I’m just gonna throw out there, as a competitor….fights or drama take 2. Whether you’re in the right or the other person, take the high road. Stand for your own character. I recommend the same to the other party. Because now what you both have done is put a black eye on all the sports speaking to the character of some of the “louder people” you guys are in the community. New shooters don’t want any part in this. Set your differences aside, be cordial and PROFESSIONAL LIKE YOU CLAIM TO BE….and don’t hang your laundry for the world. Make positive impacts, grow the community. Don’t divide the community.
This is is a great reminder. Even if this doesn't reach many of the folks dug in super deep, it can at least serve as course correction for many of us libel to fall into this thinking. There are things worth being actively opposed too, but things like this only keep use pigeon holed and unable to build upon the knowledge of others. Coming from a preparedness mindset first, I used to be super against the ideas of PRS and other comp shooting because of various dumb rules and trends i saw in those sports, then I came around to realize that I was missing out on opportunities to learn valuable skills. Now the table is flipped and I've got a family member that I used to share the hobby with that is viciously against the concept of training with weapons in any way that they view as "tactical", even despite being a preparedness minded person and realizing all that we have going on in our country right now... to me its all just shooting performance growth from various different angles to make us more proficient and well rounded. I value all of it.
Well stated. Myself and a couple friends have decided to try a PRS match next month. We’ve been shooting FTR, service and F-Open for a number of years and have run into much of the same issues you’ve described. It’s funny that other care so much about what we want to do with our own $ and own time. Well, appreciate the video…just found your stuff while researching some helpful hints as I prepare for the PRS. Best wishes, Ryan
Gave up trying to discuss topics on social medai/forums long ago. Arguing on the internet is like the running in the special olympics. Regarding the match in question. His match, so he can make whatever rules he likes.
I couldn’t imagine taking matches anywhere near as serious as some of these people. The only thing I remember about the PRS style matches I’ve shot, are the cool ass people I’ve met, and the fun it’s been.
Well said. What I hate are the narcissists. I have a friend that is a 'follow the leader' type person, where he will buy anything just because so and so shoots it, which is fine, but then he'll put down anything I own/shoot. For instance, I'm shooting the EBR-7C reticle in my Razor Gen II's and he'll say things like 'oh I tried that, there's much better options, I shoot the yada yada'. I don't care what others use, I care only what I use for me. He will intentionally not buy anything that I own lol. And it goes on from there. So basically I stopped answering phone calls from him because I don't need people like that around me.
This is all the tactical flex groups who all follow the leader without actually shooting because it’s cool and they all flex on each other and money wins weather it’s relevant or better or not they all follow like 5 rich dudes opinions it’s annoying
The way Frank Galli has carried on about this on his Facebook page makes himself look like such a dropkick. Confirms the rumors I've been hearing about him in regards to his nature.
When there was drama at cameo a few years ago, I was seeing a lot of false information put out on a certain website and podcast. I replied to a post to clarify some information. The man that runs that site and podcast continued to berate and belittle me because he knew more about the situation than I did….even though I was apart of what happened and he wasn’t there. Shutting people down to make himself look like he knows it all.
Well said Mike! I am by no means a competitive shooter or even own a rifle but what you said can be applied to just about anything. Glad to see you guys doing well and creating a name for yourselves and all the support you have received. Those that support you will only reap benefits in the end. DRAGONS!
Being optimistic, friendly and open minded goes a long way. Negativity rarley does anything. And if you dont have an open mind you're not able to have a discussion.
The thing I've learnt about this sport is that usually the main characters in the lime light running it, are the biggest flogs you'll ever meet. It's like that here in Australia. It turns so many new people away from the sport
This was an excellent perspective to share. I myselr have probably been guilty of some of these things a time or two and it good to have a reality check sometimes and put things into a reasonable perspective that shows that the world is so much bigger than any one persons opinion.
I know this video is from 2 months ago, but what is wrong with working to be proficient at multiple disciplines? Gatekeepers are exactly why the majority of people don't pursue or take a chance to jump into things that they might love. Be welcoming, offer all the advice you can, and don't be pompous! Enjoy the fact that the sport has grown as big as it is and be stoked and proud about all the new faces getting into the sport of precision rifle shooting, or any shooting sport for that matter.
As a community we are surrounded by some of most awesome people in the world, unfortunately there is also a flip side to that coin. I guess some people can't handle your honesty or even your point of view on things. Every conversation ive had with you, you've always been honest, respectful, but straight to the point, Keep it real brother. Like Taylor Swift said, haters gonna hate
Outlaw matches are where it’s at 😮😂😂😂 …we are all in echo chambers with the people we like… that’s the way we have existed since day one. You’re you tube channel can be considered one. Subscribers are generally fans and like your content. The broader and more evolved the content the greater the fan base and bigger the echo chamber. Even when we venture out of our comfort zone to a new endeavor, location or career, we will gravitate to the people we are “comfortable” with and Echo chamber is just a pop culture way of defining it. Yes, the more well rounded we are the better.. that’s life in general and well rounded people find each other. There’s more positive than negative in the sport, but people will be people and we will live a die having made little impact on the evolution of the human condition. One dude I was having a drink with said, “by the time we get experienced and wise enough to make any difference we age out, fade from relevance and die”… the next generations repeat a lot of the same errors and learn the same lessons.. the cycle continues over and over…” been thinking a lot about that lately 🤔😁
GREAT video !!....SO TOTALLY AGREE !!,....just wish I was 20 instead of 60 because then I would make it my life competing in SO much available now, instead of, so little to just about nothing 45 years ago, in comparison.
100% buddy. Trying to get people out of their comfort zone is tough. I try to get people to go with me all the time hell borrow my gun you will probably still beat me. I'm still smiling. 😂😂 Air gun sounds fun❤
All I know is to me that hunter format kinda dumb, because it’s not relevant to how I hunt, I’m going to get as stable as possible using whatever I can I take my chamechanger and tripod hunting. To me that format is like the old days when I wasn’t stable and I would miss, that’s how I used to shoot… and so you know what I’m going to do. Not shoot it, I hope people have fun! Interested to see how it goes, but that’s the thing. If something doesn’t seem relevant, or you don’t like it. Don’t do it, I think that’s what a lot of people forget, just because you don’t want to doesn’t mean others feel that way.
1st off did you move to the southeast? I see you are just ahead of me in gas gun points in the southeast region, (I'm 5th) only shot one match so far. Also great video, people would be amazed at what they can learn from people in different disciplines. I've been taking my prs rifles to f-class matches and rimfire benchrest and I leave my ego at home. I have learned so much in a short time from those guys.
Just say who it is if you’re going to throw insults. And make up your mind. You’re saying to not criticize any one format and shoot every kind of match, but then you criticize the equipment rules at one type of match.
You asked a personal question. You got a personal answer. Probably was a joke, i dont know! But why make a public video? That doesn't help 1you, 3the outlaw match or 3the person you are talking junk about.
Mike, slightly inconsistent logic on your part. You are advocating for getting out of your echo chamber and shooting different formats/styles yet you are questioning/criticizing a match with a different format in public forum?
There is a big difference between questioning and criticizing. I did the former. As I stated in the video as soon as the question was answered I had no criticisms.
@@longrangewiththelillys1221 Ok.Let’s go with that…You knew the format of the match before you asked the question. If the rules weren’t specified and you asked to clarify, I totally get it. But the other way around doesn’t seem genuine.
I in fact did not know the rules. I’ve never shot it. Or even heard of it prior to that post. If you want to be angry at me just because, well feel free. But at least get the facts straight. Here’s something that’s gonna blow your mind, I support Walt’s format. Looks cool.

Let me guess… it was Frank Galli…
Oh hes already in here 😅
Course it was. He’s a total fuck head.

This just in. New Jersey respectfully declines association

I agree 100% with what you said!
I dig it. Just have fun and grow in competition 💪.

People are like elevators. Some people want to lift you up and some people only want to take you down. Thanks for being the former!

Much love from Canada , don’t listen to the haters !! no time for negative vibes !!

When he realized he couldnt top 10 in the PNW
@jasonjordan4760 yes in June of 23.
I don’t know but I feel like I know after hearing this. Haha Good message though. You’re exactly right about those type of people.
all said while wearing a jersey…
💪🏴
This stinks of mean girls. This is the kind of thing that makes not want to shoot with others.
"Just to say: caylen is old" 😂
#facts!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💯

Judging by your comments. You obviously didn’t watch the video.
Go Mike GGOOOOO!!!
The first time i have heard "jersey boi" lol. What the hell did New Jersey do?
Idk man the people around prs and quantified performance are intolerable most of the time 😅
But my self delusion is so warm and snuggly.
Go online and call everybody names? Do as I say, not as I do....
All this video does is sow the division that you claim you don't want.
You asked a personal question. You got a personal answer. Probably was a joke, i dont know!

That doesn't help 1you, 3the outlaw match or 3the person you are talking junk about.

Your questioning also includes. You know a sniper, and it is dumb not to use tripod and sand bag.
Not sure what the entire point of your video is? The means don’t justify and end.
#triggered
11 minutes of our lives wasted. That's the point lol
Or you have ears but dont actually hear. Dont be close minded. That was the point. It was clear and succinct.
@kiteokoh2652 our definitions of succinct are differing.
