Since you liked this game i can recommend Eco to you, it has a very similiar art style and goal, but it has really interesting progression and crafting. I cant really describe it, but the trailer on steam should be a good enough explanation
As someone who primarily plays shooter games or zombie games or other types of super violent stuff I do quite enjoy relaxing and playing some animal crossing.
The Wholesome Direct is probably something to look out for on UA-cam. While not an awards show, they highlight a lot of non-traditional games that most would call "cozy"
The best cozy game of 2023 btw IMO was easily Dave the Diver. It's a really cool mix between a roguelike where the goal is to capture fish and other ingredients while deepsea diving. And the other half is preparing those same fish that you caught into a meal for a restaurant simulator. Money earned is uses to upgrade the restaurant or your diving equipment. Incredibly cozy game.
It feels more like a mode of gameplay than an actual genre, considering how, to an extent, it gives off the impression of "[insert any game genre here] but subdued", and this is just me falling into a tangent of a hot take that games ought to have a cozy gaming mode All of that however does not discredit the idea that such a category at game awards should exist
I love comfort games, but not every comfort game has a cute art style. I love games like Minecraft and RDR2, even though RDR2 has a depressing story and can be competitive at times, if you go out and explore and find cool mechanics there are some very wholesome moments you'll find if you like stuff like fishing, hunting, or just riding your horse, etc. We need more games that are stress-free
I wouldn't call minecraft stress free until it's heavily modded cuz of all the monsters that constantly kill you and then not being able to find all my stuff and then having to start over in a new area cuz I can't find my base

i feel like Cult of the Lamb really scratches that itch of relaxing and play at your own pace, and getting some action/challenge in at the same time. I really do think more games should hybridize like that.
I was just thinking of Cult of the Lamb when I scrolled to your comment, and I'm so pleasantly surprised to see that the game is popular enough for this comment to get so many likes. I love it and I hope to see more games like it that integrate multiple genres that compliment each other.
Quitting competitive multiplayer games and returning to single player games is by far the best gaming decision I have made, it not only showed me the beauty of gaming through its multiple experiences but it also improved my mental health because I’m not getting angry all the time.
Used to be addicted to Apex for almost two years until I realized 400 hours was spent on that game were for majority of it was not having fun due to the competitive nature of apex in both casual and ranked
I did the same thing years ago fully separated myself from pointless competitive games and stopped fighting as well, I like myself and my life so much better now
Started playing fallout 4 again after months of tf2 and battlefield. I went from barely being able to play an hour at a time to 8 hours in a day accidentally.
Even though its technically a horror game, Dredge is my favourite comfort game. Its the only game i fully 100%ed (even doing more than the achivements) and i loved every second of it. Dredge made me realize that indies are way more worth your money and time. Just being able to chill out and play something relaxing is something that i think alot of people need to experience.
Yes Dredge is amazing! I'm typically not the kind to 100% anything but I enjoyed it so much I couldn't help myself. I'm a big indie game fan so I'm happy to hear it showed you what they can do
I loved Stardew Valley ever since I first bought it. When I introduced the game to my boyfriend, I was at year 7 and already unlocked Ginger Island and had a lot of progression in the game. A few weeks after I got him into the game, I see my boyfriend is already at Ginger Island and even had upgraded his weapon before I got to that point. 😂 My boyfriend was dedicated! Lol
I bought stardew early this year and im already on spring year 4 with ginger island unlocked,3 legend fish, infinity gavel and full hearts with most of the town but i still forget to upgrade my damn tools
It’s always the tools I’m on year 3 just opened ginger island and the watering can is the last item I need to upgrade and it’s on gold because I didn’t have iridium until grandad visited. Though I have come across a surprising amount of prismatic shards.
One of the weirdest but wholesome experience during 2020 is doom and animal crossing cute cozy relationship. Both games made you feel relaxed in a different way.
Dredge is a cozy game for people who like disturbing looking fish (me) It’s gameplay loop is simple and fits into the cozy category with you going fishing, playing the luring mini game then going back to port and upgrading your boat, and has grid-based inventory management (epic) but has that horror edge and beautiful artstyle that is also disturbing (and reminds me slightly of dishonored) I need more horror-atmosphere-but-surprisingly-cozy games
The only time I feel cozy in Stardew Valley is during a festival when the clock stops... otherwise it's an anxiety ridden fever dream trying to remember to crop dust all the villagers twice a week and on their birthday.
If you play on PC, you can use the TimeSpeed mod to make the time pass slower, giving more time in the day to do everything you want and also relax. Also try to remember that there are no consequences if you don't do something in your first or second or third year because everything will happen again in following years and you can take as much as you need/want to progress. I also get stressed by how fast the time moves and these two things have massively helped and turned the game into one of my favorites!
So as a girl that grew up playing games from the age of 5, i mainly played zelda, mario ect and Rpgs on ps2. When i got a computer at 13 i started being obsessed with shooters and mainly played those for a HUGE chunk of my life. Now im 30 and rediscovering cozy, chill and relaxing games has honestly been the best thing ever, me and my husband both have animal crossing and we sit on the couch and just play on each others islands after a long day of work. We save the weekends for shooters with friends lol
@@MissBarrett i just bought the ico special edition and cant wait. I really really love the last guardian too. Dont care what everyone says about the controls. Im happy that they are different. Cant wait for astro bot. I hope sony returns to their roots of creative games like gravity rush or parappa the rapper
I found myself in a similar position a few years ago. Playing tons of CS:GO and R6 was actually changing my behavior outside the game to being impatient, angry, and overall competitive. When I finally stepped away from those I started to enjoy video games again. It still took a number of tries to get into cozy games but eventually it clicked.
This cracks me up, because when I game in more focused genres I do this in reverse. I want the cutest outfit. I spend an hour in character creator. I want to find the cutest or fluffiest creatures. I want to team up, rather than compete, as much as possible. You get the idea.
my Gaming Routine is mostly 75% cozy and 25% pvp... and sometimes i groan when i want to do pvp, because i know how there's a possibility that it might ruin my day.
@@winglessangeldont starve together was pretty fun (iirc most of the dlc of ds is in dst except the sea one but theres probably a mod out there for that dlc)
This was awesome! You made this video about your life and channel lore just so you could make us comfortable about leaving our comfortably uncomfortable zone of competitive video games. Doing gods work
I've recently played "A short hike" and I felt exactly the same, i didn't know what to do and just played around a bit, and apparently there was a story to it and I accidentally finished it without knowing, it was a nice experience and a nice story, and i recommend thay game to anybody who wants to just chill
I wish i had friends that would understand that not every game either Tells you what to do with a quest log or has guns that allow you a competitive advantage. One of my friends at the gym was dunking on me for playing Slime Rancher when a absolute BEAST of a man walks up to us and says he enjoys it more than any gane hes played, and then left, I really wanna see that man play.
This is one of those channels that I find on accident and just love immediately. Just the way you talk about games remind me of how my games library also shifted throughout the years
we are competitive by nature, even for cozy games you can find speedruns to bring some stress back to the game, but is always nice to play something outside your comfort zone either to discover a new favorite genre or to see differently the ones you already have, but it only works if we gave them a fair chance with a clear and open mind, what am I saying? maybe is just another excuse to annoy people to play outer wilds
@@heath6802 I think the nice thing about cozy games is that you can go at your on pace without any external pressure. The desire to challenge yourself is intrinsic, but you could just as easily play in a different way if you wanted to
7:15 is pure comedic gold. Thank you so much! I personally am the complete opposite. I play cozy games only. Like the really really slow paced ones. I think plattformers are stressful and haven’t touched a shooter even once. I will try them some day but for now im stuck in my cozy space. Have a great day!
Despite my love for fighting, (sometimes) shooting, and competitive games, I still like to play cozy games as well. One I can name is Minecraft, and while it does have fighting elements (I.E killing hostile mobs), I tend to like mining and building more. Mining, to me, is very satisfying, especially after mining tons of ores, and with the materials that I've mined, I can build my own base, which is just as satisfying, especially when I take a step to look back at what I built.
I've sunk a total of 1000 hrs on apex before i quit the game. 95% of those hours were solo and complete misery. My best friend got me to play a cozy game called Stardew about a year or two ago, and i still have yet to feel like i get the games point. But i think im getting there, and this certainly helped. Cool vid dude
This is basically my story as well. Had like 2000+ hours in Valorant and CS combined but at the end of the day they just didn't seem fun anymore more like the opposite tbh. Now I play mostly cozy games and story based ones and started having actual fun with gaming again.
good for you man for diversing your gaming taste I myself barely play shooters now and just go with whatever that feels and looks interesting despite the genre and I'm glad more people are doing the same
vintage story has to be a recent cozy game for me. the cooking and the survival is so nice. every sound effect is gorgeous, and the crafting is amazing and immesive
I mainly play JRPGs but play plenty of cozy games in between like Stardew, Short Hike, Cozy Grove. I find that it’s like a palate refresher after delving deep into heavy lore type of games. I hope you make more videos in the future about your progress in the cozy games!
my comfort game since its steam inception has been factorio, its very relaxing, no hurry, just slowly expanding the factory. Clocked almost 7000 hours already.
@@Angyl you should try metroid prime or metroid or other games you should try emulating Nintendo games or other games that are old. Like sonic or megaman x or zelda

Btw anything can be a cozy game!! For example I play mostly casual cozy games but a game I’ve been playing lately is Red Dead Redemption 2 which is way out of my comfort zone but it’s actually so relaxing!! You run around on your horse and help out your friends in your gang and even shoot some people up sometimes which adds a bit of an exciting edge to the tasks you’re given. I definitely recommend it to anyone just wanting to chill and enjoy themself. I completely understand though, I play overwatch a lot and I have been since 2019-ish and it can get so frustrating. It’s nice to take a break and play something new for a while
Just recently discovered Dave the Diver and I love it so much I'm obessessed with it! Its right down the cozy lane, where its so enjoyable, relaxing and fun. You dive in the sea during the day, collect fish and materials you find below water and use them to make sushi in the evening, collect coins and upgrade while having a really interesting engaging storytelling meeting new characters and unlocking new stuff. I highly recommend!
thanks for making this video! just picked up stardew valley again after letting it marinade in my steam library for 4 years and couldn’t be happier. But the urge to min max the fun out of the game does come and go
this is a neat little video to find, funnily enough, as a woman, who for a long time, played competitive shooters because i felt like i had something to prove; don't get me wrong like i obviously have a lot of fun in shooters, and the thrill of ranking up is a nice high to chase, but i started my foray into gaming with valorant because a friend of mine who was a girl streamed it and i was like wow that is so crazy that she's playing that she's so brave. i want to do it too. this year was like, the first time i've really allowed myself to get into the cozy, nice, calming sphere of games, despite the fact that i at one point loved stardew and man. it is such a nice break. i don't know why i denied myself of this for so long.
The problem I have with trying to define "cozy" as a genre is people are throwing anything with a cute art style as cozy. I've seen cozy game youtubers talk about fast paced platformers as cozy because it had a cute art style. I kinda like the term chill, cus there are a lot of games that are super chill and not stressful that don't have the cute art style so don't get lumped in with cozy. Like snowrunners or Power wash simulator. but overall I do love a no stress game to play to decompress or with my gf after a game of sweaty FPS and other action games.
Seriously when I'm playing a cosy game I want zero adrenaline. So for me playing Skyrim on easy so I can just button smash during combat and be a loot gremlin is way more relaxing than trying to run and jump with any accuracy or reflexes.
This is one of the best videos I've seen in a while. It reminds me of myself and I'm grateful that I've been able to find different ways to become happy outside my comfort zone. The way you explain your experiences is an eye opener, and it's truly great. Im sure many people would acknowledge what they truly desire for themselves after watching this.
my life became so much better when i stopped playing online competitive games and started playing more compaign games, i really never want to go back to feeling miserable after losing everytime in an online game
I fairly recently got into "cozy" games. My Time in Sandrock is an awesome game, and it can be played casually, but can also be min / maxed and made stressful by trying to maximize multitasking each day - amazing game.
i feel like life is strange was the first game that properly got me out of constantly playing fps competetive games, i had watched a lets play of it years and years ago, but I still got so immersed playing it for myself for the first time, and after beating it I began to play more singleplayer games, and even non fps games, I've always been a variety gamer but life i strange really pushed me to play more games and expand on the genres I play, the bioshock series also helped with that, it got me into atmospheric immersive games aswell. Essentially what im saying is, play life is strange 1 and before the storm. Play bioshock 1 and infinite Also common W video angyl
As an, in general, man‘s man, who is into cars, football, hiking and other typically manly things, I have never had a a strong connection with competitive and otherwise manly games. In contrast with my IRL habits, my favorite games over the years have been stardew valley, animal crossing, house flipper, minecraft (usually in creative mode), slime rancher, etc. Its not like I didn’t try to get myself to like those games, but I think my IRL competitive mindset just didn’t want to deal with the stress of it when i am supposed to be relaxing.
brother i can relate to you! thank you for making this video it touched my heart i faced the same feelings and took a break from shooters fps compi games and started playing stardew vallye! it is fun
with this video i just realised, i dont have a comfort game, a cozy game or something. Thanks for sharing this, im gonna go out there and try new games
this video got me to play Dinkum, two weeks and I'm already at 40 hours just playing around my work schedule, haha! so thank you!! it's such a fun little game, and I needed it after I just burnt myself out on Stardew and ACNH
THIS !! THIS IS why i now only play single player games. the fact that you can play forever in a ranked and NOT GETTING A THING. oh my god you are just like me fr fr.
I gave up multiplayer games ( shooter) 2 months ago and bought 10 singleplayer games mon bazou, subnautica, celeste, punch club, my summer car, subnautica, portal 1, portal 2, middle earth, doom, american truck sim, arkham knight, the witcher 3, forza horizon 4
My cozy game is Skyrim. Valheim/Terraria/Stardew Valley are also my go to chill games. Recently picked up Warpips and that consumed a good 50 hours of my free time.
@@guidedexplosiveprojectileg9943 My first playthrough was my favourite. I've never completed the game, and barely play with bugs enabled. Half the fun is figuring things out, and you figure out the most in your first run.
@@Angyl never tried either, but cut my teeth in Minecraft's redstone, RTS and 4X games so the general concept should still apply here: Factorio is not your typical cozy game, it's more of a brainy-cozy game. The endgame of a veteran will absolutely look bonkers for a beginner. Buuut the early game mechanics should be relatively beginner friendly. Just don't stress it, go in blind be open to learn and have fun. DON'T look up guides! Half the fun is discovering the mechanics, and feeling clever when you manage to rewire your builds and conveyor belts in a more efficient way. It's not a competitive game, don't try to study and master the meta early, you will only get information overload and burnout from that. If you already have a solid foundation, still find it fun, but feel like plateuing in your knowledge, then it's a good time to look up pro tips. But start blind, that discovery at the beginning is one of the best parts in brainy games, and figuring out the lessons on your own helps the most improving your logic for IRL general application. Also with your background in competitive shooters, I may recommend The Riftbreaker first. Has some Factorio aspects but not as complex with gorgeous graphics and combat. You are a scientist in a mechasuit teleporter into a hostile alien planet with the goal of establishing a research outpost and a permanent rift gate for colonization. Mine, collect resources, build factories and towers to fend off the wildlife. Diablo-like ARPG camera angle with both building and combat, fun stuff. Can be pretty cozy if you hunker up in your base, build and push the tech-tree. But can be pretty intense if you push the campaign objectives and go out exploring the wilds with underlevelled gear.
I understand getting caught up in one or two genres. I'm fortunate enough to have played a lot of different kinds of games growing up. I also love game development so that certainly helps me get broader perspectives
as a newbie animator, the small animations you make deserve wayy more praise. they have careful consideration of all the animation principles and not just shoddily made like the other similar ones ive seen
literally thank you for making a video about this because i noticed this phenomenon of gender roles in videogame genres which is such an interesting topic to talk about (also love the lil visual gags theyre so cute)
He didn't talk about gender roles or their history in gaming at all though. As a guy who grew up playing a lot of Harvest Moon, Just Dance, and other games targeted at a female audience. There was a disconnect when I started to play competitive games with other guys. And especially now where I play mostly social sims and find violence in games relatively mundane. There is a *very* noticeable gender gap in gaming between pro-social experiences being popular with women, and male gamers tending to shun any game that isn't violent or competitive. There is a lot to talk about here and interesting studies + data, but this video was just a guy talking about trying a new genre.
@@haruhirogrimgar6047I really want to see the people who call Just Dance a female game, because good lord are they delusional ☠️ since when did dancing become a women only thing? I really don't like assuming things, but in that case I'll do it once: Those are 100% mf's who can't dance and cope by saying, it's a game for women.
I like alot of competitive, extreme, and so on, but it’s nice to just play a cozy game in the middle of the night whilst listening/watching a video essay, it’s such a vibe
We love when angyl uploads! Great video as usual. Loving the edits man. Been loving these videos 😊 personally risk of rain 2 has been my favorite game the last year and a half.
This is why i like to always be a variety type of player. You can find alot of enjoyment and if you ever feel burn out from one game you can move on to another genre or something relaxing and easy going
I hate how peoples think cozy games are for quote-unquote "white women"... I too have the right to relax and have a nice change of pace from all those stressful (and toxic may i say) competitive online games 💀
I feel like rust use to be like this back in 2016, Cosy. You could do anything really and not be judged for it. I feel that game is just a plethora of pvp sweatlords that will eventually optimise the fun out of the game not only for themselves but for everybody else. So glad I quit that game around 4 years ago with 3000+ hours
I've been stumbling across a lot of "cozy" games on my Homebrew 3DS, recently been playing "Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns" it's actually alright to unwind too, I actually had an NPC ask me out when I was trying to court her twin sister, which made me laugh. (I did say yes though)
I might check that out too actually this video made me wanna try out Animal Crossing New Leaf on my homebrew 3DS I don't use it nearly enough and I think having cozy games on it would benefit the fact that I can use it while laying down unlike my PC
Its kinda funny how im went the complete opposite of this. I used to play cozy games like Minecraft with cute mods, Good Pizza, the sims, and so on. At one point i found that these games doesn't bring enough thrill and doesn't give me the dopamine rush i always seek so i started playing games like cod, extraction shooter games, anything that makes my brain think im going to die if i lose
😄 I see you've found the best quality of a good cozy game -- you really can play it however you want. I mean, Dinkum or Stardew or Animal Crossing are never going to be full of headshots and gore, but if you really want to play "competitively" in those games, you can *make up* a way to do so.... which is also creative play, which is the whole point of...play. But I'm glad you've expanded your horizons, and are enjoying doing so.🙂
Cozy games for me are typically: Light in tone and mood. A shallow, if not intriguing, story. Can be paused! Can be played in short bursts or in long cozy marathon sessions. A few “cozy games” for me that aren’t really thought of are cozy are games like Need For Speed, Spyro, Ratchet & Clank.
You should try Stardew Valley, it is the best cozy game, the progress on those games comes from expanding the ways you have to make money, sort of. Animal Crossing is a different thing, is too much bound to IRL time and social play. Stardew Valley brings a little bit of RPG elements, harvest moon style, you want to complete some objetives as soon as possible, farm money, but is quite hard to optimize your day, decent deep progression if I can say so.
There are so many games that arent "cozy" that give me that relaxation feeling youre craving. The forest is a big one. Every time my friends and I start feeling the burnout of competitive games its one we always find ourselves going back to. The slow paced exploration and "do it how you want" is a very welcome change. That and dying light, always hits the spot there.
y'know, I've never tried one of these cozy games. unlike you, my niche is roguelikes - not directly competitive, but still very stressful. I should try and get out of that comfort zone!
There's quite a lot, with a good variety. Been getting into them since late 2000s starting with games like Endless Ocean, a game about scuba diving and discovery. Finding a sunken ship and lost ruins was the coolest thing back then.
I recommend looking up and watching some "Wholesome Direct" videos on UA-cam. Their channel just shines a spotlight on indie games that are "wholesome" more often than not being "cozy" games. They do an event once or twice a year around the same time that E3 (thankfully gone) used to be where it is just like an hour or two of trailers and dev talks.
The frustrating thing about cozy games like Planet zoo for example is that when you make so much progress that your PC starts lagging because of all the NPC's and things it has to load in. Great vid tho! really enjoyed it
These games aren't listed as "Cozy" or "Comfort" on Steam. You'll find 90% of these games listed under "casual" and "relaxing." This is just for your reference and anyone else who might want to continue on the cozy game journey.
I've always been a half half person on this I've always played Battlefield Call of Duty Rainbow Six competitive Shooters like that a lot but I've always made sure to Branch out and try every single genre of game and I genuinely enjoy doing it so I really liked this video
While I did play Animal Crossing as well with my wife, who played it obsessively. I've always played a variety of games & noticed that in my mid 20's to early 30's I started to drift away from competitive games & focus on coop games when playing with friends. Games like Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Remnant 1 + 2 & Helldivers 1 + 2 all stand out. The final nail in the coffin for competitive shooters for me was The Finals. Started playing it with a friend (we had trouble getting a reliable 3rd friend each night) for a total of 30-ish hours right after it came out. Almost over night the skill floor seemed to jump past us & while we still won regularly it felt like we had to steal each victory vs fighting & winning. So now the only competitive game I'll get into is something like Fall Guys where I don't take it seriously or a racer where I tend to still mop the floor with competition because it's about control & understanding physics & tracks vs twitch reflexes, despite still having them but preferring to use them for souls-like games.
Maaaaaaaaan, I'm 38 years old and am just now learning this exact same thing. I started playing CS 1.6 back in the late 90s and have been competitive gaming only up until the last couple years. I'm finally loving playing some chill single player games where I can just shut my brain off.
I love playing Vintage Story because it gets you immersed with the world and having to survive. It may look like a Minecraft clone, but it started as a Minecraft mod called Vintage Craft which added better survival aspects to the game. It eventually became its own game and is gaining popularity everyday because it is different than Minecraft. There’s 4 seasons, animals are hostile, there are temporal storms and drifters, and best of all there is fireflies!
One great tip from someone who was like this, if you want to try out different games I always recommend to play what’s most popular or what was nominated for game of the year as those games are usually turn out to be the best games.
I had all types of games on PS1, some weird ones too, I liked Theme Hospital (Two Point Hospital for modern gamers), but for some reason I was more engaged when games back then had some small rooms with interactive stuff, like "Duke Nukem - Time to Kill" in the first area, there's a '1 room apartment' on the second floor that you can climb, and it was cozy to be there. Theme Hospital also had those generated doctors that would move and do their stuff, I liked to imagine what were they doing when typing on the keyboard of a Computer, that I didn't knew the concept of. Until I got my own, and The Sims 1 was very good game for cleansing the blood of Diablo 2 and the Depression of Max Payne 1. I also love the Edge, very much, but you must always balance it.

Dredge made me realize that indies are way more worth your money and time. Just being able to chill out and play something relaxing is something that i think alot of people need to experience.
I love dredge! I always reccomend it as a cozy game even though its a horror game lol but there is a passive mode
Awww you's are so adorable! 🥹💜
It’s always the tools I’m on year 3 just opened ginger island and the watering can is the last item I need to upgrade and it’s on gold because I didn’t have iridium until grandad visited. Though I have come across a surprising amount of prismatic shards.
not dedicated, probably just better at games.
One of the weirdest but wholesome experience during 2020 is doom and animal crossing cute cozy relationship. Both games made you feel relaxed in a different way.
Dredge is a cozy game for people who like disturbing looking fish (me)
It’s gameplay loop is simple and fits into the cozy category with you going fishing, playing the luring mini game then going back to port and upgrading your boat, and has grid-based inventory management (epic) but has that horror edge and beautiful artstyle that is also disturbing (and reminds me slightly of dishonored)
I need more horror-atmosphere-but-surprisingly-cozy games
YES!!!! currently I'm super hyped up for the new DLC the team is cooking up
It might not be exactly what you’re looking for but Cult of the Lamb is surprisingly cozy

The only time I feel cozy in Stardew Valley is during a festival when the clock stops... otherwise it's an anxiety ridden fever dream trying to remember to crop dust all the villagers twice a week and on their birthday.
Dude. Download the time control and no friendship loss mods, TimeSpeed, and Friends Forever. It will change your life.
My bench-press is 390lbs, and I have 1,400 hours on New Horizons, and 600 hours on Stardew Valley.

I’m afraid this is my type.😔
So as a girl that grew up playing games from the age of 5, i mainly played zelda, mario ect and Rpgs on ps2. When i got a computer at 13 i started being obsessed with shooters and mainly played those for a HUGE chunk of my life. Now im 30 and rediscovering cozy, chill and relaxing games has honestly been the best thing ever, me and my husband both have animal crossing and we sit on the couch and just play on each others islands after a long day of work. We save the weekends for shooters with friends lol

Same!! It really affected my mood a lot and I was much more short tempered. Competitive games are so addictive
This cracks me up, because when I game in more focused genres I do this in reverse. I want the cutest outfit. I spend an hour in character creator. I want to find the cutest or fluffiest creatures. I want to team up, rather than compete, as much as possible. You get the idea.
Same
my Gaming Routine is mostly 75% cozy and 25% pvp... and sometimes i groan when i want to do pvp, because i know how there's a possibility that it might ruin my day.
if you want both, play Don't Starve! that game was released for like a decade ago and it's still underrated

Thank you for making this video, as a guy who also can't really stand the competitive scene of most video games, this was a super relatable topic :)
One of my friends at the gym was dunking on me for playing Slime Rancher when a absolute BEAST of a man walks up to us and says he enjoys it more than any gane hes played, and then left, I really wanna see that man play.

we are competitive by nature, even for cozy games you can find speedruns to bring some stress back to the game, but is always nice to play something outside your comfort zone either to discover a new favorite genre or to see differently the ones you already have, but it only works if we gave them a fair chance with a clear and open mind, what am I saying? maybe is just another excuse to annoy people to play outer wilds
Kinda copout excuse tbh.
Outer wilds is amaziing.
I absolutely love doing speedruns or challenge runs on cozy games

Cool vid dude
You should try Coral Island
Vintage Story is one of the best games I’ve ever played. It’s like falling in love with minecraft all over again
I mainly play JRPGs but play plenty of cozy games in between like Stardew, Short Hike, Cozy Grove. I find that it’s like a palate refresher after delving deep into heavy lore type of games. I hope you make more videos in the future about your progress in the cozy games!
I'm middle of the road. Factory games like factorio feel manly with the industrial building and alien squashing, while having the vibe of a cozy game.
my comfort game since its steam inception has been factorio, its very relaxing, no hurry, just slowly expanding the factory. Clocked almost 7000 hours already.

ive also passed through that phase and im still kind of in the middle of the crossroad, its when you go from vinland saga season 1 to season 2
But the urge to min max the fun out of the game does come and go
this is a neat little video to find, funnily enough, as a woman, who for a long time, played competitive shooters because i felt like i had something to prove; don't get me wrong like i obviously have a lot of fun in shooters, and the thrill of ranking up is a nice high to chase, but i started my foray into gaming with valorant because a friend of mine who was a girl streamed it and i was like wow that is so crazy that she's playing that she's so brave. i want to do it too.
this year was like, the first time i've really allowed myself to get into the cozy, nice, calming sphere of games, despite the fact that i at one point loved stardew and man. it is such a nice break. i don't know why i denied myself of this for so long.
at 12:29 you get a discord notification i found that funny and i checked my own discord thinking it was me
The problem I have with trying to define "cozy" as a genre is people are throwing anything with a cute art style as cozy.
I still can't get over how good is Harvest Moon back to the nature. I'm not gonna lie I kinda miss games like this.
my life became so much better when i stopped playing online competitive games and started playing more compaign games, i really never want to go back to feeling miserable after losing everytime in an online game
I fairly recently got into "cozy" games. My Time in Sandrock is an awesome game, and it can be played casually, but can also be min / maxed and made stressful by trying to maximize multitasking each day - amazing game.
"the manliest thing a man can do is do whatever it is their heart wants to and be proud of it"
i feel like life is strange was the first game that properly got me out of constantly playing fps competetive games, i had watched a lets play of it years and years ago, but I still got so immersed playing it for myself for the first time, and after beating it I began to play more singleplayer games, and even non fps games, I've always been a variety gamer but life i strange really pushed me to play more games and expand on the genres I play, the bioshock series also helped with that, it got me into atmospheric immersive games aswell.
Essentially what im saying is, play life is strange 1 and before the storm. Play bioshock 1 and infinite

@@Angyl I mean hey, if you've got a discord I'm willing to join and show you the ropes.
@@Angyl never tried either, but cut my teeth in Minecraft's redstone, RTS and 4X games so the general concept should still apply here:
Factorio is not your typical cozy game, it's more of a brainy-cozy game.
One word: Spiritfarer.
as a newbie animator, the small animations you make deserve wayy more praise. they have careful consideration of all the animation principles and not just shoddily made like the other similar ones ive seen
literally thank you for making a video about this because i noticed this phenomenon of gender roles in videogame genres which is such an interesting topic to talk about
(also love the lil visual gags theyre so cute)

I hate how peoples think cozy games are for quote-unquote "white women"...
I too have the right to relax and have a nice change of pace from all those stressful (and toxic may i say) competitive online games 💀
Snowrunner is the manliest coziest game out there, hauling big rigs through chest deep mud while enjoying tranquille sunsets and snowy vistas.
I hate competitive games my favorite types of games are the ones that are just dumb fun or survival chill games
i recognized the finals from that SINGLE DING SOUND EFFECT AT THE START OF THE VIDEO
i think ive stained my brain with games at this point
Its kinda funny how im went the complete opposite of this. I used to play cozy games like Minecraft with cute mods, Good Pizza, the sims, and so on. At one point i found that these games doesn't bring enough thrill and doesn't give me the dopamine rush i always seek so i started playing games like cod, extraction shooter games, anything that makes my brain think im going to die if i lose
Man, This is me right now in my life. I know I am 8 months late but here I am, ready for my cozy game era.
Stardew valley litterly has to be my favorite game ive ever played and yet ive never even beat it thats how good it is
😄 I see you've found the best quality of a good cozy game -- you really can play it however you want. I mean, Dinkum or Stardew or Animal Crossing are never going to be full of headshots and gore, but if you really want to play "competitively" in those games, you can *make up* a way to do so.... which is also creative play, which is the whole point of...play. But I'm glad you've expanded your horizons, and are enjoying doing so.🙂
Obviously men cannot be cozy or relaxed they always need to be ready for an alien invasion, just in case
Cozy games for me are typically:
Light in tone and mood.
I'm also a very competitive person and only used to play shooter multiplayer games. I now EXCLUSIVELY play cozy and singleplayer games :D
Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead is a great roguelike. I dont do cozy games, but balance them out with different genres.
No Man’s Sky is my personal cozy game. Just exploring and base building. Perfection.
Raid: garbage legends
I've always been a half half person on this I've always played Battlefield Call of Duty Rainbow Six competitive Shooters like that a lot but I've always made sure to Branch out and try every single genre of game and I genuinely enjoy doing it so I really liked this video
My cozy game is sleeping or watching shorts/streams. If i wanna play i wanna play hard or at least something engaging which cozy games arent.
There’s 4 seasons, animals are hostile, there are temporal storms and drifters, and best of all there is fireflies!
was really hoping you talked about a short hike, i haven’t ever heard anyone talk about it and its amazing
As someone who has been editing for UA-camrs since covid, I would just like to say that I LOVE YOUR EDITING. So so so good.
Y'all tarantula farmed, right? That's the correct way.
I used to be a try hard and a sweat but now I am the collector who tries to get everything in the game
