I just got mine on Friday and already put 200 miles on it. I started riding again after 30 years . Couldn’t be a better choice for starter but powerful bike that is easy to ride and I can flat foot it at 5’ 8” tall.. it brought smiles on my face in this COVID times.
Thanks for the review, Scott. You have the same feeling about riding this bike as I do. I have a ‘65 Triumph TR6 that’s identical to one I bought brand new in 1965 and watched as it was uncrated and assembled at the dealership. After 5 years and 50,000+ miles on that bike I sold it as I needed the money. At the time I had no idea how special that bike was. Over the years I’ve had many bikes but none of them gave me as much riding enjoyment as that old TR6. Light, responsive and very agile it was such a pleasure to ride even with a passenger which was often the case. A couple years ago I happened to find a beautifully restored ‘65 TR6 for sale and bought it. It is just as much fun riding it as I remembered. On Halloween this year I bought a new Speed Twin after reading many favorable reviews and it’s specs, including its light weight and handling characteristics. As you stated, it is indeed like riding a vintage Triumph from the ‘60s except with all the modern features and of course much more power and smoothness. Fun to ride and comfortable too. I love it. So I’ll ride the TR6 to vintage meets and shows but take the Speed Twin on longer rides.
Thank you Scott. Yep, you get this bike. IMHO it is the best bike that Triumph makes right now and they make a lot of different bikes but this one is just special, it has "it". Take care, Scott

Coolest review if the Speed Twin that I've seen so far, lots of information in your video. Great to see a straightforward review without the hyperbole that many others include. I had approx an hour's test ride and got the same feeling for it and can confirm the on/off "shunt" with the throttle being the only issue. Great news, if true, that an R is on its way
I like the different delivery style that is you (y) I like the low puttability factor segment of the video because I have to ride like that at times and I've not seen that addressed in many of the other videos specific to this bike. I already like the bike and it's been on my 'want list' since hearing of it's release but of all the 'reviews' I've seen so far, I find this one the most compelling of the lot thus far... Thanks for that mate :)
Great review. I've had mine since February here in Australia, and I'm loving it. If you kept it, you'd soon start using the Sport Mode, but I leave mine in Road most of the time, which works fine for me. Your summary of the bike is spot on.
Speed Twin is one of the best and most unique bikes I’ve tested recently. The sport mode does make sense when you’re in the mood. This bike winds up and goes more than I expected, much more. It’s rapid. It’s noting like the T120 and seems more raw than the Thruxton. The Speed Twin is the gen in their Classic lineup and absolutely the bike to buy.
My two favorite modern +1000cc classic are the Speed Twin and the Honda's CB1100RS, either one of them are gonna give you lots of great riding experience and a happy face.
Great review and love the two camera angles on your standups. Watched this one and your Street Twin review to compare the two bikes as I had a Triumph America; sold it and now wish to purchase another Triumph. Think you sold me on the Speed Twin, sir!
You're welcome Ken! The Speed Twin is the only Triumph I would actually buy right now. They did a great job on it. The Street Twin needs a little more refinement before I'd buy it, they need to kill the 18 inch front wheel and make it a 17. And give it better brakes...just to mention a couple things. Ride safe and ride like there's nothing to prove, Scott
Hi Scott, When you said "Take her for a spin... but be carefull, bring your wallet because you'll want to put money down and get one!!" you described precisely what happened to me :) I went at the local Triumph dealership to look at the Tiger 1200.....but when I saw the new Speed Twin, I completely forgot about the Tiger! Of course I made the "mistake" of taking the bike on a quick test drive....it's incredible how much riding pleasure this bike gives you, even riding it slowly or in city traffic. The weight completely disappears like magic, as if you were riding a bike with a MUCH smaller displacement. I didn't put any money down as I was not planning in getting a street bike*** soon, but seing and then test driving the Speed Twin, completely changed that. What an incredible bike!! ***: currently own a 2019 Beta 300 RR and a 2020 Ktm EXC 300 Tpi, for Hard enduro rides with friends on weekends.
You guessed correctly!! Right after test driving the Speed Twin I actually decided to sell the backup dirt bike (2019 Beta 300 RR). The Speed Twin is a real gem to ride, incredible!!

I test rode this yesterday & loved it. My biggest ‘issue’ was how uncomfortable the seat is... Road mode was awesome, but Sports mode was ‘ludicrous’; loved it 😎 However, I was hanging on (as I’m used to the touring screen on my VStrom 1000). Thanks for the vid, I just have to disagree with you on one point, I do ride my Speed Twin always in Sport mode, even in the city as it turns out the characteristics of the bike most, in my opinion. For all Speed Twin and Thruxton riders I wanna recommend the throttle alteration, which gives you a better feeling over the acceleration by reducing the leak of the throttle. Just two little plastic rings. Easy to mount in 5 min but makes a huge difference!
The mapping issue was only on the first bikes off the production line, I am told that Triumph fixed it shortly after launch, it was just a software update. So no disagreement :) take care, Scott

Hi, Matt. Eventually it all boiled down to the T120's comfortable seating position, and to work I'd already done, like adding floating front brake discs, decat, cruise control, and the superior T100 head lamp. Didn't want to have to do any of this again. Cruise and a center stand cannot be added to the Speed Twin at all. The T120 is well suited to the kind of riding I do, so keeping it was an easy decision to make.

Not sure this ticks that crazy (80-100 mph and solid acceleration). i dont need the 120+ mph of the speed ... most days, but the midrange is hard to lose.
This bike is at the top of my naked list for the reason that it does both crazy fast and lazy at the same time...all the while looking like a classic bike from the 50's. Triumph was criticized for putting Pirelli 3 tires on it from the factory because it made it look modern/sporty but when you lean this over in a fast corner for the first time, you'll understand why. It does them fast and with very little effort or skill required from the rider. Oh and you can ride this fast, I rode this with another guy that was on a first gen 1290SDR and I had to wait for him quite a few times but that's probably saying more about his riding skills than the bike. Two 👍👍
Thank you bc67. There is no comparison between the two bikes. The Speed Twin is just on another level way above the Street Twin, especially when talking about power delivery, brakes and tires. The Speed is 2k more but the upgrade in performance is worth more than 2k.
That's a great point about the price differential. It's closer to a $3k difference here in the states but point taken. Thanks again for all of the info!

Yes, I suppose by now that there are a lot of aftermarket things one can buy for this bike. But when I did this review back in March, the bike was just released. Also Triumph has fixed the mapping that I mentioned with a software update. So no, one does not need to leave it in rain mode any more once it's fixed.
I lost my T120 on sunday in an accident. I'm considering this as a replacement. I'm 6'5" and 210lbs. I looked a little ridiculous on the T120 but didn't care, it was a fun bike. What are your thoughts on this as a street bike/mild commuter for someome like myself? Cheers.
Well, the Speed Twin is smaller than the T120 in just about every aspect. Weight, length, height...etc. So you might be a bit cramped on this. Even myself being 5'10, I was borderline and I would consider getting a higher seat height...when one is available...since this bike is new...that may take some time.
Hi! Thanks for all the reviews. Just curious, which bike should i go for? Have tested and love them both. But i must choose that one bike. Bmw r nine t or Triumph Speed Twin? Greetings from Sweden. Thanks//Esteban
From the looks, to the performance, to the character of the bike, the Speed Twin wins in all 3 categories for me. The Speed Twin is timeless. It looks good today and will still look good 30 years from now.
@@NothingToProve why is that? alot of people say this bike too buttery "smooth" and lacks character. Wheres the boxer engine of the r nine t has more rawness to it etc.
I love your reviews very professional, you have definitely been smitten by Triumph and who can blame you. How about adding some pillion info to your content, take your wife out for a ride and ask her opinion!
I just got one and its my second motorcycle. Its a bit heavy for a first motorcycle but I don't think you would get in too much trouble with this as your first bike. Loving it so far.
This is my dream bike and cost 29,924.12 Euro in my country My salary is 800 Euro/Month and my living cost in here is 300 Euro, thats a minimum or maximum i could do I would never be able to have this
Bikes depreciate. In the U.K. these bikes cost half of that and in two or three years will cost half of that again. If you have 500 left every month then you have 6000 a year. You could likely afford or in two years. Just buy one here and ride it bike. Trip of a fortune
No problem mate - can’t think of a better way to achieve your dream than to travel the world to acquire it. That’s the type of story you can tel your grandchildren about if you keep it =]

From the looks, to the performance, to the character of the bike, the Speed Twin wins in all 3 categories for me. The Speed Twin is timeless. It looks good today and will still look good 30 years from now.
Would you choose this over a BMW R nine t pure?! Thanks! In between these two bikes.
nope, I'd take this in a heart beat over the BMW
@@NothingToProve why is that? alot of people say this bike too buttery "smooth" and lacks character. Wheres the boxer engine of the r nine t has more rawness to it etc.
Nice video, and I want one...
Torn between this, a Z900 RS and a brand new in crate 2017 Moto Guzzi Griso 1200 SE............
I love your reviews very professional, you have definitely been smitten by Triumph and who can blame you. How about adding some pillion info to your content, take your wife out for a ride and ask her opinion!
Merci bonne explication ...thank you
which did you like better, the speed twin or the Z900RS?
Hmm...tough question. I love the looks of both bikes. But it comes down to the torque delivery and sound of the Twin that wins it for me.
@@NothingToProve great reviews I've seen both ST and Z900RS which for the taller rider I'm 1.88m
@@hoylej69 Thanks Jason, well, you are not too tall yet, so both should fit you but the 900 might give you a tad bit more leg room.
Great Review ! You get 2 thumbs up from me as well!
What heated gloves are you wearing?
just some cheap Chinese gloves that I got off of Amazon. There are literally hundreds of them.
I wonder if they'll do an R version?
I hope so, I'd be all over that like white on rice!
If you had to buy a retro - which one would you buy ? r nine T ?
Speed Twin wins for me.
NothingToProve I’m 6ft 2 with 33 inch inseam ...doable?
I love my Speed twin, even more since I took the cat out.
Prove that you have NothingToProve...
nope... :)
What gloves are you using?
Those are Savior battery heated gloves.
How would this bike be for a beginner?
I just got one and its my second motorcycle. Its a bit heavy for a first motorcycle but I don't think you would get in too much trouble with this as your first bike. Loving it so far.
I WANT ONE!
hey i love your reviews. next time, please consider turning down/off the music while you talk. otherwise its kinda difficult listening to you
For me that fitts perfectly. Not to loud to draw attention but smooth enough to underline it. Almost perfect.
Bob Ross, is that you?!
Yes, I have been resurrected from the dead. LOL!
With straight hair.
Please tell me which place is this?? It's beautiful...
Germany.
You remind me so much of John Burns from Motorcyclist magazine.
Except I don't drink as much. LOL!
NothingToProve The Burns has been Burned 🔥
👍
Rather have the T-120. On long rides bent up legs make for discomfort.
Makes me glad I ain't 5'10 for once. You think this bike is good for some long roads? Talking state to state rides?
Interesting voice. Are you Batman?
only in my dreams...
This is my dream bike and cost 29,924.12 Euro in my country
My salary is 800 Euro/Month and my living cost in here is 300 Euro, thats a minimum or maximum i could do
I would never be able to have this
30000€? In what country?
@@LokkieF Indonesia. SEA Continent
Bikes depreciate. In the U.K. these bikes cost half of that and in two or three years will cost half of that again.
If you have 500 left every month then you have 6000 a year. You could likely afford or in two years.
Just buy one here and ride it bike. Trip of a fortune
@@cobenblack1876 that might actually works, thanks, good chap!
No problem mate - can’t think of a better way to achieve your dream than to travel the world to acquire it. That’s the type of story you can tel your grandchildren about if you keep it =]
This would be the bike for me in Thailand if it wasn't so overpriced.
