I know that there are many people who criticize the RF optics system for its high price, but we must recognize that within this line there are true gems, such as this Rf35mm 1.8, the RF100-400 or the RF 15-30 (not L). I paid about 450 dollars and it is very clear and small. I also highlight the underrated RF24-240. I hope to have this RF 35mm sooner rather than later. Greetings!!!!
You mentioned this lens so many times in your videos, always spoke very highly about it and photo examples you have shown are so epic. I just bought this lens thanks to you. Thank you so much for your work and inspiration. Your channel is one of a kind, your voice and presentation is so soothing and calm. And what is very very special about you is that you share your raw files with us. That is something almost nobody does. ( I also wanted to ask you if you would share raw files of this 35mm lens. I haven’t seen those in your files - would it be possible please? ) Another thing I saw on your website are presets. Tell us please, when will they be available? I would buy your presets in a heartbeat. I truly love your editing style. Hope the presets are coming soon. Thank you for everything.
Thank you so much! That really means a lot to hear. I’ll definitely upload some RAW files from the 35mm over the next few days. I’m working on presets at the moment with a view to release early next year! Again thanks so much for the support
I think it's amazing that people are still posting reviews and raving about the 35mm 1.8 that came out with the EOS R's launch. It really is a testament to how well designed and well rounded the lens is. Not to mention that it optically competes with a lot of L glass under most circumstances. My only gripe with it is its lack of weather sealing.
@@Dustyphoto915 hell yea, absolutely! I just ordered the R8 and Im gonna use my EF 35mm f2 USM wich is sharper, less flawed (in terms of CA etc) and works just as well with like a 40 dollar Meike adapter. literally no need to buy RF lenses if there are so many great EFs out there.

Picked up that lens for my R8 last year and I love it. Haven't done much portrait photography with it, but landscape and shooting events, its great. And of course, for video.
I bought the RF 35 1.8 on sale this morning and now you have posted this video. I have been thinking for a while about which native (prime) lens to buy first. Thanks to your videos, I think the 35 is a good choice because it is so versatile (+ IS, + macro). I wanted a fast prime for low light situations (especially Christmas and indoors) to photograph my family and avoid using speedlights (even 2.8 is often too slow for the dark Christmas conditions). I hope that the DoF at f1.8 won't be too much of a problem indoors. I have an EF 50 1.8 but rarely use it. Often it is not wide enough for my style, so I stick to my EF 24-70 2.8. Thanks for your videos. I really enjoy them and your comparisons and practical examples are great.... Apart from your extremely professional videos, which are a joy to watch!
Just bought mine yesterday and am also hyped to see this video!!! I do feel like, now that we bought this lens, Canon is going to release an upgraded 35mm or allow 3rd party lenses to use the RF system… but, even if they do, this is an incredible lens that could be so so useful for a very long time!!
The RF 35mm is truly my favorite. My best lens is the 85mm 1.2 but this 35 is my go to everyday lens. I have the 16,24 and the 85mm f2. The 35 is the stand out. The 85 f2 does not deserve the hate it gets. I keep it for the macro feature… good review
Is the RF 24-70 2.8 at 35mm better then this 35 prime when it comes to colours, rendering and bokeh ? I’m still deciding if I should buy collection of primes or zoom …
I own and use a Canon R100 camera. I have the EF mount 70-200mm constant f2.8 lens that I use on my R100 via an adaptor. In the past I used a f2.8 100mm lens, and that lens has super awesome bokeh. Now that I've experienced f2.8 aperture of those two mentioned lenses. I can not go back to slower aperture. I am interested in the Sigma 18-50mm constant f2.8 RF-s lens. I like the prime lenses (and am most interested in) Canon offers for $200-$300. Canon RF 28mm f/2.8 STM Lens, Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens, and Used Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM Lens Excellent Plus condition. I think I will get the prime lenses I listed in this message before I get the Sigma. As the Sigma is $600. I like what I see of this 35mm f1.8 lens you review in this video. I like RF full frame mount better than crop sensor. So If I upgrade to a full Frame camera in the future I will have the RF mount full frame glass. On Canon crop sensor APS-C you multiply the lens by 1.6 to get the true “crop” measurements. Every lens on crop sensor is less wide and zoomed in, as compared to full frame sensor.
I bought it with the RF 85mm f/2.0 for photographing my son last year in may. After one year I sold them and changed it to the 24-105 F/4 because my sons fast movements and my lens changing procedure was not compatible. For indoor I looking forward for the RF 24mm f/1.8 :)
Thanks James it is my first lens with the eosR sinds 2018 and i have indeed little issue with slow to focus wen i do streaming, and dark corners i do most landscape but for portret is a great lens👍🏻
love this video/review. i love the comments about the 35mm 1.8, it's an amazing lens. i have the rf50mm 1.8 also and love it, was really considering the rf 50 1.2 for the past 2 years but haven't pulled the trigger yet. i think the 1.8 is more than enough for my shooting style. i think if the 35mm 1.4 or 1.2 comes out, the 35mm 1.8 would be more than enough for me. thanks for the great video! i did get the 24 1.8 just for a different perspective. i'm still not comfortable with 24 or 35mm, i'm so used to the 85mm, as a beginner, bokeh everything is too easy to do
Great video James. Thank you for the time and effort you put into producing content like this. I started off with the 35mm on R8 but am now moving more towards 28mm f2.8 pancake for travel, which I think I prefer due to the wider, lighter, smaller form factor. The 35mm is no doubt a great starting point but for me personally, I think the 28mm + 50mm primes suit my shooting style more. The 35mm focal length seems too generic/normal for me, if that makes sense!
Thank you! I agree with you to be fair, I think 35mm is a great lens to start with whilst you figure out it what other focal lengths you really enjoy. Like you, I’m a fan of 28 + 50 too, I don’t mind 35mm, it’s very useful just not that exciting!
James did a video with the 28 mm pancake in Lisbon if I’m not wrong where he took amazing shots both of the city and portraits as well - must watch if you haven’t yet ;)
The wider focal length, the “Macro” capabilities and the stabilization. For the price it’s a great everyday lens. The down side is its really noisy focus motor when shooting photos. It’s strange but when you shoot video it’s very quiet. I’m not sure if it’s just my lens but dang it’s loud.
Highly utilizable lens in good light for sure. Wonderful on a gimbal, great IQ and super-light. Do wish the AF performed better in lower light, it can get indecisive and become crippling. Shot an event with it hoping for the best, but had to switch to something else, it just wasn’t committing properly and wasn’t in a position to be missing shots 😿 Sounds like 2024 will be the year of the ever-elusive RF 35 1.2/1.4, def looking forward to it.
And again! Great video James! As a Canon User I love your related content and I love the look of your shown photo samples. I am always excited when getting notification for a new video 🎉
Hey dude, thanks for your videos. Since you're one of the few who include raw pics to your videos, id like to ask do you plan to do test shots with studio lighting as well? I think many people would be interested in seeing how lenses like the 24-105 (new and old), 28-70, 24-70, etc., perform in a studio setting/lightning at apertures like 4-8. This would be valuable for those shooting clothing, products, etc. Thanks :)
Thank you! I’ll definitely look to do this soon, there’s a video where I tested the 24-70 in the studio at f8 or so and shared the RAWs, I think it was my Canon Vs Sony vs lumix video.
Nice but my vote is still for the 50. It's half the price of the 35 and much more suited for portraits as 35 is not considered to be a portrait lens by most. I would even buy the 85 before considering the 35 for portrait work. My 2 cents as a professional portrait photographer for 20 years.
Oh this lens is that noisy and extends so much?! That’s a deal breaker. I was looking forward to trying this lens out with R8 for street but I changed my mind now. I needed it to be a compact system like Sony A7iv with FE 35mm f1.8 (preferably a pancake f2.8 zeiss). No luck 😢
Excellent video as always. The calm color pallets; music choices; and especially the sample shots. The lens is always the center of the video, and not the videographer. I hope you make one just for the 50mm 1.2.
Thank you so much! I’ve owned both and personally prefer the RF but both are great. I wasn’t completely happy the Sigma wide open at 1.4 but it’s excellent from 1.8.
@@JamesReaderI also face this choice. They say Sigma Art has a better design and the resulting picture is more cinematic. Is it worth it or is it better to take a lighter and more compact RF? I'm going to use it outdoors and can't figure it out. Everyone has their own opinion
Ive recently bought this Canon RF 35 mm f 1.8 based on practical reviews like this one. Compared with the recently released RF 35 mm f 1.4 L series lens its cheaper, lighter. Not sure about the 35 mm focal length, compared with a 24-105 mm zoom or 50 mm prime. I'll use JPEG with in-camera corrections on.
Thanks James, I'm still adapting my EF 35mm 2.0 IS USM at that point, waiting for a RF 35mm L series to finally be announced. From all I read, this older EF version is at least at par with the RF 1.8 version optically, and has a better USM AF motor. It lacks the macro option, though.
I keep meaning to pick up an EF 35mm F2, not only to compare it to the RF version but see how it performs on the C70 with a speed booster. I'm thinking I would happily sacrifice the macro for a snappier AF.
@JamesReader As far as AF goes, the EF 2.0 IS USM reacts almost instant, and it works fine in video mode, too. Also, it has T2.0, thus almost no light loss, and is fully internal focussing. I can highly recommend it, given a good used copy should cost less than €400 now - it's price at release, in 2012, was €800: while not being an L lens, it comes close in terms of build quality and optics. The EF 35 1.4LII of course is even better, but it's still quite expensive even in used condition, and it lacks IS plus the compact form factor.
As always like your videos and content, I admire your photos that you’ve taken with this lens. I owned it awhile ago and it was just too noisy for me but nice to see how good it can perform in your case. I would love to see some detailed retouching videos where you show how you do it with your female models. Thanks
Currently stuck between this lens and an ef 35mm f2 usm lens both look really good and price difference is really small the f2 being $380 and f1.8 being $449 since it's on sale. anyone have any reccomendations? I shoot on the r6 and I already have an ef adapter.
I bought the R5 and the 35 1.8 3.5 Years ago. R5 because it was smaller than my 1D series and the 35 1.8 because most of my pics were with the EF 35L . I regarded the 35L as being amazing. Then - my RF 35 1.8 has proven itself to be the superior of the 35L. Really - all you ever really need. Though, I do have the 85L. (sports) , 50 1.8 (awesome) and 70-200 ..... Once again - I find 90% of my pics are the 35 1.8.
True story. Went on my honeymoon in 2022. Bought my big bulky zooms, including my 70-200mm f2.8. "house sat" my wifes aunts house and left ALL my zooms at that house and use my Canon RF 35mm lens. It basically saved my honeymoon. Not sure what I was thinking but this lens is absolutely amazing. Should I ever shoot canon again, It will be one of my first purchases.
I already had the 14-35 for my R5, but wanted to try this. I bought it, but returned it. The CA was crazy without correction and it was quite chunky in size. It wasn’t really providing me with enough uniqueness from the zoom. A lens I do love is the 28 F2.8 STM. I put that on my R6 and have a fun walk around or BTS kit that is compact and weighs nothing. However the rumored 35 F1.2 beast has my attention!
I want this one. Carrying around the rf 28-70 f2 can be a bit annoying, especially indoors. Similar to my viltrox 85mm I like the smaller lenses in general.
I just sold it. THIS LENS HAS NO CHARACTER, LOOKS LIKE SNAPSHOT FROM MOBILE PHONE, NO 3D POP. Samyang 35mm f1.4 was my fav with sony body. Now i got ef 35mm f1.4 and its like a charm. Also RF 35mm Af is slow sometimes refuses to lock on eye
@@marknongkhlaw1674 I switched to Ef 24mm f1.4, Everybody using 35mm I justr wanted something different unique look. But if you want 35mm I reccomend sigma 35mm 14 art or EF 35mm f1.4
I do wish they update the 50 mm nifty fifty lens with the image stabilization. And make 40 mm version as well. I love 40 mm focal. But since there isn't a native one - this 35 mm is currently my favorite one for R8.
I have this lens and recently started doing videos on my instagram with it whoa!!! Amazing difference people have been calling me just from this alone this lens is highly underrated I would still buy it a $599 if it costed that much❤
Thanks, mate for your reviews! I would like to ask Is it true that RF 85 f2 has very slow autofocus for video and its not suitable for making video. Regards from Kazakhstan!
Thank you for watching! I found it to be fine for video but can have a similar issue as this 35mm lens, if you let it focus all the way out at infinite it can be slow to refocus on something close.
What do you shoot? If mainly portraits I would go for the 35mm 1.8. If you shoot a lot of video, travel, landscapes etc then go for the 14-35. That's an amazing lens.
@@JamesReader thank you I cant wait to see you reach 100k and more. show a bit more about your city, your life ,your feeling around the photography Topic, you are very talented person
Hi Tyler - I use a good mic, a Sennheiser MKH 50 which definitely helps add weight to my voice. I can send over some screenshots of the plugins if that helps, but basically my chain is EQ > Compression (LA2A) > Noise Gate & Saturation > Gullfoss (More EQ)
This was so helpful, thank you! All in all, it seems great. The cons are good to know, but at this price also expected. I can't wait to add this to my collection this month!
Hey there, thank you for the great video. Could you please help me figure out if this lens would be a good fit for Canon R50? I am a beginner and want to focus on slightly cinematic indoor videos (storytelling). Thank you very much in advance! :)
Amazing review as always!! I absolutely love your style of photography. I'm just in awe every time I watch your videos. I've just recently entered the world of RF mount as I I couldn't pass up the awesome price of the R50 this Black Friday. My first lens I got was the 85mm. I'm not fully sold on tbh. As you mentioned with the 35 because they're both macro, the focus is so slow. Might take it back, but I'm so torn between a few alternatives.
I loved this lens so much when I started with the RP. Since buying an R7 it's turned into my least used prime, but I'm looking forward to getting back to full frame some day and having it be my most popular lens again.
I have thls lens. The few downsides are: - Slow focusing (at least on my EOS RP) - Has a hard time focusing at all in very low light - No weather sealing I wish they'd make an L-lens version of this with these 3 things fixed/improved and I'd gladly pay 2-3x more for it.
For travel and video maybe go for the zoom, for portraits I would pick up the two RF lenses if they are focal lengths you like. I might avoid the EF Canon 24 1.4 in favour of the Sigma 24mm 1.4 or better yet the Sigma 28mm 1.4 if you don’t mind that focal length.
@@triptychz thank you for this information. I had understood, from several UA-cam reviews, that when you switch to video this line of lenses slows down the AF motors so that they are not noisy, but that there is no way that you can have the option of quick and noisy AF for video.
Lovely review and images. Do you have a video on your processing, presets used? @1:50 looks great. Also what key light and modifier do you use for your videos? Looks great too! A video of your youtube setup would be cool to see

Hey James, thanks for yet another great review. I own an R6 and this lens, and I absolutely love it though I’d like a better fit for closer portraits too. Do you think the nifty fifty makes sense for me in addition to the 35mm? Or would an 85mm f:2 or even a 70-200 f/4 be a better option (the latter one giving more flexibility for other uses too)? Thanks again for the great contextual review and enjoy the end of 2023!
Thank you so much! I would go for the 85mm f2 if you want a prime great for low light, but I do love that RF 70-200 f4. It’s an amazing portrait lens if you can stretch the budget and such a versatile lens for other things too.
there is no point of using the 1.6 mode, your losing way too much image quality. just move yourself a bit closer and you will lose nothing but gain everything. if your using the 1.6 mode in your camera... lets say Eos R, your only getting a 12mp image vs 32mp. or Eos R5. 17mp vs 45mp. that's a huge loss.

@@marknongkhlaw1674 I don’t buy crop sensor lenses ever, even if I have a crop sensor camera. FF lenses are just much. Better quality in every way
100%
I am learning to love the 35mm focal length...
I agree with you. This lens would be my recommendation for a first R lens. It’s sharp and has macro functionality, making it a valuable lens.
No luck 😢
If it were $150 it would be a great deal.
Excellent video as always. The calm color pallets; music choices; and especially the sample shots. The lens is always the center of the video, and not the videographer. I hope you make one just for the 50mm 1.2.
Thank you so much! Definitely got a video coming up on the 50 1.2
Share how to setting video please
Great video and photos! James, do you think that this Canon RF 35mm worth more than the Sigma Art 35mm f1.4? Thanks!
Thanks
Thank you so much! Retouching video is definitely on the to do list
love your vids, thank you . can you tell me the name of the song at the beginning ? I really like that song
Im thinking selling my 35mm and buy a 24-105 f4 is this good decision?
Tough one - what kind of things do you photograph?
@@JamesReader im looking for a lens all around for my travel.
Фотки огонь, просто супер!!!! Очень удивлен объективом, для такой цены снимает очень хорошо
Thank you!
And it doesn’t rattle!!!!!!!!!! The 1.4 is so disappointing. May have to go this or manual adapt or third party.
I might as well get a second hand EF 35mm F/1.4 for nearly as much, but with amazing results.
Currently stuck between this lens and an ef 35mm f2 usm lens both look really good and price difference is really small the f2 being $380 and f1.8 being $449 since it's on sale. anyone have any reccomendations? I shoot on the r6 and I already have an ef adapter.
Because of you I purchased this lens and it’s amazing on my R6ii
I bought the R5 and the 35 1.8 3.5 Years ago.
R5 because it was smaller than my 1D series and the 35 1.8 because most of my pics were with the EF 35L . I regarded the 35L as being amazing.
Then - my RF 35 1.8 has proven itself to be the superior of the 35L. Really - all you ever really need. Though, I do have the 85L. (sports) , 50 1.8 (awesome) and 70-200 .....
Once again - I find 90% of my pics are the 35 1.8.
How incredible your photographs look, I would like to know how you achieved that look, is there a preset?
Is it possible that since the introduction of the RF mount, Canon hasn't had a better level fixed lens? Such an iconic and important focal point...
Another great video! I got this lens, and yes, it's a fantastic lens even wide open. I've gotten lots of keepers with it.
Thank you! Glad you are liking the lens Kenneth.
I want this one. Carrying around the rf 28-70 f2 can be a bit annoying, especially indoors. Similar to my viltrox 85mm I like the smaller lenses in general.
Thank you James, great video and concise 👏🏻
Thank you for watching!
i have r7, which i should get? rf24 or rf 35?
I just sold it. THIS LENS HAS NO CHARACTER, LOOKS LIKE SNAPSHOT FROM MOBILE PHONE, NO 3D POP. Samyang 35mm f1.4 was my fav with sony body. Now i got ef 35mm f1.4 and its like a charm. Also RF 35mm Af is slow sometimes refuses to lock on eye
Would you recommend EF 35mm f1.4 or the EF-M 32mm f1.4? 🤔
@@marknongkhlaw1674 I switched to Ef 24mm f1.4, Everybody using 35mm I justr wanted something different unique look. But if you want 35mm I reccomend sigma 35mm 14 art or EF 35mm f1.4
Agree with this. Such a 2D, lifeless image.
I use my 35mm often. Almost forget about the 50mm
I do wish they update the 50 mm nifty fifty lens with the image stabilization. And make 40 mm version as well. I love 40 mm focal. But since there isn't a native one - this 35 mm is currently my favorite one for R8.
Agreed on the 40mm, I really want to see that too!
As if we don't know its your opinion already.
I'm always grabbing my RF-35 lens.
I cancelled my rf 50 so I can order the rf 35
You can change the speed of how fast the focus happens
I have this lens and recently started doing videos on my instagram with it whoa!!! Amazing difference people have been calling me just from this alone this lens is highly underrated I would still buy it a $599 if it costed that much❤
That’s awesome! Really glad you’re loving the lens. It’s awesome for video.
Should I go with RF 24 with MY R7?
Definitely! The 24mm is my favourite lens on the R7
35mm performed better indoors than 50mm. It is difficult for 50mm to get the complete environment information on the photo
That’s true.
Thank you for your amazing content.
If you have opportunity now to choose the first lens for RF: 1435 f4 or 35 1.8?
What do you shoot? If mainly portraits I would go for the 35mm 1.8. If you shoot a lot of video, travel, landscapes etc then go for the 14-35. That's an amazing lens.
The chromatic abberations are horrible on this lens. Trees and cars look like they'd have neon glow around them.
don't have this problem on mine
love your vids, thank you . can you tell me the name of the song at the beginning ? I really like that song
Thank you so much! The song is Waves by LWFI but i remixed the intro a little bit to fix the video. Hope that helps!
@@JamesReader thank you I cant wait to see you reach 100k and more. show a bit more about your city, your life ,your feeling around the photography Topic, you are very talented person
How do you edit your dialogue to sound strong but also have a slight reverb to it. Any video tutorials or recommendations?
Hi Tyler - I use a good mic, a Sennheiser MKH 50 which definitely helps add weight to my voice. I can send over some screenshots of the plugins if that helps, but basically my chain is EQ > Compression (LA2A) > Noise Gate & Saturation > Gullfoss (More EQ)
This was so helpful, thank you! All in all, it seems great. The cons are good to know, but at this price also expected. I can't wait to add this to my collection this month!
Your photos or video are great! Please, make a video on how you edit photos or videos. Thank you!
Thank you so much! Coming soon
I use the RF35 f1.8 on my R & R3 it's a great little lens
Would this lense be worth buying if you have a 14-35f4?
Yeah definitely! I would use the 35 1.8 for portraits/low light and the zoom for everything else
Does it work on the canon R7 ?
Hey there, thank you for the great video. Could you please help me figure out if this lens would be a good fit for Canon R50? I am a beginner and want to focus on slightly cinematic indoor videos (storytelling). Thank you very much in advance! :)
Yes, work.
No, it’s not good at all on my R50 as it’s cropped sensor makes it 56mm 👎🏻
Amazing lens for the price and one of my most dependable lenses
Agreed! Thanks for watching
That’s so awesome to hear, thank you! I personally didn’t gel too much with 85mm either.
Not to mention the person behind the camera! Your images are quite beautiful! Wow! That's how I see that this lens is great
Thank you so much!
Confused between the RF 24 mm 1.8 versus 35 mm 1.8…which would you suggest for general travel photography and casual video work?
Personally I find my self using the 35mm more for travel and video. It is personal preference but I prefer the reach of the 35mm.
Thank you :)@@JamesReader Forgot to mention, but I use an R50 (APS-C)
I loved this lens so much when I started with the RP. Since buying an R7 it's turned into my least used prime, but I'm looking forward to getting back to full frame some day and having it be my most popular lens again.
What is your most used lens please?
I have thls lens.
The few downsides are:
- Slow focusing (at least on my EOS RP)
- Has a hard time focusing at all in very low light
- No weather sealing
I wish they'd make an L-lens version of this with these 3 things fixed/improved and I'd gladly pay 2-3x more for it.
I wish Canon will give it to us for 2-3x lol. Will be 5-6x.
@@juanquispe3494 Haha probably :p
Shout out BB58
Should I buy RF 35 mm / RF 24 mm or used Canon 16-35 2.8 II / Canon 24 1.4?
Price kinda the same (i own the adapter)
For travel and video maybe go for the zoom, for portraits I would pick up the two RF lenses if they are focal lengths you like. I might avoid the EF Canon 24 1.4 in favour of the Sigma 24mm 1.4 or better yet the Sigma 28mm 1.4 if you don’t mind that focal length.
@@JamesReader thanks 🖤
Sorry James, but I didn’t have a good experience with this RF 35 1.8. I look forward to a 35 1.4L or 35 1.2L
Sorry to hear that! Hopefully we get the L version soon
Can you give us some details?
Thanks a lot for the valuable information 👍🏻
Thank you so much for watching!
so a no-no for video with moving subjects as AF is slowed
you can turn up the af speed in video it only slows it down to make it quieter and smoother
@@triptychz thank you for this information. I had understood, from several UA-cam reviews, that when you switch to video this line of lenses slows down the AF motors so that they are not noisy, but that there is no way that you can have the option of quick and noisy AF for video.
This is amazing!!! Side note: would you be open to do a video showcasing how you light your scenes? It's my favorite I've seen.
Thank you! Do you mean lighting portraits or my talking head lighting?
@@JamesReaderthe talking head 🙌 your portraits are incredible as well, but I’m currently learning how to light my UA-cam creator scenes
I went for a canon 24mm and 50mm prime lens.
Amazing combination! That 24mm is so good.
sample image pls ....
do you sell LR presets bro?
great thank you!
Your pictures are stunning! I will be getting this lens
Thank you Abbie!
Lovely review and images. Do you have a video on your processing, presets used? @1:50 looks great.
Also what key light and modifier do you use for your videos? Looks great too! A video of your youtube setup would be cool to see
Thank you so much! I have presets coming really soon. My key light is the Amaran 100d S with the Lightdome II. Will definitely do a video on my UA-cam setup soon!
@@JamesReader Thanks for sharing! One more question, did you have to edit these images a lot in Lr or are these the Canon colors everyone talks about?
it depends where you are of course canon colors are amazing but that isn't the only reason to the nice pictures I'm sure he made lots of changes in lightroom too@@dwmspace
It’s an amazing portrait lens if you can stretch the budget and such a versatile lens for other things too.
the 70-200 F4 is a joy to shoot with! try getting one second hand if it's out of your budget, and you'll love it paired with 35mm
Thanks both for the tip, much appreciated!
Thank you for a great review of this lens. Wonderful images. I have it and I love it.
Thanks so much Michael!
Great watch
Thank you!
What about a first lens for a canon crop sensor camera like the R50?
RF 24mm 1.8 could be a good option.
Nope. I have it. Buyers remorse 👎🏻
You can use the 35mm using the 1.6 aspect ratio in the camera and there is no need to buy the 50mm. Correct? Thanks
That’s true, at the expense of a little bit of quality
@@JamesReader thanks 🙏. Already a subscriber.
there is no point of using the 1.6 mode, your losing way too much image quality.
just move yourself a bit closer and you will lose nothing but gain everything.
if your using the 1.6 mode in your camera... lets say Eos R, your only getting a 12mp image vs 32mp.
or Eos R5. 17mp vs 45mp.
that's a huge loss.
@@TheLordstrider thanks a lot for your advice 👍
