Thor is one handsome Bison. He is going to have beautiful babies/reddogs. I love his spirit/soul. We have not late Spring/early Summer. The heat has started here in Penrith, Australia. We had 35°C = 95°F. today they say it is going to be 30°C = 86°F. Thank you for sharing. Thoughts and Prayers. Love and Blessings. Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘
Yeah we are definitely done with temperatures like that for awhile! And we can't wait for reddogs! I still think Ruby is pregnant but its hard to tell without an actual test. Have a good rest of the day! :-)
I knows it's a little bit late for this idea but we used to use pond pumps to empty the water tanks. Of course you have to have a long enough extension cord and a good length of the pond tubing as well. You simply put the pump into the tank with the pond tubing hooked up to its outlet, then run the tubing to a good place for it to put the water outside of the pen, then plug in the pump and let it do its job. When the water is so low the pump can't pump anymore out unplug the pump and it's tubing. Then dump the remaining out so you can get the muck out of its bottom. We put our water troughs on top of 4x4 pieces so it was easier to tip them over to clean. (As long as there was enough (clean) water in the trough the animals couldn't tip it over.) Anyways, once clean, upright it and fill with clean water. The pumping allows you to not dump most of the water into the pen and water trees or such whole keeping pen relatively dry compared to dumping it all out into the pen or on the ground directly outside of the pen. I explain too much , I know but I was taught to write so the reader can picture what you're trying to convey in their mind. Anyways as I said to late for this season but maybe a project to chew on for next year. 😊
Definitely should add something like that to the wish list. Although I don't mind using a bucket to get the water out, lol, a pump would work a lot better. Especially when we continue to get bigger and upgrade to bigger water tanks. Then I don't think the bucket will be quite as effective, lol. Thank you for watching! :-) And as a sidenote, we definitely don't mind nice long comments! Thank you!
Entertaining and informative video! That's my brother. Not Thor. The human walking and talking. Michael is down there hunting today, luckily far away from you and the bison. Probably snoring in the deer stand. So you're safe.
That's the plan one of these days, but a project like that will have to wait until next year after the winter. Maybe not quite out to the fence itself, but we are considering running a waterline from our house out to the garage. Then, when we want to fill the water, it's only a short distance to the water tank with a hose. For now, hauling water buckets will work (and it gives me the exercise, lol) but we will definitely need to do that eventually because as the herd gets bigger, they will need a larger water tank and there isn't enough time in the day to keep a bigger tank filled with buckets, alone, lol!
@blackaxeranch That tap is for emptying the watertrof. For filling that watertrof, you could try fitting a levelling system with a float. Like the inside of a dunny system, Google dunny

The bison have a fear of missing out and they have to know what's going on all the time. lol
They sure do like to be where the action is! Lol!

Would it be possible to have a tap fitting on the bottom of that watertroof on the inside of that fence
