One of my favorite contrast between Adam Francis and The Spirit is that in Adam’s last living moments during the train accident he was in, he rolled over to protect a girl so it would hit him and not her. This is very different from The Spirits story who was hacked to death by her own father. While Adam was a selfless man who protected a girl he didn’t even know before dying, The Spirit is brutally murdered by someone who is supposed to guide and protect her.
I really like that connection! It also falls in line with the idea that the entity was going to pick The Spirit's father to be the next killer before deciding her rage outweighed his. If it had picked her father than this thematic contrast between him and Adam would've been even more noticeable: two men who's very different way of treating those around them would lead them into the entity's realm

Thematically, you kind of have to squint for Talbot to connect with Felix, but if you try to connect Elodie with Talbot and Felix with Twins, things start to fit in nicer. Both Elodie and Talbot got obsessed with their research. Elodie wasted her life in pursuit of the entity, and Talbot slowly lost his humanity throughout his life, putting research above all else. Even the chapter name of Descend Beyond works better for Elodie than it does for Felix. There’s a chance that they were meant to release together as they were teased in the same tome, but they ended up being split up and spread out to give players more time with each of the huge answers and reveals that the release of those characters provided. As for Felix and Twins, they’re both driven by family. Felix is motivated by his family throughout the story, trying to live up to the Richter name, and then trying to discover what happened when his parents disappeared. Great video! Zarina and Deathslinger have some of my favorite thematic parallels. In my view, Zarina and Deathslinger go about changing the system that they live under in very different ways. Deathslinger is being oppressed by systemic problems but only sees the individuals who wrong him as the cause of his problems, this leads him to misguided vengeance that not only leaves him feeling hollow, but also ironically makes him a tool for the very system he is oppressed under. Zarina on the other hand sees that individuals are not the problem systems are. Indeed, when a gang member kills her father she does not seek revenge upon the man himself (something Deathslinger certainly would have done), she seeks to address the systemic cause, which is gang violence and prejudice.

4:02 There is actually another connection between Doc and feng Min. Doctor was a suggestion from the Chinese playerbase from DBD, who was based on a Chinese real life Doctor who tried to ,,cure" Gaming Addiction of Children with Schock Therapy. But Behaviour was concerned eith getting sued by the very Doctor who was suggested, so they changed his ethnicity to African-American. That's why Feng Ming is a Chinese Gamer, as a reference to that.
Felix and Blight are actually similar characters with similar stories. Both of them are regarded as brilliant and talented men in their respective fields, but their ambition ends up taking both of them down destructive paths.
I would love to see a full video on how the Artist and Jonah are connected! A little is said in Jonah’s tome lore mentioning he saw a bird lady and the mention of Mora (The Artist’s last name). Would love to see how they are connected further!
The Artists story in Chilé takes place during one of the worst dictatorships the world has ever seen. After a Coop of the government (that was funded and backed by the US CIA), the cartel had reign to do bad shit (because the government was corrupt and the cartel could pay them off). The “cartel” = the Chiléan government. Jonah worked for the CIA, during modern times, (the US continues to stick its nose into other countries business when it has something to gain economically), and unintentionally helped the CIA to caused political distress in other countries (Iran, Iraq, etc). Of course this is all relative. If that’s how you wanna see it, I’m just trying to frame it how it relates to the Artist but you could very well think Jonah/the CIA are doing the right thing 🤷♂️ I won’t tell you what’s what. But anyways, the direct correlation is that Artist is a victim of CIA providing resources to the dictatorship in the country. Jonah is one of those CIA agents working behind the scenes who is unintentionally causing chaos similar to the Chiléan Coup in the present time. They also have a cool “Abstract Art” and “Numbers” type of opposition going on. Both kinds of intelligence take a special mind.
There is also a connection between The Blight and The Dredge. In Blights tome "Human Quotient" he writes some equations about "Fold Energy" and thinks that if enough people focused their thoughts on a being, it could be brought into existance. This sounds really similar to way that the Fold created the Dredge, by constantly praying, meditating, and fearing the Draunee.
We find out Spirit likely wouldn't have had a different path in life. Though Adam's connection is that giving someone potential might give them the opportunity to change ' maybe'- Spirit was cursed literally. Her father wasn't just some shit-bag psycho killer, he was being haunted by the entity and the Oni's curse that runs that particular Family's veins, when he tried to take time from his job to get help they threatened to fire him- Which made him go crazy and kill everyone he loved and was working for in the first place. I'm not even sure if he is killed himself, or what became of him, it's just Spirit gave into her rage at the very end and unfortunately damned their lineage forever.
Another really out there connection between David and the huntress thematically is the "apex predator" trope. David in lore is a tough guy archetype and I can see the irony in him finally meeting someone more powerful than him physically
Theres actually another connection. The parents of Dwight, Jake, Yui, and Zarina all met up after their children were taken into the fog and know about the entity, and even managed to enter the fog somehow. It's in the malevolence tome.
Really cool video! One thing I noticed in Ghostface's and Mikaela's tome is that I think the families of our survivors are looking for them. I remember reading about a group of people, some with the same last names as our survivors. I'm curious what's gonna come out of that.
I also like about the theme between Legion and Jeff is how they both feel like outsiders in their community, alone in the dark but unlike the Legion Jeff found a better way to his life
The tomb raider secret sound effect between each chapter. I picked up on that right away. I love this video. 💕 I didn’t realize how connected the survivors and characters are.
I should add that doctor and feng have a deeper connection (original concept) the doctor was inspired from a chinese doctor that tested electroshock therapy on kid that played too much video game and later became what he is now
this is one of my favourite videos about this game, i don't usually care about the characters in anything besides gameplay but it was pretty enjoyable to look into that a bit with this video :D
imo both Blight and Felix have lore relating to them destroying their lives to pursue obsession. Felix sacrificed a happy family life and got taken by The Entity while trying to find information about his father, and the Blight destroyed his mind and body by taking the Pustula serum.
The doctor and feng mins connection is really more about the Chinese doctor who used electroshock therapy to try an “cure” people who were addicted to the internet i.e feng min the obsessive e-sports player
I disagree that David and Huntress's connections are the weakest of the pairings. I agree with the connections you drew, but I think the connection between David and Huntress is that social isolation/confusion can happen regardless of upbringing, AS WELL AS their strong desires for love as a result of having holes in their hearts, having their minds warped by parent(s), and the prevalence of instincts in their lives. Both David and Huntress ended up as major social outcasts who deep down just want someone to love unconditionally, but they never get that as a result of (1) never having felt that kind of love before, (2) not understanding that type of love BECAUSE they've never felt it before, or (3) not realizing that they had that love until it's too late. Growing up in a very rich family, David is constantly pushing people/partners away (out of instinct, even though it is not at all what he ACTUALLY wants to do) because his extremely wealthy parents have brainwashed him into being ashamed of who he is and to keep it all bottled up, leading to countless violent outbursts that arise out of instinct to stay guarded and frustration at having these instincts and having to hide who he is. These outbursts and his general coldness towards others keep him extremely isolated, but all he wants is to feel love and have someone and live the life he wants to live, but his instincts prevent that. He found that kind of love with Tristan, but didn't recognize/appreciate it while he had it, and he spent the rest of his life until the night the Entity took him trying to fill the hole in his heart that Tristan created with alcohol and fighting. He had the realization that Tristan was his true love too late, lost his chance, and was almost immediately taken by the Entity after that. Growing up in the woods, the Huntress is extraordinarily socially isolated to the point of being feral, not being able to speak and acting on instincts alone like an animal. She grew up with her mom who only taught about hunting and survival and nothing else, until she died when the Huntress was young, which created a hole in her heart that she desperately wanted to fill with love and affection. This leads her to kill families and kidnap their daughters so that she could have a source of love, but she doesn't understand love or the children she kidnaps, as they all starve to death because the Huntress doesn't realize they need to eat, forever keeping her from ever feeling that love. As I was writing this, I came up with a bunch of other connections in the themes of their lores, but these are the biggies for me. The last one I will add is that they were both taken by the Entity right after they had both lost their shots at love: David was taken right after he lost Tristan for good, and the Huntress was taken after WW1 had started and all of the families stopped coming to her forest, just German soldiers fighting in the war, so there were no more children for her to try to get love from.
I thought huntress and David's theme was protection: both seek to protect the ones they care about. The difference is, the people David cares about are his friends (and maybe fellow survivors) while Huntress tries to "protect" the little girls she kidnaps even though her attempts to protect them are what lead to their deaths.
Huntress and David both show themes of protection and protection what they care about with disregard for themselves, David with his friends and huntress with her dolls and children(?) I don’t read the lore to much but this connection is one that immediately comes to mind
For me, it was always headcanon that Doctor was indirectly responsible for the Dredge being in the Entitys realm. From what i understood, the Black Vale cult summons beings like Dredge to sacrifice people to it and thereby to the entity. So its kinda: Summon -> Feast -> Dismissal. But during the time the Dredge was allowed to roam free, Otto came back to Lerys...and met his end by Herman. So with the summoner dead, Dredge couldnt be send back, so the Entity saw a new recruit. Its only my personal headcanon, so i may be completely wrong. But i like to think of it as true
talking about the connection between Jeff & the Legion funny enough reminded me of a previous match I had in the game. I was playing as Legion on Coldwind Farm and one of my survivors was, ironically, a Jeff. the Jeff ended up being the last survivor and I was generous enough and gave him the hatch. Guess you could say what I did was a friendly repayment for Jeff's commission for the Legion.
It's stated that Felix stumbled upon a place from the days of the Opium War filled with syringes and skeletons during his life before the Entity took him. Apparently it was tied to the serum made by Talbot Grimes.
My Favorite Connection is James Sunderland and Pyramid Head. Whenever I'm playing as James and Get Pyramid they usually let me go or don't attack me at all until everyone else is dead
With the Tools of Torment chapter, not only are the Lyra twins and Skull Merchant related through location and lore, but also through the themes of achievement and self fulfillment. Adriana gains her self fulfillment and achievement through becoming the best there is, both as a business executive and while hunting her prey as The Skull Merchant. Meanwhile, Thalita and Renato gain achievement through helping others and building a strong community through Fun Kites Rio. I am just applying this video's concept to the most recently released chapter.
Also the spark of madness can connect from the concept. Chinese players were asked of for a killer concept and they told bhvr about a twisted man who used shock therapy on kids and teens to end their "gaming addictions"

I like to think that the Doctor not only knows of the existence of The Dredge, but that his experiments were in part to manifest negative thoughts to summon The Dredge, just as The Dredge entered the Garden of Joy through negative thoughts and emotions of the people living there.
@@ELLI0TR0DGER but we, and The Doctor even more than us, know so little about it. Perhaps it could re-created or summoned. It probably can't, but it's not something The Doctor could definitely rule out, so I think he'd try
Honestly I thought David and Huntress' theme would be protection. As David goes to protect the weak, shown in we're going to live forever. And huntress always wanting to protect the little girls from the villages.
It's because those are medium vaults, so the hitbox stays behind unlike the model. I have a vid on my channel called chase tips that show this in more detail!
david and huntress also share the theme of family, even a specific parent, having a huge impact on your life because of their choices. i think they're also supposed to be foils; the inverse of each other in a sense. huntress lived the way she did because it was all she knew because of her mother. but her mother also genuinely loved and cared for her, and died when she was young. that trauma turned the huntress into someone who would hurt others. david also used to live life according to how he thought it was supposed to be because of his father's influence on him. but david's father abused him and didn't care about his happiness, and there was no death to keep him from continuing to do so. but david's trauma, while it also gave him the same tendencies to lash out and use violence as huntress, made him want to protect others from harm.
I think David and the Huntress theme is: protection. Both try to protect people but always seem to step a little too far. Like David punching his father (he deserve it tho) and then getting disowned but then trying to help his friend with the loan sharks but also scarring a guy shitless with making him believe he'll set him on fire. While the huntress also tried to protect: her house and the little girls but she kills them by mistake, she doesn't know how to properly take care of them. I think both try to be protective of the things they love and cherish but don't know how properly take care of them aside from punching/killing things.
feng mins connection to doctor is that he's based off a real doctor who used electrotherapy to "correct" teens who were addicted to technology, and feng is obv a gamer so thats how theyre linked
One other instance in which a killer's addon directly references their respective survivor is Sadako's addon Yoichi's Fishing Net. It probably wasn't mentioned because it is a licensed chapter, but I've always wondered about that connection because Sadako had no knowledge of Yoichi's existence, especially when he was a kid (which is what the addon references)
Feng Min and the doctor are actually more related then just obsessions. They’re both also based on the real life doctor, Yang Yongxin, who advocated and performed electroconvulsive therapy on Chinese citizens who were addicted to video games. While obviously Feng Min would represent Yang’s victims while the doctor represents The doctor himself.
Legion/Jeff story is extra sad because Legion was taken before Jeff. So when he sees them again they haven't aged a day, but Frank sees Jeff got to grow old
I remember first picking up this game on switch and the switch base game already comes with a few of the dlcs already included. I remember finding out which survivor belonged with which killer in their respective DLCs and was surprised bc I couldn't see the connection between them
Huntress and David shared a love of combat. Huntress loved killing small animals and got to more and more dangerous game until she became so obsessed with fighting that she took on armed soldiers. David was born into a wealthy family, but he loved fighting so much he frequented bars just to start fights with people. Huntress was born with nothing, but David was born with everything. Huntress always killed her prey, but David just wanted to fight. The theme is combat
Hey mintskull love your vids man , you showed up out of nowhere and your already one of my favorite dbd creators my favorite videos yoy make are the fun fact ones keep up the good work bro
The part about Hag isn’t really true. She didn’t abuse the hexes and her grandmother didn’t teach her anything. She used a symbol she didn’t know the meaning of and assumed it was a good luck charm. Her friend overused the symbol after seeing her pass the exam and died shortly after, which made Lisa stop using the hexes right until she was captured and cannibalized. The entire luck part is essentially superficial. In the first place it was explained that the symbol was used to turn a cannibal into a tree, which is pretty close to what Hag has become, a dry, tree-like maneater.
The Doctor and Feng’s connection is through Doctor’s inspiration. Doctor is based off a Chinese doctors who uses shock therapy and essentially tortures gamers to “cure” internet addiction. That’s why Feng is Chinese gamer
I never understood how Ace and Hag would make it a chapter but one main similarity i found is that they both rely one something. Hag with hexes Ace with luck
An important detail you forgot about the Doctor and Feng connection is that Doctor was based off an irl Chinese Doctor Who used cruel and unusual electroshock "therapies" to try and treat video game addictions, usually on children

@@MintSkull I have evidence for that

There is actually another connection between Doc and feng Min.
I will cover that in more detail on the future Doctor video :D
That is 100% what I believe he was alluding to. Very interesting.
@@raingerdiesalot ohhh yeah I get that now thank you!
I appreciate the inclusion of the Tomb Raider secret jingle that shows up at the beginning of each segment.
That Tomb Raider Chime, omg ! Best YT Channel ever
Really cool video! One thing I noticed in Ghostface's and Mikaela's tome is that I think the families of our survivors are looking for them. I remember reading about a group of people, some with the same last names as our survivors. I'm curious what's gonna come out of that.
"Babylonians didn't have tv or twitch, instead, they had God." This line goes hard.
I should add that doctor and feng have a deeper connection (original concept) the doctor was inspired from a chinese doctor that tested electroshock therapy on kid that played too much video game and later became what he is now
That topic will be covered in the Doctor video
7:48 you did not just put the among us sound effect dawg
I might have
this is one of my favourite videos about this game, i don't usually care about the characters in anything besides gameplay but it was pretty enjoyable to look into that a bit with this video :D
imo both Blight and Felix have lore relating to them destroying their lives to pursue obsession.
I love how you played the Among Us sound for Jeff and Legion “Darkness Among Us” chapter
I believe that trickster and Kate have more of a connection cuz they are both singers and I don't doubt that ji-woon HAK had traveled as well
I disagree that David and Huntress's connections are the weakest of the pairings.
Omg the tomb Raider secret sound effect ❤ it hit me by surprise so hard, awesome video
I also think that Ace is connected to Trapper. They’re both males, have 2 legs, 2 arms, 1 head. Shocking, i know, not even veteran players realize.
"The Babylonians did not have 'tv' or 'twitch', they had God" what a line
3:27 is it because BHVR wanted to add a Chinese-inspired killer, but because it's Inspired by a person that is still alive they change the race?
You really had me busting my chops with those quippy doctor jokes.
Really well made video! Love the editing!
Thank you :D
always a good day when mintskull uploads
I thought huntress and David's theme was protection: both seek to protect the ones they care about. The difference is, the people David cares about are his friends (and maybe fellow survivors) while Huntress tries to "protect" the little girls she kidnaps even though her attempts to protect them are what lead to their deaths.
Nice video!! Love to hear how informed you are within the dbd universe 🙌🏻💙
The docotr and feng min likes to stay in the entity realms, for feng is a game and for doctor he can experiment with his victims
Wow you pointed out some things I never noticed. Good job!
Huntress and David both show themes of protection and protection what they care about with disregard for themselves, David with his friends and huntress with her dolls and children(?) I don’t read the lore to much but this connection is one that immediately comes to mind
Yay finally I've been requesting this for awhile not for you but for someone else though I'm happy you've done it
For me, it was always headcanon that Doctor was indirectly responsible for the Dredge being in the Entitys realm.
10:00 has to be the best quote of any dbd UA-camr

"Babilonians didn't have TV or Twitch, instead, they had God"
I am keeping this
talking about the connection between Jeff & the Legion funny enough reminded me of a previous match I had in the game.
Not many people know this but Nea and Nurse also have another connection. They’re both sweaty af
Felix and blight both pursued the entity at some point
Also the spark of madness can connect from the concept. Chinese players were asked of for a killer concept and they told bhvr about a twisted man who used shock therapy on kids and teens to end their "gaming addictions"
This video is amazing alot of work put into it no doubt! & I appreciate you making this so much as its very insightful when I don't get to spend more time reading all the characters lore or even some of my favorites due to only being able to play this when using my phones Hotspot to play luckly my phone has unlimited data for vids like these tho!
I like to think that the Doctor not only knows of the existence of The Dredge, but that his experiments were in part to manifest negative thoughts to summon The Dredge, just as The Dredge entered the Garden of Joy through negative thoughts and emotions of the people living there.
The dredge was already manifested by the time doctor and his mentor met
@@ELLI0TR0DGER but we, and The Doctor even more than us, know so little about it. Perhaps it could re-created or summoned. It probably can't, but it's not something The Doctor could definitely rule out, so I think he'd try
@@jwil0508 maybe but I don't think he has a chance in the realm
Honestly I thought David and Huntress' theme would be protection. As David goes to protect the weak, shown in we're going to live forever. And huntress always wanting to protect the little girls from the villages.
I cannot explain the ungodly snort I made hearing the among us jingle when it got to the Darkness Among Us chapter
With Felix and Blight, I think Felix also might be some type of representation of Blight before he was changed & disfigured by the serum
Amazing video, very interesting. (But one thing: I wonder how some of your window hits actually hitted the survivors ;D )
It's because those are medium vaults, so the hitbox stays behind unlike the model. I have a vid on my channel called chase tips that show this in more detail!
@@MintSkull Oh well even those I rarely hit, but thanks for the information :)
10:02 Now this is a statement I can get behind
Yeah I was shocked when I learned that they didn't have that, imagine how boring it had to be back in the days💀
@@MintSkull I was talking about the contrast between having Twitch/UA-cam and *accepting the Lord into their Life*
david and huntress also share the theme of family, even a specific parent, having a huge impact on your life because of their choices. i think they're also supposed to be foils; the inverse of each other in a sense. huntress lived the way she did because it was all she knew because of her mother. but her mother also genuinely loved and cared for her, and died when she was young. that trauma turned the huntress into someone who would hurt others. david also used to live life according to how he thought it was supposed to be because of his father's influence on him. but david's father abused him and didn't care about his happiness, and there was no death to keep him from continuing to do so. but david's trauma, while it also gave him the same tendencies to lash out and use violence as huntress, made him want to protect others from harm.
Your content become more and more qualitative I’m really happy to found out about this channel
IIRC, Kate and The Clown are also connected in that Kate was a victim of the Clown who managed to escape
Feng and Doctor's common theme is Pavlovian conditioning. Many video games are compared to Skinner boxes. Doctor would know all about that.
I hear the Forest Temple music and happy memories come rushing back
"Darkness Amongus".
Sometimes I imagine a new licenced killer from Among Us.
I'd say the artist and Jonas's theme is the long game, both of them had the entity get involved yearsssssss before their capture.
Yoichi was the kid in the first Ring movie. He watched the video, and they even had a psychic connection. Of course, Sadako had knowledge of him.
0:28"I knew what's common in these two without even progressing further into the video"
I love the idea of having a survivor from ancient times like plauge or something
Legion/Jeff story is extra sad because Legion was taken before Jeff. So when he sees them again they haven't aged a day, but Frank sees Jeff got to grow old
I remember first picking up this game on switch and the switch base game already comes with a few of the dlcs already included. I remember finding out which survivor belonged with which killer in their respective DLCs and was surprised bc I couldn't see the connection between them
Im a David and Huntress main. And hearing their theme connections sounded very adorable and wholesome
The fact that all of them are two sides of the same coin is just insane and cool
4:40
I heard the theme of resilience connects them
The Doctor and Feng’s connection is through Doctor’s inspiration. Doctor is based off a Chinese doctors who uses shock therapy and essentially tortures gamers to “cure” internet addiction. That’s why Feng is Chinese gamer
I just love how you use a lot of zelda music
I never understood how Ace and Hag would make it a chapter but one main similarity i found is that they both rely one something.
Hag with hexes
Ace with luck
An important detail you forgot about the Doctor and Feng connection is that Doctor was based off an irl Chinese Doctor Who used cruel and unusual electroshock "therapies" to try and treat video game addictions, usually on children
he literally said he'd cover it in a later video. he didnt forget
Frank knew Jeff from HighSchool
Pretty sure the connection between the chapters is the fact that they’re all part of the trials
Due to the goofy gameplay i didn't know about how crude and the dark lore that the game has thanks to your videos.
Now I'm wondering if the original survivors and killers have connections as well.
Nea and nurse's connection clearly is that Nea is the entity and nurse is her servant
What would be super cool is if an alt reality version of one of the survivors becomes a killer.
Jeff: I did everything for you!
The Legion: I know...
*Mori time*
some of these chapters would make really good movies tbh
