- Abandoned overgrown 1920’s castle mansion in Canada. Explore #55
This abandoned castle mansion is pretty overgrown and hard to see. It didn't look that big until I seen inside and did a few drone shots. I was told this house and others in the area will be demolished for newer mansions. I'm not sure why as this house seams to be in great shape and looked newly renovated. It looks like this house had a lot of kids living here or it was a daycare. Pretty fancy daycare if it was. I tried looking up information on this mansion but only found out that it was built in the 1920’s. This house has been abandoned for approx. 2 years.

About me:
I have been exploring abandoned places since I was a child and now I would like to film the explores and share the videos with you.
My father took me to my first abandoned house when I was 7 years old. I remember going into the house and a old farmer came in and told us "we better watch out as the floors are all rotten and unsafe". Ever since that day I was hooked on exploring abandoned places.
If you have a location you would like to share with me or want me to explore for you please send me an email at abandonedurbexcanada@hotmail.com and I will give you full credit for the share in the description and during the video if you choose.

That's a Mezuzah from the Jewish religion. It's typically a affixed to entryway and inside is an inscription of the 'Shemah' ( a Jewish prayer).
Yes. You touch the Mezuzah as you walk through the door and say a little prayer. They come in all shapes and sizes.
Actually inside written usually on rice or parchment paper are two scriptures of the Bible so whomever enters thru the door the person is blessed with G-d’s promise of passover. Used to be affixed to the top of the exterior door post but today the Mezuzah boxes are so delicate and beautiful they get placed on the side of the door inside.
@@loridietz9154 its surprising usually the Mezuzah is the last thing people take when leaving the house for the very last time. Its surprising to see the parchment still inside people will at least take the parchment at the very least. It's sad that the developers will wanna get rid of this beauty
@Lucy's Life in the US, they CAN force them to. Eminent domain. If it's considered "for the public good," government can force them to sell and move.
A mezuzah (Hebrew: מְזוּזָה "doorpost"; plural: מְזוּזוֹת mezuzot) is a piece of parchment called a klaf contained in a decorative case and inscribed with specific Hebrew verses from the Torah (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21).
Just the thought of that house being destroyed is insane! The architecture both inside and out was amazing and unique, and in great condition. People are never satisfied with the blessings they have, it has to be bigger, better, showier. WHY?
I really despise these developers who come in and buy up large amounts of land with beautiful homes on it, forcing many families to move just so they can build cheap ass cookie cutter homes that in 20 years will look like crap. This happens in the USA to often, I’m guessing the same thing happens in Canada.
I wouldn't think anyone is forced to vacate their property, majority leave their houses because the developers offer the owners more than the market value of the house plus other incentives.
Yes 100%
Pockets of areas in the United States have Historic Preservation and the homes in these areas are (never) to be torn down and must be maintained to exact standards as when it was built. I live in an 1897 stone castle with all the bells and whistles, and I would never think to live anywhere else. Its not as large as this one, but it was designed more efficiently and has five bedrooms and one and 1/2 baths, towers, turrets and wrap around porch.
My issue is how MANY houses they cram into a little space, plus they all have HOAs. I live in Las Vegas, and if you want a house that's under $200k, isn't so close you can jab a neighbor's window with a broom handle, and not in an HoA, you need to buy a house that's at minimum 20 years old. Nevermind the fact they ARE so close together that all it would take is one grilling accident and the whole neighborhood could go up in flames by the time the fire department gets there... Because the roads are all dead ends. It's nothing but cul-de-sacs, so large vehicles also run the risk getting stuck or damaging cars or property to get out, so add in a fire...
Could have asbestos in it 😞
It absolutely blows my mind and infuriated me that these houses are just bulldozed. Look how many beautiful pieces could be repurposed!!! Sad.
I agree
This could be made into appartments...
These people have so much money it doesn't matter to them. They'll rifle through one mansion, it becomes dated, knock it down, build another. Their kids inherit the family fortune, rinse, repeat.
Yes! Fixtures, doors, cabinets could at least be donated to organizations like Habitat for Humanity.
Especially this house with all the unique carpentry. Such a special house-really admired this one. 🍁
HOW could someone tear down a PERFECTLY GOOD HOUSE, in such AMAZING condition?
You know why you are my absolute favorite abandoned house vlogger? You start at a door and walk slowly through in methodical way. Also, no music. Great job! Thanks.
Thank you very much 😁
I was just wondering why you don't go deeper into the room? Why are you over looking stuff in the rooms? Fire places, the kitchen, the basement you just barely stuck your head in the rooms.
@@darenmarkus6129 yes! I like when he pokes in cupboards and opens closets and such.
Yes I agree. I have seen other explores and I get a headache. They miss things also
this house is stunning. It just hurts knowing someone is going to knock it down and put up cookie cutter houses.
Spot on. Real estate developers are the Devil. Absolutely NO reason this house should be torn down. Sell it, and build around it.
I agree - it is a master piece both on the inside and outside. House also in excellent condition. What a waste, someone would love that house
@@rowbom I would!
There's a special place in hell reserved for the investors and developers responsible for destroying these homes.
Thats a beautiful house!! Its a shame no one wants to keep & renovate it. I hope a salvage company gets in there before its demolished. TONS of salvageable stuff!
Beautiful home....so big. Sad that it’s being demolished.
Lovely I could move in and have studio space too
Thank you 👍😉
Hey add me to house. A garden some birds... Lovely.... I'm in heaven...
Should be a home fir struggling college students.
I LOVE THIS HOUSE!!! Especially the kitchen. My husband and I are in the process of renovating our kitchen and I would take the one in that house in a second! Bad thing is that our entire house would fit into that kitchen. When I'm not sewing on one of my many sewing machines, or watching your Great videos, I'm baking. I love to bake and THAT kitchen is my dream kitchen. Keep making videos for us because I love them!
Almost forgot........ My guess is that this house was built in about 1900 and added on to a few times.
Ya this kitchen was massive
I believe the house was built in 1920 during the Arts n Crafts period. The give-a-way is the 7:34 finial on the staircase typical 1920's era.
I agree, and I don't even like to cook!
Our family farmhouse was built in (1854).George washington sign the grant to that land. The papers are in the archives still today. My aunt is living in it. She is 84. Awesome video. Thank you so much!!!
Please, make sure the house always has someone living inside, it'd be shame to end up being destroyed like this one
Your welcome!
God bless u and your aunt....
@@mamacindyrogofsky495 Thank you @Mama Cindy Rogofsky. Have a wonderful blessit Christmas.🙏.
@@vincentmaltais507 they won’t destroy a house with a deed signed by Washington. That is going to be a designated heritage property.
Makes me so mad they would demolish that house. It's amazing and beautiful. Not the everyday houses that look the exact same these days.
That house is wonderful, why the hell destroy such a place? The lovely entrance, roof line and exterior has an English "Arts and Crafts" movement look to it, great quality. The interior is more French Chateau and really nice with those white cabinets. The panes of glass 2:53 are called leadlights and are beautiful. Also the staircase is really nice. The item at 5:21 is a Jewish Mezzuzah. Inside is a blessing for the house from the Bible verse Deuteronomy 6:4-9 saying "You shall love your God, believe only in him, Keep his commandments and teach your children". In order to be a Kosher Mezzuzah it has to be handwritten by a scribe in Hebrew and afixed to doorpost. It is considered to be protective of the household. Such a fine house in good condition really should be kept. Cheers, Brent, great explore.
Thank you 😁👍
To be replaced by a McMansion that has a huge mortgage anyway...
I live in Hamilton Ontario and there are a couple of houses in my neighborhood similar to this. I live in the area of Hamilton that the show Handmaids Tale is or was filmed for its first couple seasons.
Beautiful! It’s such a shame how old homes are so easily trashed, and houses of lesser character and quality replace them.
I love the exterior and enjoyed the empty home, am more interested in the structure and layout, the build and aesthetics of the home... more than seeing / sifting through abandoned / unwanted junk that the owner did not care enough to pack and take with them... [for me] it gets in the way of seeing / experiencing the home, the 'actual life' of the building... Thank you for taking the time to tour and share the experience with us...
Absolutely agreed. It's much more about the structure and details/architecture than about the stuff.
This mansion looks like it could still be a home for generations to come. It even has some modern technology like the tv, washer and dryer. Sad that more than likely this is going to be torn down and a new construction will be in its place. They just don’t make homes like this anymore and really they should start to again. Thanks for the video!
Does anyone ever do background stories on these homes? Who lived there? Why did they leave? Don't get me wrong, I like to see these places, but I love the history more. Thanks for the tour 😀
Yes I try to research every place I explore. If it’s not online it’s pretty much impossible to find out why people leave. They usually keep it private
No, that would involve actual work and using brains. These kinds of videos are meant to bring ideas into your head, varying from I wish I knew where it was at so I could get that Jagger painting, to reclaimers wanting to salvage everything from windows to the marble. It's really to back the house is planned to be demolished and we live in such a throw away society. Did you know that windows of that sort , actually have a name ?
He explained it at the 4:00 mark
@@stevieflax leaded glass windows. The back of the house was Tudor style (German).
My guess is it was a Montessori school or retreat house of some kind.
Where in canada would be nice to know….
All the detailing from door fixtures, lights, built-ins show someone gave a lot of thought to building this beautiful house!
Looks to me like someone had been staying in the room with the bed. Just a feeling I got while watching. Thanks. Beautiful foliage...
Yeah possibly but tape still on the toilet 🤔
I agree.
Maybe it is a security guard. Especially if they possibly film there. Or someone still ownes it and goes there once in awhile to check on it. But can't afford it. People are handed down homes from wills but can't afford it. Or they check in on it once and awhile, until it is sold. Just a few ideas.
I loved that bathroom with the pedestal tub . . . that was dreamy!!
The front of the house looks like a small cottage, it hides the fact that this house is huge!
It’s like the Tardis!
I know! It was so hidden
@@TheCat72850 for real!
Someone's beautiful home at one time reduced to rubble. It put an ache into my heart.
"Welcome back, explorers." This is my favorite line on UA-cam. Thank you so much for your videos. I was up until almost 4am one night binging through a lot of your older ones. I love seeing all these interesting places in Canada.
Hi Brent ...it. Just makes me sick that developers come and just tear places down like this. It wouldn’t take much to clean up the inside..new carpets ...paint... that place would stand for years. New deck at the back. The front of the palace is breath taking with all the beautiful colours and majestic trees! What a gorgeous place. How sad. Thank you for showing this palace...before it will see its last days. Great videos Brent....awesome work.👍🙂
Thanks Linda
Another stunning home wow. Can't believe people can get rid of these gorgeous properties. There is so much character
Absolutely stunning home. This would be my princess palace. Sad to think this is gonna be taken down. What a find Thanks for sharing
Feel bad for family that lost. So nice.
What a place! Such a shame it’s going to be demolished.
On another note..we never intend on 'leaving you'! We follow you because we love any abandoned spot you share thank you for your dedication and sharing your interests with the rest of us! ❤
Thank you 😁
What a shame this house has many more years of life for someone who truly loves it .
How disappointing that this beautiful home is going to be demolished. I would move in TODAY!
This was what I consider a dream home at one time...I love the layout..so much space...and the breakfast nook is awesome...❤
Once that developer gets a look at this place, he might decide to move in rather than tearing it down. If he was smart he would do that because this place is gorgeous! Thanks for the tour Brent, as usual you do a nice job behind the camera! 😄
That was very nice, and really big!
Thank you Brent!
Take care and be safe!
😷🤗😘🥰
9:11 I love that bathroom with the soaker tub, and beautiful ceiling!
So sad to think of this place being demolished! I love those staircases! Thank you for another great video.
Beautiful home, can’t believe their going to it down. Staircase is nice
It saddens me to think that this gorgeous home is probably gone now. With a little TLC it would make such a wonderful home for someone. I think this has to be my favorite urbex so far.
I Love everything about this house. From the stone exterior, to the many halls and stairs, and random rooms.
Not so, “plain Jane” rectangular boring house. It has character.
Would’ve liked a part 2..
(I know it’s an old video🤷♂️)
From outside it looks like a fairytale house 😍 so so sad that anyone would even think of just destroying it 😭
The house is stunning! Sad it's going to be torn down!!
The architecture is amazing!! What a waste to tear down such a magnificent place.
I wish I could walk through it's just beautiful
Such a shame, gorgeous huge house. Has so much potential. sad to here its getting torn down.
christina trepanier, did I miss him saying where it is/was located? City/ province?
It is a beautiful house with a lots of potential. Personally I prefer smaller houses.
Makes you wonder why anyone needs such a large home and such expensive materials and now it will be demolished for junk homes. Why would these home owners sell out like this, did they spend more than they could afford and the upkeep get out of hand. So many questions. Glad you found this place before it was gone Brent.
Such a gorgeous place
Wow! This mansion was a massive maze of rooms! It seems it was an expensive build. The lead paned windows, curved stair case outside pergola, in ground pool, stone construction all scream $$$. This was a joy to watch and your filming was spot on! Thank you Brent for all of your explores that you share with your viewers, it is Greatly Appreciated!!🏠 🏡🏠 🏡
Thank you very much 😁❤️
What a beautiful house. It is so sad to see such old beauty torn down for something new. Nothing can match this. Thanks for sharing this explore. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
God this house is incredible. I’m so sad it’s being torn down. Such a shame.
I agree.
Looks like it should belong to a celebrity.😍
Looks like this was once a grand property, sad once again that this beauty will be torn down... All for the sake of development. Great explore Brent!! Always look forward to your adventures 😃
Love this one..just the grandeur alone is breath taking ,also really loved the kitchen and wainscoting and built in shelving etc. It also looked like half or part could be closed off and rented? Overall, thank you Brent!
Hello Brent, this is really a huge house. Thank you for letting me tag along.
From the leaded windows to the staircase to the door hardware, this is exquisite
It really should be criminal to demolish a house as classy as this. I could picture Nick and Nora throwing a party there. Surprised there wasn’t a servants stairway.
Wonderful find, Brent. Don’t know how I missed this one from -what, a month ago? Really enjoyed. Safe travels! ~~~Deb in VA
I LOVED this one. I honestly prefer the ones like this with fantastic bones. I would take this home and restore it in a heartbeat. I love a home that rambles, this one was spectacular. Thanks for the amazing vid
The house, judging by the door hardware alone, this house has been around since b4 WWII, and deserves better than to be 'tossed' aside :(((
You are too cute, Brent ("~so, don't leave me") . . . We won't leave you :))
I love the leaded glass windows. I sure hope they allow salvage companies to come in and get hardware, railings, windows, etc. I noticed that the floors were very squeaky, like an old house.
beautiful home, and so sad to hear that it may be demolished , can you imagine all the work that first went into this place to build it,, ? amazing
I really like the red tree in front of the mansion too.🖒💓🇺🇸
Watching a Woodstock documentary and I had to stop it when I got notification when you posted this 😊
Oh wow thanks 😁
Yet another great walk through. Your drone footage captured the land and house beautifully, thank you Brent.
This house looks fairly new, sad they are going to tear it down. Love your videos!
While I prefer the older houses I do like seeing some of the large newer homes you show. I still find it sad to see so much being torn down by developers to make new homes while the older ones have so much character and class.
I agree. I guess they can make more homes. Therefore more money and profit. J.m.o.
I wish I had money where I could buy such a house, totally renovate it and re-do the outside with gardens. I love the front outside red maple tree. A shame such a beautiful home is left to rot.
I agree. My whole family could live here and still have space. Did not see how many bedrooms were there?? Was there a sperate maids house? Or pool house?? Did not see that. But it would be too expensive to heat, electricity, property taxes. Clean. Maintenence. Would have to be a millionaire to keep this up.
My second favorite and it's hard breaking that it's going to be demolished, it still looks livable! 😯
The house is beautiful even without furniture!
Absolutely stunning house!!! So sad that it will be destroyed!!!
Someone has got to save this house. Incredible potential
Hi Brent hate to see this awesome old house get torn down. Makes me sad to think about it. As always thanks for the explore it was very enjoyable to see👍😃
Good blessings from a Mezuzah. Every house in my NY neighborhood had one at the front door when I was a kid.
Hi Brent, the exterior looks like a house from a fairytale! It's so lovely and so sad to be slated to be demolished. I agree with Jetwash !...saying how these developers often times raze homes and then put up cheap cookie cutter homes in their place. Why? Anyway, please keep up the good work. It helps to have something to look forward to in the evenings b4 going to sleep. :)
Thank you Deborah 😁
I loved the green cabinets in the kitchen
Not only is this a beautiful classic chateau style mansion, it's haunting to think of all the memories in such a distinct and whimsical place as this. Sad to think it's to be demolished for units of lesser quality.
Beautiful home I would much rather have that one then a new one that looked like all the other ones on the block.
So sad to see beautiful houses demolished! Progress takes precedent over beauty 😣
My favorite house so far. Can't get over the abandoned homes there!
Wow this is my favorite house so far. Just gorgeous. Loved the castle look. Wouldn’t take much to make this a showplace again. Sorry to see new construction take away such nice houses.
The architecture and unique features make this house. It’s not what was left behind.
Thank you for preserving this beautiful home in video form!
Thanks for sharing this video with me about the Abandoned over grown 1920's castle mansion in canada it was a really nice place and i really enjoy your channel and the videos you make . God Bless and thanks again.
That teal shelf tucked in the wall wow! i love the woodwork everywhere around the house must of taken a while
Imagine living there! Wow!!
Beautiful home. It should be restored.
For me leaving is not an option. You take us to some great places and do a great job of recording these homes. Thank you.
Another great explorer. Looking forward to you taking us back out to bars and farm houses. Till then, thanks for taking us along and stay safe!
Love all your Videos!, Reminds me of a Castle like Duplex we lived in when I was 14 "1976" Back in Newburgh Indiana USA
Thanks!
Leaded glass windows...what a nice place. Maybe it was some kind of day camp or school.
What a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing the video.
Would never think of leaving ya, lol. What a neat house. Move in ready, just some cleaning...if someone did that they could take their time and renovate it. Green pool was gross...lol😉
This house is gorgeous. So much storage room. Makes me sad
It is a beautiful home to shame it's going to get demolished thank you for sharing
Hey Brent. I love this mansion. It's beautiful. I hate to see it not in use and to be torn down for development. Progress must go on, unfortunately. Thank you for this wonderful tour. Much love and be safe.
Thank you Ronna 😁
That is so sad ... what a beautiful house!
wow comment peut on laissé 1 magnifique maison comme celle ci abandonnée... vraiment triste.
Beautiful home sad that it’s gone
Oh my loooorrrd. I absolutely love it. Beautiful. The stairs n the bath....my gosh...beautiful. thank you for showing.
What a shame it's to be demolished; such a beautiful home & I'm sure better constructed than what will replace it~!
Wow this house is absolutely beautiful and you have your choice of a master bedroom ❤❤❤ it. It should not absolutely should not be torn down.
THIS IS A TREASURE HOME.
It's a beautiful home , outside of the home really nice too , thank you for sharing 👍👍
