of the aluminium packages we use (like cans) is going to be recycled anyway, regardless of where we throw it away. I don't know if this makes it more or less sustainable than other packagings, but it gets mostly recycled.

    I am currently writing a paper for a university class, we made a survey about the product country image. Therfore I had to do a lot of research on the reality of sustainability in products. A lot of papers show, that sustainability is super complex and its not easily defined by just one factor. For example in Germany a lot of people think, that the Spanish tomato is bad because of the transportation from Spain to Germany, but it's actually not the problem when it comes to CO2 production, in fact it's the smallest issue when it comes to this. It's already so complex for scientists to do a life cycle assessment for a product to find out its sustainability so it's not as simple as saying "oh this is bad so it's not sustainable". Sustainability is complex and not as easy as we wish it would be.
