  • The climb up Scafell Pike from the National Trust car park is one of the most popular routes to reach the summit of England's highest peak. Scafell Pike is located in the Lake District National Park and offers stunning views and a rewarding hiking experience.

Free parking if your a National trust member else £7.00 for 4 hours or £9 .00 all day.
This route is 2.7 miles to the summit.
Starting Point: From the National Trust carpark, exit through the gap at the top end of the carpark, cross the bridge to the sign post and begin your climb from there with Wast Water to your right, England's deepest lake.
Brown Tongue Path: This path gradually ascends through grassy slopes and offers sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. As you gain elevation, you'll come across rocky terrain and a steeper climb.
Hollow Stones: Keep left here at the junction, after ascending for a while, you'll reach an area known as Hollow Stones. This is a flatter section that provides a brief respite before the final push to the summit.
Lingmel Col: The path continues to climb, and you'll eventually reach the right turn as you start to make the last climb for the summit.
Scafell Pike Summit: After the rocky section, you'll approach the summit of Scafell Pike. The summit is marked by a trig point and a stone shelter. On a clear day, the panoramic views from the summit are truly breath taking, offering vistas of the surrounding Lake District fells and, weather permitting, even views as far as Scotland and Ireland.
Descent: After spending time at the summit and enjoying the views, you can retrace your steps back down the same route to return to the car park. The descent can be challenging on the knees, so proper footwear and caution are recommended.
    Important Tips:
Preparation: Check the weather forecast before starting your hike and ensure you're prepared for changing conditions. Dress in layers, carry sufficient water, snacks, and navigation tools.
Fitness Level: The hike is considered challenging due to its steep and rocky sections. Some prior hiking experience and a reasonable level of fitness are recommended.
Navigation: While the route is well-marked, it's a good idea to have a map or GPS device handy, especially in case of low visibility.
Time: The round trip usually takes around 4 to 5 hours, depending on your pace and how much time you spend at the summit.
Safety: Inform someone about your hiking plans, and if you're not experienced, consider joining a guided hike or going with a more experienced friend.
Remember that conditions can change rapidly in mountainous environments, so always prioritize safety and be prepared for any unexpected challenges that might arise during your hike up Scafell Pike.

Its the Broad Stand / Mickledore route if you take the right path at Hollow Stones, more technical climb on scree and over large rocks / boulders
