Plus there is also the ‘Ballard of Mike Fink, King of the River’.
Not quite as old as the song..But this was one of my favorites from child hood./along with many other folk songs..Maybe because Crockett was real maybe because it just so darn catchy. heck i was awe struck- i had set which included a coon cap ,knife and pistol;.Although the knife looked more like sting then Bowie...but hey i was so little then..lol. Fun song for fun times..
Thank you. From time to time something reminds me of my childhood and this song. But different words and verses got scrambled. Now I know where they all came from. I remember asking my dad what "kilt inabar" meant. (thought it was a foreign language)
Why was he infamous ? That means having a bad reputation , nefarious. That wasn’t his legacy or image in real life, in the television show, or historically.
Well, that's on me lol. It was a bad call to use that word, I thought at the time it was a positive remark, only to see some other comments pointing out that it meant the opposite. So I own my mistake, and if I could edit that one little section out without deleting the video and reuploading it, I would. But most folks, I think know that I meant it as a positive, based on what I put in the description and that I put it up as a tribute to a man I consider a personal hero of mine. But I do appreciate you commenting and pointing out my error, I may edit the description and add a disclaimer, recognizing my mistake.
I’m not sure the majority of people who comment here realize he was an actual frontiersman, congressman, fought for the Indians, killed a bear, etc. he led a storied life! Walt Disney brought Davy Crockett life to the screen for us back in the 50’s!! Davy Crockett died at the Battle of the Alamo at 49 yrs of age.
I was 10 years old when the first episode aired in 1954. I had never heard of Davy Crockett or the Alamo. Well, I recently turned 80! I still have both 80-card sets of Davy Crocket cards (orange back & green back), I have the Dell comic books, the DVD collection of Crockett, including the river boat pirates and the keelboat race. I've visited the Alamo twice, read every thing I can get my hands re: Crockett and the Alamo. Oh, and in 1981 I took First Place in a black powder shooting match using my custom made flintlock long rifle. Looks like Ol' Betsy. I've taken a dozen deer and other prizes with this rifle.

I met fess parker on my 2nd tour in Vietnam,he was at 3rd Hospital in Saigon, when I approached him for his autograph he turned around and said ,wow, someone as tall as me,I'am 6'5" tall,I guess he was getting shots or visiting the wounded troops there.
Did I??? I scoured the web trying to find as many verses that I could, could have sworn I had gotten all pertaining to the Indian Fighter portion. Do you remember how the verse goes?
@@TheSnowmanvocals in 1813 the Creeks uprose, Adding redskin arrows to the country's woes, Indian fighting is something he knows, so he shoulders his rifle and off he goes...Davy, Davy Crockett etc etc
@@TheSnowmanvocalsAs @Lon6inu5 mentioned, the line "So, he shoulders his rifle & off he goes" can replace "Jackson's the general they sent to fight the foes" from the cobbled together film version of the preceding verse ("In 1813, the Creeks uprose, adding Redskin arrows to the country's woes..."), because there's another verse that mentions the future president that was also ommitted when the episodes were cut up to make the movie... "Andy Jackson is our general's name His regular soldiers we'll put to shame Those Redskin varmints us volunteers'll tame 'Cause we got the guns with the surefire aim Davy! Davy Crockett! The Champion of us all" I know this is 2 years overdue (and these verses, much like the massacre of the word "Indian" ["In'jun"], might get demonitized due to certain words not being politically correct in today's ultra sensitive world), but I was referring to... "Headed back to war from the old home place But Redstick was leadin' a merry chase Fightin' & a-burnin' at a devil's pace South through the swamps Of the Florida trace Davy! Davy Crockett! Trackin' the Redskins down" There are also bits from the "Congress" & "At The Alamo" sections also omitted from the Disney film version of the song (although some of the missing verses are on the album version of the story, which is narrated by Buddy Ebsen as Georgie Russell, despite everyone dying at the end as historical accounts dictate, regardless). For example, after Davy & his friends give their lives at the siege of The Alamo, most versions don't include the lines "Storybooks tell they were all cut low, but the truth of it is, this jest ain't so. Their spirits will live & their legends grow, as long as we 'Remember The Alamo'. Davy! Davy Crockett! And Crockett's company. Davy! Davy Crockett! Fightin' for liberty!" used by the Disney film, they instead replace it with... "His land is biggest & his land is best From grassy pain, to the mountain crest He's ahead of us all, meeting the test Following his legend into the West Davy! Davy Crockett! King of the Wild Frontier!" (2X)
This song was written by George Bruns and Thomas Blackburn. Hayes' version of the song hit the top of the Billboard charts in 1955. Hayes would later star as Doug Williams in the TV serial Days of Our Lives.

I sang the ‘ Ballard of Davy Crockett’ over and over again and again all the way all 360 plus miles from point A to point B . There are more than just 22 verses to that great Ballard.
New kindle. Davy Crockett. First
Trailer TO Show🙏😸. My First JOB with The Film.London W.1. 1954. 85yr now. Still Love and SingAlong Too.😻
Huge fan of this theme tune.Watched it in New Zealand.Happy memories.
I was born in 1971 but I do re-enactments of American history including the alamo
Superb! Thank you so much for putting this together.
Why would you ever call Davy Crockett infamous? He's a true American hero!
I've seen all the movies, but I don't recall some of those verses. Most interesting.
Great job 👏👍. Thank You
For reinforcing This pleasant Memory 😊❤
And Walt Disneys theme music.Took all your sadness away.
My generation grew up wearing coonskin hats, carrying cap guns and singing this song.
nice job..having the song bits
(most) from each eps in order..Well the main parts..although it sounds like you missed a few lines from Alamo..Good vid selection too. Good Luck on next.
2:57 anyone know these lyrics are at the verse that starts on this mark I’m trying to compile a compendium of all the versions in my notes on my phone so I can sing it for myself and my family
Walt Disney loved history , especially American history. That's why I liked him.
This must have taken a lot of work!
Totally Awesome and inspirational
Tenn. Vols. #1 !!!
Ahhh….the Scots-Irish…..the greatest people that have ever trod this earth
I remember watching this when I was little.
Does anyone want to ship Davy Crockett (Fess Elisha Parker Jr.) and Alan Irwin Menken?
Snowman Vocals Thank you. thank you, thank you. Great!
The Wellingtons performed the first season Gilligans Island theme song.
I was crazy about this song as a kid! My mom got so tired of my playing it over and over on our Disneyland record!
I think I just time traveled. I am now my 5 year self.
George Bruns did the music, and Edward Plumb did the orchestration for the film in 1955. From Joe. X
I met fess parker on my 2nd tour in Vietnam,he was at 3rd Hospital in Saigon, when I approached him for his autograph he turned around and said ,wow, someone as tall as me,I'am 6'5" tall,I guess he was getting shots or visiting the wounded troops there.
¡Cuántos buenos recuerdos!
You forgot the "Redstick" verse during the _Indian Fighter_ portion. Just sayin'.
Did I??? I scoured the web trying to find as many verses that I could, could have sworn I had gotten all pertaining to the Indian Fighter portion. Do you remember how the verse goes?
@@TheSnowmanvocals in 1813 the Creeks uprose,
Adding redskin arrows to the country's woes,
Indian fighting is something he knows, so he shoulders his rifle and off he goes...Davy, Davy Crockett etc etc
"Andy Jackson is our general's name
His regular soldiers we'll put to shame
Those Redskin varmints us volunteers'll tame
'Cause we got the guns with the surefire aim
Davy! Davy Crockett!
The Champion of us all"
I know this is 2 years overdue (and these verses, much like the massacre of the word "Indian" ["In'jun"], might get demonitized due to certain words not being politically correct in today's ultra sensitive world), but I was referring to...
"Headed back to war from the old home place
But Redstick was leadin' a merry chase
Fightin' & a-burnin' at a devil's pace
South through the swamps
Of the Florida trace
Davy! Davy Crockett!
Trackin' the Redskins down"
There are also bits from the "Congress" & "At The Alamo" sections also omitted from the Disney film version of the song (although some of the missing verses are on the album version of the story, which is narrated by Buddy Ebsen as Georgie Russell, despite everyone dying at the end as historical accounts dictate, regardless).
"His land is biggest & his land is best
From grassy pain, to the mountain crest
He's ahead of us all, meeting the test
Following his legend into the West
Davy! Davy Crockett! King of the Wild Frontier!" (2X)
Wow.
As long as we Remember The Alamo fighting for liberty is what the Alamo means to Texas and The United States
The last line in the song "Davy Davy Crockett fighting for Liberty" NUFF SAID
This song was written by George Bruns and Thomas Blackburn. Hayes' version of the song hit the top of the Billboard charts in 1955. Hayes would later star as Doug Williams in the TV serial Days of Our Lives.
Stuck im my brain loop jearing this song after 55yrs
VERY NICE
It's catchy as fuck lol. I remember playing this on a record when I was really young. I'm 49 now. Just played at 3 times over. 3 different versions. Brilliant
Walt Disney would die seeing what had happened to his life work.
It’s proof the frozen theory isn’t real.
If it was he’d have been thawed out to save the American entertainment industry.
Shoot, I thought I knew this song: I only knew about a quarter of it!
Thank you!
