IF THE LIGHT RAYS EFFECT GIVES YOU A BLACK BACKGROUND, this solution worked for me: 1. Add the Text+ clip to your timeline. 2. Add the Light Rays effect to the Text+ clip. 3. In the Text+ clip, go back to the Video tab (not the Effects tab where Light Rays is) and change the "Composite Mode" from "Normal" to "Add". This apparently happens because the Light Rays effect removes the transparency from the background of Text+, and it needs to be manually told to keep it transparent instead of changing it to black. Hope this helps someone.
Love your tutorial! I have one question. when I drug Light rays effect to my text, that effect has a black background and that covers my main footage. I don’t know how to make effect layer Alpha so that the effect background become transparent. Would anyone be able to explain that? thank you so much!!!!

I semi fixed it by turning the opacity down for the entire effect. Not the solution I wanted, but the best I could figure out on my own. Would love a video going over each of these "tricks" that actually walked a beginner through how to do them.

I saw the example where it says gloom in a yellow scene and I was expecting to be able to do that specific title. A little bit disappointed to see that clip wasn't included in the tutorials :/

Ok, hear me out here. You have to decide whether you're aiming at beginners or regular DaVinci Resolve users. These are simple enough effects so I would assume you're aiming at ppl giving their first steps into DaVinci, but then again you go and rump up every single crucial step about making that effect as if the person you're aiming at is not a beginner. You need to set up your mind here. Who are you aiming these tutorials at?
He does say "Next Level" in his video title. And youTube does have a slow down setting (Playback speed). Watch the video a second time but dial speed down to 25% or just pause/spacebar and step back 5secs with the < keys. Hope that helps.

Firstly Add video above your Text then go to Inspector tab and Change the composite mode of your video from normal to Darken.
