I don't think you know what underrated means. There was literally no metal head back in the 90s who didn't accept her and became obsessed with her at the same time. And then suddenly all the girls hanging out with metalheads were trying to be the Anneke of the group. That's not "underrated".

High speed internet in the late 2000s and later significantly brought more fans for this band which unfortunately by the time I discovered this band as have many people from the internet, Anneke parted ways with the Gathering.

My first time listening to the band. I heard Floor Jansen say that "The Gathering" was her greatest early influence, so here I am - and I am really enjoying this.
How could you not like this woman, she has such a huge talent, her earthy voice can make you calm.... plus her voice doesn´t need to be in front of mix... another sence of her talent.... thank you Anneke & The Gathering. :) Still got the first two albums of The Garhering with her.... never ever consider as the waste of money

I love the Album/CD 'Always' by The GATHERING a lot. It is still one of my favorite gothic death metal Albums/CDs even to this day. That being said, what Anneke van Giersbergen did in taking The GATHERING to a new place is amazing! 'Mandylion' 'Night time Birds' were very cool Album/CDs, but it was 'HOW TO MEASURE A PLANET' that made her a LEGEND. Of course I still love 'Leaves'. It is still one of my favorite Anneke songs ever even now.

We never heard something like The Gathering before....and Anneke with her absolutely beatiful voice, face and blue eyes was something so incredible lovely to get with....impossible to resist. And this song brings me so good memories when I was a teenager living with my parents and discovering heavy metal....great days they were....
