I used to have to battle with my cousin (two years older than I). When he was seven and I was five, he INSISTED in singing this song just a bit different. According Denny, Davy Crockett, "...killed in a bar when he was only three!" We argued about it for days, until his dad finally got through to him that the song was about the Davy Crockett who grew up, so there there was no way he could have been "killed in a bar at the age of three!" I've never let Denny forget that. 😀
@@LesterMoore Now you've reminded me that there was a song that I used to sing with my own little ones, long, long ago, that my oldest girl never could figure out. She, too, got the words twisted and it was extremely funny. I'd always try not to laugh when she sang the song with me, because, hey! At least she was singing beautifully! I think it was a Christmas song. I'll have to send her a note, now, to see if she remembers which one it was! GRIN! 😀
I remember as a kid Davy Crockett was my hero. Infact I had a Statue, T-shirt, and Buckskin hat the same kind Dave Crockett wore. I also cried when he died at the Alamo
Yeah, Fess Parker is one of the few people I know of who managed to regress through the centuries. First he played Davy crockett, then he took on Daniel Boone.
Man my childhood just flashed before my eyes.
I love Tennessee Ernie Ford! I haven’t heard this song in years. Love it❤

I had a coonskin cap and a flintlock cap gun. Still got the gun.

Great song done by Tennessee Ernie Ford
I still can't believe how TENNESSEE ERNIE FORD is in my family tree?
A great singer about a great patriot.

Brave man 😊
We sang it like this …… Born on a table top in Joe’s cafe, greasiest place in the U.S.A.
As a Texan, I'd just like to point out that until this song came out, his name was DAVID Crockett.
He wears a special furry cap 2:00
@JimmyYuen-n5n
In reality, it was MUCH more likely an ordinary wide brim hat, which would have been much more practical.
I heard this song before singapore indepedence im 1965
😅😊
He missed about 16 verses.
killed a bear at 3 years old ?
Born on a mountain top in Tennessee,
Craziest thing you ever did see,
He killed three nurses and that's not all,
He drowned the doctor in Al-key-hol.
Oh dear!!! 😄😅🤣😂
