- Venda traditional leader Chief Livhuwani Matsila has urged the ANC to act decisively against those in its ranks implicated in the VBS scandal or run the risk of losing more electoral support. Tens of thousands of depositors were defrauded of their life savings, and to date, over 30 arrests have been made. The defunct bank's chairperson was recently slapped with 15 years in jail. Victims of the fraud, however, say the arrests mean nothing if there's no restitution. Matsila joins #Newzroom405's Masa Kekana to elaborate.

I agree that the guilty must be punished for their misdeeds and they must return the funds .Hopefully restitution does not mean that these stolen funds must be paid out of the public coffers.This was a commercial crime of fraud committed by private individuals.

Most of the money is gone and will never be recovered. The guilty must still go to prison, and the less money that can be recovered, the less sentencing discount they should get.

Yes, as they usually would, but alas, I still believe much of the money was just wasted. What they should do is work off the rest of the debt to the families of those affected aftrr they leave prison until it's all paid back. It should be part of their sentencing. That would seem more just.
