    For the ladies shot I would think that if the muzzle jumps that much of target sideways, the shooter is not square and properly connected to the stock of the rifle.

    Thank you for showing this to us. It is definitely a thing to look out for. I wasted 100 rounds today at the range because of this reason. I don’t have a scope level and my shots at 600 yards kept on shooting high and to the right and it wasn’t the wind. I ordered a bubble level to for my scope now. At 100 to 300 yards I been hitting dead on and didn’t really notice until getting out to 600 yards. Is being canted at closer distance negligible ?

    At 1000 yards your target should be ten inches. So 10.3 difference caused by a high extreme spread will cause you to be WAY off.

      @@longrangewiththelillys1221 F-class for one format. Anyway, point being anyone who is shooting long range or improving the ES or SD is focused on being a long range shooter. To consider yourself proficient you need to consistently shoot 1 MOA. I’m not there yet but I understand the goal. To consider being off by 10 inches at 1000 is unacceptable. Same as being off by 1” at 100 yards. Low numbers is not everything if your consistently accurate. Competing with yourself to be the best you can is the only “format” we should be concerned about.

    • @longrangewiththelillys1221
      @longrangewiththelillys1221 3 місяці тому

      We agree. It appears you have missed the point of my video. A lot of people spend a lot of time and effort chasing ES/SD. When they could be focusing on their fundamentals and training. The point was your SD isn’t holding you back. Your shooting is. In F class or bench rest ES/SD Is far more important because there are less other aspects to focus on.

    I know this video is from 2 months ago, but what is wrong with working to be proficient at multiple disciplines? Gatekeepers are exactly why the majority of people don't pursue or take a chance to jump into things that they might love. Be welcoming, offer all the advice you can, and don't be pompous! Enjoy the fact that the sport has grown as big as it is and be stoked and proud about all the new faces getting into the sport of precision rifle shooting, or any shooting sport for that matter.

    Games are games, hunting is hunting. I like both. Hunting rifles and gaming rifles for the vast majority of people are not the same. I don’t see why you should get offended over hunters dunking on your gamer guns… that is to be expected. I think NRL hunter should have a division for bone stock factory hunting rifles that weigh in less than 10lb dressed with power factor score multipliers for higher muzzle energy rounds. I would call it the fudd division (not even joking). I think it would be a huge hit and would become a gateway for hunters to try competition with their regular hunting rifle instead of complaining about the cost of comp gear. It would grow the sport. I shoot IPSC… this would be like production division… which ended up becoming the largest and most popular division in that sport. I think it would be very cool to see shooters become outrageously competitive with regular factory firearms. And inevitably, this would spur the development of factory hunting rifles with competition grade performance characteristics. This is exactly what happened to factory pistols entirely due to IPSC and USPSA production divisions. Cheers!

    This is is a great reminder. Even if this doesn't reach many of the folks dug in super deep, it can at least serve as course correction for many of us libel to fall into this thinking. There are things worth being actively opposed too, but things like this only keep use pigeon holed and unable to build upon the knowledge of others. Coming from a preparedness mindset first, I used to be super against the ideas of PRS and other comp shooting because of various dumb rules and trends i saw in those sports, then I came around to realize that I was missing out on opportunities to learn valuable skills. Now the table is flipped and I've got a family member that I used to share the hobby with that is viciously against the concept of training with weapons in any way that they view as "tactical", even despite being a preparedness minded person and realizing all that we have going on in our country right now... to me its all just shooting performance growth from various different angles to make us more proficient and well rounded. I value all of it.

    All I know is to me that hunter format kinda dumb, because it’s not relevant to how I hunt, I’m going to get as stable as possible using whatever I can I take my chamechanger and tripod hunting. To me that format is like the old days when I wasn’t stable and I would miss, that’s how I used to shoot… and so you know what I’m going to do. Not shoot it, I hope people have fun! Interested to see how it goes, but that’s the thing. If something doesn’t seem relevant, or you don’t like it. Don’t do it, I think that’s what a lot of people forget, just because you don’t want to doesn’t mean others feel that way.

    He's "mostly" right when it comes to optical zero after you've zeroed in your rifle. He just needed to go one step further. If you check your double image crosshairs and find that the two crosshairs have a lot of separation yet you can still see both it will still indicate a problem. The further apart they are the more it indicates a problem in another part of your system. On a perfect rifle setup the two crosshair images should still be VERY VERY close especially with respect to windage after you've zeroed your rifle. I built a rifle last year and I did the mirror test on the scope after zeroing at 100 yards. I found that only the elevation had changed and the windage part was still perfectly aligned. I knew the barrel/action/mounts/rings were all in perfect alignment. That doesn't happen always, but it's awesome when it does. :)
