Had the chance to go to SR in 2019. Many people consider it a boring wave to watch or to use for competition (i kind of thought so too). After being there I think this it is the perfect place to have a SURFING COMPETITION event... it demands physique and technical surfing to the maximum level as it takes the “luck” factor that nature can have. As for free surfing or to measure other aspects of competitive surfing the ocean will still be the best place to do it. And the environment at the place is great too, it feels like a surfing stadium.

This wave shouldn't be used as a metric to select the best surfer in the world. If a guy is crowned world champion by winning this and can't compete at pipe and chopes it makes the world title a joke.
The cool thing about surfing a perfect wave is that all the little things become much more important. Definitely not a place to crown the champ but still a fun wave to have on tour.

May I suggest to not show ski angles during the initial ride as can't see wave properly and appreciate what they are doing when constantly switching between angles especially in the barrel as can't see anything in ski view. If you just show waves from one angle all the way through and can replay in another angle it be a lot better viewing to appreciate the rides. thanks

This is a horrible place to have a contest. The greatest part of surfing is the fact that you have to constantly adjust to the changing surface of each wave in the ocean which for the most part is very unpredictable. This has none of that. This is not really surfing. It is wakeboarding..
This is actually good to include a wave pool in the tour, to show whos the best in predicted and stable wave conditions. Its the only one in all championship tours anyway, the rest are in the oceans. I just hope the waves are a bit bigger since small waves like this mostly favors small built surfers like toledo.
I agree, it also has the potential to make surfing a mainstream sport by having wave pools all over the world where inlanders have no ocean access. Also this is the beginning of wave technology which will only impove over time. They could have a seperate wave pool tour of all the different wave pool’s around the world. When they increase the scale of these wave pools through bigger corporate dponsorship it will get interesting.
