For a longtime StarCraft fan, Jeff’s passion for the game is a big reason why I watch lagtv
That intro was a lot better for dinner-viewing than the prior one!
You aren't a fan of poo paste? Someone needs to get cultured.
Thats good news. I am loading up right now with my food
uThermal does pretty well with his cheese builds to GM
the last one of these i watched was like 8 years ago and it's crazy how yall haven't changed at all.
the amount of nostalgia i just got
A lot has changed during 8 years. But it is nostalgic for sure 😊
Max
The way you broke down how players get by with using a naturally gifted ability like macro just to get stuck at a certain point is the difference between a championship player and a gifted player.
I don't play starcraft and the amount of wisdom poured into this video is one of the reasons I listen you two.😊
I was a mass Raven player back in the day, and a couple of years ago (I think) I went back into Starcraft to play some mass Raven and they had removed the turrets from the ravens. Needless to say I lost in epic fashion because I didn't know about the change to the Ravens so I sunk a lot of resources into a unit that couldn't attack and I never touched Starcraft 2 since then.
It never was a 'good' strategy since it was pretty easily countered with mass anti-air, but for it was always a fun one.
You say but since the current incarnation of Ravens came to be, it's been a legitimate strategy to mass them.
55 seconds and I was dying already. You guys are the best!
That one widow mine @ 17:31 did some work.
TL;DL Play more like Kertoc
Blade needed to stop sending his ravens directly at delinqnt's army and sitting on his deployed turrets, especially when he had no armor upgrades for them all game. Let the PFs take the brunt, then the Ravens can directly attack his economy or support the PFs by dropping turrets and running away.
Also repair them, he'd go back to his 3rd base with them to collect the new Ravens he'd made and let the damage build up. Go down and to the left a little to his Planetary, Marine, Barracks wall, and all those SCVs could have been put to use, instead of just standing by.
5k minerals, spend it on a mineral only unit, get a big ball then A+move them in. Keep doing it while mainly focusing on the Ravens.
Kinda hilarious listening Jeff with his long rant pretty much just explaining what smurfing in video games is 😂
Jeff's point of abusing builds isn't really about what rank you are playing. It is just the nature of rts where some builds take less effort to perform than what it takes to defend it. But abusing just specific builds will show up in your true level of play. Sure, you can hit GM in the long run by just doing proxy voids. But your actual level is way lower than that. Jeff's playing career is a great example in this.
And just to be clear if someone is actually thinking this: No, mass ravens isn't a viable strategy unless you are smurfing.
Ghosts putting in some work with their EMPs against the Ravens!
Yeah. That surround with marines from one side and ghosts from the other was basically the beginning of an end of red's raven reign.
uThermal's myriad cheese builds to GM vids are definitely fun to watch, but would obviously be HELL to play against.
Let's goooo Jeff did my suggested sound lmao. Love you guys ❤️ 🍣
Not a single bit of micro was found that day.
It wasn't a cheese, it was just a nutritional yeast
That pool of stuck marines in red's natural was... painful to see at 17:47. And it looks like they still didn't get out by 21:05...
At the very least Lurkers should pop like balloons when they are exposed and take damage. No shot they should be tanks on top of everything else broken
I mean the Hydralisk is already a glass cannon, but since you sink additional resources into the Lurker and make it an 'evolved' version it kinda has to be more tanky than a Hydra.
Maybe they could make them especially vulnerable to something very specific, give them an Achilles' Heel of some kind. I'm thinking for any burrowed unit that shoots out some appendage that does not detach from their body it should always reveal them and make them attackable whenever said appendage is extended out (same for Infestors doing the Neural Parasite). That would absolutely make physical sense and might balance things better.
Man, its the DPS, the RANGE, Invisible, and TANK shell lol. It's way too much something has to give for sure. @@d0nj03
I'm proud of the fact these guys are from my city in Canada lol
That mine-armory-thor build what Ketroc uses pretty consistently on TvP
20:06 - yeah it does
Love the rant!
Zerg: Circle of Life
Terran's OP bullshit fast Thor build: Circle of Strife
Bladevision showing us the raw skill and knowledge and high IQ of turtle raven players
raven boy was floating 4k or so for like half that game
22:42 - yeah shut up jeff 👿
Supported
Where the hellbats and mines? 5k minerals in bank that lost the game.
Did the thing!
Tanks Ghost Vikings to counter the Turtle build ;D
I'm raven!!!
Hey! Alls fair in love and war
This game was so raven.
sitting on 5k minerals and ragequit? What?
Let's go!
Outflanked by something static.
Can't be any worse than the Spryfield McDonalds
Ravens aren't op. They don't have seeker and turrets don't last 3 minutes any more. You can't really mass them like back in the day.
Yeah I was wondering why I'm not seeing massive devastation with seekers flying all over the place. WTH is happening now when they make some enemy units change color tho? That used to be the look of a unit that had a seeker locked onto it.
@@d0nj03 They also don't have PDD.
They currently have anti armor missile, which reduces armor of the affect unit[s] by 2, interference matrix, which disables a unit kinda like oracles, and auto turret that only lasts like 8 seconds. I don't main terran so I can't give specifics. I've always been a protoss player and a zerg secondary.
They make good support still, but massing them is kinda dumb. Really being able to mass any one unit is a sign of terrible balance imo.
@@skylerjr2648 Ohh riiight, that color change must be the stasis, I guess they thought they should bring back that matrix-freeze-whatever that the Science Vessel used to have, I think it was only affecting mech.
LE: Nope, that was Defensive Matrix, like a Guardian Shield you could cast on your own units for added protection. Anyway. A bit crap then, making abilities too similar between different races, it kinda degrades StarCraft back a bit toward WarCraft 2 balance logic where units were 1:1 and just named differently. :)
The rework to Ravens has just destroyed their fun potential.
I think esports has ruined gaming. Balancing for the .00001 percent is just dumb. Games should be fun to play, full stop. After that you can go elsewhere with them.
I think balancing for RTS around the 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000002% is fine, but they need to have some units better for lower rankings. As the video said, a lot of things are harder to defend against than they are to play offensively. If you buff certain defensive units, you can get the best of both worlds. Nobody grand master is going to use offensive Planetary Fortresses, but bronze players will benefit if they're stronger at the level they're playing at.
It's okay if a unit sees zero play at the professional level, but is the backbone of low-skill builds.
Make Raven turret deal less building damage? Not sure if SC2 can split the damage type up like that, been a long time since I've played. Always felt like Raven (and their turrets) were designed to be defensive units, not aggressive harassment.
OKAAAAAAAAAAY
Algorithm
turtle terran games has to be the worst kind of match up, good if you want to fall asleep though
I play terran, every time I see my opponent is terran, I just cheese
I'm annoyed watching these players. I watched blue run his no hp reaper in to red's marines just to die, same with his full hp cyclone. I watched Red just stop microing his banshee, lost it. I watched red place a tank where he queued a missile turret to build, intentionally, and he probably just ignored the scv he sent to build that turret for awhile, and then I watch blue just walk his tank in to Marines and queue shift siege mode so it almost dies, and he almost lost his first tank because he didn't protect it, it only didn't die because the banshee wasn't clicked on to the tank, it switched to the Marines.
It's the complete lack of care and attention and it's pissing me off.
Edit: Red is a really shitty Ketroc style. Ketroc repairs his Ravens and he wouldn't drop more than 1 turret if 1 will do the job. He also wouldn't put his Ravens in to a position to get easily flanked or try to fight an army directly by putting turrets in their face.
All I got from this cast is that Maximus black is the Rhonda Rousey of SC Ladder
So the orcal needs revelation to detect units, but the raven always detects .... do you think that's fair/balanced?
So the raven always detects, but the observer always detects AND is invisible... do you think that's fair/balanced?😂
@@BunnyHoppin-
Actually yeah I guess 99% of players will go with orb command so energy for detection.
But if you go protoss air instead of robo, you have orcal with energy for detection.
So its more robo v starport for same/same sort of unlimited detection
Blade A moving all game was hard to watch. Lost most of his army of dumb shit
wow , that blade was a dull and trash terran.
