I don't know, maybe instincts to protect it? However, IMO, I don't think animals have the complex thinking to reason "if I don't feed the baby it will die, so I should get it help, then when it is well it can be returned to me or the mother". But I do believe her instinct is to protect her baby first.
When I was kid we found a juvenile dying rabbit in the yard. I brought it to our patio, and for some reason my German Shepherd decided to groom it, guard it and sat by the rabbit for two days. She would not go for a walk, eat or play. We had to pull her off the patio and sneak the rabbit away when it died.
After after that she resumed her normal activities of chasing squirrels, rabbits, etc. Just like Casi, why did my dog suddenly act that way for one small rabbit? I wish I knew.

What did he do besides try to nurse? After she initially punished him he submitted by laying back on her arm, she then raises him up herself to continue disciplining him for what any babies survival instincts would be that he had done previously. Mothers abandon their infants for many reasons. First time mothers more so And mothers keep infant even when there is something wrong such as blindness a deformed limb. He appeared physically normal at birth and had a good grip. I never read any research that states they can sense mental impairment in a days old infant. With the lack of nutrition he even started to walk some.

The sad part is Calvin didnt know the difference. He didnt know that wasn't his mom. But Casi knows that's not her baby.
I think in the first week yes that is all his natural instinct telling him this fur and tit with milk is my mother learning the ropes and troop rules and place in that world unfortunately he didn’t have a place so his was always to die be it on the ground abandoned by his mother without humans trying to get her to come back to him near him and or get him but life and nature and the troop deemed him unworthy, after about a week I think he clearly understood that wasn’t his mother that was just the food source unfortunately the only one and it hurts and sometimes didn’t get any for hours but he was fed for almost 3 weeks remember that, his last 24 hours was stuck with chiko and so he dried up and starved all the way see baby’s need to drink milk every few hours to stay hydrated and or to get fuel to grow and learn about the world around them he only ever wanted to nurse even after nursing for 2 hours straight he pushed his own luck become a parasite overnight and was tossed down as he was just like his first day alive

Celine was thr first and only baby born to Casi. Calvin was hours younger which made Celine the oldest. And in a troop the elders eat first. Plus, just after Casi took Calvin from the VOs it was a safety and security. Calvin pushed Celine out abd nursed for 36 hours nearly a day and half. He was getting chubby of all the mothers milk. Celine was thin in the face. So Casi delt him the hand that nature and being in the wild will do.

This is the game plan,VO's feed Cassi more food than the others. However, when they stop feeding her more, she consequently stops feeding him (baby Calvin). Its a crucial trick among many they play on these animals and viewers. This poor baby was trying to survive, people hated him for it. It tells alot about humanity. Moreover, she used this baby for food, fed him enough to keep him alive until others wanted to cash in as well, until he died, from dehydration.

Calvin was disliked because another infant had to go without to accommodate him. Calvin was surviving on milk that was meant for Celine and she needed ever bit of it to grow up healthy.

А Селин является альфой для Кальвина. Это значит он ест после нее и то что останется. Кальвину не понравился этот вариант. Без молока у Кальаина быстро наступило обезвоживание + физические перезгрузки находиться с Чико. Та носилась как угорелая. И Кальвин прилагал много усилий удержаться на Чико.
Дальше две версии не подтверждены: Кальвин скончался или Кальвина забрали и он живет с другими такими же брошенными макакаки. И у него имя Карвин.

@@cherylc3608 Especially from the 19th to the 21st, he was constantly nursing and actually looked healthy, not that he tried to himself at all, but he did look ok and his stomach was distended from his just about 3 days of nonstop eating and Celine is looking rough, Casi eventually figured out what was going on and that was the end for Clinger Calvin.
