Any suggestions? Im upgrading from my 5d m3 to a EOS R or R6 for my photography and video work.........still keeping the M50 though lol
Well...all I can say is that I am literally in love with my EOS R, however...it doesn't mean that it's THE best camera....the R6 can shoot 120fps in 1080 with dual pixel autofocus...I haven't tried it yet...BUT...I'll do all I can to get my hands on one of them. The M50 remains a wonderful entry level camera and we can always find it useful in our videos. Thank you for watching!
I own the eos r and the 5dmkiii. If youre still ok with 20mp in 2021 the R6 is awesome. Once you try the eye auto focus your almost wont touch your dslr. My only gripe with the R is the lack of joystick.

Did you have any trouble with autofocus?
I’m trying to get close up shots, but the lens goes into “macro mode” and hunts like crazy.
Any ideas/suggestions?
That happens only when the subject is at a distance that is in between regular and macro distance, maybe half a step away from the subject might solve the problem. It could happen also when you don't have enough light on the subject, for some reasons most of the times it can't be fixed with a higher ISO....but with real light obtained through a wider aperture and/or some source of illumination. Let me know if you manage to solve the problem.
are tyou using UV filters on your 34mm rf? i wanted to get a Variable but i noticed the lens element might hit the filter.
the lens that really surprised me is the RF 28mm 2.8 ...... amazingly flat pancake and tack sharp .....

No, RF mount is the mirrorless line and EF mount is the dslr line (90d)

Hi Dan, just interesting - this video is 4k and i see that you used eos r + rf35 for evening video - nice job - looks crispy and not noisy at all!
Did you shoot it cropped (4k EOS R) or did you shot it in fullhd and then upscale it to 4k?
It was shot in 1080 and upscaled to 4K later in post. Same for all my videos shot on the EOS R and I have to admit that the quality of the 1080 of the EOS R is just awesome. Now that I also have the R6 I shoot everything in 4K with virtually no crop...but again...when I watch the videos in 1080 I shot on the EOS R I'm amazed...in 1080 it's an awesome camera.

Well...I always shoot my b-rolls handheld even on the EOS R, but now with the R6 with IBIS everything is much easier and I very seldom have to use a gimbal. For what concerns the crop in 4K....it crops just a tiny little bit, pretty similar to the crop with regular image stabilization. For the digital noise....I still have to verify that, but so far I've experienced some digital noise even with good lights but only in 1080. I 4K. it's just awesome, no problem at all.... but again that's something i will need to test more specifically because the noise in 1080 might have been user error (my error). The 4K 60fps is incredible...The color science appears to be different from the EOS R but that might be the C-Log 3...while the EOS R has C-Log....but again, these are things I'm going to have to verify. In he overall the Canon R6 in terms of specs and real world us is definitely superior to the Canon EOS R as long as you shoot in 4K....if you don't shoot in 4K and you don't need the 4K 24, 60 and/or the 1080 120fps I think the EOS R still kicks a#@. I don't regret buying the R6 which is now my favorite camera.
what nd filter for 35mm RF 1.8?
I use K&F Concept variable neutral density filters ND2 to ND32 and ND8 to ND128. The size for the RF 35mm is 52mm but if you have other lenses buy ND filters the size of your biggest one and get a step up ring to adapt it to smaller lenses, including the 35mm.
