  • Massive abandoned farmhouse originally built in 1850!. Explore #54
    After looking up some town documents I found out after filming this location that the original house was built in 1850! I was way off as I was thinking 1920's. The original part was the small white house. You can see they put on 2 large additions probably in the 70’s.
    This massive farmhouse has not been abandoned for very long and the property was used as a business. This house was left very clean and they didn't leave much behind. They boarded it up and will never return. I stopped by this house awhile ago but it was completely boarded up so I took some exterior pictures and left. I returned a month or so later and the doors were all open. Kids must have opened it up as this house is visible from a busy road. It looks like they just went in but didn't vandalize anything. There are plans to build some large warehouses on the property so I'm pretty sure this property will be cleared out to make room. Since this house is on the historic registry the original house may be saved and moved and I'm thinking the additions on the house would be demolished.
    Thanks Rick for hooking me up with this location!

    I have been exploring abandoned places since I was a child and now I would like to film the explores and share the videos with you.
    My father took me to my first abandoned house when I was 7 years old. I remember going into the house and a old farmer came in and told us "we better watch out as the floors are all rotten and unsafe". Ever since that day I was hooked on exploring abandoned places.

      The walls of the original house appeared to be at least a foot thick. As it was built in 1850, the interior walls must have been plaster and the paneling added during the renovation. The house looked well built with fair to good appointments. The maintenance must have been pricy though. It seems like it would have cost alot for its upkeep. Great house tour.

      Thanks for the background info Brent, I hope the original house can be saved, it’s a beautiful property. I know things have to progress but all the same it’s so sad to see houses like this demolished.

      Couldn’t agree more. They took pride in the home they worked hard to create. Took care of it up to the very last second before the boards went up. I really respect that.

    That is the cleanest empty house I have ever seen. I love it. The roof and windows look brand new.
    There are many dumps but to sacrifice a home like this is crazy. Looks like they moved out yesterday.
    Thank you for the nice explore.

    I believe the owners appreciated the home, they took care of it and boarded it up. I like all the wood in the place. Wood holds up better than wallpaper and paint (if taken care of). Paint flakes off and wallpaper comes loose. Wood can weather time, more so. Anyways it will be a waste if demolished. Thank you for your time exploring and uploading and enjoy your week

    Gorgeous place!!! Have never seen a more emaculate house!!! The owner was very loving toward this house❤️Beautiful property!!! Loved all of the storage space! You don’t see that now!!! Granite sink surrounds in upstairs bathrooms. The beautiful wood paneling on the walls that were true wood, not laminate wood! Gorgeous! Sad that this place can’t be saved 😞Thank you Brent, for bringing us the gorgeous home❤️

    Believe me or not but I believe the original section of this house is a turn-of-the-century log cabin if you look at the thickness of the walls it's a dead giveaway.
    If my suspicions are correct, it's definitely unfortunate.
    There's a large salvage company based near Toronto, they had a TV show last summer and they would go in and Salvage buildings before they get demolished and they actually found a turn-of-the-century log cabin hidden underneath one section of the house, this house shares a lot of characteristics to the one from the show.

      Usually the windows in a log cabin have windows set different than these windows . They have windows that are set deep from the outside , not the inside .

    I just discovered your channel last week. I am watching a few episodes every night until I’m caught up. One thing I find really sad is in so many videos you mention a lot of these houses are going to be torn down due to development. And it’s so sad because most of these places are out in the middle of nowhere and they’re going to be turned into strip malls and subdivisions. Sounds like a lot of countryside is vanishing up there 😭

    What an immaculate place! Agreed that the house was very partitioned with no flow. I luved the wood in there, it seemed very warm and the honey coloring was nice. The stone in original foundation was beautiful! All of this was of course filmed so well!!! You have such a skill and craft when doing these explores, I really can't say enough about how enjoyable it is to watch them!! Thank you VERY Much for sharing and taking us along! 🏠 🏡🏠 🏡

      I totally agree. I would love to have that place. That is the problem with today's generation, THEY DON'T BELIEVE IN RESPECTING & PRESERVING ANTIQUITIES. Many young people treat old buildings & old people the same, they're just something, for the young people to ignore, then abandon & then get rid of when they think they are of no use to them anymore...☹

      Christine Laver .....I noticed that the builder laid out room dimensions to keep lumber on 12” widths and prob 9’ - 12’ heights. Enough to build another house from this lumber. Doors and windows possibly reusable. I hope that the lumber can be saved.

    The part of the video where the pool was shown made me sad. I thought of all the people who had lived, laughed & loved there. I wonder if the original owners were buried in a cemetery near there. What happened to the last people that lived there and all the people in between. I hope they see this video or someone lets them know about it.

    • @kellyngrey4950
      @kellyngrey4950 4 роки тому

      It is, certainly. But it's likely that whomever bought the house - or rather, the land - would make more money demolishing the house and building tract housing on it. He mentions at the beginning that the area is being rapidly developed, so I highly doubt that it would be an individual, but an investment/property/housing company that bought it.

      It seems like Canada is w throw away society. Sad. Hope someone can reclaim the floors and salvage the lights what ever. If if you have an auction. But people dint have the time for that anymore. It is easier to bull doze it down than take the work to get the good things out of the home.

      @Deborah Davis great idea
      But like you said it would cost a lot of money. And hard work. Long hours. A lot of Canadians find that too hard. That is why a lot of places of business are bought by foreigners who are willing to put in the hours. J.m.o.

    We really need to start saving more of these heritage homes from destruction. Developers don’t care, they are in it for the money! Preserving our heritage should be the #1 priority. Whether someone moves the houses to a safer location free of developers or designate more homes a heritage sight something more needs to be done to save our history. The more homes that are demolished the more we lose the craftsmanship, history and ambiance of these beautiful creations that span many decades. Often, with the same family residing in these homes for decades, the history lost forever with the single swing of a sledge hammer....historical and old buildings are too often overlooked and forgotten! Thanks Brent, for reminding us and sharing memories of these long lost locations! Stay safe!

    I started looking at abandoned videos 4 years ago 2016 in Dec my brother unexpectedly passed away in Nov 2016 and it took my mind of it. When I see older homes some of them remind me of my Grand parents home. It sits abandoned now. Where some apartments are going to be built. What memories we made there wonderful memories. So I look at this home and think how old it is and how many wonderful memories must have been made there. Maybe that is way they cleaned it because they loved it.

    Huge house! I'd be lost in it! Love those field stone foundations. They don't make them like that anymore (not around here anyway) and the beams!! Loved the new windows.. with the big inside sills.. Almost looks like additions were done every 10 years.. I see 60s and 70's for sure..then 2000s. My grandparents owned this over 100 year old hotel.. and it had the tub in one room and the toilet sink in another..I'm assuming to accommodate many people.. That house is big enough for quite a few! Probably only had one bathroom for 15 people at one time. *** I have the exact same Sony tv down in the basement.. hoping I can suck someone on kijiji to take it..Damn thing does work!! ( I don't wanna have to haul it up the stairs..going down was bad enough 20 yrs ago.) haha Thank you again for the tour!! I enjoy watching your videos! Have a good one Brent!!

    Thanks for another great explore. This home appears to have been well taken care of. I wouldn’t have vacuumed either after receiving money from the developers.

    Beautiful home really sad that it's being demolished . I think this is my favorite house now but it sure had some wild wall paper.

    Good explore Brent...imagine the hands that built that old brick wall and fashioned those big wooden beams...each explore is a step into the past...awesome !

    Except for one rusty toilet, the bathrooms were shiny clean (can’t help notice). One of the cleanest houses I’ve seen you go in. I always enjoy your tours. Take care 🇨🇦 ❤️

    I think that is the cleanest house yet in all your explorations. That is exactly how I left any house that we sold; spit spot! Even cleaned the windows and cupboards. Remember the movie Fiddler on the Roof and Golda as they were leaving their village. "I will not leave a dirty house".

    I wish we knew more about those who owned the place and lived here. Just seems like a place happy grandkids go for summer visits. So much room to play and run and then there's the pool. Even all that was put in, in the 70s is as clean and well cared for as the day it went in. I'm glad I got to see it, thank you for showing us the place. 🤍
