Proof? Source? Have you ever scaled a character before? If you have you would know garnet is hella fucking strong, and sure opal is strong too but she doesn’t compare to garnet, here’s how the fight would go, if it’s up close garnet demolishes almost instantly, if it start at a distance opal has a better chance but there’s no guarantee she’ll even hit garnet with an arrow, going off speed calcs for both garnets reaction time compared to opals arrow speed, garnet would easily be able to react to it and dodge and close the gap and then again up close opal doesn’t stand a chance, and even then garnet with her future vision could see many different situations of what would happen and know what to do in order to win, and even then I don’t think she’d need it to win, I would say garnet wins 7 times out of 10, meaning it would be difficult for her, but not extremely hard, to be fair your prob pretty young and don’t get what I’m saying, since this is a kids show, I used to watch back when it first came out and stopped and am trying to get back into it, that’s the only reason I’m here

I think they put Smoky Quartz above Opal because Smoky Quartz was Steven+Amethyst, whereas Opal was Pearl+Amethyst, and Steven was higher on the list than Pearl.

Well Sardonyx is more of Smart/Strong while Sugulite is just Strong so Sardonyx is a more balanced fusion and wouldn’t lose control as easily.

StevenXConnie is the worst pairing in Steven Universe, My problem with this arc is that it treated Connie's feelings about Steven's decision much more seriously than those feelings warranted. Now I used to adore Connie and she's one of my favorite characters on the show. Nonetheless in this arc she was behaving like a selfish brat.
Connie and Steven are children. They see the world with the understanding of children. Moreso with Connie. Steven grew up with gems. He knows what they are, what they've done and what they are capable of. Connie is completely new to the world of gems. She's just dipping her toes into the ocean Steven grew up swimming in. The Gem Empire is dangerous. They commit genocide routinely. Their power spans galaxies. Yellow Diamond commands armadas that can reduce the earth to a cloud of subatomic particles without even entering the solar system. There is nothing on Steven's earth, not even the Crystal Gems, that can cope with them in force. Connie's feelings are based on her delusion that by standing together she and Steven could have defeated Aquamarine and driven her from the planet with little to no trouble. Steven knew better. Aquamarine was a dangerous and powerful gem. She was cunning, determined and prepared to do whatever was necessary to accomplish her mission even if meant painting the boardwalk with Jamie's brains, blood and skull fragments.
Aquamarine could have taken six people off earth to an unknown fate or just one. Steven wasn't a martyr. He made a command decision, Aquamarine wasn't returning to her diamond empty handed. She couldn't be stopped despite Connie's overconfidence in her abilities so Steven had to find a way to reduce the damage. This is the kind of decision made every day on this planet by military commanders, law enforcement officers, medical personnel and politicians. How does one use limited resources to generate the greatest good for the greatest number? He offered Aquamarine something the diamonds would want more than six new humans for the zoo. She saw the value of his offer and accepted it. Steven saved six lives with that decision and he's supposed to be criticized for it because a 14 year old girl decides to throw a tantrum? I can only hope Connie's mother, Priyanka, hears about this and sits her daughter down and straightens her out about making hard decisions. Priyanka is a doctor who routinely works the hospital emergency room. She fully understands what it is to make high stakes decisions with limited resources and critical time windows.
Connie is an intelligent, perceptive and well educated young lady but she's had a very sheltered upbringing. She knows little enough about her own world much less a galaxy spanning empire that would render her and everyone she knows extinct as a matter of routine business. Until she grows up a little more and can fully comprehend the threat the Gem Empire represents her feelings are little more than a hissy fit and should be taken just as seriously.
Connie's feeling were warranted. The feelings of a child throwing a tantrum in a supermarket because their parents won't buy them the cookies they want are also warranted. Are those feelings to be taken seriously? Of course not.
Steven brushed no one aside. He saw something that Connie simply isn't adult enough to see. Steven saw that they couldn't win. There's an old saying: "Is this the hill you want to die on?" It means that you have to pick your battles. Not all battles are worth fighting. Some battles can't be won. Connie may know how to fight but she doesn't yet know when to fight. She doesn't know how to think strategically. She can't see withdrawal as a viable tactical option.
Steven didn't want anyone to die. Fighting Aquamarine and Topaz would have killed people. No doubt. Aquamarine had the power and the will to kill to accomplish her mission. Connie's upset because Steven wouldn't stand and fight with her? How would her 14 year old mind handle losing the fight with Aquamarine and Topaz, Jamie and Sadie dead and Steven hauled off to the diamonds while she's on her way to the human zoo? Steven giving himself up may have upset Connie but attempting to fight Aquamarine and losing would have traumatized her and cost her life on earth.
No, he's not supposed to take her seriously. Connie was looking at an adult situation with a child's mentality. She had no clue as to the magnitude of the threat Aquamarine and Topaz represented. Steven made an adult decision based on his knowledge of gems in general and the diamonds in particular. Knowledge Connie doesn't have. There was no winning a fight against those two with the resources available and Steven knew it. Connie just started high school. Do you really believe she could fully comprehend what the presence of Aquamarine and Topaz being on earth signified?
Steven didn't just brush it aside. He understood the decision he made and why he made it. And he was right. No one died. Everybody stayed on earth. And he found his way home. It was the best possible outcome for that situation. Steven won. Connie couldn't see that. She acted like all that happened was about her. What about the feelings of the Barrigas? They lost their son. He's stranded on Homeworld. He died. He's now a completely different being with unknown consequences. What about Barbara Miller's feelings if her daughter, Sadie, were taken off earth never to be seen again. What about Vidalia and Sour Cream's feelings if they lost Onion? What about the feelings of those who care about Jamie? He was almost killed. What about the feelings of everyone on the planet if the gems were to return to Earth in force? Connie needs to learn that there are things more important than her and her feelings.
There was no possibility of them winning. Aquamarine's wand made sure of that. It stopped Alexandrite dead in her tracks and she's orders of magnitude more powerful than Stevonnie. How much does Connie know about the combat capability of Homeworld gems? Does she have the information she needs to competently evaluate the situation and formulate an effective strategy against them? If Connie had gotten what she wanted the whole thing would have ended in disaster. How would she have felt then?
Lapis made the right decision for her. She got caught up in a war once and it meant millennia of imprisonment and torture. She wasn't going to go through that again. Are you blaming her? She's one of the most powerful individual gems we've seen and she knows she doesn't have the power to stand against the full might of Homeworld. Brave talk about fighting hopeless battles against impossible odds may feel good but real people who fight real wars for a living know how stupid it really is. In the real world you fight only when you can win. If you can't you withdraw, re-evaluate, regroup and come up with a strategy that gains you the advantage. Wars are very expensive high stakes affairs. You don't go into them without a clear idea of how to win. We have plenty of history teaching us what happens when you do.
The Crystal Gems are the self declared protectors of Earth. And they did protect Earth. But that was five thousand years ago when they were part of an army under Rose Quartz. There are only two survivors of that war now. They're traumatized, scarred, mourning the loss of the gem that held them together and fighting corrupted gems who used to be their friends. Earth was saved but the Crystal Gems weren't. They're spent and another war would destroy them. Even the presence of Amethyst, Peridot and Connie will not make them an effective force against the armies of Homeworld. Connie knows nothing of this. Connie understands nothing of this. To her the gems represent a magical world she's gained access to full of heroes and villains and glorious battles between them. Garnet and Pearl have looked into the real face of war and were forever changed by it. Garnet said so herself when Amethyst wished she could have seen the the last battle at the Strawberry Battlefield.
Connie's upset that she and Steven didn't stand and fight. She doesn't have the maturity to understand just how futile a gesture that would have been.

Although i agree with most of the rangkings on the list i personally dissagree with smokey quarst ranking. I think that she should be below opal. From what weve seen of opal and smokey qwarts I do think that she should be below opal thats just my own opinion though. I also love the ranking system you did with the highest rank being dimond which fits so perfectly with the shows lore and story.

Steven and Amethyst are actually in love with each other but they just haven't acknowledged the romantic feelings they have for each other yet, Amethyst's been reaching out to Steven since very early on, but very early on, she had demons of her own that were kicking her butt really hard and it was hard enough just dealing with them, let alone keeping them from hurting those around her and Steven most of all.
When is the last time you ever heard Amethyst show genuine concern for someone else's feelings?! You haven't because she never really vocalized that until now, BUT LOOK AT HER GO! All considerate and thoughtful and demonstrating a sense of deep compassion for the pain of someone else!
Steven's right. Out of all of the CGs Amethyst has arguably grown the most emotionally. She is FUCKING LIGHT YEARS ahead of where she was at the beginning of the series.
I love Amethyst-focused episodes, Her dynamic with Steven is really cool and unique and they have a very strong bond. It's been really cool to see Amethyst develop from the chill slacker to someone who wants to protect Steven from all of the Gem's problems (while still keeping with her relaxed identity). Steven has matured greatly and feels obligated to deal with ALL of the gems issues. Amethyst was trying to give him a break and let him enjoy life (he is her best friend after all). All of the gems had serious issues with Rose, but Amethyst was with Rose for the least amount of time and was able to deal with RQ=PD much better than Garnet or Pearl did and was trying to make sure Steven was alright before reflecting on her own thoughts. Steven is right, She really is the most mature out of the gems.
Amethyst wanted to be entirely responsible for her own issues and let Steven be open about his instead, but her talk with Steven in Fish Stew Pizza demonstrated that she couldn't handle that responsibility. Even when she was trying to focus the conversation on Steven's feelings, she couldn't stop her own from coming out in that frustrated rant. With enough time and insistence, she managed to convince Steven not to inquire further, but given the kind of person he is, it's hard to believe he'll stop worrying about her. I think Amethyst was right to make sure Steven devotes enough time to his own emotions, but she doesn't have to try to be a rock-solid support for him. The two of them could be a more thoughtful version of Pearl and Sapphire, metaphorically crying over the same issue while holding each other for support. Instead, though, Amethyst told Steven not to help her, and he didn't, and then they both went to go help Ruby.
It's no wonder why Amethyst was the first Gem to fuse with Steven. Not only does she connect with him as an outsider to the Gem War, but she's the only one to actually see him as an equal who needs caring for too.
Amethyst is acknowledging that she feels messed up by all of this, but that Steven’s feelings are way more important and that he doesn’t deserve any of this. She’s more worried about him than herself.
I'm gonna be real, that might be one of my favourite episodes of the whole show. It feels like the first time somebody actually realised something was wrong with Steven, and just went all out to help him. Connie kind of did in Mindful Education, but she had to literally be fused with Steven to realise something was wrong. Amethyst pretty much instantly knew that this was gonna fuck with Steven and did everything she could to cheer him up
They're still there, of course, and always will be. Amethyst has a lot of anger and upset and betrayal roiling around inside her yet, and recent events haven't done anything to lessen that. But she knows her demons by name, now, and she's realized that Steven has only just begun to name his and has been too busy fighting others' demons to even begin dealing with his. And Amethyst won't stand for that anymore. Steven needs help most out of anyone, is by far the least likely to ask for or even recognize he needs help, and Amethyst is mad about this so she's going to do something about it because Steven is great and deserves to be comforted.
Amethyst's whole deal lately has been that she's feeling her way out around not lashing out or taking her feelings out on others. She used to bottle her feelings until they exploded, resulting in situations like On the Run or Maximum Capacity, and all this angry energy would leak into her attempts at trying to be helpful too and mess it up. She was always the first to reach out to Steven, but back in Season 1 it would come across as mean (calling him a sad sack isnt going to calm him down from his warp pad scare), and even as recently as Season 3 we saw she still fumbled with "How to help someone who is sad" (throwing Peridot's tablet into the ocean is also not a good way to make her feel better.) She had a wrestler persona because she knew she had too much of this negative energy and needed an outlet for it, and it's probably a huge contributor to her whole urge to defeat Jasper. Jasper's someone she can punch who isn't Pearl or Steven or Greg or whoever.
Steven can't. He's never actually gotten a chance to weather his own problems and feelings because he's been too busy outright ignoring them to worry about everyone else's. And Amethyst knows that like Peridot was doing in Back to the Kindergarten, Steven is likely to just keep sitting on his feelings and sitting on them and letting them fester. This makes her even angrier. And since she's angry, then by god she is going to take that anger and use it to turn herself into a steady rock that Steven can lean on.
She's not ignoring her feelings here at all. She's setting aside the ones that she doesn't need to deal with immediately, and using the ones she does need to deal with immediately as fuel to help her help Steven. And doing this make Steven feel better, and that in turn makes her feel better too.
The important thing is that Steven now knows that he can rely on her without worrying that she’s going to fall apart. He’s never really had that before from a gem, other than maybe Garnet but that is a very different relationship.
Steven nagging Amethyst hardly leaves her the option to just be silent, unless she were to decide to ignore him, which she doesn’t want to do because she’s trying to make sure he’s okay...
Steven didn't start nagging Amethyst until she accidentally revealed that she had a problem. After that, her best option was to open up to him like he wanted, while reminding him that his feelings about Rose Quartz are also important and encouraging him to share them alongside hers, making the dialogue two-sided.
By the time Amethyst gave her final speech, she had already failed to spare Steven of her issues. She revealed their existence to him even as she was trying to ignore them in favor of his, and then she prolonged his worry by repeatedly refusing his help, which we have no reason to think wasn't motivated by genuine care for her. By trying to deal with her issues on her own, Amethyst is making things harder for herself, and it's not at all clear that she's helping Steven. She may even be hurting him on balance.
Amethyst isn't burying her issues, she's deciding that it's unfair on Steven to shoulder everyone else's trauma, and that it's about time she handle herself herself.
I think more than just taking responsibility for her own emotions Amethyst recognized verbally the tendency of the CGs to try to be their own islands. The CGs have a problem with bottling their emotions away from each other and not putting their vulnerabilities out for others they should be trusting to see. Amethyst understands this tendency probably better than any of them because she doesn't just bottle them up, she hides them behind layers of comedy and feigned apathy. Thing is, when you bottle something up for long enough that pressure builds and builds and when the bottle eventually blows its lid the discharge is likely to hit a bunch of people around you who don't deserve it. We've seen it time and again with all the CGs...how their emotional outbursts have sometimes literally come close to hurting or killing Steven.
And that's the thing. She DID essentially say, like you said "you deal with you, I'll deal with me" but the beautiful thing about that is when you're honest with someone you love and who loves you back you both get to deal with it together and lean upon each other from a place of equal and mutual understanding.
That's how Amethyst and Steven ended the episode and honestly? It was fucking beautiful. I'm so proud of both of them.
Amethyst, however, is the only Crystal Gem who has not been shown to be involved in a romantic relationship, but is still open to that kind of support. Could she possibly be asexual? I've headcanoned it, but I don't know if canon is taking us that direction. Amethyst has been shown to be little more than a scared, lonely teenager, really not much different than Steven as she's being exposed to an outside world that she's never known. Garnet's too bitter to teach Amethyst about Homeworld, Pearl avoids it, Steven is the only help she has at all.
Also, something that's stayed consistent with her character throughout the show is that she requires validation - she needs someone who doesn't look down on her as a child, who is willing to talk openly with her about things that she is curious about, who has a similar maturity and mental level, and takes pleasure from making her feel good and happy. Be it romantic or simply platonic, Amethyst has consistently shown that she needs someone to connect with in order to grow as her own gem, And that someone is Steven because Amethyst feels complete in her life by staying by the side of Steven, While they are together they complete one world, Their world as a whole :)
Wow I might actually start shipping them together like... Amethyst and Steven...I never knew she might have feelings for him, I kinda hope it happens.

, Agreed Steven and Amethyst would make the best romantic couple, They have developed such a strong and deep romantic connection to each other but they just haven't acknowledged their romantic feelings for each other yet
Amethyst and Steven have a similarity in that they’re both a strange kind of Gem who’s only known Earth. Rebecca says at this point Steven really knows everything there is to know about Amethyst, almost, while Garnet and Pearl are more guarded about the vast amount of their history he does not know. Amethyst was the only one of the 3 Crystal Gems to have opened up to him as early as “Tiger Millionaire,” She has nothing to hide from him and he has nothing to hide from her, They trust each other more than any other people they have ever known, And she’s changed the most from the beginning of the show because of her bond with Steven. Amethyst representing the present, changing right along with Steven, makes sense, when balanced against Pearl with so much of the past she can’t reveal and Garnet being ahead of everything, focused on what’s going on in her own mind (which makes it hard to even talk to her). Amethyst finds the most safeness and comfort when being close to Steven, He completes her and she completes him,
Both the advantages of freedom and the disadvantages of lack of structure manifested in Amethyst. Steven didn’t want Amethyst to have restrictions of the Gem society they rejected, They both protect each other from experiencing the troubling situations that threatens them with each of their passing days,
Meeting Steven inspired the growth for Amethyst where she can understand where she’s from and can CHOOSE the flexibility she embodies, rather than having that be a symptom of floundering. Now she’s developed the freedom to define herself as the kind of Quartz she wants to be, having seen the options and what her society of origin would have wanted her to be.
When Amethyst was comparing herself to Jasper and feeling inferior as she scrambled for identity, Steven was there to assure her that behind her back he was the one who saw value in her and in return she saw value in him
Smoky Quartz’s first appearance was born out of a low point for Steven and Amethyst. They bonded over both not being good enough-being the worst. So Smoky represented them reaching for each other’s help, and being willing to do that when you need to.
Even though the episode "Steven Vs Amethyst" was a source of tension between Amethyst and Amethyst, it also represents where they bonded and got a new start,
Amethyst in the past she wouldn’t have had the emotional resources to help someone who’s suffering, especially when connecting it to a place she has such a complicated relationship with, but after meeting Steven she has learned she’s allowed to be proud of where she came from, she’s found enough strength to know how to help ground others.
Amethyst feels complete in her life by staying by the side of Steven, While they are together they complete one world, Their world as a whole :)
