Here's a fine example of a band who have never had a good press, or a hype. Yet they managed to "open lots of doors" for the Within Temptations or Tristanias of these days. Together with The Gathering and Theater of Traggedy, they're the reason why the gothic/doom metal bands with female and male vocals are now a trend. Its a shame they don't exist anymore.
I love how many of our favourite records of the 90s/2000s were recorded in studios like that. It was all about the song and the performance. No (or at least limited) editing, no autotune but sheer passing. Nowadays music sounds allegedly "perfect" but the writing sucks and there is no soul. Love Orphanage!
That combination of the beefy guitar sound and the dreamy soundscapes on synth really works out great.
